After watching several videos on this car you obviously did not have throttle on radio up all the way...50 mph is what this car does on stock gearing, not 39mph...but you did keep it straight and it handled that rc track well. Thanks for sharing.
These are actually pretty good and much better compared to the ak917. it just feels more stable. Definitely a usable every day car for people who like the look of it but have zero interest in speed runs. If anything i have more fun just driving it more casually. I am mid way through the dual motor conversion and excited to see the result!
Those Group C cars need to make a come back. This year Hotwheels brought a few different colour variants, which I got hyped about. The SilkCut Jag, the Coke Porsche, all them need to be brought back so we can enjoy them again. Gav, I think Tomley did the servo mod for the rear wing, so it can be done. Thank for sharing.
Good onya mate. Like you said, for an entry level RTR onroad car, you really can’t go wrong. I bought the carbon fibre RTR, mainly as an onroad basher, to use at the track, on the road and to do some speed runs for a bit of fun. Rlaarlo has done well 😉
I know a lot of people complained about the stability/steering on the AK-917, but mine had always been "straight as an arrow" accurate. Of course, that's all before my recent round of upgrades, which have yet to be tested. In the meantime, since I can't currently afford the AK-787, I purchased the AK-787 CF chassis, dual motor mount, and AK-787 top brace, and will (in a few months) convert my AK-917 to dual motor.
This is why I want to get an AK-787. I want to see how well it competes on the track, not just how it does in speed runs. This was the perfect video for me and some of the questions I had about it. Thanks!
I've got the ak 917 carbon and find it runs better with out the body so that must be the problem got the metal 747 coming so will just swap body's and wing just a little point the Carbon does come with bigger motor and esc so the extra 100 is worth it
I prefer technical-course racing and value torque, acceleration, and light weight over speed. An indoor track finally showed up in town and I'd love to try these chassis out.
Yup same I like to drive it and enjoy it not into all these insane speed runs they are fun but with 917 and 787 really have to becareful which road your in bumps and cracks make me nervous I seen so many these guys on RUclips mess thr up
I did buy it, the metal RTR...not interested on speed runs or double motors, for that I considered it My bargain...just my opinion but I get what you compare it to.
Same here I prefer the stock setup not into too much changing stuff and doing the higher 3s. U really have to becareful with roads on higher speeds especially how low these are I prefer stock speed is already enough and I love the way geese handle on street
I've seen a few videos about the Rlaarlo 787, and they all seem to suggest that it's a cracking good car for the money, and boy does it look good!! I like the wheels, a lot of the racing 787b's had those style wheels so it looks quite accurate. I'm sorely tempted....
I agree with everything you said here Gavin and yes the Tamiya is much nicer. BUT try to find one for the same price range is never going to happen. I have been after that Nissan kit for a long time and they are not readily available like these as well so there are pros and cons on both sides I guess. Great video I love your in depth coverage of these vehicles.
Good, that solve my probelm. Coming from a tamiya TG10 era. I tempted to relive the life of my youngerself. I stuck between this and GTB spec R. I like the plarro shaft drive system, there is where I come from. But I dont like thr RTR package. I like the CKD diy package more. This two models reminds me the older Associated TC3 and the one from seprent sub brand(Forgot the name)
Nice review..question, will a 2s 6500 fit? Also how many different spur gears come with it..i want to stay with 2s and get a top speed of around 35 mph...thanks for sharing
Don't think timing of your review on this one is bad at all. You answered a really good question can this car handle on a road course? And your thought process on which one to purchase is really insightful as well. I know it's not really scale but that Mazda-ish body is awesome piece of lexan. I love watching videos of the real thing. The reactive aerodynamics on the rear wing is interesting but seems kinda bling. I know here in the States the Mitsubishi GT 3000 vr4 had reactive aero and I think Mercedes and Chrysler had a Collab of a roadster with it. Raarlo reactive aero seems too flimsy and more hassle than it's worth. Great video!
Maybe some truth to the bling impression but some claim that flattening it for full speed runs does make a difference and two or three claim they can pair its action to speed or braking. It does, for example, have a working brake/backup light.
So I bought the Carbon Fiber RTR for $319 and got alot more car and speeds than you have there. Gearing is 34T pinion vs your 30T and 63T steel Spur vs your 78T plastic. Rubber tires layered with cloth, 1300W motor vs 900W, ESC is 120W vs 60W. While I haven’t, yet, found a good road for real speed runs, guys online whom I trust report 2S 40mph, 3S 100c 64mph, and 4S 100C “70mph at approximately 75% throttle”. They seem to have trimmed the “with modifications” claim to 160kph from 200, conceivably to due to a blogger making 200kph with addition of “bat wings”, vertical stabilizers he created, now on the Rlaarlo upgrade parts list. Just my guess. In any case, for now, I’ll find my fun with all three sizes of batteries and stock gears for the CF version. From what I’ve seen online, it should push 100mph with the 4S battery which, I understand, the bigger ESC is supposed to take. Good enough for $346 total invested in car plus Zeee 14.8V 120C 2200mAh 4S Lipo from Amazon. 🤷🏻♂️
People who do not care about speed run cars. I bought the metal rtr version because I only want a car that if fun to drive and am not concerned about doing 100mph. I have the 917 coming and have seen videos of that car doing 75mph with no upgrades on 4S. Fast enough for me!
Arrma had the Vandetta at $199 for a while. That car spanks the rlaarlo. Also why is the 797 so loud? Seems like theres a lot of friction/drag on the drive train. It doesnt seem to coast more than a few feet, and almost engine brakes on its own..
That is 1/8 isnt it? This is 1/10. The noise might be coming from the gear. My experience is the opinion is using rather soft material. It will lose its involute profit within couple runs. But still good enough to use.
I would look more at a race chassis personally from Schumacher or one of the other big manufacturers if you want to go racing. You can find some good used deals if budget is limited
I have never done that but I’ll tell you that, so far, my occasional spinouts are totally stable with all four remaining on the ground, moves that would send my previous buggies, similar money, tumbling for 50 feet. A controller-adjusted gyro is available at $39 for upgraded 8 ch controller and gyro to install although some say it should be adjusted down, if even needed at all. I have one coming.
Thank you very much for your attention to us! I’ve seen some of your video comments, and it’s true that we had logistics problems caused by 917 before! This time we have started shipping 787 ahead of schedule! We are always working hard! Hope you continue to follow us! We will bring more exciting products, RLAARLO is still very young, I believe you will change your view of us in the near future!
Turn the Throttle Dual Rate up..... should be doing 50+ on 3s
Thanks
40 on my 917 stock 2s
@@jeffarab4947thats a lot faster..maybe your battery was much better..

Yes it was a surprise how well it drives just as an RC car.
So is the ak917 not stable ? I wanna do speedruns but idk which to get yk

Love your Lipo battery bag! 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the review of the RTR!

did you see how he just destroyed the field in the racing shots.ya id run her too
pull the trigger, amazon 329.00 rlaarlo website 219.00 got mine coming you just cant get the green from rlaarlo right now?
I like to parking lot bash mine. Around the 45mph range is the sweet spot. It's super fun and extremely durable. Just occasional speed runs.
Excellent video sir love your channel
The timing of your video on this is actually better imo.

To be honest, The Rlaaro is a better circuit car than a speed car.
I did buy it, the metal RTR...not interested on speed runs or double motors, for that I considered it My bargain...just my opinion but I get what you compare it to.

Actually lights are very beneficial for speed runs..you can see car much better ..plus night and low light fast runs are very doable with lights..
I agree 💯! I came to the same conclusion & wouldn't purchase the aluminum version. Nice informative video!
I've seen a few videos about the Rlaarlo 787, and they all seem to suggest that it's a cracking good car for the money, and boy does it look good!! I like the wheels, a lot of the racing 787b's had those style wheels so it looks quite accurate. I'm sorely tempted....
Well it has shocked me as it's way better than I expected, especially the way it drives.

It looks 10x better lowered!! Way worth the performance being affected if it is.
Hahaha with 3sit is fast enough for me and the car looks really nice 😊😊
The Mazda would look very Nice next to my tamiya C11❤

safety first always keep your lipos in a clear zip lock bag you should set an example and use a lipo bag ha ha
Great vid. Cheers
It is a fantastic rc car . Sounds like you felt disrespected but that on you
Is this better than a Tamiya TT-02R if you wanna drive in parking lots? Because money wise this is cheaper.
Yep it's better

I'm looking for a rc to race in a circuit on the road for competition. Do you think this one is good enough to handle it well in 3s single motor?
I would look more at a race chassis personally from Schumacher or one of the other big manufacturers if you want to go racing. You can find some good used deals if budget is limited

Not bad at all for what is.
Sale in europe???🤔🤔
Looks good would like one but im in UNITED KINGDOM
Did u make sure throttle is 100 percent it cant be that slow should be 40 ish 😅
Yep that was with the throttle set out the box. It was not on full in this video.
@@RCKickschannel awesome and very nice supercar
Why so many variations money maker imo !! nice looking car tho 😊
It deffo needs the front disks on the rear, them chrome rims 🤮
To be fair the rims on the original car were mirror polished, albeit with gold spokes on the split rim centre.
Rlaarlo are typical Chinese crap. . Glorified WL toys. I own the carbon version. Don't waste your money... Customer support is terrible.
