I still like it, and think it looks great, loved it as soon as I saw pictures of it. Love the taller cage as well, I need to build mine and get stuck into it, just finished the TT02BR today. Great stuff and nice to see it running and darting about looks good on camera
Yep, still love it and glad I bit the bullet and got one. Despite what many say I really like the taller cage, it's what I always felt I wanted to do with my original
Such a good looking rig.!! And like you said, it really drives great. Really looked planted out there. Sometimes the older designs are super cool. I do agree that the livery should change up for each Blockhead model. We will see what they do. Awesome video.!! 🏆🏎😊
If your worried about cracking plastics you need to change all screws to metric fine thread M3.0 and get a M3.0 Tap to tap out machined holes to a M3 thread.
@@RCKickschannel good morning can you help with a question I've got a top force Evo and I'm new to RC cars I would like to know what the pinion gear mesh or pitch is please. I've just changed the motor and got to get a pinion for motor thanks very much thanks Karl
Looks great and seems to perform well. But if I was to have a hotshot it would have to be the original in red. I just have too many memories linked to it to ever have anything else. But I suppose if you have em all that works too. But all in all the shine on the plastics just scream for a higher nylon content. I always remember it being very brittle. The wild one looks amazing. Id put that on my shelf for sure.
Great video, Wouldn't mind seeing a shot of it with everything fitted apart from those yellow number plates. I think whatever sleek looks they may have left behind after adjusting the cage height are now disrupted by those plates.
3:14 I'd have to look at the parts, but if the parts are pretty similar there's a chance they "inserted" the molds to produce both parts with a changeover. You might find light witness lines where in the plastic where the parts have different features if that's the case.
I am a big fan of the re re Hotshot I've built last month, this one is definitely a keeper as well. I'm not an expert on vintage Tamiyas so I like the blockhead design, still hope they'll release the og Hotshot 2 later though...
cool car, but I am sorry, I preferre the "standard" Hotshot II.... so I canceled my order on the blockhead one... I really hope there will be a standard version also, but I do not think so...
If I get one I cannot put those goofy number plates on there. Since the price is not bad I may pick one up get a reproduction body set and make my own out of it. Still not a fan of it but a great running HotShot for around $200 is still tempting!
Wish Tamiya had gone with FRP or CRP plastic for the Gear boxes. I hit caught a rock and it grabbed the lower left A arm and sheared the entire front gear box apart!!?. Nothing really fast either Tamiya BZ with 14 tooth pinion!?. Missed the front bumper caught just bottom end of the A arm. crazy they chose ABS again for the gearbox with the much more powerful motors now!. I was originally thinking of 13.5 brushless hobby wing setup but not now probably would have destroyed the entire car!. I am surprised they didn't reengineer the gear boxes to have separate suspension arm blocks !?. I was looking at the gear boxes after fixing it, all that would need to be done is raise the height of gear boxes and leave an empty spot for the suspension blocks like other car brands have!.
@@RCKickschannel I'm not sure on that, in the old guide book they look to be identical, the front swaybar and mounts are completely different though, so it isn't as easy as I stated.... I also thought the SS and HSII shared the rear shock tower too, but I can't find any info that confirms that, plus the tower is black on the HSII and red on the SS...oh well 😅
I agree with the colour choices. I much prefer they released each ca r they do release of his to be a new WILD colour or design. That hotshot does look good but I won't be getting one as I would much rather the original style Hotshot 2 OR a Blockhead that was a new wild colour choice .
Gavin does the body have dimples in for the number plate screw holes and windscreen visor? If not the clear body they plan to release will be a good replacement on my OG HS2
@@RCKickschannel If you go brushless replace the aluminium pinion gear with a steel one from Traxxas. I ran a 4500kv motor from Hobby King in mine on 2s and 3s. However too much abuse and the side gears in the differentials start to separate and wear. You can also get away with not glueing your tires as they fit quite tightly and also allow a little bit of slip to take some strain off the drivetrain when launching.
I guess many owers alreay know this but HotShot serieas cars can be very fast only by replacing the motors on them even compared to any other Japanese RC buggies because of the simple structure of gear box. The biggest problem is the cornerting due to the far not enough capacity of the dampers... I have never had one but I guess SuperShot should have much better cornering performance... I have a Hotshot and I like the looking but I am not very satisfied with the cornering performance...🙄
The original hot shot 2 looks so good the block heads version just looks top heavy & clumsy im really not a fan. I do hope they bring the proper one out.
Agree about the shocks, I changed to 2 hole pistons and started with 800 wt oil, not finished the build yet but the front still feels a bit too bouncy, maybe a single hole pistons and 500wt oil might be a sweet spot
It's ok i guess, but it lacks something special. They should have used a different color scheme and some extra blingy or something to make it special. It sure is a nice rc car, but well average.
4:45... Preach! It is one of my favorite things early on. Great video as always.
I still think the OG Hotshot looks the best. More aggressive looking.
deffinatley
The OG mono shock front and rear design is the best looking and most iconic for sure!👍😊
I still like it, and think it looks great, loved it as soon as I saw pictures of it. Love the taller cage as well, I need to build mine and get stuck into it, just finished the TT02BR today. Great stuff and nice to see it running and darting about looks good on camera
Like the organization of the parts for the build up. I like the rims on this buggy.
Cool running video. Neat little car
finished mine today and i love it
keep up the good work Gav.
Yep, still love it and glad I bit the bullet and got one. Despite what many say I really like the taller cage, it's what I always felt I wanted to do with my original
Damn it looks good 😊
Looks good! I am no purist, so I really do like the BHM editions of these classic beauties!
Looks brilliant Gavin.. look forward to building mine 👍🤩🏅
Looks great! Can’t wait to build mine.👍😊

Nice, im building one now. Still uses plastic bearings of which ill get rid off and replace with 1150 bearings

That is a cool looking amd runs really well too.
The livery is cool! Im hoping they release a block head fighting buggy.
A Hotshot II was the last Tamiya I had. Went to Kyosho, Yokomo, and Associated after.
Wow , I too unboxed a hotshot 2 today , nearly bloody built it today to 😂 tbh never had a shot , so really enjoying it
I though the saint had returned at the beginning of your video, or was it a mysteron ??!! Lol 😂
I love the gold wheels I think it’s a keeper
Great channel you explain thing nice and clearly
Thanks 🙏🏻

Great video Gav, keep it up
Super great video here!! The buggy looks absolutely awesome but coming from a past Hotshot II it ain't no Hotshot II sadly 😞
The start of the video, its the Mysterons .
Great video, Wouldn't mind seeing a shot of it with everything fitted apart from those yellow number plates. I think whatever sleek looks they may have left behind after adjusting the cage height are now disrupted by those plates.
Though seeing as I also left them off my BH Wild One, Maybe I just don't like yellow number plates.
It looks good without the number plates. The issue is the body has the mounting points on it
I am waiting for mine to come in at my HS and my wild one is still in the box not opened and this one will be the same to go along with my MB.

Good point
I like it I got one ordered. But I would like to see a regular Hotshot 2 .
Same

I would love a rocky 4wd release to compare with this one!
I still have my MK 1. Very beat up but still awesome. Maybe I’m ‘old’ but I prefer the MK 1 over this.
Great video mate👍
What's the tekin labeled buggy in your top right corner? That looks awesome.
I totally agree with your hot shot argument.
Gav the original Fox didn't come with an anti roll bar, the hotshot II uses the same one as the original hotshot.
Yes the Fox had a hop up option from Tamiya

How ever Tamiya needs to keep these chassis coming - Its OK with me Monster Racer / King Cab Lets goooo !
KingCab, Madcap, Falcon to name just a few
@@RCKickschannel +1 for the Madcap, definite buy for me.
@@tobyzieglerrr 100% I would snap one up myself in a heartbeat
If/When (more likely) the Super Sabre gets Re-released, there is your Hotshot II. Body and cage the only things needed.
The Super Sabre red shocks were a different shade of red

Starting to on one or two but yes it would be a good move
Nice farm ya got there Gavin.. I love this car but I think they are overdoing the blockhead thing

Yea to has all the marks for the mounting points.

@@RCKickschannel great info on those clear plastic plates !, I was just about to drill new holes !, Thanks for that 👍🏻
This is or the upcoming boomerang?
Hard choice that.
Shame it comes with a pre-painted body, and those stupid plate things and don't get me started on those blimmin cable ties on the roof part...
It's ok i guess, but it lacks something special. They should have used a different color scheme and some extra blingy or something to make it special. It sure is a nice rc car, but well average.
if youre asking the question...you dont want it.

I prefer the original rerelease HotShot,i have two of them. Not a fan of this one..

No..still not liking it..
Meh.....prefer the wild one version. Don't overdo it Tamiya
