Jeff Beck makes me glad I'm a drummer and not a guitar player, because if I were a guitar player and heard this, I'd figure why even try to play? What really impresses me is the truth of what Jimmy Page said in his introduction: that Beck just keeps getting better and better. So many performers have they heyday and then coast or, worst of all, go on revival tours of state fairs where they show just how old they are. But Jeff Beck has never stopped pushing himself and the guitar to places they've never been. What a privilege to have lived alongside him.

And Page, exceptional though he is, created only one quarter of one of the best ever bands in the world. Beck became solo and carved out an exceptional niche. I was a little sad to see only Page inducting him when Beck has played with so many awesome other musicians though. Page has awesome riffing while Beck cuts, slices and dices the cheese with awesome clarity and technique.

I was the geeky one and I'd always ask "what about Jeff Beck, he's better than all of them" and they'd ignore me. The problem was that after the Yardbirds he wasn't really out there and we were mostly too young to have heard much of the Yardbirds. I had "Rough and Ready" and then "Blow by Blow". I played "Blow by Blow" for the group when it came out and they all sat there in stunned silence listening. When I want to hear Jeff Beck that same copy of "Blow by Blow" is what comes out. it's in the documentary "Jeff Beck: Still On The Run" - they'd all rehearsed 'Beck's Bolero' and Jimmy brought along his Fender XII that he'd used on the original recording. Vinnie and Tal thought it was a shame to have Jimmy there and not do some Zeppelin, so shortly before going there, Jimmy got a call to say they'd like to do 'Immigrant Song'. It was unrehearsed and unexpected and all the stage techs were going WTF? as no-one knew about it.
When it comes down to it, look at the smile on Jeff's face - he's absolutely loving it! Jimmy too, everyone is!

Jeff Beck's death hurt me as much as when either of my parents passed away. As a matter of fact, his being on the planet creating some of the most incredible guitar playing was strong heart felt medicine that helped me get thru the day/night. Listening to his music has been helpful, but it always reminds me that the #GOATGuitarist is no longer with us but his musical endeavors will always be here for his family, friends, & fans to enjoy. How much did I love Jeff Beck ? I got to see him 15 times perform his guitar artistry in concert.
    1) "Fire Meets Fury" with Stevie Ray Vaughan in Chicago, Illinois 1989
    2) 2 times with Santana in 3 days in Illinois & Wisconsin 1995
    3) "Who Else" tour 2 times in Illinois 1999
    4) "You Had It Coming" tour in Illinois 2001
    5) Eric Clapton "Crossroads" shows in 2007 & 2010 in Bridgeview, Illinois
    6) Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in Cleveland,Ohio 2009
    7) Intimate club tour at Park West, Chicago 2009
    8) Les Paul tribute tour with Imelda May, Cadillac Theater, Chicago,Illinois 2011
    9) Chicago Theater 2015
    10) "Loud Hailer" Ravinia Highland Park, Illinois 2016
    11) Performed half hour encore with Rod Stewart Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood, California 2019
    12) "18" tour with Johnny Depp Phoenix, Arizona 2022
EVERY time I saw Jeff Beck perform in concert he never disappointed anyone in attendance. He only got better & better mastering the guitar as the years went on in his life. He was the only musician I have ever seen in my lifetime that propelled me to a place I had only experienced when seeing him live. I was so happy & joyful when I was in attendance watching/listening to him tear it up. I'll never be in that place again unfortunately. I am so grateful & lucky to have seen "The Guv'nor" of guitar as many times as I had. After he passed away, I was feeling every negative feeling anyone could experience. I was devastated. The one thing that helped get me thru the pain was all the famous guitarists & their comments about Jeff Beck. Basically EVERYBODY loved Jeff Beck as far as his guitar playing but also that he was such a kind & humble person to be around. The only thing he loved more than his self made cars & guitar collection was his widow Sandra. Jeff & Sandra were big time animal activists which is another reason why I respected them so much. I miss him. Always will. But I will never forget him or the extraordinary music he created with his guitar. He was "One of One". We will never see another guitarist like him in our lifetime. RIP Jeff Beck.

One of the guitar players at the 2004 Crossroads Festival summed it up best: "All the baddest dudes were there with the biggest egos. Hell, Eric Clapton was headlining. But when Beck went on stage, every single one of them dudes, including Clapton, was packed off stage, to be amazed by Jeff's set. No one alive could touch him."
    True then. Still true today.
Page himself acknowledged it in his induction speech - "there's Jeff . . . and then there's us mere mortals."
    The "guitar god's" guitar God.
I just hope I, Jeff, and this shitty little planet, can hold on until the Royal Albert Hall on May 31st, 2022!

Man, one ofJeff Beck’s many many talents was his ability to bring an audience right to tears with the ethereal haunting Where Were You, then savagely go on a warpath and rip your face off like he did here, starting off with a savage interpretation of Robert Plants war cry and slashing everyone and everything standing in his way right through to the end of this musical interlude. I miss this man’s genius already.
