God, this took me back. To August 19th 1967. The California Ballroom, Dunstable, England. With a few friends. I was there for one of the earliest gigs by the Jeff Beck Group. Jeff on guitar, Rod Stewart vocals, Ronnie Wood(later to join the Faces with Rod, and then the Stones) on bass, and the thunderous drums of Mickey Waller. They played two sets of half an hour each, and were paid £115 (about $140). I've never forgotten that night. It was incredible and under the low ceiling of the ballroom, f**king LOUD. Jeff arrived for the gig in a bright pink Chevrolet Corvette with Rod, it was all so Rock n' Roll. And here we have the two of them, in the other California, over forty years later belting out "I Ain't Superstitious" off the first album, possibly even better than before. Still hard to take it in that Jeff is no longer with us. The greatest guitar player that ever walked the earth, and by all accounts a real gentleman. Rest in peace.

Saw Jeff at FivePoint Amphitheater in Irvine this past Friday night. I finally have my own verification of all the raving I've heard about his shows. He is Paganini with a fine Stradivarius. What puts Rod Stewart on a special list is his respectful, honoring singing of the old standards.
An unbelievable "rare moment" to see and hear two legends: Jeff Beck an incredible guitarist and Rod Stewart a vocalist who gets better with age like fine champagne!
I just missed that moment yesterday!! at Holliwood Bowl. Didn't make it to the show due to mechanical failures during our 4 hr drive to LA....go figure!!! :(
Although Jeff has a reputation for not suffering those who don't have their chops together, he has shown himself quite willing to boost the careers of those he feels meet his standards, regardless of gender, etc. Tal was probably twenty in this clip, but she looks fifteen, but she certainly holds her own with these old dogs. She's a talent--let's wish her, and look forward to a long productive career.
Graeme Golding Hard to say, but Jeff looks less than thrilled when Rod starts singing People Get Ready. Years ago they started a tour together but shortly into it Jeff quit because he said there wasn't enough of him in the shows to give his fans their money's worth. I have no doubt it was because Rod has lead singer syndrome.
Greg Vinson I thought Jeff looked thrilled when Rod came out on stage. I saw them in 69 and for them to be playing together after all these years is amazing. I think they truly appreciate the the moment.
OoooOohh that tone! Oh God I am about to cry! People #Get #Ready a #True #Artist has left us 😥 THANK YOU JEFF!!!! #Thank YOU so #Much !!!God bless your soul & Spirit!!! Bye Master
Wow...wow...wow...I've heard this done by many people..even Joss Stone..she's talented, true, but no many can beat the soul in Rod's voice and Jeff's axe..excellent..

I loved the intense love. They Both was so enjoying jamming together again. I think it pulled out the younger days.

That stinks! Better luck next time. Cheers.
I remember both of them from my Eeel Pie Island days. Jeff was with a band called the Night Shift and Rod was with Long John Baldry's band.
Quit being so sentimental. Just listen to the music.
Spot on Joseph
@@CooManTunes Mr. Anal commenter!
Literally, our childhood memories right here. Wow.
One of my favorite songs !!! Jeff Beck is my #1 guitarist on the planet and Rod is always incredible !!!
What a great friendship they have over such a long friendship
Graeme Golding Hard to say, but Jeff looks less than thrilled when Rod starts singing People Get Ready. Years ago they started a tour together but shortly into it Jeff quit because he said there wasn't enough of him in the shows to give his fans their money's worth. I have no doubt it was because Rod has lead singer syndrome.
Greg Vinson I thought Jeff looked thrilled when Rod came out on stage. I saw them in 69 and for them to be playing together after all these years is amazing. I think they truly appreciate the the moment.
Jeff seems genuinely surprised and delighted to have Rod perform.
@@sealisa1398 And Rod nailed the bluesy feel of both songs.
OoooOohh that tone! Oh God I am about to cry! People #Get #Ready a #True #Artist has left us 😥 THANK YOU JEFF!!!! #Thank YOU so #Much !!!God bless your soul & Spirit!!! Bye Master
To hear both playing and singing is amazing feeling ,
I love these guys, they are both part of the joyful part of my teenage childhood
-.What a brilliant guitarist Jeff was! Truly amazing!

Ronnie Lane indeed!!!!!
Complement.
As it always should have been. Forgot about this one.

*salute*
Rod really needs to back to his bluesy rock roots with his old friends before it's too late
It's too late!!
Too late.Once you wear a tie onstage, there is no going back
Saw them in September at Hollywood Bowl....it was a great night!
I'm sure Ronnie Wood would be up for it.
@@davidglow3 Come on, tie or no tie, ya cant be twenty five forever dammit!
Two legends on stage together, not to be repeated. RIP Jeff.
That is one of those truly great moments!!!
当時中学生か高校に上がりたての頃繰り返し聴いていたpeople get ready、オリジナルのカーティスのより先にこっちでこの曲を知った世代なので超感慨深い。最高。
Classic Beck. He was one of a kind. Gone too soon…
RIP 🎶🙏🏼🎶
Wow...wow...wow...I've heard this done by many people..even Joss Stone..she's talented, true, but no many can beat the soul in Rod's voice and Jeff's axe..excellent..
Thank God this s was captured on video! These guys are part of the great duo's of my generation like Phil and Don, Sam and Dave, Jeff and Rod Geeeeze!
Today as I'm sitting on my couch just looking outside. I'm listening to Jeff Beck playing that guitar and Rod Stewart singing. At this present moment in time I'm giving. Thanks for the fact that we do have a recording of Jeff Beck's performance playing his guitar. On this particular afternoon.❤️🔥 That's the only blessing I need as I listen to the two singing and jamming together to a great song. Thank God we still can hear Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart as a duet 🥰
