    Bro jus saved my life been dealing with neck pain for 3 years now and jus went and bought one of these from cvs and already seeing pain relief in my bed.. nothing would help no sleep position or anything cause at night my neck would always extend too far down and I would get pain when I wake up. But this device prevents that so it can heal. Thank god for this video

    boy, it's sure comforting to find a video where a knowledgeable doctor confirms what you're doing. I just started wearing my collar at night three days ago. This after using it only during periods of tremendous pain from spasms caused by osteophytes at C2,C3. They were visible to MRI when I was 42, now at age 63 the arthritis is interfering much more in daily life. Dr. Mandell, you saved me a lot of pain when you showed that the McKensie method of neck extensions are bad for my problem. As I began to suffer more I started the McKensie Method as I had when I was a young man, but I noticed much more pain, and now I know why thanks to you.! So , I'm off to find that perfect pillow, and with some chamomile tea and a collar I look forward to relief. THANK YOU and GOD BLESS!

    Dr Mandell I am finally getting around to writing this to you. I have had neck pain from a pinched nerve (C6,7) for 7 months with pain down my right arm and hand. I went to Chiropractors and Orthopedic sports medicine Dr's. I also did a full course of Physical therapy for my herniated disks. Even tried a spinal epidural with no success. After many other exercises, along with supplements, I was really exhausted trying to get rid of the pain. I then came across this video and ordered a collar. After about two nights the pain went away. I was truly shocked. A ten dollar collar changed my life. I don't know how to Thank you enough. This video was a God send. You are Awesome!

    With all due respect, I highly encourage folks do NOT do this. I too have neck pain and I tried to sleep with a colar on my neck. A few weeks later, I was having problems with my ear. I went to the doctor and nobody could figure out why. I soon discovered it was from wearing the neck brace while sleeping. What was happening was it was pulling on my SCM muscle which was pulling my inner ear out of alignment!! I stopped wearing the brace and my ear problems went away. Thought I'd share!

I try to do the McKenzie chin retraction when I am lying down otherwise the back of my neck can go into spasm. I have often thought of getting a neck collar. Maybe I will try one now. Yikes. Many years ago I had a sore neck from doing yardwork. I put some BenGay on my neck and put on a cervical collar and I went to bed. I had laid on my back. I woke up in the middle of the night having vertigo, really bad. I literally fell out of bed. I had no clue what was going on, this was before doing any research online or having any neck issues. It really scared me.
    After that the vertigo never came back, however I felt like I was going to be dizzy. I went to a chiro and she said it was my SCM. I wouldn’t let her adjust my neck, never, however she had one of her massage therapists massage my scm. Looking back, that girl had no clue how to massage that muscle. Didn’t get any better, still had that nasty feeling.
    Then I went to my general doc, he gave me muscle relaxants. I don’t like taking pills , but did one day, they didn’t help. I then went to a neurologist, he looked at my plain film xray and said I had stenosis and would have to live with it. He was an idiot. I didn’t give up.
    A friend of ours referred me to another neuro doc. He did a cervical and thoracic mri. He told me those were normal. He said go to a medical store, get an over the door traction unit, do it twice a day for 20 minutes. Come back in 6wks and see me. I was better in 4 wks. It ended up being a weakness or an alignment issue with my neck muscles. One things for sure though, I will never wear a collar to bed again. It restricts your neck. Bad idea, Just wanted to share.

    • @adaharrisonn
      @adaharrisonn 3 года назад

      @@trish2687 you'll want to find a pillow that is very thick and firm, the goal is to completely fill the space between your head and the edge of your shoulder when on your side, in a way that your head when laying is neither tilted towards the ceiling or towards the bed. Some pillows are thick but too soft and so even though they fill the space, your head slowly sinks more into the pillow through the night and leaves your head tilted downwards for many hours and will probably leave you hurting at some point. Some pillows are just too big and will leave your head at an angle against the pillow and will leave your head bent the other way all night and cause the same problem. It takes a few tries but i recommend a pillow with SHREDDED memory foam; has the memory foam which will keep your head cradled and comfy but because of the way the foam is dispered (not in a solid piece), it keeps its shape really well and doesn't flatten over time like most fluff or down pillows do.

      @@kanagalakshmi2310 I started neck relaxing exercises. If the neck is pulled slightly with our hands it will relax. You can also find different exercises online. You may opt some of them as per your convenience. Next I purchased servical pillow and used it wisely. It is to be used instructions carefully. Don't expect immediate solution. Follow them at least two weeks. Your problem will be solved. All the best.

    Sorry I forgot to say I use a neck pillow from the airport to sleep all the time I cannot use a pillow it hurts and is not comfortable I occasionally use a towel rolled up under my neck and neck pillow when I turn on my side I sleep around 4 hours maximum and I have sleep apnoea so I use a mask which attaches around my head and neck but not too tightly feels quite comfortable most of the time. I’m watching your videos and listening to your advice but it’s hard to decide the best ones for me and my condition. In case I didn’t mention my disc c6 was taken out 12 years ago after an mri scan and persistent pain in those areas. Thank you.

    I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while! I’ll start doing it a couple of times a week because I do roll on my belly while asleep 😩

    ‘This is exactly my latest question. I had this idea and was wondering if wearing a collar when sleeping was good or not. Thank you!

    • @fashionfitnesstrends5668

      Yes same.....what if our throat push by collar while sleep and we die..😥

      FashionFitnessTrends ..... our bodies would fight back. The only way that could happen is if we were a helpless infant or so very ill, or elderly, that we can no longer move. Our bodies fight for that next breath unless we have issues with our autonomic nervous system. Your brain stem will fight for a breath. Your body would wake up and move items until you could breath.

      FashionFitnessTrends ... my question, I was asking myself, was regarding whether the collar would weaken the neck muscles. Apparently, it could if worn by day too much but it will be okay at night. It will help support us in healthy posture.
