i have no words to describe how happy i am , haha.
i was struggling for weeks, never mind few months if i recall and man it was such a pain in the ass, i couldn't sit on chair for few minutes, i couldn't tilt my head down, i couldn't look left nor right,
and yesterday, i tried the sleeping method, it did feel uncomfortable, and little pain? while i was laying down, but i slept like a baby, when i woke up, the pain was drastically reduced.
my sincere thankyou , i feel at peace.

I had a bad experience with this orthopedic pillow. The problem was that you need to sleep on the thin side during sleep on the back and for sleeping on the side you need the thick side of pillow. And I sleep in different position during the night. When I was using this pillow for a years, instead fof feel refreshed I woke up with neck pain very often. And didn't understand why because all chiropractors recommends it for good health as you. When I tried to common thin pillow its feels so much better for spine and neck. I don't have so much headache anymore neither neck pain. So I think this pillow is too high for normal position and oposite put your head up as well like a thick pillow. Roll pillow seems better.

Hi Jon, sleeping on my back with no pillow just a thin towel roll under my neck has been a great help for relief from the bone spurs in my neck, also a fairly flat pillow under the towel roll. I had two cushions under my knees and pillows at each side for my arms. I’ve had four night in a row now without the nerve pain going down my arms. Thank you, you are doing great work with these videos and they are very appreciated!😊

Ive had pain for a month now. At first it was a stiff neck that resembled a strained muscle. Most stiffness is gone but now i have sharp and achy pain in back of neck into top shoulder into shoulder in area of shoulder and arm. My chiropractor just pushes out my neck and tells me just to ice and thats it. My neck curve does go opposite of natural way. I have scoliosis at the lower spine. I will try this advice. Thank you!

Thank you for this video. I have this problem and in addition I have a previous injury to my rotator cuff on the same side. So no side sleep at all because the lying on the unaffected side immediately makes the right side go numb, dead asleep. Lying on my back very long and the left side of my neck causes numbness in my ear, top of head, and face. My bed is very cushiony so most times I don't use a pillow at all. I have been doing heavy lifting and labor jobs for 25 years so I think it's all catching up with me.

I have neck arthritis, I have a pinched nerve for the last two years somewhere in my neck. I had a x-ray done two years ago, and it said I had bone spurs, I had something with the facet joints, and narrowing of the disc space and mild degenerative disease. I’ve been dealing with this for that long. I’m wondering if having issues like this can cause these few things? Sharp head pains in one spot that come and go almost on a daily basis just above my right temple in my scalp. A weird tingling type numbness sensation on the right side of my face near my mouth, which makes my beard hair feel prickly, that comes and goes as well on a near deli basisand lightheadedness? Afraid to go to a doctor because I’m afraid that they’re going to find something seriously wrong. It’s gotten to the point where I need to see a neck specialist, or a spine specialist and I will be doing that in a month. Thank you for any input.

When I lower my head to write or read, I suffer from terrible neck pain, even though I am only twenty years old. I have a problem, which is that I cannot write properly unless I tilt the book to the side or tilt my neck to the side. You also might need to address cervical hypermobility which causes Instability. So many many physicians know little to nothing about this. I was diagnosed by my Orthopedic doctor. In this case sleeping well, even though beyond wonderful, most likely wont allow this to heal. This is from my experience and 5 years of research.

@@drjonsaunders thanks for citing your older video. It's best, in my view, to bring up Cervical Instability for every video like the one in 'How to Sleep.' It's been an absolute nightmare in me getting from a pain scale of 9 out of 10 to a 2-5 out of Ten, daily. I had to resort to Reddit forums to lead me to any real qualitative help. Cervical problems that cause pinch nerves and/or arteries is what I was and still am experiencing. Reddit lead me Cymbalta and Dry Needling which got this pain down to the lower levels. Nothing and I mean nothing else has helped. Chiropractic Biophysics folk have helped a little bit but no other Chiropractic Methodology has worked at all. I mean Zero and I've been to a ton of chiropractors including the chiropractor orthogonal! You mentioned prolotherapy. I've had, in the last three weeks, Prolotherapy with PRP in my Cervical Facets in an attempt to strengthen the joints to reduce the excessive motion. Evidently it can be 6 months to a year for resolution if at all. Also may need a second round which I may get which is very expensive. Only reason why I am posting is just for public awareness and health of others.

I sleep on my couch which is fairly new but very squishy. It’s not ideal and I dislike the squish. I prefer a firm mattress or the floor. Would you recommend the floor over this couch?
I currently have a pinched nerve in my neck and have tried many of these suggestions on my own just trying to find relief! All of my pillows are flat so I am going to try a rolled up thicker towel. Thank you for your video!

I bought one of those pillows about a year ago and it caused shooting pain down both my arms. I can’t have anything touching the area between the base of my head and my neck or it exacerbates the pain so when I see this trying to put the pillow on my neck, I don’t understand because I can’t do that. Desperate for some relief on steroids getting a second MRI is now I think the disk is definitely herniated bulging. The nerve pain is everywhere it’s debilitating.

I have tons of structural problems, but I see when you are laying on your side, you are compressing your shoulder. You may not notice it, but I do, every night. What can I do about this? I sleep on my side, my back, my stomach, and all sorts of ways, because I cannot stay in one position from being sore. Is there any way of keeping the neck and head straight with the rest of the body, but not compress the bottom shoulder so much? It causes irritation between my shoulder blade and spine. Also, my spine.

    Question! 😊
I’m seeing my chiropractor for a pinched nerve in the brachial plexus.
However, it is definitely coming from a massive knot at the top of my right shoulder, which has been there for a very long time, and progressively got worse, into this.
It feels like concrete when trying to release it.
Will a massage therapist be able to get the job done?
    Thank you! 😊

    • @drjonsaunders

A massage in addition to your chiropractic would be your best bet, as the muscle is likely tight due to the nerve irritation. I hope you feel better soon!

    So I'm a bit confused.
I have 3-4 herniations from my C2-C7, and I work at the computer a lot so I have a bit of a forward head posture (upper-cross syndrome? heard this might be a myth). To combat this I've been doing chin tucks and a whole range of other neck movements. But I feel like I have a pinched nerve since my upper trap has a lot of pain/soreness. When I tried these two stretches, the variation where I'm pronated on the bed with my head tracking forward is providing a ton of relief. But isn't this contributing more to my forward head posture?
I am conflicted as the movements/exercises that are supposed to improve my forward head posture are seemingly making my pinched nerve worse. Unsure of the reasoning for these contradictory symptoms.
