      @juanete Ed literally says in this video that he hates the idea of calling people who eat meat, "bad people." It doesn't help the argument, and closes people off from discussion.

    • @HunterBelkiran
      @HunterBelkiran 5 лет назад +15

      @Roger No, they're no psychopathic people - they're apathetic and selfish, but not bad. That is a lazy, normative way of thinking that serves very little purpose. I think the idea is that if you tell someone that they're "bad," there is little motivation or reason for them then to change. But if we hold the idea that someone is at nature compassionate but is making bad choices, change is still an option. Calling people monsters and psychopaths serves only to further entrench the people who are apathetic in their negatively impactful habits and lifestyles. There are people who make good and bad decisions, but very very rarely are there ever, in my opinion, bad (to the core) people. We all have a negative impact on living things around us, maybe not intentionally, but we do. We are not BAD because of it, but we are not good either. Expand your idea of what it means to use such simple words to describe something so complex..

Then you say agriculture is bad but most of the farming areas on earth are for food which will be feeding to animals. The majority of animals are in factory farms and not grass fed for example. According to the FAO, 14.5% of green gazes come from animal agriculture (I advise you to read the article). And agriculture is not always bad, think about crop rotation. After all, even if you are possibly right that veganism doesn't mean ecology-friendly, i mean, the intention is in. It was just insulting to mention us and Ed as "deceiver and sheep" when all what we are trying to do, is being compassionate and help the environement. We have an overwhelming impact on the planet's environment and are obligated by that fact, to source our food responsibly. As you imply, we (with very few exceptions) are not hunter gatherers. Vegans... what is love? Do you guys actually believe this? Actions do not equate to feelings. Actions are only used to express feelings but those expressions can ignored. I can hate him so much that I want to destroy him but then think logically "but I'll go to jail" or this or that will happen so I choose not to. Same could be said with love... I love you but if I don't do this or that then this other thing wil happen. Think beyond your feelings vegans. People can ignore doing what they want or feel they should etc and do an action merely out of logical reasoning or because of a greater love or hate for something else.

      Elizabeth Elias 😆 you are using a tv show as evidence? And yes turkey specifically does have a sleepy thing to it I forgot what the chemical is called but ppl think it puts you to sleep on thanksgiving but it’s actually the huge amount of food ppl ate in total. 14k steps is where you should be at as normal activity nothing Uber special about that. My husband prefers his lunches be mostly a meat and the rest a veggie like broccoli. I can’t put pasta or rice or anything like that or he gets sleepy. His job is physically demanding so no sleeping on the job lol. I’m not trying to convince you not to be vegan I’m just saying that carbs especially pasta related ones make ppl crash. Earthling Ed
    Thank you for tirelessly standing up on behalf of the most vulnerable and the most egregiously treated individuals....the animals.
    I think it's a problematic false dichotomy to frame the context of the moral question of whether needless killing is justified or not in terms of 'killing' vs. 'loving'.
    Of course different people have different notions of what "love" means but I think it's safe to say that many people would agree with this definition: "an intense feeling of deep affection." It's what we think of when we think of a girl/boyfriend, spouse, the family cat or dog as just a few examples.
    The act of needlessly killing another individual is an act of not respecting their life, not an act of not loving them. So I'd argue that the correct framing ought to be: "You cant respect animals and kill (eat) them.....change my mind". Just my suggestion.
    The much better option instead of 'loving', IMHO, is respecting.....which I'd argue is the actual converse of 'killing'. I don't love most people in the world yet I respect their life....I wouldn't have to love someone in order to not kill them. In fact, there's plenty of animals whom I don't love and yet, of course, I respect their life.
    Love ≠ respect. To love someone is not the opposite of to not kill them.
    Much love to you.

      @Southy I think it's great to support vegan options that come from otherwise animal-product focused companies. It shows them that there is a demand for vegan products, and would make them more willing to switch over to those alternatives/release new vegan products, which will increase the vegan options in stores even further!

    • @Emma-dv1ze
      @Emma-dv1ze 5 лет назад

      Southy yes because it sends a signal to the diary industry that people want the diary free option. The diary and meat industries just work on supply and demand. If we start asking them to supply the options free of flesh, cows milk and chicken eggs they’ll start supplying it. That’s the best way to get change within these industries.

    • @Emma-dv1ze
      @Emma-dv1ze 5 лет назад

      Southy yes you would - some vegans have a different views. Just like not everyone in the same political party agrees. One thing all vegans agree with though is that animals shouldn’t have to die to feed humans who could quite easily sustain themselves on plants and meat alternatives. If there is a kinder option why not choose it?!

      @@JLydecka What are you talking about "pressured" by the vegans? We aren't pressuring anyone, it's called ENCOURAGEMENT. Quit painting vegans in a bad light. It's not hard to get your diet right. Massive amounts of bloodwork aren't necessary. Just eat bigger portions of varied whole foods and you'll be fine. There are tons of resources online to help like challenge22.com (which is free support with mentors to help you transition your diet), as well as cronometer. There are also vegan/vegetarian discord servers, which are super helpful.
      Also Jacob, meat will not help you grow healthy. It's been scientifically proven that animal products cause heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. How can something that's been proven to cause deadly diseases like cancer and heart disease be healthy for us? The World Health Organization and the American Cancer Society have deemed processed meat a group 1 carcinogen (same group as cigarettes/tobacco) and red meat as a group 2A carcinogen, which means they cause cancer. These diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, older adulthood, and for athletes.”
