For cleaning sinks with baking soda and vinegar, my plumber recommends, as the last step, filling the sink full of hot water and then pulling out the sink stopper. He says the vinegar and baking soda loosen up the gunk and the final flush sends it down to the main drain line.
My hack is to let kids help! I started a chore jar with my son when he was 3 (he picks a popsicle stick out of a jar with a chore on it) and now at 7 it’s part of his routine. Yes at 3 I had to redo his chore or let it go partly done but now at 7 he’s super helpful and sometimes even does a better job than I would!
My hack when I don’t want to do anything is to play a game with myself, which I actually like to do. I quickly assess the room and give it a number. For example, I will set the timer for 12 minutes to pick up the living room and vacuum area rug. This does something to my brain. The fog clears and I turn into this efficient, cleaner, organizer and move from room to room. Believe it or not this helps getting me motivated to shower and change out of nightgown. I will set timer for 15 minutes and tell myself to shower, moisture face, brush teeth, and blow dry half of head and let the rest air dry and 15 minutes later I’m dressed and looking a lot better than when I started. And I never forget to tell myself “good job.””
A laundry tip: One the load come out of the dryer fold/hang it right away. This is the only thing that gets my laundry complete. Also, less wrinkles. It doesn't take as long as you think and it it very beneficial.
I just bought myself a robot vacuum. I retired from work in September 2019 because of a back injury. My daughter and her husband are remodeling my tiny home for me. I had a lot of walls and a hallway that made my tiny home SO much smaller. It’s only 350 square feet or so. So taking out all of my walls (except for one, my bathroom/closet) and opening the whole thing, it’s now a HUGE tiny home. I told my daughter I needed to get a new vacuum. She told me how much easier it would be on my back if I got a robot vacuum. I had never even thought about that before! My back injury limits the amount of time I can stand. It tightens up and gets very painful. I have to sit quickly to get relief. So I’m super excited to get back in my house (in about 2 weeks) and put that little robotic maid to work for me!! Lol
I use the toilet wands but before I use it in the toilet I do a quick once over on the tub and tile then finish up with the toilet before tossing it.
I would love a robot vacuum! Just need to save.
start (sorry, had to do it & sorry if I missed any)
I do 10 minute workouts, I feel like I can make time for 10 min to move my body a few times a day. And then I’m like wow I did a whole set of workouts today lol
The “big shower”. Yesss🤣. We do know what you are talking about.
For a money saving tip. Get a rechargeable air blower it has saved is a great deal. No more cans of air. Less waste in the trash too. We found ours on Amazon in the computer section.
When my son became mobile, my husband named him “One Man Wrecking Crew.”
The way that vacuum went around those cords was genuinely impressive!!!!!!
I appreciate how your toddler is taking things out of the drawers as you’re trying to clean the room! such a
Love watching you young mothers. We are raising two young grandsons. It’s so hard the second time around!
I love this. I do sheets on Sunday so Sunday night I have fresh sheets and it makes me so happy and I like how it starts my week
I keep my bathroom cleaning supplies in the bathroom. When I have a few minutes I do quick spot cleaning, sometimes every day. Then when I do a deeper clean on the weekend it means it’s easier to do that thorough job.
I folded laundry out of the dryer and into colour coded baskets... one colour for each member of the family... and we were a family of 6. When the kids were old enough they would retrieve their basket and put away their own laundry. It was a good system. That way you can separate colours more effectively and have full loads.
I also put my kitchens drain plugs into the dishwasher with the cleaner, two jobs done at once
I love that you have the scrunchie on your wrist…… I can totally relate.. hair goes up, comes down, goes up, comes down…. All day
