I think u feel rich when you have time. You don't need to rush, enjoy your coffee, take all the time to get ready. Having too much stuff to take care of only takes away from the richness of having time

    Florist here and a ~PSA~
1.clean off any foliage that will be at or below water level
    2. Prepare your vase first and give it the flower food or a homemade version with a splash of bleach and sugar water.
    3. Cut your stems and immediately place in water. Many flowers close up within a minute or two of cutting.
    4. Change your water after day four. Again, give a fresh cut.
The flower business is an incredible drain on the earth. The least we can do is be responsible by helping the product last as long as possible.

You feel like a philanthropist, even on a modest income, by regularly giving even a small amount to an organization that helps people in dire situations, such as having a sick child or a disabled veteran spouse, who don't how they will survive when one has to quit a job to become caretaker, and medical costs and bills are piling up. I think so many people have changed their perspective this past year. At some point people realize that having the most luxurious car on their street is not what makes you rich. Neither is the million dollar house. Rich is happy. Rich is appreciating what you have. Rich is loving and sharing. Rich is treating people like you want to be treated. Rich is not monetary, it's a feeling and all the things you listed give us those feelings.
You've learned some very wise lessons at a very young age. You have a gift and are gracious enough to share it. You are rich! 🌹
And since the pandemic started, I feel rich now that I can buy "good" toilet paper again. Oh yeah. 🙂

I took a huge pay cut in 2013 and it has remained almost the same to the penny. I am so with you. I had to change how I'm living NOW, and live off of this income instead of continuing to live as I had before. I sure miss it. But, that is real life. I have sheets and towels I love and I just drag the sheets off the bed, into the washer, back on the bed. One set you love is better than 10 you hate.

My income has changed too and not getting as much. I'm working towards that income again but realize it'll take time. I'd still rather save money for quality sheets and towels than have to buy cheap ones again after a year.

And orchids look classy! I know they aren’t cool, but silk orchids can look real. As a teacher, I left my “orchid” at school over the summer, and when I came back in the fall, my custodian was so relieved that she hadn’t let it die over the summer! Once a week she’d soak it in the sink, then put it on my desk in the sunlight for the rest of the week.. she about died when I thanked her profusely then told her it was never ALIVE.

    • @georgias701
      @georgias701 2 года назад

Absolutely! And they don't bother my allergies! They are the only fresh flower that I have been able to have in the house.
I used to admire them but thought I would never be able to keep them alive because they look so exotic. They're SO easy. Just put 2 ice cubes (or equivalent water) on them once a week. That's it. The blooms last for months, and even after the blooms are gone, we like to have the plants around for the greenery. (I'm hoping to figure out how to get them to bloom again.)
Sam's Club often has them for $13.

Living below your means is the first and most important advice I give to younger couples!! I was blessed to be able to buy a beautiful but modest house when I was 24 and single with one tiny dog. Since then, a husband, 2 (going on 3) kids, and another dog have moved in. The house is getting small and we've considered a bigger house so many times, and honestly we could afford a nice place in our ridiculously expensive city. But being comfortable financially has done so much for our marriage and family/personal peace. The extra bedrooms or bigger yard just isn't worth the stress. We're able to live comfortably, not worry when expenses come up, eat organic, be generous, and save a nice safety net without feeling the strain. Buy a safe, heavy car but don't make it fancy. Buy the good quality upgrades for your house when you need them, but don't install a pool or $10,000 piano you won't use. No one needs $900 shoes. The peace you'll feel saving that money is worth ALL the material stuff and more.

When we got rid of our debt, we started putting what we were paying each month debt wise into a savings account and kept living on that budget (so was below our means) and when we look at the bank now we have such a pleasant surprise. It really helps put our minds at ease knowing we have that money if something happens.

I’m loving the idea of getting out of debt, even though mine is quite small compared to many’s.
And it’s a great idea to take that same amount, or even a portion of it, and have it put into savings each month. 💞👍🏼✨

In 2013 I had a stroke at work. This resulted in a big loss of wages and rather an identity crisis (who was I without my career?). This was an excellent video. You should be a guest on Dave Ramsey. This was wonderful. For me, I feel rich when I have cash in my pocket, just $5 of wiggle money is enough. To me, that makes a big difference so that I don't feel stifled by my budget. Access to beautiful music and art makes me feel richer than a Vanderbilt. I agree with you on amazing coffee. It's worth the effort. I try to make time to just sit and be grateful. Gratitude is something no one else can do for you, and that no one can prevent you from doing. I so agree on the pajamas!! What makes me feel rich is when I buy 2 or 3 sets of bed sheets that are so soft and awesome to the touch that I don't want to get out of bed. Makes me feel like I'm in a luxury hotel. Also my Clinique face creams. I can't use anything with fragrance in it so this is something I have to use. And my shower time is important to me. But my bath gel or soaps can smell good but not linger on my body due to my sense of smell is very sensitive. Not to picky on toilet paper so I'm good there.

I just found your channel not too long ago and I love it. Alot of what you talk about is what I already know but hearing it from you, so calm, so kind, so passionate and understanding of what life is in reality gives me the little push I need. I've done such a better job at getting started and getting rid of things that I don't need or are unnecessary. Although I've had 2 items (cleaning items) that I trashed because I hadn't needed them for a couple of years only to need them like a week or 2 later. 🤭😆 I was okay with that because 99.9999999% of everything else I threw out was worth it and it only cost me a few bucks to buy it again.
I found that once they were gone, actually picked up by the garbage folks or taken to a charity, my anxiety over it was COMPLETELY gone IMMEDIATELY. It was an amazing feeling. I still have more to do because I only tackle organizing and purging here and there...when I have time, but I'm honestly loving getting back to this fresh feeling. I don't know how I fell off of that wagon in the first place but I'm climbing back on. Thank you so much!

Shopping local feels good snd makes one a healthy participant in the community. Some tips aren’t doable for some since a reasonable salary is not available to so many. I like your ending. I visited a small town in Mexico a long time ago and was impressed with how happy the seemingly poor people there were. They had each other. They were rich in family and community.

Five Star Video! The psychology behind the closet sooo true. Living in a studio I went a step further and have my closet down the street in in a quality storage unit. It's a 10x10 and the expense is a write off as I
Keep my photography equip there too. It's a thrill that it's so organized. But not cluttering up my space in my studio. I can walk ten min. To get fancy clothes because dates are planned. Yes beauty routine. Also use Groupon for monthly spa day. Make it an event. And when it comes to the flowers I do vases from thrift shop world, you can find some gorgeous ones beyond plain glass. I change the arrangement and vase once a month, doing dried or silk flowers with some real cut flowers snuck in. Any good florist will sell you 3 to 4 individual stems. Go consistently create a relationship with your florist and it's a win win. Used work in the industry so I know this to be true. Staying clean and organized makes you feel better because it requires self disciple, and it can make you feel more secure. The other thing is you can have a few elegant bottles of olive oils or vinegrettes in your panty. Pretty is pleasing to the eye and by nature some of us are esthetics.
