  • STAR CITIZEN - DESTROYER OF WORLDS - AEGIS JAVELIN
In this video i take a look at a very powerful ship in star Citizen the Aegis Dynamics Javelin and in particular the UEE Warhammer. Thanks to the Invictus event i was able to get up close and personal with the mighty destroyer. Heavily armed and potent this capital ship will be a significant threat and deterrent around the verse. Requiring a large crew to operate the Javelin has numerous onboard facilities as well as tactical rooms for military operations. This Vessel will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with around the verse.

The Aegis Javelin, a powerful weapon in the verse. This ship offers plenty of fire power and I look forward to its arrival in the verse however long that maybe. But what do you guys think of the Javelin?? As always let me know down below!!

Just got a Javelin this IAE. It's the flagship in my personal fleet that I'm building to be crewed by my org. With the Javelin at the center, it will be supported by a Kraken and Kraken Privateer loaded with F8C and Gladius fighters. There is an Idris-M for additional support, and a Hammerhead for fighter suppression. The fleet is also supported by an Endeavor Hope for medical, an Orion for mining and refining Quantanium, and a Starfarer for refueling. The Javelin also has a Vulcan onboard for repairs while deployed.

My absolte dreamjob on the javelin would be a gunner of one of those 6 sideturrets, or even one of the two big ones. At the end having the honor of working on this massive beast will be so rewarding and I can't wait to be part of it one day :D

I think these type of ships are frickin awesome. The realization is, Logistics and personnel are going to be a Bitch. First spawn points, are you going to be able to put it away and where. I don't see any of these being planet side and docking stations will have to be monstrous. Just think about loading supplies. The biggest thing is keeping one manned. Everyone that plays will want to pursue their own goals with their own ships at some point. Its the very same question we asked with just a Carrack and Polaris. This is 10 fold. I can see these as a ORG weekly event type thing or escort for Orion's and Hull Es

the answer is hirable npcs and make it automatically work, just have npc stand there and the whatever works by itself and you can fly it solo.
otherwise yeah if you would try to man it with real players it will be a big disapointment.

  • @valorunkommon799
    @valorunkommon799 2 года назад +4

Love the video! Thanks for putting this all together. I do wonder how robust they plan on making the AI system down the road to support ships like this. Owners certainly went into their purchase knowing that the manning requirement is exorbitant, to say the least, but realistically getting that many people all together to just role play on one of these things at the same time, for the same duration is going to be almost impossible. Add on top of that the high cost to operate the ship and I doubt we'll really see any of these operating outside the largest of orgs unless AI becomes a passable alternative to human manning. Of course, then there's still the question of operating costs... Who knows, in the future, there may be a "hire a crew" function that allows people wanting to crew to connect with owners of capital ships.
I am glad someone else finally brought up the bridge. The rule of cool seems to leave the important crew far too exposed in a battle. Wouldn't it make more sense to have the battle managed from a battle bridge tucked away somewhere inside the main body? Even the 890J has a battle bridge, lol. BTW, you're always welcome to crew mine ;)

I will be using it as a bat. No crew needed, I might even attempt to fit it through the rings around space stations - some may say it's a waste, I call it a simple dream.

  • @BradAhrens

Excellent video. The Javelin is insane. I'll definitely be crew on one for a while, it's inevitable. Having an important role on a Jav would be insane in a fleet battle. Probably a top gaming moment and memory.
I also can't wait for SQ42. It's weird how many people I've seen say that they don't want SQ42 because it's hindering development on the PU which is reasonable, but SQ42 is going to be bonkers. I'm confident in that because it has to be bonkers, and when CIG has challenges they meet them regardless of how long it will take.

Still always get confused by the "A Javelin needs fighter escorts to live!" comments I see online often. What does a Javelin need fighters to protect it from? If fighters are going to slaughter a Javelin that doesn't have fighter escorts, then why even take a Javelin? Just bring fighters to do everything since they are the top of the food chain. Imo with how many crew its needed to run this ship the Jav should be self sufficient able to take on any size of ships as big or lower. Fighter squad attacks it? PDS systems, size 4 guns on turrets. Caps? S9 quads and s7s. The only time I see a Jav should need escorts is in a fleet engagement where the opponent has a large fleet.
Even during Invictus the gunner girl says that the ship is built to operate alone on missions. This is why the guns are all different sized to take on any size of target. It should NOT be weak and useless without fighter escorts.
Yeah I don't agree with the Polaris captains believing they will take out a javelin easy on their own. Its wishful thinking.
Good video with quite some depth into the ship. Unfortunately its unlikely CIG knows what they want to do with this ship themselves either.

During WW2, aircraft killed a lot of battleships, not all the aircraft can trade whit Javelin, but those that have torpedo can, if you have no fighters to help you to find and Kill torpedo bombers Javelin can sink.

I REALLY hope CIG sees the missed opportunity with the Javelin, Look at the rear shot that space in the middle of all the engines would be PERFECT for a rear hanger similar to the galaxies! If it happens to be close to the medical bay would be the best solution for rolling in patients from ships.. fingers crossed!

I honestly cannot wait for this to be buyable in game, working your way w friends and allies from next to nothing to having a pair of idris ships, a few corvettes and cruisers with this massive destroyer as a centre piece for a full on faction. god I can’t even imagine the logistics needed for something like this, I mean the pay for potentially recruitable AI crew members as well as food for them and so on, combined with fuel and ammunition costs for just the javelin alone, let alone the rest of whatever you want to run.
I can imagine there being large scale faction wars with ships of the javelin and idris type w potentially other similar scale ships to come, some of the, being the biggest seen on the internet since eve online (wasn’t that the one with those massive wars and battles?)
Either way I’m stoked about this, working my way up from being an average person to possibly running a massive faction w dozens of people in it, dozens of fighters and capital ships of various sizes just makes me want this more and more! hoping it isn’t too far off
Curious question tho, what would everyone call their javelin? I’d prolly call mine either implacable or indomitable, or any number of things, maybe dragon ❤️

As far as player ships go- anything that doesn't break TOS. If you're talking in lore, the UEE Navy does try to follow themes- All Javelins are named for weapons, All Bengals are named for Wild cats, all Perseus are named for Mythological heroes, all Idris are named for UEE star systems...

an easy fix for the javelins main guns, is to lower the bridge tower / removing 1 floor there if they can. it would allow the main guns to fire over it and widen the firing arc immensely

this thing will be a pain to crew with a full set of players. you would need an entire org. if they added AI crew members that were actually competently programmed though... it is doable. you could have a rotation of a group of players manning certain positions, and AI managing whatever is not filled. that is the one way to feasibly run this thing. because members in an org will want to do their own things, and won't want to be stuck on a single ship all the time. it would mostly be for larger or more organized and serious orgs for a long term use ship. but any org could handle taking it out on the occasional excursion.

Well it has a max crew capacity of 80, that is counting 20 people for 2 10 man marine boarding crews which you don’t need, I forget how many ships fit in the hanger but it would be 4-8 people to man those, you could fully man a javelin with 40 people and have the major functions covered by 20-30 people. To my understanding they have the number at 80 for a rotating crew so basically you only need half of the max number for a fully functioning ship and even less people to make it viable and usable, not to say it is easy to get 20-30 people doing the same thing in a game but with ai crew and blades i think it’s totally possible to man one with less than 20 people but we’ll have to wait and see i guess
