    When it comes to lore I would like to add that the first Bengal we have ever seen is the UEE Paul Steed, not named after a cat but rather an old friend of Chris Roberts, Paul Steed was the modeler who made the graphics of CR's seminal game "wing commander" and sadly passed away in 2012.

    While the Bengal may be smaller than Vanduul capital ships, that's mostly because Vanduul ships are dual purpose.
    The Vanduul Driller isn't just a battleship, it's a heavy industrial mining ship.
    The Vanduul Kingship isn't just a carrier, it's a city ship that houses vast populations.
    The Bengal is a pure warship, and needs no space for anything other than that which will enhance its warfighting capability.

    • @hansyolo9649
      @hansyolo9649 Год назад +3

      Is that a confirmed fact about the Kingship? I thought Vanduul clans leave their children and women on some kind of homeworld and there's no need for a city ship. They just harvest material and bring it back home is my understanding. Maybe I'm completely wrong lol :D

      We know that the Vanduul are nomadic, and there are no known Vanduul planets. Nor do they seem to settle on any of the planets they conquer. I’m pretty sure Kingships are the core of Vanduul civilization, and house civilian populations, but I can’t find it written on the wiki. Open to correction if anyone knows.

      Unless the ships are segregated by sex, (the US navy does this with submarines, there was even an all female submarine crew) or that particular Vanduul ship dropped off its women and children before going into battle, or maybe Vanduul are like clowfish and can change their sex when it's time to mate. :p There are a lot of unknowns, but perhaps the idea that Vanduul have other "colony ships" that house their civilian population is the simplest explanation.

    • @Synthmilk
      @Synthmilk 9 месяцев назад

      This is entirely possible with the existence of temporary jump points. A large jump point might open up leading into an unknown system past the Vanduul front lines. The UEE dreams of a second front opening up right in the middle of Vanduul territory and sends a Bengal Strike Group to secure a beach head. Whoops! The jump point collapses during transit, destroying many ships and severely damaging all the rest, with only the mighty Bengal coming through without drydock level repairs needed. Before the UEE sent a fleet, a bunch of gold-rush types and others who wanted away from the UEE had gone through, so there was also a sizeable amount of civilians on the other side, but in much better condition than the UEE ships. So the UEE Navy ships need to negotiate with the less than friendly civilians for repairs and supplies, which is quickly devolving into a fight, when a Vanduul force arrives in-system, catching the civilians utterly off guard, since they lept before looking and didn't know they were inside Vanduul space.
      So now the civilians need the UEE Navy to protect against the Vanduul and the UEE Navy needs the civilians to repair and man their ships to cover their losses, while they do their best to keep ahead of the Vanduul and try to find their way back to the UEE.

    Watching stuff like this makes me really exited for the prospective future of this game. The way I see it. the peak of the game will come when it has an extensive amount of capital class shits that can house different groups of other ships for different attack functions. Much like the US navy has. So I imagine that the majority of the ships in the game are smaller to mid size corvette classes. Fast agile, small crews but most used for defensive functions on other bigger ships in say a massive space battle ( or for quick attacks on ground targets). Really want to eventually see a design for a huge carrier capital ship. A ship that has very little guns but room for up to at least 6 ish smaller fighter or medium fighter classes. Something like that could also be designed differently either on its own or as a roll in a squad depending on if its space or ground offensive.

    Quite likely Bengal Carrier class has 476x5 for there are 3 shifts per day, and weekends, just to operate the ship, add the ait group for each fighter or craft there are further 15 crew, so for 200 crafts there'll be further 3000 crew, add to this security detachment of 200, command and control further 100 and last logistics, cooks, medics, education, transport, supply, support, maintenance and so on. You're looking at the crew of around 500 crew. So total crew of one Bengal Carrier could be around 6400~ and not forgetting when Marines are on-board at least a battalion group = 1700 marines. So roughly 8000 crew on the ship in times of war.

      While I realize this is more conjecture and hypothesizing, CR has explicitly stated on multiple occasions that the Bengal would never be available for pledge from backers and that "civilian owned" Bengals will only be a thing in the game on or after release and through a very extensive and expensive salvage and repair op and in very limited quantities.
      However, If they hypothetically ever backtracked on that stance, I could see it going for anywhere from $10k to $15K and even upwards of $20k - $30k+ and would expect to see it as a one-time promotion with 1-5 ships available or a limited Invictus promotion with 1 or 2 ships available for pledge yearly over a few years. Then there's the possibility of ship packs, the Bengal being a Carrier and all, any ships they decided to add would just inflate the massive price tag even further. The Bengal already having been shown to be capable of carrying everything from Arrows and Scorpii to full Retaliator bomber squadrons.
      It'd literally be a PTW scenario countered only by the fact that it takes literally hundreds of players/npcs to operate at any efficiency not counting the crews for the ships onboard.
      Still, a fun theory to think about, and I could see it appealing to a wide range of orgs from militia to Null and low-sec industrialist to, dare I say, Larger Pirate orgs.

In the game I think players start on small idris frigate and eventually they'll end up on a large Bengal class carrier fighting Vanduul, if you ever played starlancer and wing commander, this is what I expect to happen with the Squadron 42 game, which is totally fine by me, loved both games and grew up with both games.
    One thing that I would perhaps suggest to developers is to re-size warships a tad bit, if you'd want to have at least some degree of classical model physics in place, fuel and engine area, as well as bays that hold fighters. You can't build space ships like a naval warships. Also, powerful magnetic/gravity deflectors and shields are a must on all warships, which requires great deal of energy + fuel + volume. So realistically speaking. Bengal should be at least 1.5km and Javelin Destroyers at least 700m, Frigates at least 300-320m and corvettes at least 150m.

The Bengal has shields as well, its cruiser gutting rail guns can fire forward as well as to the side (possibly behind as well) whereas the ISD is mainly configured for broadside firing, and while it might carry a little less strikecraft they are of a much higher quality (they all have shields, have more firepower than a TIE, and can change their facing while still keeping their momentum which makes them effectively far more maneuverable). If the Bengal can keep its distance there is a very good chance its fighters will overcome the TIEs allowing Talis and gladiators to make attack runs on the ISD which don't have great point defense.

    Just a watched video of the problems of the 2 seater fighters in game and realised that the Bengal sort of has the same problem. The design seems to be inspired by current (2023) carriers that use atmospheric fighters not space fighters. Like why is a launch runway needed? The space ships can literally just move in any direction from stationary. Just an open hanger door would suffice.

    • @CareerKnight
      @CareerKnight Год назад

      Its probably because a runway shape is convenient for both storing, launching, and maintaining the fighters without compromising the hull. While it could have multiple entrances all along the hull that would create a lot of weak points in the structure.

      @danielc2701 Год назад

      I can think of one reason, to get enough speed so that it can safely clear the perimeter. If a fighter starts off too slow before it gets tossed out, 1- it is easily hit by weapons waiting for it to launch, the faster you go, the less time a gunner has to get off a shot and 2- if the carrier itself is moving, being too slow might get you slapped into the hull if it was rolling.

      SC has a very specific niche it goes for when it comes to combat. It's a hybrid of flight sim and WW2 dog fighting. There are many reasons for this, mostly because of gameplay, but it results in fights being a lot closer than they would normally be even today.
      That being said the UEE routinely puts down Vanduul raids and skirmishes with ease. However the Vanduul just don't stop coming. Their social structure means that the Vanduul will be drawn in greater numbers to conflict looking to score glory for themselves and their tribes/clans/hordes. As they have done this they also have learned to recon with small raiding parties, figure out the strength of the UEE forces in a system, and then send in massive waves of forces to attack without warning.
      As for space combat the Vanduul specialize in ambush attacks so often UEE ships don't know they are even there until they have closed the distance significantly. While they also prefer Melee that doesn't mean they don't fight at ranged, when doing so they prefer large beefy weapons to lob at their enemies. Their ships being designed to ram straight into another ship of similar size also means that they are really tough to crack.
      When it comes to in person Vanduul have been seen to survive the vacuum of space without suits on, their skin is natural armor so it requires well placed shots or armor piercing rounds to crack their carapace. There is something called 'violence of action' which means if you close the distance to an opponent, even without a really good idea of what you are doing or even similarly armed, you can cause them to freeze. It's also an issue of preparedness, if someone with a knife charges at you while you aren't ready for them, even with a weapon in hand, they can often close the distance and stab you before you can fire an accurate round off. Combine nimble, fast, strong, and tough Vanduul warriors with this you can see that even the best trained soldiers would struggle to deal with the urgent advance of a determined Vanduul.

And if you think the Idris' death-tube (railgun) is bad, this thing can bitchslap a capital ship with four spicy SUVs moving at mach-feck in one volley. I personally don't want to pick a fight with it.

      There's a clip of Terada in an M2 flying around the Bengal and it one shots him 😂

    There's really no telling when this ship will ever be in-game, CIG can/will tell us whatever but it's still undetermined and to have over 400+ on one ship and in live server is unknown. Let alone, CIG's servers are questionable.

      It's been in game already and the over 400+ number is from official CIG sources published last week.

      @@TheAstroHistorian Chris' perfectionism worries me a little bit, I pray to god they don't create 400 unique NPCs with background stories like they did for the UEES Stanton...
