  • Today we discuss the flexible and reliable backbone of the UEE Navy, the Aegis Javelin. Over 3 generations of ships it has proven to be a bulwark against pirates and Vanduul alike with it's speed, firepower, and modularity. This includes the famous UEES War Hammer, the shield of the Stanton System.

    I just hope my org is able to put together a big fleet with one of these spearheading the whole thing. A Javelin, a few hammerheads, and a bunch of vanguards and Gladiuses (Gladi?), redeemers, Sabres, retaliators, and maybe an Idris or two. It would take a hell of a lot of manpower, and probably very overkill for most things, but goddammit it would be epic to have it all flying in formation or something.

      As a javelin owner, it seems only you guys are salty!
      I fully expect it being expensive to pull the ship out and it being an occassion that you have to save up for with other ships making you money. Perhaps something you do with an org for a specific mission, like a vanduul raid.
      I don't think many javelin owners expect to be able to just float around in the ship with no cost, in fact, I think the whole idea is that it's supposed to be a challenge!

      @@Tom--Ace You must not have ever gone on Spectrum, but that's a good thing. There is a VERY prevalent amount of people that demand to solo ships Connie sized and bigger, it's not an insignificant number of people. Yes, they're very ignorant of the game and where it is going, but that doesn't mean they are out there. I almost pity the people that bought these massive fleets yet aren't in orgs or have no friends, because they'll be very much sorry that they did

    I think designing the new generation of Javelin would make for a good contest, another "The next great starship design." Maybe the frame could be modified somewhat to distinguish military Javelin from those sold to civilians/citizens.
    I would've liked to see more stats on the gen 3 Javelin such as crew compliment and traveling capabilities.

  • @Synthmilk
    @Synthmilk Год назад +1

    Has CIG's writing team written anything to match the huge number of Javelin's sold to players, vs the small number of Javelin's we've seen in cinematics or on tour during Fleet Week?

    • @TheAstroHistorian
      @TheAstroHistorian  Год назад

      Javelins are super common in the verse and the ones sold to players are all mothballed ones. The one we have been touring is the same one every year, the UEES War Hammer. So I don't quite know what the question is, but yes the lore team accounts for the massive number of them out there. They are so common they are often the anchor of a battlegroup over the Bengal.

    The videos you make are really good, but I have to correct you on one thing. If you take a cruiser or battle cruiser (which is really just a cruiser that is more heavily armed) from the present or even past time. Whereby the areas of operation and armament has changed greatly over time, then they have one thing in common whereby earlier more important than today, they could fight any opponent who could catch up with you and drive away from all other types of ships. So for me it is wrong to say cruisers or battlecruisers are slow. Of course, these data, doctrines from seafaring and Star Citizen is something else again.

    • @TheAstroHistorian
      @TheAstroHistorian  Год назад +1

      Based on the star citizen lore cruisers are slow and large. If transposed to our current ships IRL the Javelin would be a Cruiser class but the UEE Cruiser and Battleship classes are massive sizes in comparison. Effectively Cruisers are designed as more flexible battleships bristling with guns and are faster but lack armor, while Battleships are heavy, big, slow, and devastating. AFAIK Cruisers and Battleships have been phased out of the UEE Navy because they were more vulnerable to faster hit and run attacks and weren't worth the upkeep cost when you could build and run a Javelin squadron for the same cost.
