#neverforgetpegasus
Rip to a real one we hardly knew.
Was the Pegasus scrapped and I missed it?
@Jonathan nah, we just have almost no info on it. Which is sad.
@@Iamawsomeazing actually, it might have been trashed, last time they did an RSI write up of ships they didn't mention it
While mentioning literally every other RSI ship in live, production, and concept.
“Never be able to fly some of these ships” some dude with a tractor beam, and a Smoltz, going around hijacking them. Just you wait it’s gonna happen.
Space Rednecks: Hold my Smoltz
I like big ships and I cannot lie. You other pilots can't deny. When a vessel sails in with a radar trace and a railgun in your face you get SPRUNG.
Love it man 🤟
ultra lol
More like turned to dust
I love how the Idris' upscaling- in reality because a corvette was deemed too small for sq42- was given an in-universe explanation
That's the thing, everything gets an in-fiction explanation when it changes
I got the game 2 weeks ago and I can attest that the game has had a HUGE boost in popularity due to the surge in RUclipsrs trying out the game (jackfrags, LevelCapGaming for me) plus the free fly event.
I also brought in my SO and we’re having a BLAST playing the game together. Love your videos and I’m looking forward to seeing more of them!
I do like big ships, well curated video!
I second that!
you forgot the best one...the KRAKEN !
This is cool but, I would love a lore breakdown of the Drake Capital Ship Kraken 😁😁
watching a Bengal fight some HH's was the craziest thing I've seen in any space game yet.. those quad railguns are insane
They don't call them "Ship Busters" for nothing.
Good job. I hope this video blows up like a 'Dul in a minefield.
Another great one paul.
don't forget. the algorythm loves likes and comments in the first hour.
Nice little Starter-Ship, that Bengal.
Finally not crashing the ship at the Spacestation during landing anymore. It destroys the whole Station instead... 😂
To bad it isn't a starter ship and only way to get one is find a derelict one in space which there may be only one. You have to repair it and refit it with everything. It will also be persistent (never logs out always in game 24/7) so you will always have to have a big group on to man it if you want to keep it. It will be a target for everyone on the server and only the biggest guilds will probably have one.
These ships look so real. I hope that humanity manages to build something like this one day.
bro is calling me broke in 5 different ways
Just for those into fin doming.
Another banger! just makes me even more hyped for the Polaris lol
When Sq42 finally releases, it's the Retribution I'm most excited to see in action.
If you look at the design of the ship, I think it has something bigger than the 130mm ship buster railguns. If you look at the middle of the ship, you'll see a scaffold structure with a hole going through the middle.
I strongly believe the ship has an axial super railgun that has not been listed in its specs yet
Perhaps a Bengal sized torpedo launcher.
@@niklasdahlgren7641 a railgun or beam weapon is more likely.
They might have reverse engineered the beam weapon we've seen on one of the mid sized Vanduul capital ships.
Like the MAC on UNSC ships in Halo.
@@AuburnTigers111 That's what the Idris' main gun is, I think? And the Bengal has 4x of them!
Great video ❤
What about the Pegasus escort carrier ?
Great work as always Paul
I’ve missed these, great video
Excellent video! Makes me look forward to playing Squadron 42.
bro you put do much effort into videos you're so underrated
Quality content!
Amazing vid ty
Great video!
I vote for the Orion next!
Great show
Do you know where the Retribution was stationed? Any details on range or speed? How did it negotiate the warp holes?
It was built in the Skydocks of MacArthur in the Killian System.
Correction for the Bengal: I'm pretty sure it's actually 130 METERS gun (referring to the lenght, of course), 130mm of caliber is ridiculously small for a ship like that
And I know it's not really your fault, I've seen that "130mm guns" description about the Bengal somewhere, can't remember if it's on the RSI website too or just in the Wiki page
Anyways, it's just better to refer to them with the in-game gun sizes, and even though it's not directly stated anywhere by CIG, by exporting the game's gun models and comparing them we can see that the Bengal's Ship Buster cannons are Size 12s
130mm, but at ULTRA HIGH SPEED because railgun = just as deadly, if not more, than a bigger round. armor piercing because smaller round
130mm is the size of the rounds the gun fires, which for a railgun is fucking massive.
You always refer to a gun by the size of the round it fires. The Iowa battleships for example have 9 16 inch guns, because they fire 16 inch rounds
@@phantomwraith1984 No you don't, modern 120mm guns firing subcaliber ammo are still called 120mm because their _bore diameter_ is 120mm
Just wanted to add that 130mm is absolutely TINY for the sizes of guns we have in the verse. For comparison a modern Abrams tank uses a 120mm cannon and the entirety of the tank itself is just under 10m long. That would roughly be the equivalent to a S5 gun. No way the Bengal's guns are that small. I'd expect the bore diameter to be over a meter for those guns easily.
@@Authmion I forgot about this, but anyways, just confirmed that the caliber of Bengal's main guns is 3.6 meters, i.e. 3600mm
The design of the Retribution tells me it's built around ONE massive kingship killer weapon, basically a "yamato cannon".
The Yamato had 3 sets of 3 main guns
Most likely the Retribution is a deterrent to keep the vanduul from thinking its safe to go in and take the systems with their kingship. The Vanduul can't risk losing their kingship since that's their home for all their people.
@@Oxley016Not the 40s Yamato, the SciFi refit with a nuclear-pumped plasma beam cannon.
@@michaelmichaelagnew8503It's also the place they respawn after their Banzai tactics.
what are you talking about @@JoshSweetvale
Nice one
Thanks a lot
5:34 10? *Grins brightly* i Shall forgett my Corsair
I really want to see the Polaris in game. It is such a cool ship, and versatile too. Capable of being the flagship of a small 4-6 player skeleton crew, serving as more of a mobile base. Still capable of defending itself with turrets, and packing a punch with the huge torpedoes. These huge torpedoes also serving the purpose of cruise missiles against ground targets.
Or when fully crewed, capable of being a serious threat in large scale navy battles, using hit and run tactics.
a comment to please our almighty overlord with engagement to feed the algorithm!
I am really looking forward to command a Polaris in to battle.
Why aren’t there any Battleships or Cruisers in the UEE Navy? Or is CIG keeping them secret for Sq42 campaign?
I think they’re based on modern ship types so that function is carried out by destroyers
best thanks
apparently there are 2 more class that look like the Bengal carrier that we will see in squadron 42
What about the RSI Pegasus ?
nothing about the escort carrier Pegasus class ?
isn't it something like 1 or 2 other Retribution class dreadnought in construction ?
great vid by the way, I love lore videos
rip pegasus
yeah the pegasus even has train stations in it cause its so huge
I have a Polaris, but umm, I do more or less plan to play solo, so I shall see.
I still cant understand the concept of equipping ships with anti-matter warheads.
I mean, I guess if you really wanna kill something, I guess.. screw everything around it? whilst reducing it to radiation? ehh
Lets make a corvette thats now *ahem* bigger than a corvette.. launch 28 eight of these suckers! ..can we rename it to the Genocider?
Anywho, I also like the fact that now.. the Polaris, which was supposed to be a small capital ship, has grown.. quite significantly too!
Antimatter warheads are the 'fuck you and the cotenant you are on' weapons. Likely developed in the panic after first contact with the Xi'an.
I want them
They need some cruiser class ships in the game; light, medium and heavy cruiser ships
The classification system is very different from modern ships. A Frigate is effectively a Destroyer and a Destroyer is effectively a Cruiser in the UEE. There have been mentions of Cruisers and Battleships in the UEE fleet but they far older than modern fleet classifications and have little more than a single sentence mentioned in lore.
@@TheAstroHistorian what class are the hammerhead and the perseus?
@@kaollachan They are gunships. They don't have the Corvette classification.
The Hammerhead is an Anti-Fighter Gunship
The Perseus is an Anti-Large Ship Gunship
Basically the Perseus is made to take on ships like the Polaris and the Idris (It has the torpedoes to do so and the S7 ballistic cannons can deal a huge amount of damage. The Polaris is screwed if it gets into a Melee with the Perseus.)
@@HunterSteel29 thank, i did know about the target's foàr the perseus ^^ was just curious of the classification ( i have one and can t wait for it). also hammerhead + perseus should be a good combo as they cover each other weakness
@@kaollachan Gunships
I hope CIG implements Airshields for all ships from Docking Bay, Cargo Bay, Docking Doors, and Airlocks so the ship will not suffer a catastrophic depressurization and decompression that could damage the ship's internal structures and systems or even destroy the ship and kill all its crew as oxygen plummets and the coldness and vacuum of space boils every blood of all organic being inside killing them instantly.
you didnt speak about the pegasus?
It might not exist any more, wasn't mentioned last RSI ship write up
You're incorrect about the Javelin having a bespoke MPUV bay. The Idris has the dedicated MPUV bay, not the Javelin.
All cap ships from the Idris up have MPUV bays, which is why you get one when you buy them
@@TheAstroHistorian I've always wondered why I had an MPUV. I've had an Idris since 2014 but its only the P. I'll probably never fly it either since It will require a decent size crew.
You missed 1 Paul, between the Bengal and the Retribution
Lets hope it doesn't one shot light fighters. Because that'd be "imbalanced."
How many Starfareres does it take to fuel a Bengal or the Retribution?
It's said that Bengals carry 20 years of fuel with them and we have no idea about the Retribution.
@@TheAstroHistorian Thanks, I obviously didn't know that. Using current warships an example. U.S. supercarriers are nuclear powered and can go 25 years or so before they have to be refueled while most of the rest of the Navy ships are diesel powered. I have to guess then that it is the same with the UEE, in that, the Bengals don't use hydrogen fuel for propulsion and use something else.(?)
@@The_Opinion_of_Matt Nuclear thermal propulsion was being developed by NASA in the 60s and 70s but was shut down by Nixon. Nuclear propulsion is way more efficient than conventional chemical propulsion and would have cut journeys to mars in half even back then. Just think what could be done with nuclear fusion technology in the future!
@@Oxley016 Cool, never heard that before. I've heard Russia was developing a nuclear engine for missiles and that it could just keep flying for years waiting for target coordinates while raining down radioactive material during the entire flight.
More recently I know NASA has been testing plasma engines. I think a few space mission may have used plasma engines.
@@The_Opinion_of_Matt NASAs project was called NERVA and naturally any rocket technology developed for the space program would have ended up being adapted to military missile technology where possible. Plasma sounds interesting, that is one I shall have to look up.
Why didn't you say any of these ships sizes and length
2:20 I'm sorry even the Polaris is a planetary threat? How much has the lore changed since I followed this like 5 years ago?
Antimatter torpedoes have always been said to be able to decimate planets or even destroy moons in enough volume. The references to this come from the Siege of Tiber where Antimatter torpedoes were used to the point where Tiber 2 earned the nickname tomb and during the 78th Squadrons attack on a moon of Ferron towards the end of the Messer Era.
@@TheAstroHistorian Those are probably going to be so expensive that only the military will have them and only a few ships out of them will.
It's happening it's happening the algorithm is on the lose!
what actually happens (in-game) if you try to enter / land on a planet with these huge ships?
Cool video!
You crash...
The Polaris and Idris are capable of operating and landing in atmosphere but the others are too big and not designed to do so and would indeed crash.
1 lost bengal?
someone has to say it. nucular.
These Capitol Ships look AWESOME. !! I know this may sound like a silly question but can you hire NPC crew members. ??
Not right now but it is a planned feature
@@TheAstroHistorian Oh AWESOME thanks. !! 😁
Where are these ships in game???
Polaris is still being worked on, Idris can be seen in some of the combat missions, Javelins & Bengals show up during special events, and the Retribution will be in SQ 42.
The Bengal needs a serious facelift... They try too hard to make the ships look different at the expense of appeal...
Nah I quite like it
Polaris is not a capital, it comparable in size to the carrack
I'm sorry 130 mm? That's way too small, I think you meant 1300 millimetres for a ship of it's size
It's an error on CIGs side if it's an error.
A comment for the Comment God.
pegasus?
The day that retribution goes up for sale is the day my wife leaves me 🥲
You are lucky then because that ship will never be for sale.
