  • STAR CITIZEN - MY FLEET & THE REASONS BEHIND IT 2 !
In todays video we re visit my fleet. Although there are less ships in my fleet this time around the size of said ships has increased. Rather than have many ships that fulfill different roles i have tried to condense it so i have ships that have the capability to function in a wide array of roles in the verse. Some ships will stay, some may leave the fleet in the future, the great thing about ships in the verse, is there is no right or wrong. These ships i feel will offer me the best possible experiance in the star citizen universe allowing me to tap into all the varied game loops.

My fleet an evergrowing, changing , shape shifting experirence!
As More and more Game loops and mechanics open up as the game develops the more i find myself re organising my fleet. As it stands right now im pretty happy with it but as time presses on im sure changes will be made in the future! But what do you guys think? What does your fleet consist of? what would you change?as always let me know down below!!

In all honesty i think we have overspent on the ship fleet. Myself i own: Cutter Scout, C8R Medical pisces, Zeus Mk II ES, Corsair, Galaxy, Arrastra & BMM.
I firmly believe, that in the future. When we get the whole package, the base building, the gameplay loops & everything else..... Most of the ships we own, wont see much use.
Yet as a person who does NOT smoke, drink or spend on vacations or worker class girls, i find myself from time to time with a bit of disposable income. I got myself a few jpegs in SC .... I believe that if i eventually decide to sell my account i will find a person who will buy it - so kind of like a return on my investment is Possible? (if i decide to quit the game ever)
Yet i find myself coming back to SC quite so often. I find new ways to enjoy the game & my time spent in the verse every time i Stop playing for a while (Due to bugs) and come back always.
I truly hope that NPC crews will allow people who own such big ships, even if they Play Alone - to be able to run around in the big ships - the Capital sized ships or ones with many crew requirements - to be able to run around in them, even if it a reduced capacity. Id love to be able to Solo a ship like the BMM & just move goods around the verse.......
Lets hope we did not overspend for no reason :D

Never justify what you do with hard earned cash to anyone. Its your fleet, your hobby, your choice. No one and I mean no one is in any position to make you feel guilty. You do you! You have a good fleet and if you enjoy then its money we'll spent.

my little fleet intersects in several ships:
    F8C - 600i Ex - Corsair - MSR - Arrastra - Galaxy.
I will not bother with big combat ships like polaris, perseus or nautilus, mostly because of cost to run and to aquire, will focus more on gaining money thru professions and buying combat ships ingame.
As of now i have different a Cutter Scout instead of your Syulen as the small run around.
Vulture - aquiring other materials not minable, dont really know if they will be really needed as recycled stuff.
Will get a C8R just to have a medical capable little ship.
Not decided on a Zeus, but if so it will be a CL or ES, dont like the MR.
HULL C, not sure if it will say or move to a Liberator, i have the chain bought, will wait for the future to apply or cancel it, in the mid its a C2 and HULL D too ( D being almost out of crew requirements for me too).

I'm kind of with you on the Nautilus. As a Navy vet, my first ship was a Mine Countermeasures ship (Avenger class), so when this concept was released, I thought seriously about getting one, and I'm one of those people that has spent less on this game than many (the most expensive thing I've ever done before melting and spreading my money out was a Starfarer, because I understand the value of logistics...then they removed its ability to harvest fuel...) But that price!
It's only $25 less than a Polaris, a FAR more versatile ship that way more people want. It's the same price as a Hammerhead (already in game and also more versatile in terms of what most people will be doing in-game as either a Capital fleet picket ship to defend against Fighters or a all around good multi-crew ship for space combat, fighting pirates and NPC bounties, etc). It's $25 more than the Odyssey, which is like a smaller Polaris with an exploration focus, $50 more than the Perseus (which can also be thought of as a smaller Polaris, anti-Capital support role in a fleet while still being generally competent against smaller threats and probably cheaper to run than a Polaris needing to replace spent size 10 Torps/munitions; the Polaris is also smaller and likely faster and more maneuverable), $75 more than the Orion and Merchantman (both very desirable ships for their respective non-combat roles and capabilities), $125 more than the Carrack (a ship that can do tons of things and is highly desirable as a multi-crew ship by players), and $150 more than the Liberator (a versatile platform a lot of players will probably gravitate to as a mobile base of operations for small orgs or player friends' groups to live on and move their ships all around at once). It's nearly double the price of the Galaxy, an extremely versatile ship that people are already salivating over which can swap out modules to go from medical to cargo running to refining and back again, and likewise the Starlifter, Endeavor, and Starfarer are all specialized ships that are less than half the price.
While it will be insane if there's only ONE type of minelayer in the game and it's the Nautilus, the fact remains that price point is insane for a ship that will almost exclusively be relegated to minelaying and minesweeping operations. It has a relatively small (for that price) cargo size as far as nightlighting as a cargo runner in its off time, all its weapons are turrets so it pretty much cannot be soloed and will require 4 crew at a minimum. And its mission profile, while interesting and something nothing else in the game can do (...right now...) isn't also one-time for most players. For example, build a base and set mines around it and...don't use the ship again until you need to refresh some of the mines in 6 months. And to top it all off, it's technically not even a Capital ship, it's a "Large" instead! So the people that want the prestige of a Capital ship are going to just spring another $25 for a Polaris.
I honestly think the Nautilus should be $400-$450 price range. MAYbe $500. But it has such a limited mission profile, so little ability to do anything else (cargo, exploration, soloing, general combat; yes it has a single Size 7 turret, but...the Perseus has 2 and Size 5 Torpedoes on top of having the same number of smaller turrets, and is likely much smaller and more maneuverable). I'm just not seeing that niche as worth over $700 and at a price point where it's competing with the Polaris (a ship in way higher demand), costs more than a number of good and popular looking ships (Perseus, Merchantman, Liberator, and Galaxy just to name a FEW), and isn't even a Capital ship to justify that price.
In fact...I think it may be the most expensive non-Capital ship in the game right now?
I really want to love this ship, but it's just far too limited in role, far too specialized OF a specialized role (Starfarers are specialized, but far more people and fleets need fuel than will need mining and minesweeping), far too reliant on having a ready crew to be functional, and far too expensive to justify all of those downsides.
    .
Anyway, sorry, just a pet tirade of mine. XD But suffice to say, I agree with you.
Anyway, nice fleet! My fleet is way smaller. C8R (that I think I will upgrade to a Cutty Red, but can't decide for sure), Fury (which you can load into a Red, making it really appealing to me), and Ranger (for ground combat, currently a Dragonfly until the Ranger comes out and I can swap to it and have a useable thing in game :D). I had a Starfarer, and have considered doing it again, but it needs a serious rework and I want the cargo bay to let the C8R fit in it. If they do that, I'll get my Starfarer again. I want to do medical stuff, but need something to do in downtime, and cargo running, even if small scale, is probably what I'd go for. The Red is more soloable than the Apollo from what I can tell, the C8R is a great ambulance but I want to be able to move all my ships together if I travel, so I either need the Red as my big ship or a ship the C8R will fit into. And I liked the Starfarer since you could solo it for mining and refining and delivering fuel (until they REMOVED THE HARVESTING PART DESPITE IT BEING IN THE SALES PITCH!!! Sorry, still miffed for that...), and would be useful in fleet ops while still being solo capable but also group capable.
If I could fit my C8R in it, I'd be in love, since then I could do the things I want to do all together...

I've got the BMM for heavy cargo/daily driver, Polaris for org wars/bounty hunting homebase, the Arrastra, a C8R as my starter/rescue ship, and a fighter (haven't nailed down which one yet. Constantly melting and rebuying). I think with just those simple things you can earn down to anything else in the game. If your budget is lower or you can't be bothered CCU chaining. Get a resource gatherer, something that carries cargo, something that fights, and a starter for fast claims. You'll be set.

Closed my CCU chain for my BMM for just under 300 (285) and my Liberator during IAE! The Banu Defender was my gateway into becoming an Alien FanBoy as my fleet currently sports them as follows: Syulen, Defender, San Tok Yai, Glaive and BMM. I also got an Apollo Medivac this IAE! Another match to your fleet for me is the F8C, could NOT pass up that acquisition. Also snagged an Ares Ion due to its rebalancing along with a Zeus Mk II CL and Spirit C1. My 600i Explorer was acquired during last year's IAE as well as C8R and 315 P. That said, the only two ships of considerable size in my fleet are the Liberator & BMM (tho the Liberaator can be technically soloed).

Very similar to my end goal fleet only larger. Mine stops at the Perseus, and 600i then skips to MSR, and C1. Ares Inferno, and Vulture round out the bottom in terms of size. The Zeus CL might take the spot of the C1. If I don't have it I do have the end CCU for it thanks to IAE so things are in motion. Might pick up a C2, real curious about that new Mirai ship, the rumored F7 mk2 is also on my radar, but other than that I'm not really trying to have a massive fleet of ships.

I think there is a lot of faith in NPC here. The fleet is dominated by larger ships but really good choices in those larger ships. My fleet concentrates on scalability in areas I’m interested in. I don’t scale up more than a crew of 6.
Something to say about the 600. It has the best landing legs of any explorer. The ground clearance and the self leveling 3 landing legs makes landing easy on uneven landscapes. Also it as lifts which are more forgiving on landing spots rather than ramps.

    Excellent fleet PIN!
For the most part, still spot on with the reasons or uses I would have for these ships.
I also agree with most ppl posting here about keeping to crew sizes from 1-3.
It is at this teir where I'll be spending most of my flight hours gathering resources for the next big step - for wherever it takes me.
    Hopefully towards:
    > Perseus / Galaxy / Arrastra / 600i / Catapillar
Again, 100% agree with these ships for multirole / mid teir base - depending on the threat level of the area.
You made a good point with the Catapillar serving as a Drake version of an Endeavor, it's back on my Christmas list.
I feel the same way with the Arrastra - it has wayyy more potential than just a mining ship, like the Apollo - hey, I'm a spacer, I can turn any ship into home sweet home.
With that, all i have for now is:
    > Zeus MKII / Apollo Medivac
Intro teir multirole / daily driver / 2nd ship.
AND YES! These ships made the list!
I was obsessing over the C1, but the Zeus had more to offer, and I caught it at it's intro price - all 3 are good looking daily cruisers.
Yes! Considering how the Zeus pans out the Apollo as a second can be used as a multirole, it has SCU space, a scanner on top, mostly large components, and I bet you can get a ROC in the back.
While running boxes, rocks, cargo, or scrap, there will always be a rescue mission popping up while in transit ;)
    > Sabre / Vanguard / Ares Ion
    "The cleaner" role.
Would love a Lighting, but didn't get a golden ticket :'(
I'm still up in the air for a designated fighter, need to work on flight hours behind each.
While the saber fits, I know the heavys won't fit in any ship's hangar currently, but I consider the latter two as my sweet indulgence.
    :D

Ive all the large ships in your fleet bar the Nautilus, although i do have it in buyback, and really dont want to exceed 6-8 crew. Dont value fighters as an investment, melted the F8, kept the S-Raven, yet do have a series of loaners and a Gladius/Arrow which i adore, and have had for years.
PS: Share your concern with unknown entities on board my exotics. I think one idea is to initially crew a ship like the ''Polaris/Perseus/BMM/Orion'' is to join an ''Exotics Club'', or create one, the only stipulation is you have an exotic, place where you all learn the key crew positions within the ship....captian/commander/engineer/weapons etc, and gain important skills in managing your exotics ?.

The Polaris will be a phenomenal multi-crew/multi-purpose ship. And here's the thing: when you bust out a Polaris, you will have zero issues finding players who want to help you crew it. It will take time to sift through randoms, but eventually you'll end up with a trusted crew of 15 to help you man that ship on the regular. And it's in active production.

My ship list at the moment is a
    Polaris for org/large friend group
Galaxy for me and my consistent 2 friends
Zeus Mk II for solo cargo running (C1 for now)
Vulture because salvage is relaxing and fun
Gladius for dog fighting/fighter for the Polaris
I’m excited for when the wipe comes with pyro because the 3 ships I have right now are the
    C1
    Vulture
    Gladius

My case is somewhat a rarer one as I own a single "mother ship" and a smaller carried inside (Like Harlock has the Arcadia, Malcom has the Serenity, etc...).
Right now, I own only the Polaris with a Fury (to be upgraded to I don't know which shuttle yet). I want a ship as versatile as the Carrack, but more angry. Polaris offers so much bang for the buck. But like you, I've melted it and bought it more time than I can count. It will be crewed by obly NPC and blades. I'm a solo player... Using a Polaris as only ship. Woe to anyone telling me I shouldn't. I haven't listen to them for years before abd won't start now!
It WAS the BMM for a while, but as soon as it went over 200m, it became too big for solo me.
Nautilus tempts me so so much. It is IMO the best looking ship after the Pirate Caterpillar. But just as you pointed out, Polaris has so so much more versatility for $25 more that I can't justify getting the Naut instead. When you use a single ship, versatility is primordial.

Ironically the Polaris being a missile boat and having far more turrets means its far less practical to solo than a BMM. Honestly I don't see anything stopping us from soloing a BMM, not having turrets doesn't seem that big of a deal on a shopping mall/cargo hauler plus I don't think any pirate wants to mess with twin size 8's.

    • @ricky6608

Without turrets you’ll probably be able to solo the BMM in an Ares or one of the torpedo bombers

      @kiwi4kian 4 месяца назад

@@ricky6608 The ship still has quite a few automated point defense turrets which should defend against a couple slow moving torpedoes and harass a fighter like the Ares. its funny how people are buying ships they won't be able to fly... during alpha most ships can be flown by 1 person but over and over they have said they do not want solo people flying large and capital ships. When it says crew of 4 or crew of 6 it means that is not optional once game is 1.0... so many ships will be sold on secondary markets for cheap when that happens lol

    • @Spaceman-PIN
      @Spaceman-PIN  2 месяца назад

No. They have said multiple times every ship will be able to be flown by a solo player. However it will not be optimal to do so. If that was the case, then why are NPC crews being built? And why are blades being implemented? Because by your argument, that would be pointless to implement either NPC or blades as actual human players would fulfill those roles. Did the the idris not get flown recently by a solo pilot?? 🤔

    • @AtlasGaming4k
      @AtlasGaming4k 2 месяца назад

@@Spaceman-PIN was the idris flown by 1 person in release - no. Do we have NPC crews - no. Do we have blades - no. Do we have 30+ backlog ships already in game - no. Do people take what CIg puts out to sell ships as though it is guaranteed - yes. Are you smoking hopeum - yes.

    • @Spaceman-PIN
      @Spaceman-PIN  2 месяца назад

@@AtlasGaming4k OK. sure. Then do you not think that CIG would be Legally obliged to declare that? You know as these ships are worth thousands of dollars. Like they have to declare the concept ships arent in game. Something along the lines of " this capital ship will require a player crew of XX to be played in game" Even if you are right, but your not, Players will melt there ships accordingly. Also if it wasnt for the Hopeum smoking players, where exactly would CIG find funding? As you know selling ships is there main fund raising method. Thoses players who support the game high on hopeum allow everyone to continue playing and enjoy the game and keep the dev wheels turning.
