I got the F8C and I will say it is a meat eater. If you don’t know how to fly it you will really find yourself blacking out a lot because the blood is rushing to your legs from the g-force.
I constantly see people complaining about them blacking out, especially at high velocity turns, but that’s the problem, you are not supposed to fly at max speed all of the time, you need to know when max speed is needed and when it’s not. When flying the F8C in combat I recommend going about 60-75% at max, you will be fast but also be able to take those turns better. Only go max speed when you are trying to catch up or escape the enemies. I also recommend learning to use the boost (shift) for things other than a speed boost. It can be used as an emergency break if you just hold it and don’t hold w. But it can also be used to give emergency corrections if you are about to impact something like an asteroid to avoid it.
Weapon package wise, I recommend gimbaled, which sounds stupid, but due to the fact you will likely be maneuvering tight turns and trying to hit small targets like other fighters, it saves you a lot of waisted ammo. Speaking of ammo, I recommend 4 primary laser repeaters and for the secondary a split between ballistic repeaters or laser cannons. If you can max out your systems with all A grade military internals, do it, will give you all the more power.
Edit: Please do not take this as an insult, this is just something a lot of people have to learn and have learned. Everyone is new or inexperienced and some even think they know everything, but the truth is we all have something to still learn and adapting is far better than being stubborn and failing repeatedly. I still have things I’m learning and I’m far from the best pilot, but I took my tips from experienced pilots who I have gotten my butt handed to me by and learned from my failures.

It seems the F8 lightning is a departure from the Leonard Casse ship designs. The thruster arrangement and overall design is remarkably different than the design of other Anvil ships. Edit: After reading more of the wiki article on Anvil, the circle in the middle seems to be a hold over from the Casse design language. Maybe the downward curving "wings" of the F8 fill that; but, to my eye, the F8 is more of a lifting body design without wings. Edit 2: I'm dumb. It has wings. I still stand by the design having significant departures from earlier designs. The most notable I see is 3 square thrusters verses 1 round (Arrow, Hornet) or 2 wide set round (Hurricane, Gladiator).

The Aegis Saber is the only fighter I own! I just rediscovered I have it while poking around my fleet. My brother bought it for me, because I love that F-14 inspired design! I was thinking, as powerful as the civilian F8C is, a military variant would be PRETTY spicy for pew pew players.

@@knavishroot1238 I still don't understand why they even nerfed the Saber. It seems CIG struggles with balancing ships. I do not see Sabers being used, these days.
I'm not into fighters, but love the Saber and Arrow. Funny that they were both nerfed lol

Keep in mind there are two F7As. The Mk1 (the current basis of the F7C), and the Mk2, which is the current F7A. The F7A Mk1 was retired a while back in favor of the Mk2, which has no civilian counterpart at this time
Mk1 is actually still in use by the UEE just not often in front line combat.

Thanks for this video, great lore, great everything. I guess I could find out about the lore by reading stuff but nowdays I'm into the videos. I have the F8 and its now my favorite ship. I only buy ships that I think look cool so I don't care if I have the best fighter or can kill everyone else. Anyway great video it was informative, fun to watch, and just GREAT. Ya I said great 4 times but so what.

It’s actually a breast vs vanduul and works well up to vs heavy fighters but the limited size on the guns makes it a bit less valuable vs the larger targets (on its own).
It is designed to absolutely smash vanduul ships.
It would be really cool if you could mod the F8C ingame with sourcing the right very hard to find parts and a lot of in game money and get it closer to the military one
A lot of people looked at the high DPS on this ship and wanted to automatically crown it the king of dog fighting 👑 I mean I was hearing people say it should be nerfed on day one before anyone even had a chance to fly it. Well DPS isn't everything people. After putting this bird through the ringer I can tell you that it's probably right where it should be for now🕊️ It can be out maneuvered and defeated by light fighters and snubs. It can be outgunned by crewed heavy fighters. It's an awesome ship but falls short of being crowned king. Seems like people who are quick to crown it king are not combat pilots. I hope CIG actually tests this ships before changing anything on it 🤞 If you think it's the king I challenge you to take it into AC and see how do.
The meta being for sale out of the game is a bad thing. the best light fighter should be earned in game too . as this ship stands when it came out , watch avenger one test it , and when he beats his skilled squad mate in the arrow he admits he has the advantage . If you pay 260 you’ll get more out of your piloting skills -- this ship is the metaphorical steroids - you still have to work out but now you get incomparable results - just cause it can lose doesn’t mean it is good that people can pay to avoid the game . And the devs can’t design the game organically to give what is good at the end of the progression. this also effects economics to punish those who didn’t overbuy an undercooked product .
@@BlakedaBull A1 has another video where he beats his same mates flying the F8 in a Fury. In that video A1 kills three different people in a F8 with a Fury. Dog fighting is more about skill than the ship you are in. Especially if the ships are where they belong.

I do understand your point if you think the ship never should have been sold and only won as a reward. If that's your opinion I'm cool with that.
My whole rant here is about the possibility of the ship being nerfed and the community feeling bait and switched like with the Ares. I don't think a nerf is necessary
@@randydurnil1824 the community has already been bait and switched because the company is scum. The shield will drop, the "turret bug" will be fixed. I don't know if they quantum fuel will be cut like they did the cutter. I can't for sure see what else they might cut at. if someone brings a snub, and you're not in a light fighter or smaller you leave the area or work with others. Arena commander is the epitome of the opposite end of most star citizen encounters: battle does not occur in a vacuum ;) . I did fight a merlin in my rented f8 lighting, gosh did he try hard, very good pilot I left , good flying ooo you dodged another death. Well little merlin my time is up I left twice just to make sure i could, leave whenever I want but small chace to kill (higher if i could edit loadout) two lucky barranges. I try a view more passes no he pulls out of the four gimbaled guns over and over so I qt and leave. It is important that people understand that in MM that is why a high armor fighter that is fast will escape and your aurora will not. I am glad you saw both avenger videos they show what pay for advantage means, just cause i have cleats doesn't mean i beat you at football, but gosh is it easier. But the real important thing is not combine whether the f8lighting should be nerfed or what a meta ship should look like WITH the selling the meta out of game lie, FOMO marketing, and buy and nerf bait and switch tactics. (and the event having small things that hurt the non-buyers.) If either of us spend more than 500 dollars on the game and don't have really great lives and jobs than we both lost the "dogfight" to CIG marketing. Don't accept their BS, as you don't seem to accept BS here, so I hope you extend it to the rest of your life.
@@BlakedaBull well put brother. The real thing to be up in arms about is the bait and switch tactics this game if famous for. I have put more into this game than any other video game for sure. Mostly because I believe in the project but it's hard not to loose faith when these kind of shenanigans go on

and of course the Militery Version VS the Civilian version is just an excuse for the balance difference between the single player campainge were we get some Main character Armor VS the MP universe
I wonder if we get a Lore update now that the F7C & F7A Hornet Mk II are released, im genuinely interested to hear or read about the in-game Lore REASONING behind the release of a Mark 2 of the Hornet. And i am quite interested how close the F7A Mk 2 actually gets to the F8A or F8C (It probably is superior to the Civilian version ?)
I said it in the video, the Mark 2 is being released because the Hornet is still really good at what it does and improvements to the design to iron out older flaws and improve the tech. It's like asking why we have the F-15 when the F-35 is around. The answer is because there is already a crap ton of parts made for the F-15 and it remains one of the best jet fighters ever built, it just needs upgrades and modifications. Same idea for the F7A Mk2 vs the F8A.
We also know the stats of the F7A Mk2 vs the F8A, the basic difference is the Hornet has less mass, has better acceleration and roll rate, and is smaller. The Lightening effectively has better everything else, more guns, more armor, is faster over all and has better range.

How is this SCs F-22 ? The F-22 is one of the most experimental and expensive jets out there, the F8 however was chosen because it was cheaper than the widow ?

I’m still waiting to be able to use my damned F7A upgrade… F8 is fun but I want the new hornet body!
The sad part is that by the time my new P.C is finished next year, this ship is gonna be NERF'ed HARD.
So if this is the F22-Raptor, what is the Eurofighter? Or for someone like me who is into military airplanes... the Panavia 200 (PA-200) Tornado.
Eurofighter is something akin to the Anvil Arrow, while the Tornado is likely similar to the Origin 325a.

I disagree. The f22 is a air superiority dog fighter as the f8 is a space superiority dog fighter/and is also good in atmosphere. The only thing in common the Sabre has with the f22 is stealth. But it’s combat capabilities are not up to par.
@@theninjaneer4105 the SU-57 (on paper) is better at dog fighting than the F-22 .
Literally the thing the F-22 has over almost every single fighter in the world is stealth . the ability to fire missiles before it is seen .
in control simulated dog fights the F-22 lost a couple to Typhoons because the stealth element was gone.
The whole platform of the F-22 is build around stealth something the F8 is not. the F8 overwhelms targets with firepower . the F8 is a direct successor to the Hornet F7A and Hornet F7C which neither one of them are build around stealth (save the ghost which is a variant) the whole Sabre is built around stealth.
So no , the F22 is similar to the sabre. the F8 cannot care about being detected he goes in guns blazing like the Typhoon or the Su-57 (altough the SU-57 also has stealth so more like the Typhoon then)

@@ROrneli sorry amigo, if you do your homework the f22 outclasses the su57, even without the stealth. The sabre with stealth might have a better chance, but the Lightning still outperforms it, even with the drop. Speed, maneuverability, firepower. The sabre would get blasted by the time it could even take out the shields.

They have literally sold every ship OP and then nerfed it when the sale is over .
The only ship that has not been nerfed but it is due for a nerf is the A2 but then again at 800 dollars i guess owners deserve to be OP
Now., Lore wise the sabre was a contender for the F8 in terms of different manufacturers competing for the top spot on the ship of choice. Stealth can be valuable too. its just that the mechanics are not in.
Unfortunately its ugly. And it doesn't look like it could withstand any ramming. In my eye, the lore and the design isn't matching well.
i refuse to believe the lore of the hornet. it flys like a brick, and has extremely low hp. its a garbage ship all around. i have hated it since kickstarter. the f8c is *INFINITELY* better than the hornet
so the project was cancelled earlier than anticipated because it was too expensive and not really cost effective compared to drones? Because that's what the F22 is: a failure. I think it the F8 is more like the F14 and F15. These were definitive air superiority fighters which were built to the numbers needed for all branches of the military and maintained their place in the fleet for a long time.
Where would the F35 and it's variants fit in?
