They very easily could. I think Chris Roberts should collaborate with Ronald D. Moore or J. Michael Straczynski and make a show that has a similar look and feel as the reboot Battlestar Galactica or Babylon 5 series. I could imagine an entire series focused on the crew of a Javelin fighting a war against the Vanduul and criminal humans, or a prequel series set during the first or second Tevarin Wars.
Fantastic and very telling lore video! The formation of the UNE and the eventual imperialism under the UEE...that right there is the nightmare scenario, imo. I think Pyro is the most realistic outcome of what life under such a government would be like in space. Also see the dystopian setting seen in The Expanse tv series and novels.
I kinda wish down the road a game would be made about the unification war. I used to think Star Lancer was a bit of a representation of it, but the technology of Star Lancer is far ahead of the tech of the unification war period, though the factions seem to be similar to what I understand about the lore. Though I kinda envision the early starfighters that came later being pretty similar in appearance to the Alliance Reaper. It would be nice if they'd revisit some more designs from that game. There are quite a few that have very similar designs in Star Citizen, but most often with very different roles. For example, I could see Consolidated Outland making a beefed up Mustang intended as more of a medium fighter to look pretty similar to the Alliance Coyote or Patriot, as the Mustang, particularly the original design, appears to have been heavily inspired by the Alliance Predator. A Naginata copy would also be neat as a light fighter option. I could see it being from Mirai as a bigger complement to the Razor intended to bring more armor and firepower to the interceptor variant of the Razor.
The "lets all unify against unifying" position of the anti-unification movement always does my head in but at the same time its not hard to find current analogues... These stories are pretty fundamental to the idea of 'outlaws' within the contemporary Star Citizen verse so its great to have the background understanding.
Well they are likely rather not against "unifying" as a concept in it's self, like real-life anti-globalists arent either, but rather against the prospect of a potential global dictatorship, to arise from a one-world government, which cuz of being this global force, would be without any democratic counterpart. As much as dictatorships use he existence of other countrys to make their folks belive that they are needed in order to protect them, they are also prohibited by them from doing all they want to their folks. Cuz democratic governments could use their tyrany as a justification to attack, or blokade trade with them. Like we saw with small dictatorships in the middle east. & well they are proven right in SC-lore, with the imperial age arc, in that writers made the ressistance force need the support of a alien government aka the xian, in order to overthrow the regime. So it's rather a "lets all unify against their fake unifying, thats just a disguise for a global dictatorship, or bound to become one anyways!" in their minds. SC-lore is quite unique in that it don't shys away from incorparating actuall downsides & upsides of the one-world government trope, or any trope actually. Most sci-fi seetings just shortly glance over it & state that the forming of a one-world government was the right step, in the direction of protection & organisation of a interstelar society, without getting ever deeper into the implications & effects.
@@bighorn6964Easy to understand their plan, hard to understand why anyone would be dumb enough to think it could work, lol. Even if they beat the UNE (which, lol, lmao even), the presiding warlord never would have let them split up. I suppose there are never a shortage of idiots who’ve grown up comfortable in the hegemonic empire and think just cus it’s possible to drive imperial forces out of remote, nearly inaccessible areas, the same could possibly be achieved in the actual heart of the empire where established infrastructure is already at such a high state that it makes internal use of force trivially easy. Same vibes as the y’allqueda types larping in the Florida swamps imagining they’ll be 1% as successful vs drones and the USAF when “SHTF” as the Taliban were 🤣
As much as these videos do a good job of highlighting the vast amounts of SC lore that has been written, I really hope CIG starts adding lore "datapads" into the game that we can find and read our listen to during downtime.
Our ships have tvs for a reason, and there's a reason cig have in-house mocap. We'll get historical dramas eventually, littered in-between with things like the Banu ads and Top Gear parodies
Oh. Violently antigovernment, theyre still around im sure and theyre gonna spark off a fourth one, then levski will emerge as the start of the other human faction. That isnt violently anti uee, but also just want to be part of it, a sort of best vengeance is living well faction. This would be a great way to large scale experiment with reputation based consequences for gameplay so i wonder if they're gonna do something like this then.
sooooo... to fight unification they unified in an anti-unification movement... did I get that right? also... the note at the end about Levski still being anti UEE has me 'worried' that we wont be able to trade there if we have any ties to the UEE goverment or any organizations/people directly affiliated with them... I still hope Levskis people will 'turn a blind eye' if you dont do business with any of the mentioned but with other people that might still live in UEE space...
Being against one specific unification don't means you must be against the concept of being unified in/for something as a whole lol. They were likely convinced that it would be bound to become a dictatorship with absolute power, cuz of no democratic counterpart. & were kinda proven right like the video states at the end....🤷Anyways, i think the devs could avoide such trade restrictions with the explanation that they became unpopular, cuz they would denie trade with way to many people , if they are whinny about any minor tie even, like a bounty hunter contract.
If it is so unrealistic then you should do some historical research. Human history is full of people and countries that were trying to unify the world around them only to suffer from rebellions that paved the way for their downfall. Most of Star Citizens lore has analogs in our own history.
@@wild_lee_coyote Exactly, that's *why* the politics is unrealistic. It's unrealistic that all of these leaders would cede power to a unified government. It's unrealistic that there's a first past the post electoral system on a galactic scale and that's somehow being accepted by such a diverse population. It's unrealistic that there's a first past the post system and that it hasn't trended towards a two party system. It's unrealistic that the population of these nations went along with the end of nation states with *far* more of a fight then what's displayed in this video. This video shows the opposition to unification as just a relatively small movement of perhaps hundreds of thousands or a few millions. Such a unification would literally be opposed by billions, and such a war would be civilization destroying, not end with the opposition on the run in space ships, it would require a genocide of hundreds of millions at a minimum. I live in a country that has voted against a EU membership twice already, trust me, I'm fully aware of how strong decentralizating forces and the feeling of powerlessness when power becomes more distant can be.
I could definitely see CIG moving out of the gaming industry with the Star Citizen universe and trying to push it into shows and movies
That would be incredible

@bruhmoment4916 Chris actually did movies before sc
@@kilamirHe did. They're called Wing Commander 3, Wing Commander 4, and Wing Commander Prophecy.
@@kilamirSure, let's just not talk about that Wing Commander flick he did with Freddie Prinze Jr.
This timeline would make a great TV series.
I really hope we get some novels with all this deep lore that is being developed. Appreciate you for putting it together as always!
Fantastically researched, written, and filmed. Excellent work!

They unify to be independent. They would split after they won their freedom. It's not hard to understand

There should always be places where you can't do business due to it being impossible to have positive reputation with every competing faction.
