I believe this is the 4th time I have watched this Neon Tetra breeding series. I haven't succeeded breeding any egg scatterers yet but I am still as enthousiastic about it as I was the first time I came along this series about 2 years ago. Every time I watch and listen I find more details that may get me to a successful breeding attempt. Currently I am setting up 2 tanks again for a fresh attempt breeding Hyphessobrycon Cyanotaenia. EXCITED as ever about it.

Thanks Mark. I'm planning a return to fishkeeping following a 40 year break from the hobby. I've watched a lot of RUclips videos about fishkeeping and breeding recently but this Neon series was by far the most inspirational.

Love the series of videos on these neon tetras. The amount of information and the little side notes you tell, shows how much you take pride in doing these videos. Thank you sir, for what you do! 👍. I have a school of neon and cardinals that I will attempt to try this in the very near future.

Thanks for another great video, I've really been enjoying these breeding series.
Friday I was taking down my old Apistogramma triple red spawning tank (upgraded them to a bigger setup) and behind the mattenfilter I found one tiny little neon tetra fry. It's about 6-8mm long and showing just his blue at the moment. The only thing I can figure is that the egg slipped through the 45 ppi foam filter, hatched and couldn't get back through the foam. Luckily it was a very mature tank with plenty of infusoria to feed on. Anyway I thought that was a interesting little story and a good reminder to always triple check your tanks when making big changes/moves, life will always find a way to surprise you!

Really nice to watch your videos - I love your enthusiasm, your approach, your advice and of course - the fish! I used to be a half professional breeder for some years, but I have not had tanks for five years now (I love aquariums but I do not love to move them). I always plan tanks in my head though, and now I have found one I will go for (but all in due time, it will not go fast). I added some breeding tanks in the plan... :D
For hydrogen peroxide against cyano, it works great, but be careful if you have Ceratophyllum or Vallisneria in the tanks you are treating - those plants can melt away fast, they do not like hydrogen peroxide.
Keep up the good work, I am inspired again!

Great inspirational videos. I've bred danios, barbs, corys and gudgeons but I assumed it would be a lot more difficult to breed tetras. Your videos show that it really isn't too different and I think it's something I want to try in future!

I just recently discovered your enjoyable channel and watched your Neon Tetra video. Just a suggestion about culturing infusoria I wanted to share with you and your viewers. These cultures start off with a bacterial bloom, as I'm sure you know. It is the stinkiest stage. I've always found it helps to add trickle aeration, just a few bubbles per second, will help keep the cultures fresher smelling and more productive. The Paramecia, which usually dominate these cultures, are also phototropic like Artemia nauplii so a small light coming through a slit cut in dark paper around the culture container helps concentrate them for making a harvesting a denser quantity of animalcules per unit of withdrawn water. Keep up your good work. You do a great job of sharing your accumulated knowledge.

The males are more torpedo shaped and the females are more rounded. If you condition your fish after a week or so you will see the females fill up with eggs. Then you will see the difference.

I’ve had small plecos about 4 inches long eight adults neon Tetris before, it’s happened twice with me, so I stopped keeping them with plecos. One was just a regular Pleco, I don’t even know what they called them and the other was a rubber mouth, both were about 4 inches long when they did it. And there were algae wafers in the tank at both times.
