    What an immense service you are providing to the hobby, Mark. I've read scores of written accounts of breeding techniques and behavior, but yours are the first detailed series of video records I've seen (other than some for Betta splendens). Thank you so much for all you do. You're The Master!

    I found a little baby Black Neon in my 10 gallon tank today. So exciting, I didn't even know they had been breeding so it was a really cool surprise! I'm bad and don't turn the light on very often, which must have been what helped keep it hidden from the adults. Just the one baby, but I love it. :D I will use your method and do it the right way so more of them survive next time!

    Mark, great video (all of your videos). You inspired me to try this, and I have to say, I was shocked by the results. I got an hours worth of courtship on camera, and am working on putting that video up. I haven't seen them hatch out yet, but should be any time. I seem to have failed at the infusoria culture, but do have microworms and brine shimp available.

    Another excellent video. You've gotten me inspired to start tetra breeding. Just got a very good deal on a number of 20 gal tanks. Now I'm concerned that they maybe too big for breeding itself as you stated 2.5 gal on this tank and I believe 5 gal on another. Will 20 gal tank work or should I create some sort of divider to decrease the area some they don't have so much space to find and chase for spawning?

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  5 лет назад

      Twenty gallon tanks are fine. Like you said just add a divider and get neons one side and black neons the other side both with spawn under those conditions . Good luck. 👍😀

    Back tetras are easy to breed. I used to keep the light dim and cover the side panes with brown wrapping paper to give them privacy and peace. If you got the water soft, the pH and the temperature right, they breed like rabbits.

    Thanks to your great advice, we were able to breed these little guys! So fun! We missed the actual breeding but we got about 50-75 eggs! They waited until the morning of day 2 in the small tank to breed but we fed them mosquito larvae several times. Will keep you updated.

      Update: the first batch only one egg was fertile and left 5 adult together for a few days without success, we thought. The second try, they bred within the hour in the evening we put them in the tank. I saw two tiny tadpole-like fry a few days after the eggs were laid. Today 11 days after breeding I observed 4 possibly 5 fry swimming and feeding in the tank. They are the same size as a few daphnia! Too small to film but I will try as they grow. The first one we saw very intermittently for the first few weeks. This is really fun to watch!

    • @dogsexplained
      @dogsexplained 3 года назад

      Another update. There were actually 9 fry in the second batch. They are spending more time out of the plants. I moved them to a 10 gal grow out tank (with some Pygmy Cory fry). Time for another batch of babies!

    • @dogsexplained
      @dogsexplained 3 года назад +1

      One more update! Just bred them again. Another batch coming along! One female and two males. The warm temp 80F seems to play a key role, at least in our naturally soft acidic water! The 9 fry are just starting to show the line along their sides!

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  5 лет назад +1

      Most tetras are from south America in the Amazon, but some populate the clearer water parts and some the dark or black water areas . So ph and parameters varie slightly. Most captive bred tetras will spawn in slightly higher ph. Hope this helps.😀

    Hi Mark, Your breeding videos are really awesome.I have seen my black neon tetras are spawning in my community tank.How many hours or days should I keep them in the breeding tank once they start their spawning.When should I put them back to the main tank.

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  5 лет назад

      Hi. You can leave them in the breeding tank for a couple of days prior to spawning. Remove them as soon as spawning has stopped ok.

    • @pasan.m.jayarathna4962
      @pasan.m.jayarathna4962 5 лет назад

      Thanks Mark.So I should check time to time whether they have finished spawning.

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  5 лет назад

      You'll know when they've stopped spawning as they will stop chasing each other about.

      Thanks Mark.Can you please do some breeding videos about rummy nose tetras and Ember tetras.Thanks again for doing these kind of videos and sharing your knowledge. There are not much videos like these except saying they can be bred this way,that way.I guess you really work hard for to make these videos as catch them from a camera when they are releasing eggs is really hard to do.I saw only one video of breeding Black Neon tetras before.Then your video appeared with a title of "HOW TO BREED BLACK NEON TETRAS PART 1" and I really loved it.Hope your channel get bigger and bigger.

    mark, its been more than 24 hours that the eggs have been deposited but they still did noth hatch some of them look like they have a fuxx over them and the tank is like 2 gallons with a big sponge filter with no decore but with a white sand substrate do you think that i lost them all or its normal?

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  5 лет назад
