I love doing the ol trick of filling their tank 50% with water ...or rather let the water evaporate, with tds rising and temp rising 3 degrees over a week or so...then bam fill it with 4 to 6 degree cooler water and add a HOB or power head...live worms. It works 7 out of 10 times for me... Nevermind, you just said the same thing basically haha

Always loved watching the corey's going to town on the bottom. They got used to me quite easy, I watched for hours so close..... they get used to ya over time too. What a cooperative fish in almost every tank.

    Love to see these guys....
I’m currently raising some peppered cories and bronze to adulthood (about 20 of each) and although my LFS said they’d take them in trade I’m having separation anxiety and thinking I may keep them all. They look so happy and fun when they all swarm together like in the wild.... this causes multiple tank syndrome...lol
Meant to merely be an experiment to see if I could do it, it’s the most fun I’ve had in a long time...
Can’t wait to see your future videos and follow up on these cute guys!
    Thanks so much !
    😊

Well, here we are a month later, & my largest group of bronze/emerald Corys just produced about 40 or 50 eggs. I saved them & stuck them in a breeder box where the predatory tankmates can't get to them! Guess I need to set up a separate tank for them, it's a pretty brightly-lit, fully planted tank.

Good day. I found seven Cory eggs in my tank today🎉. Luckily I was practicing growing the food with the broccoli two days ago. hopefully it works. If they don’t make it; it’s no big deal I’m just glad my fish are happy and healthy. thank you for all your work it’s really appreciated.

Brilliant. If you haven't got infusoria don't worry you can very finely crush flake food up and add small bits to the aquarium. Just make sure you don't over feed ok.😀👍

Hey Mark!! Thanks for another great video, super interesting and super informative. One of the reasons I keep coming back and watching and re-watching your videos is because of your style. Yeah, you jump about a bit between topics but the topics are all relevant and real and actually that's what keeps the interest, keeps the content flowing and makes your videos multi-dimensional. DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING!!!

Hi Mark. Another great video. I have Peppered and Panda cory's, such delightful fish to keep. My Peppered cory's breed in a heavily planted community tank, they don't seem to need a trigger to breed. PH 7.5 and temp 20 C. Everything seems to be a trigger for them, water change day, Mum walked past the tank, day ending in a Y .. they are prolific breeder's for me :)
My Panda's aren't as prolific. I had to breed them in their own tank. they certainly bred in the community tank, but predation on their eggs from other fish was a problem, and they lay less eggs at a time. I put 1 female and 2 males in a heavily planted tank and left them to it. Fed them BBS daily and other foods, they like cucumber, and a 20% cooler water change and now have over a dozen baby's. PH 7.3 and temp 21C , Also put an almond leaf in there and snails for clean-up duty.

Also, what is your total watch time statistics for your videos? I usually let these videos go on in the background while I multitask because your videos are mainly static shots (straight-on and stationary). I think this works really well because these sorts of videos are extremely informational. Not sure how you see it, but the audio and your comments are almost more important than the video part of these uploads. Not to say the video isn't as important as the audio, but your simple method seems very effective!

Thanks, love to you and yours

The part about rolling the eggs is super accurate. Very gently run your fingers up the glass and the eggs will roll onto your finger. Then you relocate them into a breeder tank/plastic breeder mesh, and gently roll them onto that surface. As opposed to the razor blade and credit card method

Ive been using community tanks to encourage eggs in a group of 12...then plop em into my 10 gallon neocaridina tank, which also has other fry growing in it too...scarlet badis, CPDs and a few honduran red points (which get the boot soon ). I love corys. I’ve got approximately 150 fry at the moment. The first ones I’ve brought up myself. I’ve got a community tank and they spawn nearly every time I make a cold water change. If they spawn at night the other fish have eaten the eggs, but this time I was lucky enough to see it and rescue the eggs. They’re eating freshly hatched Artemia and micro worms. And doing very well. I’m so excited as I’m fairly new in the hobby.

So let me get this straight. The trigger is trickle a small amount of water back into the tank over a week or so? I'm using a 10 gallon tank. So I emptied out 50%. So I add a gallon Slowly to simulate rainfall accumulated that fluctuate the water temps to over the next few days to trigger spawning? I tossed in a couple almond leaves to lower pH. Am I on the right track Mark? And does it matter that they are salt and pepper Cory's? Earlier I thought I heard you say it doesn't matter as long as I follow your steps 😉. I've spawned lots of fish but these little ones will be my first time 🍒

Cory's are little pigs for food. Feed them well even during spawning that will temp them away.

Is the piece of wood common privet hedge? The type that gets white flowers in summer/autumn if grows tall enough?

Hi, I'm french so I didn't understood all you said, and I have a question about my corydoras. I "rescued" a corydoras julii, someone I know was about to get rid of him and I took him, now he's in my 80 gallon since months. The problem is, he's alone... and my petstores don't have this variety and seems to not be able to have some.. I read everywhere that we CAN'T put different variety of corydoras because they can't recognize them together, like If I have Julii, I have to add some Julii and not another variety or my Julii will not go with the group.... true or myth ??? Sorry for my english btw

Myth! If they look similar enough then they will be ok. I have two albino, two green, and two peppered and they all school together and in pairs

My accidental breeding setup for Panda Corys is a bunch of java fern attached to wood on top of a pile of rocks in a fifty five gallon community tank. Things are getting out of hand but it seems so mean to breakup the panda pile.

If they're happy leave them to it. 😀👍

Check they're not mating out of sight. You'll soon know if they hatch or not.

Hi Mark! How big/how old do they have to be before they’re ready to breed?

Hey Mark my otocinclus are breeding but I haven't seen any eggs. It's the second time this week they have been t-positioning like mad but again no eggs. Love to know what you think . Like are they eating them or maybe they are extra small and my eyesight isn't able to see them?
