Watch this video once a month. One of the best ..
I shall one day when back active again to film a follow up and see what’s new. Dana has so far bred 72 species of Corydoras
Nobody has been able to take me off the couch and bring me to wherever you are creating from !!!!
It's always good to hang with the Biggs, and it's hard to believe it is almost 4 years. Just keeps getting better
Truly kind my friend thank you
From my experience, during water change, dropping the water temperature by a degree or two triggers cory to breed. It is a signaal for them of a rain season ergo, plenty of food.
So awesome, thanks for bringing us along
Glad you enjoyed it Suzi, thank you kindly for watching
That was so great!! So much amazing information. Thank you both 🤗
Glad you enjoyed it!
So amazing ❤❤❤ thank you 🙏🏼 great interview you are really talented with communication Biggs I appreciate everything you do for the hobby
That’s truly kind my friend thank you
Such great info -- thanks, Chris!
Thanks a million Dana and Chris.
Thanks for watching
I had delfax and could never get them to spawn . I am duly impressed! I love the "rubber band trick" too. Your fishroom is amazing Mr. Allen!
A true legend in Aquatics
Awesome stuff, Biggs. That rubber band trick is clutch. Definitely going to start using that one.
So simple and yet so incredible
Great video Chris, the fish room is amazing!
Thanks!
Very inspiring. Amazing fishroom
The fishroom under the stairs, yet produces so many incredible fish
Loved this update another banger mate
Thanks Dude
Thanks Paul
Great video. Awesome info. I been breeding Cory's for 3 years and never fed them live foods so it can be done. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching
My favourite Corydoras species is still the subtle looking Slate Cory (C.concolor), no fancy spotting, stripes etc but still would be my first choice any day of the week!
That’s a solid pick
thanks for the interview, it was interesting. especially about live food. I'm not going to breed exclusive corries, but how to maintain live food SIMPLE and to feed fish SIMPLE - this is useful information.
Such simple tips that make so much sense
That rubber band just makes sense!
So simple
Great video and information 😊
Thanks for watching!
Wow, that’s really impressive progress since you were last there 👏
He just keeps pumping them out species after species
This was a great video with great content. It will have a positive impact on my Corydoras breeding. With thanks from Japan...
Truly kind, thank you my new friend
Good one!!!
Excellent tips ❤😊
Glad you like them!
So great to see this follow-up video :) ...and great to see a fellow Canuck being successful with Cory breeding!
Re stressing them to breed, can attest to: I almost always get spawns right after I get my Corydoras from Curtis @ Commonsenseaquatics - great fish! (Calgary!). He has hard water, higher pH, I have super soft water (low GH) that always acidifies quickly. Just plop and drop into net, then into new tank. The combination of the flight to Vancouver and the big water parameter shift seems to do it :).
He supplies incredible fish! But yes the acidification of the water is definitely a natural trigger
I breed the emerald corydoras. I love how they school in formation along the bottom. I keep 20 adults in my 125.
The whole family are incredible Aquarium fish
Watching & supporting
Thanks MadCat
I ove learning new things about Cory's 💗💯👍✌️ thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
great video hopefully i will be breeding and making some content on these amazing corydaras catfish
Im certain i met him when he was at Spencer's. He made a comment about Cory's and breeding. Great video.
Stress them isn't something I've heard. Interesting!
Yes more than likely
How do I give more than one thumb up? You guys rock
Thank you very much
Super video. ❤❤
Thank you very much!
very interesting, more please :D
More to come! Always
I have wild atropersonatus over half a year very shy. And also sodalis wildcaught for 2 weeks now and these are shy to. Some tips and tricks about these 2? For breeding and getting less shy?
Great videos man.
Getting less shy is a complex task. Adds no small peaceful characins above them may very well do the trick. Looking into their specific range and habitat may very well shed some clues.
Perhaps the addition of leaf litter?
Water chemistry play a factor in their native range?
Depending on their range they may very well need a trigger or two to induce spawning.
Cold water change, oxygen drop, increase in organic matter, still water, increase temperature for a couple week then water change. All factors that mimic their natural habitat.
Putting the pieces of the puzzle together to achieve success is what makes it all so rewarding.
Lineage 8 is interesting and Lineage 1. From my understanding they are a little bit more tricky personality wise then others but for 8 depends on the group, best in harems.
One day I might keep Corydoras properly, I just don't have the setups realistically right now. I like the elongated heads of some of the lineages.
Nice to see some C. spirulus around, an importer sent a whole box worth of those one and they are a difficult sell. I also think it's great stressors mentioned as a reason fishes breed.
Is a lineage 8 fish one that has been captive bred for 8 generations?
@@fnhuggybear no lineages refers to the phylogeny (family tree) so on a certain branch. Quite a few are rarely if ever bred in captivity from that branch.
Thanks for the video, really enjoy and most importantly learn so much. Though this is for advance cory keepers.
Do you have or would you make a video more cory 101 basic? I keep cory, but I don't know the term like "Liniage 1, 4". Video from experts are easier to digest than googling.
I’m sure we can down the road
Great info. Does sand or gravel or nothing matter for breeding?
Sand would be best with a soft fine grain to encourage their natural foraging behaviour
I get eggs every few weeks from my corys -little albino and huge green corey keep mating non stop. What would you call this hybrid? The fries all look like the green coreydora.
what surface did the incolicana spawn on? glass, smooth stone or a leaf?
Nice ❤
Glad you like it
I'm a rookie when it comes to this sort of thing however, in my main display tank (now an EBA breeding tank) my Cory's have spawned successfully 1x and I get eggs every week on a water change. I've been told that adding cooler water to the tank triggers the spawn as "rainy season"
Maybe there's something there? Good video. Awesome fish
Yes all South American species can be triggered by a myriad of methods.
The cold water change being one of them
@@themadaquarist I just watched my Cory drop eggs as I'm reading this hah
@@klypz85 well I can’t take credit for that lol
Wow
Thanks Bill
Wonder if dani ever spawned the skunk cory? I know at one time you where at his house and he was talking about how he was trying at the time but hadn't yet?
Arcuatus? I’ve bred them
Wow that's awesome. I'd love to see a video on them please. I've tried to breed mine for 5 years and nothing. I've bread lot's of other Cory's. Thanks
did you have video about taking care of cory fin rot?
Not currently sorry
👍
Thank you kindly
What does makes a breeder MASTER? The amount of species successfully bred or the years of experience?
IMO anyone with a level of passion to spend time doing what they love to get species to reproduce successfully in captivity is a master.
It’s a term used in aquarium society’s breeders award programs which is where it came from in this context
My favourite species is C.granti almost two years keeping them not one spawn, anyone had luck with these c020 ?
Has he done corydoras hastatus?
Try Eques in still water...
Such a great video. I hope you make a video about the Holy Thursday Massacre. The FWC and the atrocities should be talked about and discussed. This is not just a reptile thing, this is a big issue for all animals that we keep and how they enforce regulations. Thanks
I honestly had planned to however my constant travel commitments as of late I just wasn’t able to I’m a timely fashion.
Massacre? 😆 🤣 😂
I bet you love #Freedumb
I heard a rumor of somebody breeding equis in a pond outside. Sorry i tried but cant get details.
Very cool
@@themadaquarist Just a rumor.
Can i get the contact info for Dana Allan as I live in Canada.
Best would be via Facebook or the Saskatoon aquarium society
I have given up in disgust on trying to breed Eques or Green Lasers
Never give up! Try increasing the temp a couple degrees, feeding rich foods like bloodworms etc….. then in a week or two if there’s a rain storm do a 30-50% cold water change you may be pleasantly surprised.
Our role in fish breeding is figuring out the puzzle. Good luck
It's a challenge I couldn't resist. You'll get there. Best of luck 🤞
They need a little bit of flow and try a cooler water change spot of times that can trigger them to spawn and make sure that you are conditioning them with blood worms and tubifex before u try again
Snails for the eques
Can you visit Dana monthly?
