    It's actually crucial that you cross pipes touching like that, as the corydora can feel the flow and vibrational current of the others and they can actually communicate through it.

    Have you tried changing water level to breed Cories? I feel that with some it's more effective to allow the water to get low (~50% full or less) and then fill it up as they can feel the difference in pressure.

    • @meminustherandomgooglenumbers
      @meminustherandomgooglenumbers Год назад +1

      I bet turning off some water flow once the tank gets low might help too. Then blast them with some rainwater and turn all the flow back on. Maybe even add some extra flow too.

      @@shadeaquaticbreeder2914 different cories have different triggers. And the rainy season - which is what most of them are looking for - does typically include some sort of rain. And after a rain, what happens? Yup that’s right! Increased water flow.

    I have a colony of the 9 Schultzei Black Cory's that spawn for me every few weeks. They are a line bred version of the C. Schultzei, which the non black variety looks very similar to C. Aeneus. I keep them in a standard 20g High tank. They do lay pretty good batches of eggs, but they like to spawn on vertical spaces. Very often times my will spawn in the corners of the top of the tank. In addition to the corners of the tank they love to spawn vertically on jungle vals and another hornwort like plant I have floating in the tank. I would say they spawn in the afternoon, but I haven't found any correlation between waterchanges, but feeding heavy amounts of bloodworms does help a bunch. I find Hikari to work the best as it is a smaller bloodworm. I like to feed two cubes a night- always excess food. Catfish love to eat! I only have a sponge filter, hornwort, jungle vals, and java moss in the tank, on sand. When I do get eggs, the problem isn't hatching the eggs, I have issues raising the fry. Really happy to see another person breeding corys with passion! I never see anybody doing anything with them.

The method I am trying is a the half gallon hang on back fluval breeder box on my 75g tank so I can feed a lot and heavy without doing water changes. I had some success with it in the past, but the largest issue is time and keeping up on feedings

    We have about 75 cory's in 16 different varaities.
    Here they spawn eggs most of the time when the waterlevel gets lower and the spraybar comes above the waterlevel what mimics rain on water. Mostly they lay their eggs about 3 or 5 cm below the waterlevel on the windows or something that hangs there vertically like the thermometer or the waterinlet.
    I roll the eggs from the windows and put them in a seperate little tank of 20 liters with an airpomp.
    The first month we give them Artemia and Dapnia (dried powder)
    This way is very succesfull for us and raised many cory babies.

    @andymorel4645 3 года назад +10

    To breed in them bins, I think you should put them outside expose to the sun full of rain water and let them bin age with guppies so alge grow on the walls.
    I said guppies to stop mosquitoes and produce waste to activate formation of alge, so molly or platy will work too.
    That is my idea, please don't try painting your bin first most paint are smooth and second toxic. Alge texture and not toxic. I don't think you want to kill your breeders.
    All the best with your breeding, you are doing good.👍🐟🐟🐟

    You may know now how they fertilize but for those who don’t know..
    Step 1: Male will go in front of females face and do the T pose
    Step 2: Male will deposit sperm onto females whiskers
    Step 3: Female will find a spot to lay eggs
    Step 4: Female will lay eggs
    Step 5: Female will rub her whiskers with males sperm onto eggs
    Now steps 2-5 can also go a little different than that..
    The female actually chooses whether or not she will collect the sperm from the male before or after depositing eggs. Also the female will do 1 out of 2 things to fertilize the eggs. She will either “lay” the sperm down on a spawning site and then deposite eggs onto that sperm coating or she will lay the eggs and then fertilize them with her whiskers after she had laid the eggs.
    Another thing.. the female doesn’t always fertilize on site. She may lay the eggs in a spot and 20 minutes later she will collect the sperm and go fertilize the eggs even after she had laid in another spawning site. They remember where they laid all their eggs and they will go back to them to fertilize so when spawning Corydoras you want to give them roughly 30-60 minutes after the spawning is done to allow them to go fertilize any eggs they have not done so to yet to give them a chance to fertilize them.
    I hope this helps anyone who is attempting to spawn Corydoras!

    I think it was this video that had a tank with dozens of angels in the background. I thought we were only to have just a few fish per tank. How can I accomplish this? Thx!

      Excess filtration and water changes.

    It's always irks me when people say the eggs will/do get eaten bc I just breed and grown fry out in the tank with the parents and they NEVER eat them. The only time I've had eggs get eaten was when I fed every other day and 1 species of Goodeid found a taste for them but only the fully grown and they stopped once I changed the setup. I also don't do religious water changes, maybe once every 6 months and it doesn't effect breeding times at all, they just breed when they are ready.

      My peppered cories eat the eggs almost as fast as they lay them. I've tries leaving the eggs in there but unfortunately parents end up eating them in a matter of minutes

      @@p3teytran that's crazy. You mean paleatus I am guessing? My paleatus still didn't when I had some. Do you underfeed them or something? I really want to find out why this happens bc it really doesn't happen to me. My Cories just had more eggs and the last batch hatched and the water was even crystal clear this time and they don't eat the eggs or fry. I only feed once a day as well so it's not like I keep feeding them but I do try to overfeed them. I wonder if it has anything to do with tank size although that wouldn't make much sense to me unless there's not enough room for the babies in their minds so they eat them. Mine are in an 8'×3' tank rn.

      @@shadeaquaticbreeder2914 if anything I overfeed becauze that's what I've been told stimulates breeding. Mainly feed them frozen bloodworms, freeze dried tubifex worms or bug bites. But yea man they eat them so fast its crazy

      @@p3teytran that's nuts. I swear I'll find this out and make a vid on it. I'll pry make one soon on my Cories and ricefish, I already have one on my Gobies.
      I feed mine a flake mix and just frozen rotifers and cyclops that I thaw out in a squeeze bottle in the fridge.
      Rn I think I'll start with space constraints. I'll try putting a few in this small planter pot I have and see if they eat them in there.

    You could try laying white or light coloured tiles at the bottom of the bins to add visibility to the adults. Its something I've seen done by a few other individuals.

    dump giant clumps of java moss in there and the females will swim through it while dropping the eggs. The fish don't like to swim in there usually and the eggs will stay safe. I've been able to save quite a few eggs that way. Unfortunately the babies keep jumping off cliffs. RIP
