- In this week's DAF truck trouble diary we have:
DAF MX-13 TURBO ACTUATOR
were delving into A step-by-step replacement of a turbo actuator on a he-500 turbo today due to a actuator fault. Nothing a quick replacement won't fix for the customer and also....
DAF XF MX-13 WATER PUMP
with fault codes relating to the clutch itself on the pump were going to throw caution to the wind and replace it then head on over to.......
*DAF MX-13 TOP END REBUILD.
The customers removed the broken valve bridge guide so were going to rebuild it all and do the valve clearances for him to hopefully get it running again.

hi mate i found your channel last week and have spent every spare minute binge watching every video ,every one is a winner thanks for the info please keep them coming
Hey buddy. Thanks for the comment and I hope you find the videos useful at some point 😎👍
Watch every video mate I have, if you work on dafs you’ll find the vids very helpful!
I remember when the euro 6 first. Came out, one of the lads did a water pump on one and dropped it straight into the rad and put a hole in it 😂 had to learn how to change the rad very quickly
Ha ha ha and changing the radiator is so much fun 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
@@TRUCKTECHUK even more so when it was heading for Italy the next morning 😂
Gotta love these fellows driving for 6 months with warnings on, and chancing their luck clearing fault codes everyday...When someone that actually knows what he do is called over to have a look at the problem, truck suddenly has to go to italy following morning...Normally i tell them come back to me when the truck is parked up for couple of days..
nice work mate iv'e done a few of those water pumps myself not a bad job to do .👍👍
Hey Steve buddy! Yep the water pumps are great to do on mx-13 😎👍

If would you please give us some video on electrical repair and how to get inside DAF website in details ??
Thanks
Thank you.
No problem buddy 👍 glad you liked the video 😎
nice 1 mate
Hey mick. Thanks for watching and i Hope you're enjoying your weekend buddy!
Great videos! Can I ask what kind of battery pump you used to refill the coolant with?
Hi, thanks for the comment buddy. The pump I use to fill the coolant up is this one www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B9SL6YVP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I just put this one on my boost pack and it works a treat 👍😎
@@TRUCKTECHUK thanks appreciate that! Will get one ordered up
@calumseatibiza no problem mate 👍😎
Great video as always.
What model Milwaukee wrench do you use when changing the pump?
Hi buddy thanks for the comment 👍. The ratchet model is FRAIWF38-0
Hi, how well can jaltest work on Mercedes trucks
What happened to that
Are all your DAF truck engines Paccar
Hey Geoff. No buddy the smaller truck, the DAF LF or the newest model that has now replaced that is called a XB is actually a CUMMINS engine so the engines I work on are PACCAR and CUMMINS.
@TRUCKTECHUK thanks for replying, here in NZ, most, nearly all, go for Cummings
Ah right! Cummins used to be fitted to the CF and XF under the Foden brand but PACCAR dropped that brand and stopped fitting Cummins in favour of using the DAF brand and Paccar engine. Like I say the only truck to have a Cummins now is the smallest truck and that still says PACCAR over the cummins badge.
What camera you using mate does it clip to your glasses
Hey buddy thanks for the comment. I've upgraded recently from recording on my glasses to an Insta 360 go3s. It is a good little camera but only lasts 30 minutes between charges
Hello buddy😊,once again i find myself in this video😉. Can you give me the part number for the water pump sensor plz.. the same that you changed in this video..thanks mate.. waiting for your anwser bro😅
Hey teddy. The part number for the speed sensor is 2045580. It's a non-genuine pump and speed sensor as its half the price. Hope this helps
@@TRUCKTECHUK sure it helps.. i think i need to go through a genuine water pump paccar so.. so in which XF do they use 2055580 buddy🤔🤔?????
All your videos help me a lot mate🫡🫡
I am shocked lol it is 9nm for the top cover ,and 20 for the lower one lol...also battery guns on those covers are my bug bear ,i hate them and no need ,,so take that as a telling off lol On that paticular MX engine the loose inlet pushrod would be loose ie turn by your fingers so you know that is the one to adjust ,on the previous version both inlet and exhaust rods would turn ...Reference the injector ,,you are meant to fit the injector first torque it down then install the pipe ..The pipe can be damaged if put against the injector then the injector tightened down ,,,Shame on you lol .Remember the pipe end deforms as you tighten it ,the injector will sit correctly then you put the pipe in and it deforms which then lets you reuse it as it then fits back in to the inj as it should ,you way can cause excess leak off ..I use a bodyshop rivet for the tensioner lol...A good video all the same but you did let your high standards drop slightly ..
Ha ha ha I need to stop quoting torque settings off the top of my head.
I'd cut the bit where I check them with a ratchet as it doesn't make good RUclips lol
I think I've always done the opposite cylinder when the inlet has been down but then I always check the cylinder I'm doing for free play on the rocker arm also 🤣 I HATE doing valve clearances.......I've only 3 more trucks booked for this month for valve clearances and I was in Wolverhampton yesterday doing a set too 😪.......I'm thinking its time I opened a DAF workshop with all this maintenance going on!
The injector I've always done the injector up and then the tube.....I think that's the way I did it in this video unless I've messed up the order of the footage 🫣
I use to have a rivet also, it's in the toolbox at home....I need a bigger van to get the toolbox in. It's what's to hand these days 🤷
Did you see the exhaust brake rocker arms on 5 and 6 shooting oil out at the end of the video when I had the rocker cover off again 🫣
That coolamt pump design is shit. Obviously the objective is to elinimate the need for a thermostat circuit, but to do so by having something as critical as your coolant pump on a electronic clutch? Thats crap
Hey mate I’ve been watching your videos for a while. I’m a mechanic with 4 years experience who does a lot of diagnostics work on dafs. They help a lot with some jobs. I’ve been thinking about starting my own channel to educate others on common and uncommon faults. And was wondering how have you found it building your channel. Have you got any tips. Keep up the good work
