    Are all your DAF truck engines Paccar

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  5 месяцев назад

      Hey Geoff. No buddy the smaller truck, the DAF LF or the newest model that has now replaced that is called a XB is actually a CUMMINS engine so the engines I work on are PACCAR and CUMMINS.

    • @geoffreyfox7618
      @geoffreyfox7618 5 месяцев назад +1

      @TRUCKTECHUK thanks for replying, here in NZ, most, nearly all, go for Cummings

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  5 месяцев назад

      Ah right! Cummins used to be fitted to the CF and XF under the Foden brand but PACCAR dropped that brand and stopped fitting Cummins in favour of using the DAF brand and Paccar engine. Like I say the only truck to have a Cummins now is the smallest truck and that still says PACCAR over the cummins badge.

    I am shocked lol it is 9nm for the top cover ,and 20 for the lower one lol...also battery guns on those covers are my bug bear ,i hate them and no need ,,so take that as a telling off lol On that paticular MX engine the loose inlet pushrod would be loose ie turn by your fingers so you know that is the one to adjust ,on the previous version both inlet and exhaust rods would turn ...Reference the injector ,,you are meant to fit the injector first torque it down then install the pipe ..The pipe can be damaged if put against the injector then the injector tightened down ,,,Shame on you lol .Remember the pipe end deforms as you tighten it ,the injector will sit correctly then you put the pipe in and it deforms which then lets you reuse it as it then fits back in to the inj as it should ,you way can cause excess leak off ..I use a bodyshop rivet for the tensioner lol...A good video all the same but you did let your high standards drop slightly ..

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  5 месяцев назад +1

      Ha ha ha I need to stop quoting torque settings off the top of my head.
      I'd cut the bit where I check them with a ratchet as it doesn't make good RUclips lol
      I think I've always done the opposite cylinder when the inlet has been down but then I always check the cylinder I'm doing for free play on the rocker arm also 🤣 I HATE doing valve clearances.......I've only 3 more trucks booked for this month for valve clearances and I was in Wolverhampton yesterday doing a set too 😪.......I'm thinking its time I opened a DAF workshop with all this maintenance going on!
      The injector I've always done the injector up and then the tube.....I think that's the way I did it in this video unless I've messed up the order of the footage 🫣
      I use to have a rivet also, it's in the toolbox at home....I need a bigger van to get the toolbox in. It's what's to hand these days 🤷
      Did you see the exhaust brake rocker arms on 5 and 6 shooting oil out at the end of the video when I had the rocker cover off again 🫣

    Blimey what a mess just about every truck engine maker has made of truck engines
    DAF 1160 ATI 2800 3300 3600 was bomb proof simplicity and ran forever when looked after
    Same for a Scanny 111 141 113 142 ect now it’s engines are goosed unless you have a PLC laptop reader 🥳

    That coolamt pump design is shit. Obviously the objective is to elinimate the need for a thermostat circuit, but to do so by having something as critical as your coolant pump on a electronic clutch? Thats crap

    Hey mate I’ve been watching your videos for a while. I’m a mechanic with 4 years experience who does a lot of diagnostics work on dafs. They help a lot with some jobs. I’ve been thinking about starting my own channel to educate others on common and uncommon faults. And was wondering how have you found it building your channel. Have you got any tips. Keep up the good work
