  • A trip over to a customer with BLACK SMOKE from a Daf and a failed diagnostic from the dealer means someone has to fix this daf cf!
    with fault codes for egr and bpv calibration along with active engine protection. We can go through some methodical diagnostics with Jaltest diagnostics from Eclipse and get to the bottom of the issue.
    Unfortunately what started as a cheap fix escalated into some serious money being spent

      I will happily turn my hand to anything, I'm at Fiat on Monday tomorrow to do a gearbox fault with jaltest.
      We as an industry are having a massive issue with not being able to get technicians into the industry currently and if you do fancy turning your hand to trucks you will find an abundance of jobs going currently 😎

      Yes, I forgot to mention the DPF in the video! even though I told the customer SMOKE = PM SENSOR FAULT and if you can see black smoke the DPF is toast! It will require a DPF, the diffuser cleaning out and possibly a PM sensor depending on contamination. I don't even know if the truck has had a turbo yet so I will make a follow-up phone call I think 😎

    That split / crack then on the turbo was making the fine teeth on that actuator slip, ? that the weird noise. . ?

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  Год назад

      Hey Andrew. From what I can tell with the signal dropping out and the position changing the fault was the actuator hence it stopped when I changed it BUT I don't know if the faulty actuator had caused the turbo arm to crack or move position.
      The best thing is it had no VTG faults but all the symptoms of rapid soot loading. A test I could/ should have done was turbo actuator functionality which would have possibly sped up this diagnostic. I got it right and that's all that matters to the customer 👌
