      My videos get used by Bristol College and remit training as it is, I've enquired about a teaching qualification but it's too much time for me to do currently.
      I'm planning on running courses in our workshop in Manchester when that gets set up next year. We will have a DAF XF set up for fault diagnostics and I will most probably record the sessions as courses for people who can't attend......that's the big 5 year plan anyway ha ha ha

    Too bad about the broken injector.
    the engine did still run nicely after the injector was replaced.

      Hey buddy. It's methodical thinking buddy. I plan on teaching it to everyone who cares when I can get a workshop open! I try not to work with other manufacturers' products as I can't keep up with people with Paccar products as it is. I've 2 buses this week both with Paccar engines in to sort too 🫣.
      I just stick to Daf really. Although I do put camera kits in other trucks if the customer wants like 40 dafs fitting with 4-camera DVR kits and has a few Mercedes or Renault trucks too lol

    Enjoy your videos! Work on fleet of KW's and Peterbilts in US. Funny you mention internal injector soft deposits. They (Paccar) try to say it is just a problem in North America, no issues in Europe.... Had an EPA 21 loose an injector tip with 3,000 miles, ending up getting complete engine and after treatment. Put in quite a few sets of the three hole armature plate injectors in EPA21's along with the CLI updated software, but still misfires after awhile. Never ends! New style injector is supposed to be available to us this fall. Latest issue has been main bearing bolts breaking. I think we are just going to switch back to Cummins. Also, ironic that compression test wouldn't have lead you to #3. Uncontrolled fueling is a wildcard to that test! I having been using my Picoscope with a pulse sensor @ DOC inlet temp sensor to identify weak and misfiring cylinders.

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  5 месяцев назад +1

      hey steve thanks for the comment. As for soft deposits, the current state of things over here is just as bad as over with you! i could pull up about 20 emails from owners who have had enough of the new product, all I can do is direct them to DAF UK to get their issues resolved these days but the whole world is in the boat currently on the soft deposits issue.
      Yes the recall we have here on the bolts is under 300km change them and over 300km leave them in.
      i do miss Cummins ha ha ha
      as for the compression test i take the computer is referencing the cranking current from the starter motor and cylinder speed via RPM.
      One way to fool you I suppose as a first-look test.........i think id have taken a page out of mr.brandon stecklers pressure pulse waveform analysis if we were going down the pieco route but then I find it amazing how the PCI ECU can detect contribution and miss fire issues itself!

      @@TRUCKTECHUK Appreciate the reply, confirmed my suspicions! Lots of great videos/uses for Pico on the tube, just not very practical to go in cylinder on most diesels that don't have glow plugs. I used it in exhaust because that is how Cummins, Scania, and most likely others do misfire detection. I use it more for CAN issues, nice that Pico will decode messages so can find module that is speaking crap! Seen the MY24 CARB MX-13? Has a 48V generator off the flywheel housing to power the after treatment grid heater to heat the twin SCR catalysts with an additional $15K price tag. Engine is also Miller cycle.

      I, unfortunately, don't have the time to do anything deep with picoscope anymore.....1) because I can't afford my own 😂😂😂 and 2) I've not found anything other than signal analysis that I've needed it for that my handheld can't do BUT as you say CAN ID would be brilliant. I'd love to get into sniffing the data as I've sooooo much stuff I want to develop for injecting the data into the modules BUT ITS TIME!!!! My biggest and greatest enemy!

      Hey Benny, it was interesting, the injector pipe was a bit hot like lol
      I will ask him this week and see what's going on with it now. Looking at the piston, it might be running but I think any real heat in the cylinder and it will soon pick up on the thrust side of that piston on the skirt/Ringland.
      Ha ha ha I should do ride-outs in the van! My end goal when I open this DAF workshop in the north-west is for any technicians who want to do diagnostics can come attend some sort of evening course thing once a month and we can run like a course on PCI and EAS-4 or EBS-3......I think it would be cool 😎

      @bennycovelly960 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@TRUCKTECHUK I think with that engine, once she gets hot with a bit of weight behind her it may end in tears.
      I used to work for a truck company with Dafs and now on coaches with predominantly Volvo based coaches. But I’d be very interested in doing some courses, as private fleet training ends at the door, and in the game you need to keep current. I’d make the trip up from south wales defiantly.

      @TRUCKTECHUK  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, I'm with you on that one too buddy.
      I have got a coach to go to this week with fuel injector faults....thankfully a PACCAR ENGINE in it lol
      Information is the key to diagnostics. I always said how can you diagnose a fault without all the information about the system.
      I think for people who couldn't make it I'd just stream the course or whatever it will be classed as lol but yes........need a massive workshop to put all this work in next I think!

    • @bennycovelly960
      @bennycovelly960 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@TRUCKTECHUK agree with information, we use Texar as a diagnostic tool, but as the way with small fleets, it’s out of date by two years as it’s “not worth it” 🙄. The reason for the texar is for Yutong Coaches, which we have two of, and they go wrong alot and Texar was recommended by the manufacturer. But the Jaltest looks a very good piece of kit. 👌

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  5 месяцев назад

      @bennycovelly960 I suppose it depends on what age vehicles you work on. I find people who think diagnostic updates aren't worth it are living in the past.
      Look at jaltest now, all the dealer tools available for remote programming of most ECUS on vehicles, remote diagnostics from a help desk for faults you can't fix and the option to include all the dealer wiring and information all rolled into one tablet. I don't even need a davie-4 anymore with jaltest.

I’ve physically seen the results before and after. Don’t get me wrong you can have mechanical issues with fuel system components but if I told you for 30 quid DAF sell a fluid that could clean your injectors due to wax soft deposit build up in the fuel injection system or you can go spend £4000 on injectors what would you do?
