Bruce, you're getting to be like Matt from Diesel Creek, saving all this old iron and giving it a second chance at life. Nice to see old stuff getting some love👍
{GET THE TRAILER!!!!} Bruce, this is the type of video that is food to the soul of us "old timers". I started in my misspent youth in 1957 using a 1944 AUTOCAR ex NAVY tractor with a 50 ton winch for a large body shop. Some of those pulls were definately sketchy! Sure brings back many memories. The equipment today is in a different world that what was available then. The age if 6 volt batteries. Those WHITE tractors were very common in fact the gasoline delivery tanker (ATLANTIC RICHFIELD) was one of the first diesels readily available. Please keep up the great videos like this in the future.
To think, You went from Will it starts in backwoods Florida to operating a Big Ole Wrecker Truck!!! "Outstanding Job, I'm So Proud of You!!!! You've Came a Long Way!!!!
31:49 I owned a 1972 cabover Petrrbuilt it had a six V 92 Detroit. I drove it coast to coast, no po wer steering or ac , just fans no air ride spring suspension.
That old girl DESERVES a complete RESTORATION! She'd be a PERFECT Candidate - all original and COMPLETE and undamaged! It would be GREAT for Parades, etc - You could paint your logo on the doors and the trailer and even put her to work occasionally!
You're truly one of a kind. The effort you tap into is unprecedented these days. You're old school facade is captivating and inspiring, hopefully there are some younger folk watching your videos and getting an education, getting not only an education but also picking up some lifelong lessons on being honest, working hard and most of all remaining positive when it seems the world is full of obstacles that seek to hold your passion still.
If at all possible, you should buy the trailer as well. Then you have a complete set, of old preservable unit and trailer which would be a great attraction both for the channel and the shop. SO glad you went back and found the owner, who knows what you may find once you really get to look. Thanks from UK.
That old White is badass for sure, you guys should definitely go back n save the trailer that was hooked up to it. Grab the VW pickup as well, really desirable among the VW people.
24 years ago I got to work a little on a 47 white Super Power just like this. It has a Straight 6 cylinder gas engine. The White script was cast into every part of the engine. And the box under the dash is the same heater the one I worked on had. Cool trucks always liked the looks of them.
Brings back memories of some ass busting work. In the 80s, the company I worked for has a '62 White. It was white in color. At that time we delivered primarily produce. They even had an old single axle trailer that had an antique refrigeration system for the lack of a better description. Used ice not freon. I didn't have any experience with it and I'm don't regret that. No turbo, just the engine. Drug going up a hill and fly going down.
My Dad drive an old White like that over the road in the early 1950’s during the summer months working his way through school. Hot tough work back then. Not a real comfortable ride on the long haul either. Sure like to see that one up and running. Handsome old girl.
Honestly: take the super-massive job on restoring the White. Not necessary to showroom level, but "nice working truck" level of restoration. WITH THE TRAILER! That would be beyond amazing, because White trucks are something you can't find anywhere these days. Well, maybe Australia, but they are going fast and it's part of trucking history in itself.
Bruce just over here the whole time "do not touch the trim" 😂 love seeing old iron saved like that even if you dont restore it someone might want to. Would look good just out in front of the shop with some clear coat or shine juice on it.
Those old White Super Power’s/ Mustang’s were everywhere in my youth. Mostly single and tandem axle dump trucks and cement mixers. So small compared to todays tandem axle tractors.
There should be some points to attach a snach block to real low on the back of your rotator to redirect the winch line to be able to pull low to the ground so you wont get in to the bumper
This video is the 1st ive Liked in a long time, please dont destroy it Bruce, she is a beautiful old piece of american trucking history, I hope you do it well
Those old White trucks came with all kinds of engines in the many different models over the years, some models even had gas engines, like a 440 big block, and others had Cummins turbo-diesel engines, and some of the smaller compact trucks had Ford, Perkins, or Detroit Diesel engines in them. Yesterday I thought it was like a 1946, but they all look alike, but now looking at the front wheels It must be around a 1950 or newer.
These were built with flat head in line six cylinder gas engines, usually had a straight 5 speed and straight rear ends. My Dad and uncle drove these in the 50's in w. Pa. Oh,the stories they told !!!
My kind of a Truck, I wish I was sixty years younger and knew what I know now. I would still have my first trucks running and working. Government killed Trucking when Nixon was President. Thanks to him many of we Mid America Truckers lost everything and have never been able to recuperate.
From recovering several dozen cars and trucks buried in or overgrown with weeds and other vegetation I quickly learned that a week or two before you go and recover the truck /try and get them running etc that you spray the truck and its surrounding with Round-Up or similar weed killer and then if possible come back and weed whip around the truck. Doing so helps get rid of critters and other creepy crawling things. Additionally experience has taught me that it is a good idea to let rescued treasures like that old White and Pete to sit a few days before out in the parking lot before bringing them into the shop to give and critters and creepy crawly things a chance to leave under their own and then new treasure a nice long bath with a steam cleaner/pressure-washer. Personally I don’t like bringing snakes, mice, rats, opossums, raccoons, etc much less insects into my shop if I don’t have to. PS A snatch block should be attached to a low point on the Wrecker so that the cable is pulling straight as possible towards the hook point of the truck that is being pulled instead of pulling on an
While serving in Vietnam there are so many service members not yet found! Let's never forget them! When I use to run in my Peterbilt coast to coast I would see these all over the place. Now they are hard to find!
I cant wait to see this restored and looking beautiful. The trailer should be grabbed as well. Just the teeny view of the front of the trailer looked vintage as well.
I have never watched your channel before. I AM HOOKED (no pun intended) after watching this recovery. What a stunnung beauty of a tractor. This is an amazing find. Great work.
I say to remove the loose rust, and then use a clear coat to stop the rust any further, but will then keep the rustic charm on the 50 year old truck, then find another one to restore to full glory then park them both together as a garage moto one either side of the driveway.
That White tractor probably at the start had a straight 6 gas motor made by White motor company. Monstrous things to work on. I’m think that that tractor can out after the White Mustangs also known as Snubnose, the hood was barely three feet long and with a 220 cummins in it with a ten speed road ranger the stick shift was touching the back wall of the cab. Drove one during the tomato season in Chatham On. for Charron transport.
The 2 loves of my life after my wife is old iron and Heavy Duty Towing and Recovery. You can learn a lot about your rotator, but it takes years to master. Much like learning how to work on the old trucks, it only comes with experience. Make sure to always work within your Working Load Limits (WLL), and use cable breaking techniques for winch pulls. Your spreader bar would have been good to spread out the pull for that load to avoid the sharper angle from the front to the rear of that truck when you hoisted it up.
Bruce you need to get in touch with Ron Pratt. He's got a wrecker like your's. He's a god when it comes to it. His company is Midwest truck out of Missouri.
That's an old Sckool vintage beauty when restoring it looks like a 1930's era tractor Bruce and it's a white 🤍 Ford motor company made white tractor's back in the day i was doing some research bro.😊
Buy the trailer too. Truck and trailer been together so long it would be like separating a mother from her newborn. Definitely would be a sight at a truck show when both can be restored to its glory.
Serious comment this time…both truck are awesome I agree with some of the other comments I think the white would look awesome brought back to its original state.
Looking forward to seeing that first truck you pulled out the brush run again. To restore it back to its original beauty. Are you by chance related to Lewis Wilson?
Original engine was a continental flathead gasoline, some had Hallscot propane engines. Some may have had flathead 6 cylinder made by White Motor. None of these came with a diesel that I ever saw.
I have a '52 White Super Power schoolbus, with the original running engine, a White 318 cu. in. straight six flathead. Gets around 7 mpg but what a blast on a camping trip!
Buy the trailer too and restore both
Agreed keep the combo
@@dustinbelknap9207 and some of the parts will have to be made by hand… don’t think I have ever seen any body panels hand made on Bruce’s channel.
Buy the trailer too. Vintage stuff like that should be kept together.
They have been a matching pair for decades it's only right to keep them together
Yes,and get rid of the added on axle and make it single axle.
You should restore the white & the trailer together, They would be the gems of the channel!
Bruce, you're getting to be like Matt from Diesel Creek, saving all this old iron and giving it a second chance at life. Nice to see old stuff getting some love👍
Bruce would just ruin it or tear it up 😢
Matt saves the old stuff and keeps it going on original stuff❤
I was thinking the same thing
Matt actually keeps it and fixes it. Bruce will more than likely just take it somewhere and leave it or part it out later.
There's no comparison.
Restore the rigs and keep the rigs. Having historic trucks is a honor.
THAT OLD WHITE IS TRULY A GEM! NOT MANY OF THOSE LEFT IN THE WORLD THAT AREN'T RUSTY THRASH PILES. IT WOULD BE AWESOME TO RESTORE...

Buy the trailer keep it together
The trailer is part of history. This is so cool watching you guys rescue these vehicles 👏👏👏
Yes, It is history. When it runs, I am thrilled as you are.
To think, You went from Will it starts in backwoods Florida to operating a Big Ole Wrecker Truck!!! "Outstanding Job, I'm So Proud of You!!!! You've Came a Long Way!!!!
It will take a lot of work and money, but you will have video content for months.
Look forward to watching it come back to life.
31:49 I owned a 1972 cabover Petrrbuilt it had a six V 92 Detroit. I drove it coast to coast, no po wer steering or ac , just fans no air ride spring suspension.
Bruce you might wanna have information about the towing from Ron Pratt at Midwest Truck. He is the man when it comes to towing
The rotator he has looks a lot like Ron prats
Was about to suggest the same thing.
Ron Pratt would not approve of this loading method! 🙂
Thanks!
Keep the trailer with the truck

Bruce, if you have not seen the 70s movie called Duel with Dennis Weaver, you should. This Truck made me recall the movie.
Joey member I remember that movie I watched it a couple of times
Joey member that old Peterbilt in the movie had a bumper that you couldn't damage
Lake has turned out to be quite the competent helper. Great job Lake!
281 or 251😅 duell. Beautiful OLDIE

This is So Cool!!! I'm Glad You Bought it!!!!!
Bruce, if you restore this beauty, it will be an outstanding truck period!!!
These old trucks are just as cool as the classic cars of the times, they all have their place in history and interest!
Love seeing the Ole iron saved from scrap thank you brother
If you can rebuild this please save it. It will be worth it. Thank you keep up the great work buddy 👍

I like that a lot the enthusiasm and Bruce's voice about saving it bringing it back to life
It's so heartwarming to see people taking the time to restore these classics. Hats off to you!

I agree get that trailer not many of them left. Nice job with the rotator👍 a little training helps
I’m soo happy to see you guys trying to save an old truck instead of destroying it. Good luck to everyone.!
While serving in Vietnam there are so many service members not yet found! Let's never forget them! When I use to run in my Peterbilt coast to coast I would see these all over the place. Now they are hard to find!
Your back get-r-done, keep up the good work.
What beautiful old Dames.. they need love. Please restore them. At least the White.

Buy the Trailer if it in good enough shape Bruce that Trailer looks good with the truck.

That old White would make an awesome parade/show truck to promote the channel.

I will say mad respect to you Bruce because you took very nice care of this truck to get it from one place to another
Serious comment this time…both truck are awesome I agree with some of the other comments I think the white would look awesome brought back to its original state.

Very handy for dirty recovery work..
A full restore would be so so nice

Watching you guys in Olongapo Philippines ❤
Looking forward to seeing that first truck you pulled out the brush run again. To restore it back to its original beauty. Are you by chance related to Lewis Wilson?
I love restoring old vehicles!! This thing is kook!!! Also love seeing you rescuing old iron with the new iron!!
Rescue the trailer also!!
