    Today on the podcast we're taking a look at the tournament stats for large events this year. We go over the top performers, what we think they're doing well, and how we foresee them being positioned as time goes on. We also touch on a few key underperformers and the issues we think may be causing them to be so drastically different than the popular perceptions of them.

      My favorite deck is Yuriko. But I know exactly why it doesn't perform. It doesn't have layers/axis to pivot on. No red for breach. No white for value engines. But it can run gnarly stax pieces like G.Cage and Chains of Mesto.
      The shock to me was Malcom Grixis. I thought it went 1. Blue Farm 2. Najeela NBC 3. Rog/Si 4. Winota Snowball 5. Malcom/Vial. In my mind when I pull a list from the DDB and start combing through it. I try to pretend like 3 out of those 5 are in my pod. I wonder what chair I'm in. Will the Grixis players who went down to 4 wheel on turn 2. Do I have enough interaction for winota and najeela. Ect

    I know it's a lot of work to edit, but some pop ups for the cards and decks you are talking about would be helpful for newer players in the cedh space. Yes we can go look them up, but sometimes just seeing a card helps to reinforce the points you make. Love the content though, I watch every video.

      @Kamikaze Chicken we definitely will! We've had some technical issues, which is why the facecam isn't here. Hopefully it's resolved by the next episode.

    Hey great podcast. I've been listening to cedh stuff casually (lol?) and slowly building some lists. I don't plan on playing anything big and I really appreciate your take on things. It shows a sensitivity to newer players without talking down to them (or jargoning them out) and it's also a pretty sober take on each deck's weaknesses and story. I've been building a winota and it's good to know ahead of time that it's just gonna get hated on. Had some recent success with tivit and it's good to hear how different variations can work in different metas. Keep up the good work, i'll be tuning in!

      Glad you've been enjoying it! I always work to make accessible content and am definitely going to keep it up!
      Going in with Winota knowing you're likely to eat hate is always helpful, and it's a deck in general I think is tough when your opponents respect it. Tivit is a great one to get going with.

    you guys had some good takes but i think that your sample size of results from events in 2023 is way too small. PWP did an episode recently like this one but they were very hesitant to come to any conclusions due to lack of data and they were taking results from an entire year. Notable differences between what you mentioned vs their takes is that blue farm has been overall underperforming for it's representation and TnT has been over preforming. I know the point of this video is to look at the meta of 2023 but when you only can look at so few results it's almost guaranteed the the data is skewed in a misleading direction. overall great video though, i enjoy discussions like this.

    • @LemorasCards
      @LemorasCards  Год назад

      I think the issue with looking at the last year or so of cEDH is that a lot of the popular decks right now have seen big shake-ups mostly since the second half of last year. Blue Farm Cavern/Lavinia tech, turbo Najeela, Rog/Si Bryant Cook variants are all things you didn't really see early last year.
      We plan to do one of these every three months or so, so we'll look to see how these stats line up as the results increase and then we'll see how representative they are.

    • @yesimchar
      @yesimchar Год назад +1

      @@LemorasCards that is a really good point. the meta shaker cards would make a big difference in how they start to play out. it'll be really interesting to see over the next year of events what adaptations appear to continue breaking the mold. I'll look forward to your other videos on it then. also, i couldn't find a good way to say this so i apologize but hear me out..channel name idea.. "mystic Lemora". your channel name is great but it was 4am and it hit me so i had to share😂.
