Turning up the volume ~ getting lost in this song ~ remembering a 'time' when there was no computers or cell phones ~ no social media ~ we did what really mattered and that was actually hanging out with friends and 'being there' for each other ~
God bless whoever posted this. It harks back to a bygone era when the music was the best. It was the best time to be alive and growing up. Posting from the year 2024.
if you wanna throw GOD in to the mix, God is not the God of I was, nor the God of I will be, he is the God of NOW, his name is I AM!!! No time to lose! I never heard this before MTV, it was like 2-3 years old. 1 of my favorites!
Where did the time go,Steve??? I didn't graduate, but if I had it would have been class of 82. St.Louis was such a great place to grow up in the 70's/80's. It made me who I am,and I ain't bad!!! Midwest values,Midwest mind.....and I love some great music that people out here on the west coast SHOULD have grown up listening to,but never even heard of!!!! It's beautiful out here, but so so many people are screwed up in mind and spirit out here. I wish it weren't that way.....anyhoo,nice chatting at you home boy! xoxo!!!
Awesome,Larry!!!!! If I would have finished high school,I would have been class of 78_ Webster Groves high school.....but,alas,I was a wild child and thought I could learn more from"real" life than I could in school...lol!! BUT...I did get my GED :):):):) I sure do miss the world as it was when I was growing up. Back then it was LIVE,AND LET LIVE,not all this STUPID political correctness. SCREW POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. ALL of us have the right to speak what we believe. ALL OF US. Anyhoo.....peace to you.
Every day I walk in shadows I know not what it is Heading for And as the evening lies dying A gentle heart dies near me sighing It's still the same You'll never change You can never understand We can now be like water Don't need more to find our way Just get on where we came It's a game What a game No time to lose No time to lose No time to lose No time to lose Go with the flow Never let go No time to lose There ain't no way to see forever It's only day to day I'm living for Like a wheel you keep me turning Put your love inside me burning Questions plain When you're lovin' me You can never understand We can now be like water Don't need more to find our way Just get on where we came It's a game What a game No time to lose No time to lose No time to lose No time to lose Go with the flow Never let go No time to lose You can never understand We can now be like water Don't need more to find our way Just get on where we came It's a game No time to lose No time to lose No time to lose No time to lose Go with the flow Never let go No time to lose No time to lose No time to lose No time to lose No time to lose
The first time I heard this was in 1979. I was intrigued because the guitar and bass riffs reminded me of Lindsey Buckingham and John McView from Fleetwood Mac. What a great pop/rock song!!
Wandering YT, saw Spencer Davis, thought about some old band blank Spencer, then Tarney finally came to mind, and had to search Tarney Spencer. I haven't heard this song in maybe 25 years. Always liked it and used to have the 8 track. Thanks for sharing.
Ohhh shit!! It has been decades since I heard this beauty! Thank you for posting. How can great songs like this just be put in a drawer and forgotten? Great song.
Alan Tarney and Trevor Spencer are two Australian guys who were in a band called"The James Taylor Move" along with the great guitarist Kevin Peek,in 1967.Before that they were in a band called "John Broome and The Handels",also with Kevin Peek.
The original Tarney Spencer video that TheRebel2007 is referring to was the very first video I ever saw on MTV, back in 1981. I was wondering what happened to that one too. Anyway, thanks for the MTV memories! :)
I've been listening to Terry Britten's compositions recently, admiring his song writing ability. He and Tarney have written songs for Cliff Richard, and Tarney is responsible for Cliff's success in the 70's producing records for him. Tarney is also responsible for a-ha's success with Take On Me. He produced their record, improving the sound of that song immensely. I remember hearing this song played on KNX fm in Los Angeles.
I was looking for old songs id forgotten about & Somehow found this, Taxxi/Im Leaving AND OMG all those great early 80's HIT songs by SHOOTING STAR like Last Chance & Hollywood.
My favorite Southern California rock station, 99.9 KOLA radio, played this tune. I'd stay up nights waiting for them to play it. Found this by chance cruising a friend's Last.fm profile. What a gem!
This was one of those great songs that fell through the cracks of Rock radio which our California FM station played regularly to confound the competition. And, it worked too because even our listeners were not familiar with it until we made it part of our playlist.
Songs come and songs go, but this one stays atop my list of favorites. The 70's were so memorable for so many reasons, and this is but one of many bright spots, musically speaking.
I grew up as a kid with this and went into rap. I guess I can say on both sides we need to respect all music whether rock/country/classical/blues/rap/punk/ska/etc. Every type of music has it's moment and purpose. This ones definitely a keeper for the history books.
I was sitting at my desk at the office and thinking about how I'm supposed to get everything done that I needed to. I thought to myself, I've got to get on it, I've got no time to lose. Wait. That's a song. I come to youtube and here it is. Thanks for feeding my need.
totally my junior high years.... great tune... KY102 KYYS in Kansas City MO with Max, Tanner, Moffit, Dick and Jay... or at least that's the DJ's I remember from a once great radio station gone to the waif side.
Thanx for posting this. I forgot about how much I loved this song until reading about former New Seeker member Peter Doyle working with Tarney and Spencer. They also wrote a few hits for--believe it or not--Olivia Newton-John. I wore this record out!
I think it's saying the past is gone, don't cling to yesterday. Nothing lasts forever so when the time comes for something that was good to end, let go as quickly as possible and try to live in the now as much as you can. All we have is today. Try to be like water and just go with flow. This is much easier said than done, that's why when someone writes a great song about it, it sticks in your head.
Heard this for the first time in July of 83 in DC. Was there for a meeting. Came back to OK and much later heard it here. I know the date 'cause I found out later that daughter #1 was conceived during that trip!
Nah, this was playing every morning when we woke up to the hotel clock radio. Mostly heard the chorus there, didn't put it together with the intro for months. Man, haven't been called 'boy' for years...
Hahahahaa! Totally haven't heard that for at least 15 years. I'm gonna be 53 and that just blew my mind typing that, oh I still feel like a high school kid! lol nice talkin to ya beest.
I don't know what it is, but when I hear this song, it reminds me of my child hood back in the 80's. I'm not sure if this was when it was released to the radio??
True. But i don't think it's only about romantic relationships either. It could be the end of a close friendship, and not necessarily in a bad way. Like maybe one of you gets married, or has to move far away to pursue an educational or career opportunity. Or it could be a special group of friends. What 1st came to my mind was a nightclub I worked in about 20 years ago & what a tight group we were. Then one day it closed. We went our separate ways. But I did think of a couple former lovers too.
God this song is great....another hidden gem.I remember seeing this on MTV back in 81 n loved it.Is there a legit reissue of this album? I would get it anybody out there know?
I don't know why I didn't check here sooner for this, but I've been wanting to hear this song again since 1982! One of the first videos on the once acceptable MTV. I've loved it since then and can't get it out of my head now. Thanks for posting it!
Will always remind me of that 79 T/A 6.6 4 speed I had. Nocturne blue with the gold bird. Used to crank up the Mindblowers and tweeters when this song played.
I have the 8 track. (WHOA!) I have the original vinyl LP, unplayed. I had the cassette but someone stole it. Dunno if there's a T/S CD out there. Now if there was ever a VH1 'bands reunited' THIS would be it.
Turning up the volume ~ getting lost in this song ~ remembering a 'time' when there was no computers or cell phones ~ no social media ~ we did what really mattered and that was actually hanging out with friends and 'being there' for each other ~
Bryan Bell ~ so true ~ I agree ~ communication breakdown ~
Maybe this song inspired 'Waiting On a Friend' by the Stones??
***** ~ could be ~ and it could be that "Time Is On My Side" by the Stones influenced this one ; )
Since 'time is on my side' I still got time to catch that 'midnight train to Georgia' :)
***** ~ You may not want to get there tonight ~ "Tonight's the Night that the Lights Went Out in Georgia" ~
Still rocking to this ageless piece of art. ❤️ 2023

Every day I walk in shadows
I know not what it is
Heading for
And as the evening lies dying
A gentle heart dies near me sighing
It's still the same
You'll never change
You can never understand
We can now be like water
Don't need more to find our way
Just get on where we came
It's a game
What a game
No time to lose
No time to lose
No time to lose
No time to lose
Go with the flow
Never let go
No time to lose
There ain't no way to see forever
It's only day to day
I'm living for
Like a wheel you keep me turning
Put your love inside me burning
Questions plain
When you're lovin' me
You can never understand
We can now be like water
Don't need more to find our way
Just get on where we came
It's a game
What a game
No time to lose
No time to lose
No time to lose
No time to lose
Go with the flow
Never let go
No time to lose
You can never understand
We can now be like water
Don't need more to find our way

It's a game
No time to lose
No time to lose
No time to lose
No time to lose

No time to lose
No time to lose
No time to lose

I had forgotten this gem. Heard it on the radio today. Great great great song.
What radio station played this? Amazing!
@@MichaelPerez-ec1wm One of our "oldie" stations! We have several of those in town here.
Been checking all the time for obscure videos, GREAT PIC THANX.
Songs come and songs go, but this one stays atop my list of favorites. The 70's were so memorable for so many reasons, and this is but one of many bright spots, musically speaking.
In my mind, this was a number one, that went gold.

One of the best songs ever.
Haven't heard this one on KSHE 95 out of St. Louis in awhile. Great song, brings me back to the day when I first heard it as a kid.

This song is so damn good. Tarney and Spencer were a class act.
Such urgency! Building up. Let's go, love it
I can not believe that this not on Itunes we need to contact someone and have that issue addressed GREAT MEMORIES from my youth when i hear this
No matter what your age, the past went fast! Great tunage!
Wow!! Just found this song!! Haven't heard in yrs!! Thank you for posting this awesomely cool band!!!
I'm from Boston area and this song got a lot of airplay on WCOZ-FM 94.5 ("Kick Ass Rock 'n' Roll") back in 1980-81, when I was in high school.
They played all rock and roll and NO disco unlike the egghead frauds across town. Ozzy's boneyard on XM plays a very similar format now.
Simple times for sure. Miss them as well.
Makes me so nostalgic
Found WCOZ scanning the radio dial while on vacation in Boston, back in the 80s. Immediately fell in love with that station!
The best song of 1979 and still kicks ass today.
K-SHE-95 in Saint Louis used to play this in the rotation. Folks in St. Louis love this song.
I have never heard this song till today and I love it . Shame not recongized enough.
Good song! Does this bring back memories.
Thanks for psoting this...These songs are underappreciated now.
A great oldie.
One of the greatest songs ever

ell yeah!
One of my Top 10 favorite songs of all time.
I am 51 years old, and I don`t know this song either. Listened a lot to radio in the 70`s, though.
So glad that I was raised during the 60’s and 70’s by the Greatest Generation
totally my junior high years.... great tune... KY102 KYYS in Kansas City MO with Max, Tanner, Moffit, Dick and Jay... or at least that's the DJ's I remember from a once great radio station gone to the waif side.
I was just working and this song just popped into my memory. I grew up with this song.
this song got major airplay in the infant days of MTV. I haven't heard it since then. it still is pretty cool.
Thanx for posting this. I forgot about how much I loved this song until reading about former New Seeker member Peter Doyle working with Tarney and Spencer. They also wrote a few hits for--believe it or not--Olivia Newton-John. I wore this record out!

This is still such a great song....
Another song I haven't heard in ages until YT came along.
Nah, this was playing every morning when we woke up to the hotel clock radio. Mostly heard the chorus there, didn't put it together with the intro for months.
Man, haven't been called 'boy' for years...
Luckily, my local classic rock station has this on their "lost classic" playlist... Great tune!

@R Diaz Thanks, so it initially released in '79 then they did a re-release in early 80's?
It used to be here and has aired on VH1 Classic. I don't know why it was taken off You Tube, given that it's not really available anywhere else.
Been looking for this great song....!....a great era with great Rock n Roll...!
Jack Erickson how about Paul Rogers / free ? All right now? Didn't know two members of bad company was in that group!!

Great song, great songwriters and a great decade for music.
Found this album at goodwill recently, picked it up on a womb, glad I did! Solid record!
Lost classic! Listen to this song all the time!
one of the best bass lines from the late 70's and early 80's, along with Journey's Stone in Love
Gotta love the HEAVY bass line in the song! It snaps your musical soul AWAKE!
I have the 8 track. (WHOA!) I have the original vinyl LP, unplayed. I had the cassette but someone stole it. Dunno if there's a T/S CD out there. Now if there was ever a VH1 'bands reunited' THIS would be it.
