They were two Australians based in the U.K. during the 1970s at least. I heard their cover of Cathy’s Clown in the latter half of 1979 but didn’t know who they were. It’s only in 2011, I got to know who they were.
Better late than never I suppose but missed a great deal.

    • @ldolphin34

I always felt it was a culmination of the 70s, and was more defining of the seventies time than it was ahead of its time like it was trying to define the 80s. This has a classic 70s feel, and the changes in rhythm make you continue to pay attention. Sadly, the more music changes, the more it seemed to have to hold the same beat to attract that kind of audience, but this track defies all that to perfection.

Yeah, me too. I remember hearing this on the radio in mid to late 70's, when I was in grade school. And for some reason it popped up in my head recently, and I remembered how awesome it was. And I realized I didn't even know the name of the band that did it. Same story with Driver Seat. And, I gotta see if the rest of the songs are as good as this one. Even though it was the only one they played on the radio, back then. I found out that Tarney Spencer Band had at least 3 albums. I wanna hear the rest..... almost 40 years later, I wanna finally hear the rest.

No time to lose was re-released in 1981 and got to #74 on a side note.. Tarney is very successful as a producer, being highly involved in the production of Aha's ''take on me'' no joke, read for yourself..

This is the best quality copy of this song on RUclips, and I thank you over a million times for this wonderful work. The original video is also out here.
I live for the instrumental bridge on this song, the first big single away from Cliff Richard's pop/rock music team.

This is one song that's always been a minor hit but seems to get a lot of love by those who have heard of it, I always felt this song should've made at least the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100, I can easily picture Firefall or the Eagles doing this song.

I had heard this song, in the USA, in the early 80s. Each time I caught, I never heard who sang it. I went for years, with the lyrics wrong, and hence could not find the song. Finally, one day, the powers that be at You Tube threw this song at me, as a suggestion, and my life long quest, to find this song was ended.

RULES Forevermore!! The blonde on LP cover looks like a mixture of Jerry Hall/Pattie Hansen. Top fashion models in 1979 when this LP came out

Fun Fact: Tarney-Spencer band was a Two Man band in the studio. They did do lives shows but I believe they were hired guns to support them.
Past members, Trevor Spencer, Alan Tarney.
