LYRICS
My love is in league with the freeway
Its passion will ride, as the cities fly by
And the tail-lights dissolve, in the coming of night
And the questions in thousands take flight
My love is the miles and the waiting
The eyes that just stare, and the glance at the clock
And the secret that burns, and the pain that won't stop
And its fuel is the years
Leading me on - leading me down the road
Driving beyond
Driving me down the road
My love is exceeding the limit
Red-eyed and fevered with the hum of the miles
Distance and longing, my thoughts do collide
Should I rest for a while at the side
Your love is cradled in knowing
Eyes in the mirror, still expecting they'll come
Sensing too well when the journey is done
There is no turning back
No
There is no turning back
On the run
My love is in league with the freeway
Oh the freeway, and
The coming of night-time
My love
My love is in league with the freeway

@@Sean-wp7st Oh that is good question. Sadly I do not have an answer now. But I'm looking it up. Best. Rod.

I'm in a 1hr bus in NYC 1am listening. It's 2024... who's with me?
Music from America's golden years...we never really knew how good we had it. Music, art, culture, freedom. It's all degraded now. All of it. Sad
Their is no coming back, down the road..😮
I am.
This generation here don't know anything about this music or this generation where everything was so plain simple and easy living 2/6/ 2 4... Wish we can go back to those days
@@msMissy699 I have to agree, but its funny because I am sure the younger generation they got their own thing going on. I feel the same way, but I feel also its really pointless to even try to teach them about 20th century pop music. You have to remember this music is 40 years old. Now when we were younger in 1984, think about it, would we even care about stuff that was made in 1944, and the answer is really no. The older generation felt the same way we do today, and my grandparents said the same thing about our generation as we were up and coming, this generation does not know music and they don't make music like that anymore. So its the classical scenario of us going from being the younger generation to the older generation and now our grandparent's age. Younger generation does not understand older generation, older generation saids the same thing about younger generation. Always been like that since the dawn of man. Just human nature and perception I guess.

Listening in 2024, just discovered this amazing song! 73 years old and have loved Led Zepplin and RP from the start! How I missed this????
Nikada nije kasno za nova otkrića. Ja imam 62 i uvijek volim slušati RP . Pozdrav iz Hrvatske( Croatia), ❤
You were probably raising your teenage kids and missed it.

Same here i noticed concert tickets are on sale to go see him and I decided to see what what his solo work sounds like and I’m definitely buying a ticket
It's a hidden jem. The guitar work is absolutely incredible. I have spent several years in South East Asia and this takes me back to a time of smoke filled bars , cheap beer and plenty of bar girls
That Robbie Blunt guitar playing is absolutely perfect.
One of the most beautiful, haunting and majestic rock songs ever written.

Yes. All these years and it still puts me in a mood.
I first remember hearing this on a drizzly November night back in 1983 over the stereo at the house of my mom's best friend and co-worker. The lyrics and moodscape burned a permanent impression into my brain.

One of the best songs of ALL time
I was born in 1970, so the early 80's were great years for me. I remember them like a soft-focus, sunlight drenched, dream-like memory.
All my senses & physicality were at 100%. I had an optimistic, playful, positive view of the world. It all seemed so much better and more fun then.
This wonderful song was important to me then, and is important to me now.
Oh, to be young again.
Same here. The first time I heard this on MTV, I was hooked immediately. It's still one of my favorite songs to this day.

Life is about choices and, choose wisely. Love to look back on this but to relive all those years, no thanks. Happier in the here and now!😊🙏🏼

I'll never forget the dance, Tony. Forever in my heart, and the memories will always linger! I hope you remember too❤.

Nearly as good as Robin Trower.
Guitar on this by Robbie Blount I thought!?
@@ramjamflimflam You are 100% correct. It was In through the Out Door album that Jimmy hated his playing on. I'll delete my incorrect comment.
@@ramjamflimflam thank you for that! Seriously I've always loved the guitar in this song and have always referred to it "the mystery guitarist" and now I know.
Robbie Blunt DIGGING into the strings of that out of phase strat. Epic !
