  • I had a total hysterectomy laparoscopic (LAVH) with the Da Vinci Method on April 11th 2016. I had my uterus, both fallopian tubes, left ovary and cervix removed.
I had this performed in hopes of easing my chronic pain condition PCS or Pelvic Congestion Syndrome.

Day 3 post laproscopic surgery here. My biggest tips are don't lie down - sit or recline instead (to prevent shoulder pain), use 16hr heat patches on the shoulders, use different types of laxatives around the clock (osmotic/Miralax, stool softener/Dulcolax, stimulant/Senna) because they work in different ways. Eat light, nothing that causes gas like soda, straws, beans, dairy (in my case). Oh and get a stool for the potty. I swear you won't need to strain. Drink lots of water and WALK AROUND, as much as you can tolerate. Movement wakes up your bowels, prevents blood clots, and gets that trapped gas out. The only way out of the pain is through it. Day 3 and I've already stopped taking pain meds. You can do it !!

I am 2 days post full laprascopic hysterectomy and actually feel amazing comparing myself to some. I'm up bathed hair washed and even sorted my gel nail I had to strip! I'm taking it easy but will be fighting fit in a few weeks. I have had no pain at all. It's a very scary operation to have but am pleased with my Consultant and his team.

MrsCheekyDebs please don’t get cocky and push it too far without meds. I made that mistake. Ended up crying, shaking, sweating out the pain until the meds caught up. Speedy healing to you!

MrsCheekyDebs, I am 5 days post, I don't consider you cocky at all...I am feeling great, no pain, no narcotics at all. I was up walking an hour after waking up in recovery. I've been taken 800mg ibprophen every 4/6 hours. I think we just recover well and possibly high pain tolerance. My prayers for the ones that aren't doing as well.. God speed

God bless your sister. I just went through a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I had multiple fibrods one of which was 7 cm. They developed during my twin girl pregnancy I lost them during a 7 month vaginal birth. They lived but not long. They passed August 6 2018. And I got my hysterectomy January 21 2020. It was much needed since I wasn't able to work since the pregnancy and loss of my girls. I'll be 30 this coming January 29th. However it's been good recovery. I will mention that during the removal of my fibrods the ended up damaging my bladder or nicking it, so in order for it to heal they have me on a catheter. I stayed 3 days in the hospital. The pain management was good considering. It wasn't pain from the incisions but from my muscles being stuck in the 4 hour surgery. I cant help but describe the relief despite coming out of anesthesia and being on diloted, the pain that I constantly felt was gone. It compare it to having a really bad cavity and that pain is the only thing you can focus on. Your not able to chew so you naturally compensate. I felt that once my "tooth" was removed even though I was numbed up that once pulled I had clarity and focus which was depleted continuously before. I'm now on day 5 and I'm doing stairs but I do have the catheter in which I feel even more of the need to stand up and walk around. So far I will say my recover is going well. I know that Godand the holy spirit is with my in my daily journey and he greatness is being shown through my experience. As soon as I get better I will be able to help others in their own journey with our father. Thanks you for sharing your story. God bless.

Just ran across your channel. Had my surgery on 10/18/2016, and I was discharged on yesterday so today was my first full day at home and I feel like crap. I must say I agree with you about keeping up with the times that you take your medication because I overslept lastnight and missed my 2am dosage, and woke up feeling like I was in a torture chamber. Thanks for sharing!

Your so welcome lady! Ugh I know how that goes and it's not fun. I hope you start feeling better soon. Are you getting a lot of help around the house though so you can get lots of rest?

I am day three post op from the same surgery.....I really don't like not being able to do anything; But to everyone, get stool softeners and take Gas X.....you will thank yourself. I had my first bowel movement today and was so happy; Today is first day of no pain meds.....went to ibuprofen, seems to take the edge off; Pain meds will make you constipated, and I'm not having any of that. Friends reassure me, give me hope; they say the first week is the worst. I am super anxious to get to week two; Take care, and share your experiences because it helps others.

Hi Blair, I just had total abdominal hysterectomy April 5th 2017 this is day 3 post op for me and you are right about the pain, if you don't take the pain killers, the pain can be very unbearable. I don't have much appetite, and have not being able to have a bowel movement which is very frustrating that can't go to bathroom, tried all the medicine that doctors gave me to be able to go to bathroom, but I just guess takes time after this major trauma into my body for my bowels to regain motion and start to work again. I walk very slow because the incision still very tender and hurts and I do hunch a little bit, tried to straight up but hurts. So all this recovery process will take time. Thanks for your video.

I had my hysterectomy on Monday, 4.20.2017. I'm managing my pain with Motrin. It feels like the worst sore muscles anyone could have. Coughing is a nightmare. Once I empty my bladder walking a bit straighter is easier. This is day 4 for me. Good luck with your recovery.

I'm on day 3 of robotic hysterectomy. Its definitely the worst day. I'm hunched over and get tired very easily. My belly feels like I've been kicked by a horse.

I’m 29 and I just had a vaginal hysterectomy on Friday 12/27/19 I’m still in pain. I’m really not eating like I use to but I am walking as much as I can. More cramping then anything. Everything was taken except my ovaries.
