    I had a hysterectomy on Nov 14 and I had no pain after I. I took 1 pain pill the night I got home and took some gas x for the gas but other then that I had no pain. I cooked a full Thanksgiving meal and everything. The hysterectomy was the best thing for me. Today has been 3 weeks and I am still pain free. I have been avoiding lifting heavy things but this was the best decision I have ever made. My doctor said that I was very strong and even during surgery he noticed how strong I was. My incision healed fast but I am experiencing a little scare tissue but I had 3 c-sections and had a lot of that so I did expect that. I went in to surgery with the mindset that I not gonna allow this to put me down. I spoke strength into my surgery and recovery. Good luck to anyone having a hysterectomy.

As far as pain,I was in far more pain (fibroids (20😬) horrific bleeding and cramping) before surgery. I didn't take pain meds aside from ibuprofen. She's absolutely right about constipation;you REALLY want to avoid it. I used Traditional Medicinals Smooth Move Tea in addition to a stool softener and it helped exponentially. My recovery was great. Don't overdo it and it's really easy to do! Make sure you have someone at your beck and call essentially. You might not need them like that,but you don't want to find out otherwise either. This video is super informative per my experience. Do yourself a favor,get a heating pad and a neck pillow. I am day 6 after laparascopic total hysterectomy; the pain from surgery was negligible but the pain from the gas and the constipation floored me for almost 2 days! I had my postop check yesterday and the nurse laughed and told me this was very common. Why didn’t they explain beforehand? I am walking around but feeling really tired, achy and pathetic……….that somebody as fit (and young) as you felt tired and achy was something that comforted me. I am normal, not pathetic. @@lynettealston6283 hang in there. You have had major surgery and it is traumatic. No surprise that you feel bad. With ovaries intact you should not have an instant menopause - that is good in the long run. Gentle walking for the gas pain, with pain relief as you feel you need. Remember, take it early and take it frequently. And don’t forget some laxatives; the constipation sneaks up on you and will make you feel bad as well as anxious. • @vonnie1149
    @vonnie1149 Год назад +4

    Hey, I had my hysterectomy back in October of 2022. I’m 40 yrs old and I only got my uterus and cervix removed. My ovaries were fine. They cut my bladder in 2 different places so I had to go home with the Foley catheter for 3 weeks. That was uncomfortable because your bladder has spasms due to a tube being inside of it. But I had to stay in the hospital for 3 days because my surgery started out as laparoscopic but they had to do the c-section cut due to my bladder being right under one of the fibroids I had. I know I had 3 of them and the largest was the size of a large orange. But the very next day I was up and walking. Not like my normal walk, I was moving slow but I had no pain. The nurse gave me my meds on time even if I didn’t have pain to prevent me from eventually having pain. Even when I was taking a nap I told her to make sure to wake me to receive my meds. Being at home after surgery was ok…. I had pain only due to the spasms in my bladder due to having the catheter. I had to see a urologist which was the dr who repaired my bladder during my surgery. He gave me a medication to help with the spasms because they hurt like hell. I was in pain for 2 1/2 hrs before the meds kicked in. So I made sure to take those on time daily so I don’t suffer with that anymore. Other than that I was fine. They removed the foley 3 weeks later. I got a sonogram done on my bladder to make sure all was well. I saw my Gyno atleast 3-4 times after my surgery. The only issue I’m having now is this sharp pain when I urinate and once I pass gas after I urinate the pain goes away. My guess is due to having a empty space there it may be air trapped inside. But I’m no dr so I’m going to see the Gyno Urologist to give me a better understanding of what’s really happening there. Also, the constipation was a bit difficult. I had stool softeners and miralax to help me to move my bowels. The gas was also a killer. That pain was horrible. I started to go for walks outside to help me pass the gas easier being that I went for longer walks outside instead of the few steps inside the house. I feel better today other than the gas like pain when I urinate. I’m glad I got my procedure done. I knew it was time because my cycle was lasting for 15 days each month I had blood transfusions and iron infusions. I was hospitalized twice for having low iron( level 2) and my hemoglobin was 5.5. Also the day of my surgery my cycle began while I was dressed for surgery and I had the IV from anesthesia in. I went to the bathroom and bled on the floor smh 🤦🏾‍♀️. That solidified my decision. I’m glad to be free of that. I hope my comment helps someone. Good luck to you all.

My husband found me in the morning and thought I was dead. I fell on my right side and cut off blood flow to my right leg which caused massive muscle death and Rhabdomyolysis. I was in there for a week to make sure my kidneys and liver didn’t get overwhelmed. I'm thankful for a surgeon who cared. My nurses cared. My primary care doctor sent over a physician to check on me, who worked at the hospital. He hugged me and wished me well as he left and I was being dismissed that same day, he also recommended I was ready to go home after two days in the hospital. I'm glad everything worked out. I removed my ovaries as well. My doctor advised against hormonal replacement it's been said to be connected to different cancers. Also, ladies I'd you have ovaries do know that now that you don't have your tubes there's no way to tell if you come down with ovarian cancer. The tubes is what alerts you that something is wrong with your ovaries. Without it, she generally won't find out until stage 4 that her ovaries are stricken with cancer. By then of course it's too late. Please talk to your doctor. I just dug deep with my questions and my pc is absolutely brilliant and very transparent. You're never lost with him.

    Thank you that was really helpful. I am 60, and because I kept getting polyps and continued irregular bleeding, for past 7yrs, gynaecologist recommended that maybe I should go for hysterectomy. Just the uterus and Fallopian tubes were taken out. I did have constipation for a week, and since I prefer natural form of laxatives so was eating ripe papaya which definitely helped me. I am back to normal now after 2.5 weeks, but I do have bloating issues and whenever I go to the washroom, have pain in the mid/low section of my belly. I don’t see my gynaecologist for another 3 weeks, but I guess I can call my family doc to see what’s going on. The only thing about my family doc she puts her patients on meds right away. As a child always hated meds, and with my mom passing away with liver/ bile duct cancer, everyone in my family now stays away from meds as much as possible. Anything else anyone can recommend here would be great. Preferably natural form of cure. Thanks.

That pain was very uncomfortable. Nurse to me to not hold my breath and small pushes. I wish more people talented about this.

    I haven’t finished this video yet but the part where you mention how it can take up to a full year after surgery to feel normal is so true. My first surgery was in 2015 for gallbladder and I never felt normal again. A year later was appendix and endometriosis related. A few months later I discovered hernias where 2 of my gallbladder surgery ports were. Had those ‘fixed’ in 2019. Hysterectomy is booked for a few days from now and I will need to go back later this year to fix hernias (previous surgery failed). The whole “take it easy” thing is no joke at all and I wish someone would have told me that feeling ‘normal’ could take longer than the 6-12 weeks so I didn’t overdue it because I ‘should have been fine’. Thank you so much for sharing that and I hope someone hears this and it saves them from any further complications!

Now 17 years later, I was literally just informed its super important that I am on HT now. I am very scared of the negative effects of lack of proper hormones all these years.

    Thank you for the informative video. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer 15 months ago and I have finally made the decision for the removal of all my reproductive organs. I think the decision was brought on by the news I had developed lung cancer. The relief that this was a new primary site and not a secondary from the endometrial cancer is indescribable. This has spurred me on to say yes to the hysterectomy. I feel better informed now I have seen your site. So I would like to say thank you for taking most of the fear of the op ...and what comes after away😘

    Thanks for this video! I also enjoyed your Prolapse safe exercise video. I'm two weeks out from a total laparoscopic hysterectomy due to some pretty big uterine fibroids. I was super diligent about the stool softeners and fiber every night, and didn't have too much constipation, but oh man the gas pains were the worst! Also, my throat was just so raw from being intubated, it made me cough and that was just horrible. I am a fitness instructor so it has been really difficult for me to not want to jump back into my workouts.

    How many of you were completely over the top anxiety ridden before your hysterectomy? I am scheduled to have one September 11th and for some reason I am absolutely terrified that's something bad is going to happen. I've had two previous surgeries from my doctor, he removed a fallopian tube and an ovary the following year this was back in 2012, he is a master surgeon and wrote an amazing book about minimally invasive hysterectomies but for some reason I am just absolutely terrified! Is this normal or is it my intuition? I hope I'm not alone and feeling this way.

I hope my comment helps someone. Good luck to you all.
