Hello there to everyone who has had the surgery. I literally just had my surgery 5 hours ago & I’m doing great. Thank God. I had laparoscopic but they had have a slightly larger belly button incision since my uterus was so big but not a C-section like incision. Soo I was grateful for that. My uterus was HUGE & covered in fibroids but my ovaries were great.

@@cherrylove6133 hi I’m sorry I’m just now seeing your post. Hopefully you’re doing well. I’d been having problems with very painful menses for 10 years. My gynecologist tried me on 5 different birth controls to try to stop my cycles. 50lbs later nothing worked & my menses was so painful it kept me up at night. This was the last option for me. I healed well & my ovaries were good, so I still have them. No issues & I’m 7 months post surgery. Sex has been fine, I have no issues with dryness or desire.

I had a robotic laparocopic hysterectomy a week ago, and am still quite sore, especially at the site of the lower right portal, or if I bend not quite slowly enough. I would suggest getting a toilet riser, a grabber for picking things up, and, I find an electric recliner all very helpful. I am also being cosy under a full length electic throw, it turns off automatically after two hours incase one falls asleep. Also, a small pillow to put on stomach to brace against coughing, and the binder they gave me at the hospital to support the abdomen, is good to wear for a few weeks. I put a pillow under the car seatbelt on the way home. Much better if the driver uses freeways rather than scenic routes, that tend to have more bumps, and bellieve me, going over pot holes is not a welcome surprise. Other than that, I am walking a bit further every day,, and nolonger need a walker. I am not a 'spring chicken' so younger women may find themselves healing more quickly, also my surgery was for endometrial cancer, so everything was removed. Cancer was Stage 1 so just monitoring needed in the future. I did not have the gas people speak of, just didn't happen. And, an icebag at the hospital would have been helpful. I tend to stand rather than sit, because getting up and down is still sore. We put a garbage bag on the car seat to make it easier for me to swivel in and out. Best wishes to everyone going through this, easier than I expected overall, and my Gyn Oncologist Surgeon, is totally perfect for me, I could not have felt safer.. Everyone was very attentive.

44 and having total robotic hysterectomy in one week. Nervous but so excited! I’m obese so worried a little about healing. I had to fight so hard for this, doctors kept saying I was too young and may want to have babies, I never did and I have already bee premenopausal for about 10 years. Everyone I know who has had it says they went through a mourning phase, I haven’t yet.

I had a robotic hysterectomy 3 days ago n it was a huge improvement on the conventional laparotomy I had some years ago. I was walking the next day n pain was significantly lower. My biggest concern though was constipation n this is what I did. From the day before the surgery, I stayed on soft diet, lots of high fibre fruits n Duphalac. My surgeon also prescribed an enema a few hours before surgery; that way, I went into the OT with a clear tummy. Post op, I had minimal carbs n again kept to soft diet, fruits n duphalac. It’s worked so well!

Now the doctor is suggesting a hysterectomy, and he thinks I might be a candidate for robotic surgery. If you don't mind sharing how fast was your recovery? I just want to personally thank you for your videos!
I had an abdominal hysterectomy days ago preserving my ovaries and it was the best decision and experience in my life! I went in with absolutely no anxiety or fear and came out of recovery with a pain level of maybe a 3 or 4!
After recovering from surgery I was up walking after hours.
I was only in the hospital 1 day because my doctor was so impressed by how well I was doing so I went home.
still the pain is perhaps a 2 so I didn’t need the strong narcotics in or out of the hospital.
I prepared myself months in advance for this surgery mentally as well as physically and I believe this is the reason my abdominal hysterectomy went 100% smoothly.
Today is my 3rd day and I feel fabulous I’m at 5 blocks today of walking I still have the surgery gas however my waistline is down by 3 inches due to the removal of two huge fibroids and an enlarged uterus.
Your videos really gave me back my life and gave me the mental support I needed to actually do the surgery.
So many videos I’ve watched but I needed one that would resonate!
    Thank you so much!
I would have waited another year and my fibroids would be the size of a watermelon!

I already contacted my first of two possible physical therapy centers that have someone who works on women as Jessica Valant describes to see if they take my insurance and I already asked my obgyn if she will approve referring me for a couple of post op visits and she said yes, no problem and even gave me another facility to try that is a little closer to my home! My surgery is early May.

I am 38, and 5 days away from my hysterectomy. They are taking my "mommy coconut" (uterus), cervix and fallopian tubies, but hopefully KEEPING my ovaries.... or at least that's the plan. I am, and always have been, spiritually connected to my lady parts (I think of my uterus like a soul super power- a magical cocoon that nourished my babies and gave them life) many call me crazy, but as painful as my periods were, i embraced them, and encouraged my daughters to do so too. After all, if you actually think of what you're body is doing when having a period- its pretty impressive. So as you can imagine, my mourning of these sacred parts is my goal to achieve. I even asked the doctor if I could take my mommy coconut home to plant with a tree (to me, this would have been my "tree of life!") But it's not medically possible due to the preserving process after surgery. To wrap this up- everyone thinks I'm weird for having an enlightened bond with my lady parts, and embracing my period. It gives me solace knowing you feel the same. Your video was inspirational to me, and we all need to be mentally strong and prepared so we can get through this experience confidently, no Worry, no Fear!

I hope your surgery went well. I had a question for you. When you said reconstruction surgery, what did you mean? I'm trying to find out all I can before I find a doctor to do my surgery. My gynecologist told me she was unable to do my surgery the way she thought it could be done. My uterus is the size of a 9 month pregnant woman and I have several fibroids to remove. I'm so scared because I've had so many medical issues due to the size of my uterus and the situation. Thank you for sharing and taking the time to reply. Hope all is well.
