Sorry about the audio in the last clip of the video - damn iPhone.
damn iPhone.
Go Andriod
What was your conclusion that we couldn't hear?
Not sorry enough to spell out what you said for the viewers, I guess.
These guys are just whiners, Jimbo. All you gotta do is turn up the volume a bit for a minute. It’s fine.
Meguiars might be cheap in the US but its considered an expensive premium brand in the UK.
Crazy
Jup the netherlands 2
The da system in america 35 dollar and in netherlands 70 euro
Same in México is kinda premium brand and the thing is that even tough it is cheap in USA this brand cause headache to the premium brands since most of times works better than the expensive productos... Example the Gold clases shampoo is one of the Best in market and fight directly with the very premium shampoos
With the cost import and transport from the States it adds to the price
In Indonesia meguiars was being a highend detailing product
Definitely Meguiars as it's "more bang for my buck" and it's a brand I trust..
Good comparison. I would say that if you compare wheels try to do left and right front, not front and rear because the braking system in front got large pads so you should have more Iron from brake dust. On the other hand, I wish to try next time car pro Iron X vs Sonax Wheel cleaner plus. Thanks
Feras Al-Hindi if you watched the video, he explained why he did that
Feras, I've used both IronX and Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus. I got the same results as Jimbo: Both work, Sonax clings better. Now I use only the Sonax, and I even add water to get a better spraypattern: 75% product, 25%water (3:1). Also works as claylube on a washed car. Saves a step ;)
Indeed. Useless test when you compare a front to a rear wheel.
It depends most car the driver side brake system is under the most pressure that being said the driver side would be the dirtiest of them all 🤷🏾♂️
@@reyalmonte1533 Brake pressure left and right should be the same, otherwise it would be unsafe. I was talking about front and rear. Most of the braking is done with the front.
A way to better test it was to use a clay bar After being chemically decontaminated. Then you can compare which dissolved more iron fallout.
I never knew about using iron removers before clay ! Great thing to know !
I have used the megs and griot's they seem to work the same, also if you wash a dirty car first the iron that's not embedded to the car washes off so the purple effect is less only the heavy stuff is left over is how i see these products working. good vids with the cheap vs expensive
Thanks!
Great video; I have the Meguiar’s in order. Just petrified spraying all over on my Red Tundra!!
There's a difference between pre-washed and pre-rinsed. You should always wash a rim before applying a chemical decontaminant. Otherwise you're wasting chemical on removable contaminants. What the Megs bottle means is that the rim should be dry. Otherwise the chemical dilutes itself. So wash it and dry it before application. They're both trying to say the same thing but both failed in slightly different ways.
I use a pressure rinse first, then an APC, then an acid wheel cleaner (if they're bad), then dry the wheels and use an iron remover, then a tar remover, then a clay bar and finally a panel wipe. Then they're ready for coating.
Based on your video I picked some of this up. I spray lightly on the wheels and use a chip brush to agitate. Very pleased with the product and the results. Thank you
Perfect timing on your vid as I just ran out [Was using Nanoskin Iron Free]. Now I'll try the Meguiars.
Suggestion: You should make a playlist on your channel for Cheap vs Expensive.
Will do. Thanks
I use this product all the time on a professional level and trust me, it really turns purple when it comes in contact with a lot of Iron or rust. After 2 or 3 minutes, agitate with a real soft brush for extremely dirty wheels and after another minute, rinse and see the difference. I have pics on my Facebook page of extremely rusted rims and making them look absolutely amazing with the Meguiar's Wheel Cleaner. My number 1 choice for the price, quantity and quality!
I tried the Meguiars and my wheels look amazing. Thanks for the video Jimbo
Awesome!
I do love the CvsE series. Been using that Meg’s since I saw it on Scott’s videos. Love that stuff. Buy it by the case from Walmart home delivery.
Surprisingly, this worked really well. Without even scrubbing - I'm impressed! I'm going to do it again before winter storage and actually scrub next time.
Great video! Might have been interesting on the hood to rinse and dry the hood... then apply it once again to see if both had COMPLETELY removed the iron.
Good point
I choose to believe I am brilliant :-)
I use this product and its awesome. Cheaper alternative for irom remover. I find it at my walmart for 5 dollars!
I love these comparisons! Super interesting seeing the side by side.
Thanks!
I love these series of videos from you!
Paint Correction Officer thanks man!
I really like All Wheel Cleaner. It foams up very nicely and smells a ton better. Not to mention it’s 4x cheaper.
Agreed!
I always prefer a decent product I can grab off a shelf than a high end product I have to order. If I run out and need more now, I need to be able to just go get more
Yup, nanoskin iron free is another great affordable one
@@RB54DaBears I use IronFree at work. It's really good but smells really nasty. As much as I love how it works, I don't like the smell of rotten eggs everytime I clean my wheels
Krabsy I guess u haven't used iron X. I've used iron X for the last 2 years and it's horrible but at the end of the day it's whats works best for me and my clients. Easy to just mask up anyway. Iron free has a 10x better smell than iron X. As long as it has that active ingredient to break down iron contaminants than it'll always be bad. Glad someone else uses iron free. It's such a great product for the price
I love this series and you just saved me large dollars. Meguiars is quality and always has been. Thanks.
i like that the Meguire's stays on longer [hood], stuff doesnt run off and might be cleaning deaper ! if less expensive does the job in similar time frame..Go for it!! :-)
Facts!
I just used the wheel cleaner and to my surprise it worked very well thanks for the tips
If your iron remover is drying on the paintwork a great tip i got given was to stand at a distance and use the pressure washer to mist the paintwork, this will gently add some moisture back into the product.
Stickymicky25 that’s a great tip. Thank you
A foaming action of Meguiars is an advantage especially on vertical panels giving it a chance to fully react before it runs off which can get really expensive with the Price of Gyeon Iron and Iron X running down on the concrete
gcabaltica interesting. Agree!
You could try a foaming spray nozzle on the bottle with the Gyeon or iron x
True, but I doubt the Nozzle has anything to do with the Meg's foaming or mucous-like consistency. And even if it did, instantly available at Walmart for $8 vs. $25-$35 mail-order? I'm going Megs every time
I think the foam made it look less purple.
You can get the Meguiars for $7.99 at Advanced Auto Parts on sale most times
Never heard of advanced auto lmao.
@@coop4274 It's like AutoZone Maybe you have heard of that.
Greg Wallace lol. I meant there’s no such place called advanced auto lmao.
here in Europe we pay about 20 euro's for the same bottle :( .
I love meguiars products but hate they are so expensive here :(
Hey Jimbo , love your videos . Man , make a video about rims .... All the tricks and shortcuts ... Hate clean the rins ... Your vid about how do you deal with wheels is cool but it will be great more vids with rims (hate detailing rims ! ) .
Awesome videos - keep up the great work!
Great video! Keep em coming
Hi Jim !
Ed Here From São Paulo, SP, Brasil !
Nice & Important Video !
Nothing Like the Real Test.
Very Important All Your Comparative Videos.
No Doubt, VERY HELPFUL !
Thank You Very Much !
Best Regards !
Thank you
Thank you Jimbo, really love your compare serie.
Thanks!
Hey Buddy, what type of high pressure washer is that in the video?
Thanks for the video brother. Would like to see nanoskin iron free vs iron X.
Reasonable test and conclusion. the one thing I would suggest is to use the Gyon after using Meguiars and vice versa to see if either doesn't quite get as much as the other...
Which spray gun handle are you using?
Meguiars for me. Seems to dwell better on the wheel with it being a foam constancy
I’m a little confused. When would you use this on paint? I’ve been trying to clarify that. For something more aggressive than apc? I’m looking for a “decontamination” step to use whether in conjunction with or in lieu of clay. Also what would you recommend for mold/mildew removal on a car that’s been sitting 10 years with summers of caked on pollen
Edit. Nm you kind of answered as the video went on
I buy that stuff at least 4 or 5 bottles at a time when it's on sale at local Walmart. It works great in my opinion
Changing bottles is easy to do too.
How much when on sale?
Voltis_5 its $8 cheap
In EU the price is the same. Both are expensive :D 15€ for 500ml for Gyeon, or 18€ for 750ml for Meguiars.
I Remember gong thru many cleaner brands for my chrome rims and tried meguiars and it was awesome! I been a loyal fan to all their products since!
Hi ,can you recommend which wheel protector to use on powder coated alloys? Also, wheel cleaner?
Great video bro! Keep up the good work
Thanks
I never wash or spray off the wheel before using Gyeon Iron. It holds on better with the dirt on there and has been more effective that way for me.
Thanks Jim for more great info😊. Hope I say your name right Jimbo. Because it's not Geon it's Gyeon haha fun ball busting no disrespect.😂👍😊
Brakes work 70 front and 30 rears. So yes you will always have more iron deposits on front brakes.
Agreed! Jim-bo, lol
I love this channel! U give the best review on products! To hell with the crap u catch! U da man Big Homie!
Another great video and another great comparison Jimbo.after listening 2 ur pod cast its true a lot of people are nasty with their comments....
Thanks!
Great channel, Dallas Paint Protection brought me here! Most every surface should be washed and dried before any product applied, so good on both companies for clear labels stating their respective applications. Personally even with the Meguires I'd still wash and dry, that shouldn't affect the concentration if that's their concern.
Pat B thanks for coming along!
I am fairly certain that at 16:24 Gyeon sent someone from their headquarters in Singapore to mess with Jimbo's audio so we could not hear him say that the Megs worked similarly and that the Megs gives you more for less $. That and I think I saw a black helicopter do a fly-by in the video.
Hahha. Truth!
Yeah, it's not looking good for Gyeon. Super expensive and similar to Megs.
Can this be used on ceramic coating just before applying top up maintainance like P&S beadmaker?
I found the Meguiars about three months ago. Great to use right before you wash the rims. I was wondering if you could use it on paint. Thanks for doing this comparison now have another use for this great product.
James Pritchett your welcome. Glad I could help out
I like the foam vs running down product. I would highly suggest rinsing bottom to top to avoid diluting the product and streaks/stains on the finish. You have mentioned applying it dry, but what are your thoughts about rinsing it down to cool down the paint and to knock dirt off the paint before applying the product?
Overall I like your comparisons, it makes easier for amateurs and professionals to see other products in the market. Thanks again.
I do it before because it clings to the paint better IMO. It’s dry and the only product on vs a wet slick surface
Meguires has really earned my trust at striking the perfect balance between effective and affordable on most products.
I'm not trying to be a smart-ass he should have done one front rim and tire and then the other front rim and tire. with that being said Meguiars products are awesome ! ! and thank you 4 letting us know about Meguiars wheel cleaner. would not have known this would be an iron free product
I understand. The reason I didn’t do that is because the other side was in the sun and I thought it would be unfair. To me both the back and from rims looked equally dirty.
Auto Detailing Podcast I understand that it's just the front brakes work a lot harder and disperse more material than rear disc brakes.
i think that your rims were to clean to do a good comparison, in the meaning that on a quite clean rim also low level product could do a good job, only when dirty s a lots you could see the difference.
So maybe i would suggest as conclusion:if you will use the wheel cleaner regularly, a cheap products could be as good as an expensive one.
But we cannot really say they are the same.
megs ultimate wheel brightner also jimbo.about 7,2,13 bucks depends on the store ...
Beautiful video as always Mr B!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video! One suggestion and this is for everyone, can we just stop calling wheels “rims”? Lol thanks for everyone helping and doing their part to make this world a better place for our kids! ITS ABOUT THE KIDS!
Hydroflouric props to you bud good knowledge!
Excellent series
thanks
I did a comparo of Megs Ultimate wheel cleaner to Griots Heavy Duty and Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus. The Megs is a great value and worked as well as Griots at 1/2 price. The Sonax was a little better performer but not for 2X the price. Hard to beat the Megs for an iron reactive wheel cleaner.
💯
I'd guess the wheels are due to the car not having soft pads. Try it on a Euro and watch it bleed
My favourite Meguiars wheel cleaner is the Wheel Brightener - amazing product
Is the meg all purpose wheel cleaner as a iron remover safe for car paint?
Is the meguires safe to use on paint all over the car as an iron remover ? This product is alot cheaper then iron remover specific products ?
Would it be bad to use it a s an iron decon on paint?
Good stuff
Take this for what it's worth but Meg's doesn't recommend this for use on paint.
"We do not recommend using our Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner or any of our other wheel cleaners for applications other than wheels. We know and understand other products use similar color changing/iron reacting chemistry for applications other than wheels, but Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner is designed just for wheels. Keep in mind with any product which uses this color changing ingredient, that color changing ingredient could be one of many other ingredients in the formulation, and even though the color changing ingredient is widely known for it's effective yet safe cleaning ability, the other ingredients included in the formulation may be geared towards a more specific application like wheels, to help with all sorts of variables in performance, and those ingredients geared towards a more specific application may or may not work well or be safe for certain surfaces."
Before I would use this on my paint I would like to know what the chemical differences are between products designed for wheels and those designed for paint.
Fair enough.
To get it totally clean you Have to scrub with any type you use so honestly i go with more of the cheaper side of things on wheel cleaners.
Good info,,,
Hey great video, I feel like the foaming is a slight advantage because it sticks to vertical panels better. You still have to clay bar, but this really helps a lot! I use Ferrousity from clarity 1 polishes, a local detail shop in temecula. It also has a foaming characteristic.
can I use wheel cleaner for the body paint? is that ok?
Nice man
Thanks for the great video didn't even know Meguiar's made a retail iron remover! By the way your truck looks sweet buddy.
Paul Rhodes thanks - best truck I’ve ever had
Auto Detailing Podcast is it a Toyota TRD?
Paul Rhodes - TRD off road 4x4 but not the TRD Pro
DAMN , THOSE WHEELS LOOK PRETTY CLEAN TO ME..
I can confirm the Meguiar's turns extremely purple when there's a lot of iron. Next time you have a 2018+ STi, try this. I cannot go more than three weeks without washing my wheels, and even after one week, it turns purple like crazy. I usually use Spray Nine or Super Clean for the tires and Meguiar's All Wheel Cleaner fort he job. It's economical and efficient. For those who want only one product, I guess the best I know which is reasonable priced is the Adam's (the purple one) Wheel & Tire Cleaner. It's phenomenal, but still more expensive than the Spray Nine+Meguiar's AWC. Also another trick that make the wheel cleaning way more efficient is to use a very soft conical drill brush. That cuts the working time at least by half.
When u applied it to the hood, did u apply it straight up or did u get the hood first wet and then u applied it?
Straight
Can you use this for water spots
The meguires is great use it on my bmw, spray on, leave for 5 mins and power wash off and the level of clean is astounding considering there’s been no actually scrubbing done.
Have you tried Brake Dust Pro? That’s the only one I have used and it smells terrible but seems to work well.
I haven’t tried it.
Please compare F11 topcoat to any cheaper comparable product manetts mega shine? please... that f11 stuff is pretty expensive and a lot of "enthusiasts" rave about it.... thanks jimbo
What type of high pressure washer is used in the video ? ... washer and rinse ?
Still lovin the comparison videos. Please, please don't go Darren on us and keep the videos from going too long.
Keep them coming and dig the new sunglasses too...Say hi to mom!
I’m just getting started!
would have liked to have seen you spray the Meguiars side with Gyeon and vice versa to see if either pulls more contaminate off that the other spray didn't quite get. Just wondering if the Gyeon does a better job at pulling all that stuff out vs the Meguiars is all.
It’s difficult to do that because usually on the first application it won’t remove everything.
Foam will contain the product therefore lack of "purple" and more dwell on surface. Meg does it again, cant beat it!
I don't know if you can solely base the price of the product off of just the performance. I don't have experience with the Gyeon Iron product, but you need to watch what you use on certain wheel finishes. Perhaps with many standard factory wheel paints and clears, you're fine. But as soon as you get into aftermarket powdercoats, anodizing, and clears, you might want to rethink using anything too acidic.
Definitely agree. These iron removers say they are pH neutral. But it’s usually always good to test it first.
How do you keep your rotors from staining? I stopped using wheel cleaner because they stain my rotors and won’t rinse off. Then it turns to a rusty look
jimbo how about meguiar's ultimate all wheel cleaner vs soft 99 iron terminator.. can you make video for this? looks like soft 99 iron terminator more powerful if compare to gyeon iron. price for soft 99 look like more cheaper than meguiar's..
So that meguiars all wheel cleaner is also safe on matte black wheels??? I now its an all wheel cleaner but sometimes you just never now with matte black wheels being so sensitive
I've used Meguiar's Ultimate Wheel Cleaner, and I have to say that I was impressed by it. I've also used Chemical Guy's Iron Decon spray, and I was extremely disappointed. I'm going to give P&S Brake Buster a try too, but so far, Meguiar's has a heck of a good iron remover.
I just pickup the chemical guys over the meguiars and was extremely disappointed. It didn't do anything. Gonna go back I guess
Is this a good step to take before claying? And would you do this before a wash or after? If that makes sense
Yes. Pre clay
@@autodetailingpodcast thanks!
Try bilt hamber auto wheels and you'll be blown away. Also their similar ironfallout for paint. Valetpro dragons breath is an other one with very high percentage of the chemicals that dissolves the fallout.
Also its recommended to wash the car or wheels AND dry it then apply a falloutremover. Otherwise all the other dirt and contamination will weaken the effect and absorb the product.
I watched this because I thought it was "rust" remover! My bad. Enjoy your cheap vs expensive videos. I recently bought a water cannon for my Chevy van. I am a 75 year old great grandma but I like to detail my truck as long as I can.🤑
Keep up the good work! That’s awesome!
can you use this mcguire's wheel cleaner 'iron remover' on the whole car, as a chemical decontamination, pre clay bar and paint correction?? thanks in advance !!
Yes
It isn’t really cheap Megs Ultimate Wheel Cleaner, costs around €20 in Europe. While SONX Wheel Cleaner Full Effect coat €7,50, although I don’t find SONAX very good. Is Meguiar’s better?
Half the Gyeon was on the ground within 10 seconds. Give me the foam every time
Thanks for the video Jimbo. I will check out that Megs product!
*I like gyeon iron but p-ray from labocosmetica is equal as good but doesn't smell as bad....*
I’ve tried Meguires, Adams wheel cleaner and Adams eco wheel cleaner. Like Meguires the best and I don’t have to order it or go out of my way to find it.
Timothy Wolleck 100% agree.
What pressure washer wand are these stubby ones
Looks like these products do the same thing as the BMW “wheel gel” which turns “purple” . Do you think it’s the same thing ? If so, and they won’t etch the wheels, I may give them a try.
Thank you. 😎🇩🇪🚙
I haven’t tried that. But if it turns purple it’s an iron remover so basically the same thing.
UP HERE IN WISCONSIN? WE HAVE ALOT OF IRON IN OUR WATER.. SO RIGHT FROM THE TAP..BUT OUR HOMES USE A DEIRONIZER TANK, HOOKED UP TO OUR WATER SOFTNERS AND BINGO! IRON IS GONE... CAN ADD SOME IRON OUT CRYSTALS TO A PINT OF QATER AND USE THAT FOR A SPRAY..
I love meguiars I almost use all of there products, but wouldn’t mind trying that gyon stuff..I’m all about whatever works
