    talking with the local Megs rep to me, Iron Decon from them D1801, it likes to be incredibly ionized and finely sprayed. in a ZEP spray bottle it mists it out nicely and it covers well. instant sulfur reaction on wheels/tires/paint.

    I just looked at the safety datasheets of both products and the numbers for the active ingredient is similar. For Ultimate AWC 1-10% and for Iron-removing spray clay it's 5-10%. My guess is they use very similar formulation in both.
    That being said, the absolute content of active ingredient is low compared to other iron removers (Sonax, IronX etc), which state >25%.

    • @mrhonda1
      @mrhonda1 4 года назад +1

      I don't really think the intent of the product is a lube. I think it's just called "spray clay" as in a spray alternative to clay for removing fallout.

    • @wellwh0
      @wellwh0 4 года назад

      @@mrhonda1 No it is also clay lube, it supposed to do two steps in one. But you can also use it only as iron remover. Though it is pointless Megs has Iron Decon for that but only comes in gallon and it is also pricey, though not as pricey as Iron Removing Spray Clay.

    • @mrhonda1
      @mrhonda1 4 года назад

      @@wellwh0 right, you can use it as a clay lube, just like any iron remover. I just don't think any if them, including this one, was designed specifically to be a clay lube. If you notice "clay" is in parenthesis on the bottle indicating that the spray is the clay. I just think that Meguiar's over complicated the name on this one and should have just left it as iron remover.

    • @wellwh0
      @wellwh0 4 года назад

      @@mrhonda1 Don't know if other iron removers are slick enough!?
      I don't like to risk, as clay lube I use Megs Last Touch 50:50 diluted. For Iron decontamination I use CarPro Iron X. Find it as most efficient for me.
      EDIT: oh. okay it isn't even clay lube it supposed to replace clay lube (looked on their website)
      Though they have now some stuff based on SiO2 that is detailer and clay lube so it confused me. They made pure mess with their offerings.

    • @mrhonda1
      @mrhonda1 4 года назад +1

      @@wellwh0 I've seen it done with others, even the Eagle One Black and Plasti Coat wheel cleaner. And I don't know if this Meguiar's is technically any more slick since it's not technically a clay lube. Meguiar's doesn't say it's a clay lube so I have no idea where people are getting that from other than being confused by the name. According to their site it "Works like a chemical clay dissolving embedded iron contamination & industrial fallout" which is why the put the word clay in parenthesis on the bottle. As for claying, I use a clay mitt or clay towel with a gallon of water and 2 ounces of Meguiar's Super Soap that they used to sell at Walmart. The combination is amazing.

    Everyone likes to judge and compare iron removers by how they “bleed” or turn purple. I’d like to see a head to head comparison of real world use, like single stage white paint with rail dust (those little rust blooms) or a wheel that turned ‘gold’ from a malfunctioning brake. Ignore the color of the cleaner and see what the actual result on the paintwork is.. how does it really Decon.

    So I like you have been using the Meguiar's Ult wheel cleaner for a while now. And when MEG's finily put the Iron remover spray "clay" out, of course I had to try it. And here is my two cents.
    The D2002 to me reacted quicker than the WC. Also a big difference between the two is the smell. The D2002 doesn't smell like some little ole lady is getting her hair frosted. Whereas the WC does. Also, I don't use the factory bottle with the WC. And when transferring the WC to another bottle it have a VERY strong sulfur odor.
    So my pick is with the new D2002

  • @razetw
    @razetw 4 года назад

    I get the neato factor that you could use the wc as a lube if you're out of lube or detail spray... But the price is wayy high. When you can dilute onr, ultima waterless wash+, technicians choice, and a million others for a clay lube for pennies, it doesn't make sense to me. Saving a step, therefore time, and money? Nah that's a tough sell. Again the high price would entice the user to use LESS product. When I can get a hundred 24oz bottles of clay lube out of a 15$ of waterless wash concentrate...i spray the crap out of the lube when claying and don't skip a beat.
    Not the best comprehensive video review but hey, I give jimbo props for the content during the lock downs.

    Ultimate Wheel = 8$ = 24 OZ
    Iron Spray Clay = 20$ = 32 OZ
    You can basically get 60 OZ of Ultimate Wheel Cleaner for 20$ price!

    As someone who works with chemicals in a hospital lab, I'm a bit taken aback by the "review". While the reaction to iron particulates may be similar or downright the same, they most likely utilize the same ferrous metal removers as their other products so that would be. The part I was disappointed in was the fact you did not do a physical comparison of lubricity by touch or by clay bar. I would assume their "Iron Removing Spray Clay" would have some type of surfactants or chemical lubricants. You even pointed out how it appeared slightly runnier.
    Could you comment on any other observations or did you not even thoroughly test it, just throw up a video for early clicks?

      @@autodetailingpodcast I'm not implying you don't know what you are doing, and getting "early clicks" prior to a full length video is becoming normal from what I've noticed. You have some great in depth videos. I was just a bit taken aback that you didn't even mention the actual feel of the product considering the primary function of it is lubrication (+Iron removing as a nice added function). I would have thought that would be one of the first things you mentioned in this quick "pre-video" prior to the full release.

    Did you really make a video just to see color change? Not a professional but I would think it’s dilute Compare to the wheel cleaner and avoid abrasives since it claims you can use clay bar. I feel like you loss the reason on most of these products just as this one you didn’t clay it or see if it did leave any scratches. Take proper steps

    hope u are well jimbo…..the only difference I see.... since the clay side is "runnier" is appears to have more lubricity than the ultimate wheel cleaner. maybe a follow up/test to ck. the idea of claying at the same time makes no sense. its like lets rub in the dissolving fallout as we clay and create more extensive polishing to remove the marring and scratches. NO THANK YOU.
    be well - be safe - don't take this flu lightly please. best to u and your family/loved ones
