Great, great review Jimbo, I see that you are helping educate Detailers and everybody who likes maintaining their own vehicle. Your comparisons are very professional, you definitely cover every key points within product performance.
Thanks!
Love the way that you did the comparison.
Jimbo, I saw a useful tip on using a Iron Remover, this channel recommended spraying it on a lightly dusty panel & letting it dwell, claiming better product action , then rinsing off with water & then washing.
The spray nozzle on the Griot’s bottle was set on stream. This uses more product than spray/mist setting.
Love your cheap vs expensive videos. Would like to see one using towels.
Check this one - ruclips.net/video/sMLfkLmdRyw/видео.html
Great idea to apply on opposite side!
Great demonstration. I agree with your logic, Adam's provides the same results for half the price. It's a no brainer.
Adam's wheel or iron remover are the best smelling chemicals you'd prefer to not smell. They're both still 100x better than most other iron removers. It's also far cheaper than most of the competition. Meguiar's DUB wheel cleaner also smelled good (relative) Was labeled Pine Caliente on the bottle. When you smelled it, it smelled like Pineapple but then the backend of the chemical smell would hit after and it would sorta burn your nose lol.
haha, ya these can be horrible to get a whiff of.
I would like to see how many times you had to reapply before there was no more pulled out
Would be a good test. I would assume 3 or so
I’ve always gone ahead and agitated w/ a wrung out and remover primed washmit at the end of the dwell period. 👌
Fair to say griots maybe be better for wheels because the foam will keep it on, Adams for flat surfaces?
Love these comparison videos , did you happen to do a tar removal one? I can’t find any if you did thanks
I have been looking for a solution to the rust spots that I thought were unique to Dodge/Mercedes Sprinters. Dealers just scoffed it off as rail-dust, but no suggestion how to maintain.... vehicle is now 10 years old, and the spots persist..... and even have a few that developed into blisters between the primer and finish paint. THICK GEL seems to be an advantage, if using on vertical panels, not just roof hood and trunk... so it does not all run off before reacting. I wonder if these products are paint-safe. My vehicle has no clear coat. It is as I am told a single stage powder coat with the clear coat "built-in".
Yes I do love this series.
Do a comparison with the meguiars and iron x since that's the benchmark
Hey Jimbo, I've got similar results with the Adams Iron Remover. Just picked up a gallon of the Adams after trying the 16oz. I felt that I used less product compared to other Iron decons. The smell was really mild and didnt leave a harsh residual scent. You pointed out that it may be the same thing as the wheel cleaner. Would be interesting to see a video comparing the two or even just see how well Iron Remover works on wheels. I'll definitely be experimenting with it.
Yep a tie, both quality products. Like others, Griots Garage is Gree-Ohs, not Oats. Today Adams price is 14.99 or 94-cents per ounce compared to GG 22.99 for 22-ounce or 29.99 for the 35-oz so starting at $1 or less per ounce. I was shown a trick with new GG Boss foam cannon in July. Attach their bottle to pressure washer and spray away. I have photos! Works great. Keep up the series!
I have been using the Griots for 2 years and I prefer it over Iron X. I have used the Meguiars wheel cleaner and it takes it too long to react for me. I like the Griots because it is a thick consistency and sticks to the panels well and doesn't dries out as quick. Thanks for putting this together. I paid $58 for the last gallon I bought from Detailed Image and it lasts 2 weeks for me on average.
Do a test with chem guys iron decon
What's the very FIRST thing they teach you in chemistry class?
"NEVER NEVER NEVER SNIFF OR SMELL A CHEMICAL!"
I remember that… way back when. A few years ago, I sniffed a bottle of what turned out to be industrial strength ammonia. I almost passed out, and I think I got sinus and brain damage.
Great video bro! Thanks for the info.
This was informative
Good video. I have only used iron x. The smell of iron x.....It’s as though the stench of the town dump was bottled. It has also dried on Me a few times. It leaves a white residue. It works well, I simply want to try another product. As usual, nice job!
@ Jay Dobbins , I used Iron X for the fist time yesterday, gutted it’s left white residue on my new black alloys , any ideas how to remove I’ve tried wheel cleaner with no results
i like the Sonax Fallout Cleaner
not a fan at all of Riccardo Iron Maiden ( really really really bad smell)
I am interested in trying Auto Glym's Magma iron remover
I like to spray on Meguiars Ultimate wheel cleaner while the car is dirty and let it dwell for a couple of minutes, then snow foam the car and wash it down with multiple mitts and then use a clay bar or mitt. I like using both the chemical and mechanical decontamination processes for smooth paint.
That’s a great process. I do it all the time.
Should do a review on nanoskin iron remover
That was completely unexpected! Thank you so much!
nice comparison jimbo.
Jimbo, thanks for another great video!! Much appreciated!! Are these iron out products really necessary? You referenced using a lot of product, but Meguiar’s has a new product they sell by the gallon only (d1801). Is this too much for a two car family? I appreciate your channel and tests!
Ron Hall no there not really necessary, but they can be useful. Meguiars new product called Decon is great. You should definitely try it
Good video bro thanks for the good info 👌🏼 Adam it is save money 🙏🏼
Thanks man!
Thanks for the video. After I saw you rince, it said that you clearly didn't read/apply the Griot instructions very well. After 3 minutes you should agitate the product.
I love love love Griots Garage products!
I always purchase all their products by the gallon. They are the best of the best in car care products 😍😍❤️😍😍
i watched that professor of detail guy, he uses iron remover in a clay towel and cleans and removes iron at the same time, have you tried that, curious as to how well that works
What about malco iron and malco epic cr2? Thanks
I am glad you made this video, 1 time is not enough and more is better
Great video! Just found your channel. Question: how often should you decontaminate a car with either of those products? Thanks!
I would say as needed. A lot of people do it way to often
If you clay it regularly, I would argue that you wouldn't have to decon. very often. It's a must for neglected/abused paints though.
I'm in Canada and it's winter right now. It gets really dirty out here, can I just rinse the dirt off my car at the carwash then spray Adams while wet to dissolve the iron then rinse again?
Dude Adams iron remover smell like straight up chemical with a hint of sweetness lol
How does it compare to Iron X? Small bottle is like $40 something and a bigger is $59.99 canadian
Nanoskin Iron Free is also a great product for performing this process as well as on wheels
I like how it foams but it doesn’t turn very purple
If you clay in between the applications of iron remover/wheel cleaner you will find out the true test of the product. Due to the fact most have a color changing effect and loosen the contaminated particles, you will find most will still show unless they are clay'd
I don't know... I think you get better coverage and use less product with the Adam's vs the Griot's foam.
Griots spray snozzles are very good
Greeee-Ohhhs -The TEEE is silent
@JGD Cause English man. English. I saw a silly meme the other day that was something like baked is pronounced baked but naked isn't pronounced naked. Lol
I K-now
Shhh. People who correct others speech or how they type is a mental illness. You intact need help. Shuu now shuu
Iron remover strips wax or Bead maker and stuff? Thanks for this video
they can take away from the hydrophobic properties of them
@@autodetailingpodcast Thank You!
Does the car have to be dry or wet when when u spray an iron remover onto the paint?
Works better dry
@@autodetailingpodcast I have very small copper colored dots on my white car....what are these? Mostly on the rear of the car. Brown/Copper colored.
@@reptileguy8458 it's the ferrous metals or iron that needs removed. Clay bar or using an iron remover will do the trick!
for me the GG iron and fallout remover is the same exact thing as their heavy duty wheel cleaner....
Prob is
Where did you get those prices from ? Adams is $16 and griots is almost $30 both on amazon
The “T” is silent.
Cheap vs Cheap compared to the competition. Thanks for doing this! - Cheers
When I do a chemical decon does that remove the sealant in my car? Please help
Depends on the sealant. It prob won’t remove it completely but it does weaken it.
Thanks for ur prompt response. Love ur vids. Keep up the good work
Thanks!
Foam good. Bubbles good. Not always.
Watch your video objectively, you gave the Griots the advantage both times and I think the Adams looked better both times personally with no horse in the show. More Griots. On the second one, you applied Griots first, I think both times actually.
Why not spray a third time (and more if necessary) to see how many treatments it takes for each product to be sprayed until no purple (all iron gone) is seen?
GreeOats! I’m rolling around with laughter, the T is silent Brother!
Hey silly, the chemist infuses the scent. They can be totally different products and have a similar scent.
Adams FTW for me. With a discount code I get a gallon for $39.99 which is the best damn price out there. A gallon of Iron X for me (with wholesale pricing) is still $90ish
I don’t think it gets cheaper then that
If you are paying $90-ish per gallon of IronX, then you do NOT have a Wholesale Account. I have a Pro Account with CAR-PRO and a gallon costs a decent amount less than “$90-ish”. The Adam's with a Pro account is $39.99 for a gallon normally priced.
Lehigh Valley Detailing Decent amount less? So still $70 or just about double what I pay now? Lol
I'm new to this. Does claying your car pick up the iron particles?
Yes
@@autodetailingpodcast So can I get by just claying without using fallout removal?
AllAmericanGuy01 yes for sure
@@autodetailingpodcast Thank you so much! You saved me an extra step, time and money.
AllAmericanGuy01 You’d actually save more time by applying iron remover lol. Once you’re done using the spray you won’t have as much stuff to pick up with the clay.
I guess if you used a IK foaming sprayer 12 it would be a lot easier, then you using a spray bottle.
Is it OK to agitate the remover?
Yes
Another great side by side.question: have you ever had a issue with staining from adams iron on black plastic trim? I aplied to the paint and rinsed within 5 minutes and found some white spots in a few areas on my rams black fender trims.
I haven’t. But I’ve heard some people do
Griot's own product instruction video comments/answers show that their iron removers is safe to all surface including plastic, but we need to avoid drying it. I just purchased GG iron remover (have not tried it yet), because I do not want to damage lights and other plastic parts.
Although it says safe, certainly this is one of the items that one needs to be more careful to deal with.
It may be an interesting comparison which iron remover is the "safest" for novice users like me. As I do not do this process often (having only one car), I may make mistakes. If you can do simulation of possible mistakes, for example applying iron remover on plastic (black / clear) and let it dry purposely, that would be interesting. GG may make white spots, too, who knows (I hope not)! GG video also says it is highly concentrated liquid, so it is strong chemical. Thank you so much for your making fun and interesting videos!
Off-topic I know but it is kind of nice to hear all those kids playing and having fun after being locked down in the Covid pandemic.
The Griot would be definitely better on vertical panels. Also you can use a foam pump and it would be way easier to apply.
Fun factor: 10
Quality science factor: 2
I thought Griots and Adams make their own products and don't use blenders. Hey if you haven't done this before maybe you explain to us in a future video which manufacturers use blenders. That would be interesting. Thanks for this comparison video. I've been researching Griots products recently. I'm one of those weekend warriors that prefer to get all my products from one source.
Adams does make their own now. In fact Adam’s is making chemicals for about a dozen different companies out there, but thats hush hush. There are only a few places in the US that supply the actual chemicals though.
Can confirm that Adams makes their own. I recently toured their HQ when an off-road group I’m in had a meet up there.
I bet those are not kids but in fact they are young women screaming to take pictures with Jimbo… fans for ever! ;)
Calendyr for sure!
Do the Math.. they are almost identical with regards to pricing. $16.99/16oz against $22.99/22oz
Based on Amazon, seems like Griots is cheaper than Adam's
Never say sorry about the kids. They are the best part of our life’s
If you're using both products on both sides, wouldn't it always be a tie?
No, he was measuring how much the second pass picked up. If one picked up a lot more on the second pass, you could tell that it is a better product.
Meguiars is coming out with gallon in 2019 for 38.00. they some really cool products coming out.
I think it's going to cost $80
Ya it’s at the $80 range. Just did a podcast recording about it today
I wish it was $38
you didnt even feel them to tell us the difference.
Lol Dude sounds like A) A straight up Kids Anti Parent Rally and B) You said F this I’m gunna go do a Product review video. Lol Nice 🤙🏽
Honest question.. If it's basically a tie, why would anyone pay almost twice for the Griot's? Unless you're just brand loyal and don't care how much it costs..
That’s my thought exactly
If you clay bar the entire car is it necessary to use iron removal?
Sometimes. It’s worth a try
Iron remover first then clay after
If you clay the car, and don't get a pristine surface after claying, then you should have used iron remover first lol. I just learned the hard way on some neglected paint that I thought only needed clay bar, but actually needs iron remover because I couldn't remove all the contaminants with the clay.
Blackfire Iron Remover vs Iron X please.
Adam's Iron Remover does not work. Have a 2022 Civic (Black) and a 2023 Camry (Red) washed both cars separately for at least 1 hour between washes, and let them air dry for a few minutes. Sprayed Adam's Iron Remover on the Camry and let stand for 7 minutes so as not to let the car dry completely, there were no Purple marks. Did the same to the Civic and again no Purple marks. Rinsed off the worthless Adam's Iron Remover, dried both cars and waxed them. Waste of money as purchased 1 gallon of Adam's for $55.
Can I used wheel cleaner instead of the iron remover 🤔
If you want to destroy your clear coat, Yes.
Is it me or in every product test does he use so much product? Like he SATURATED the roof 😂
ryanpaul it’s just you
I believe Adams is the better
Good gravy...Adams smells like someone cracked the top on a can of sewer runoff and wafted it under my nose and was like..."Mmmm...bro...check this out. It'll blow your mind!" It makes me see grinning yellow teeth as I stroke out from the runoff. I'd hate to think that Griot's somehow magically smells less awesome. Also...Gree-ohs....the T is silent. Shoot, I just saw this was 4 years old. You likely have someone in your life who loves you enough to have corrected you by now. NVM, happy detailing!
I would go with the Adams purely on how bad and wasteful the Griots sprayer is. Looks like it's streaming more than spraying. The foaming action won't help either as the air introduces into the foam mix will weaken the products chemical reaction.
Wheels, man.
Adams
Is this even safe on a car with Glass Coat already.?
Ya
Great.! Thanks Sir
Sounds like they both sides need clayed
A better way might be both on vertical panels. We all would assume the Adams would fall short but then again
Nanoskin please $11 for 16oz in Hawaii vs whatever
Most of Griots products are way over priced and overrated minus a couple of there products. But I bought there e foamer recently for $135 and it doesn't create foam it just sprays suds, I bought a 35 dollar e foamer from amazon and it sprays shaving cream. I was very underwhelmed. Griots should be charged with a crime for some of there products
I like kids and understand them being kids is most important. However, one could learn from this and simply do a new voice over while muting the actually audio. Jussayin. Thanks for the comparison
GREE-OSS.....😋
By the way, GREE-OSS makes all their own chemicals, a little research shows they have a plant in Washington state, it's an old Coca-Cola plant, no blenders for this quality company.
Being in the business for 10 yrs I'd think you'd known this about them.
Ummm. That’s not totally true. I know companies that supply them.
Klasse Act Actually Griot’s bottling and manufacturing plant is about 20 minutes from me in Plainfield Indiana in an old Coca Cola plant. Their Headquarters and flagship store is in Tacoma Washington. My uncle runs the bottling and manufacturing plant and I have been there many times. They do make all their own liquid products and have an in house chemist. They create and test all of their products from there also. They also ship all their products from Plainfield Indiana. There is a video on RUclips where they show you the whole facility.
Stay KLASS-EE, Klasse.
The griots is safe for plastic
why not just agitate a little instead of using too much product... just a thought. I think it would have removed all the fallout. JMO
That’s a good idea. This was just for a test
Man the fact that you have 10k subscribers and do great comparison I don’t understand.
Growing fast tho!
Do colinite 845 vs Meg's UFF
Griots pronounced greeooohs
T is silent
Yes, silent 'T' dude!
The foaming is blocking your View of the product working
Why do you switch after the wash. Shouldn't you do the same one on the same side, each time?
Gree-O
It's pronounced gree-O.
That's all.
Adam's looked like it pulled up more of what Griot's left behind.
Maybe. Super close call
