    You are very right - before touching the paint try to remove as much grime and debris as possible (everything is possibly scratch-inflicting). That's why I do a second step after Iron-X: Traffic film remover to soften up everything that is non-metallic but adheres to the paint and eats into it over time. THEN it's time to clay - fast and relatively safe.

  • @carlosb1

    I use both both on my cars. Yes you MUST use both to get the best results.However, I only do it once a year because it is a painstaking job. You are bound to get fallout again very soon since a lot of those particles are tiny molten hot steel. That penetrates into any wax. Unless You have ceramic coating or some other GOOD physical barrier like clear bra on your paint I would not recommend doing this often as you will deteriorate your clear coat, waste time only to find out that in a week those particles are back specially if you drive your car a lot. Also depends on your car. The back end of my SUV gets those a lot while the back end of my truck does not get them as much. Since those particles also come from you brakes it will depends on the design of your car as to how much time you want to spend on this.

    What brand clay bar can you use WITH an iron remover to combine both steps? i.e. use an iron decon spray as the lube for the clay bar? When I do it, it eats away the clay bar by the time you're half done.

    • @ManinderSingh-bp2yl
      @ManinderSingh-bp2yl 4 года назад +3

      why would you want to do that? isnt the ceramic coating like the final stage of protecting the clear coat? and prior to ceramic coating a car, it should be decontaminated, paint corrected, and polished off like a mirror finish then the ceramic coating can be done. If you use iron remover on a ceramic coated car what you will end up is stripping down the ceramic coated panel and potentially ruin the life of your ceramic coating.

    • @trailerparkfadez5539

      The rubbing or scratches from using a dry clay bar, or applying too much pressure, or you haven't flipped the bar. You need lubrication

      So the process is wash the car...then use iron remover.. claybar...then do a paint correction if its needed(swirl marks, scratches, oxidation) then apply a wax, ceramic coat, or PPF...whatever you want. Or a ceramic spray wax
