This has by far been the best RUclips video I’ve watched in a long long time. No bs, straight to the point, scientific and just plain simple! Thank you for your help in letting me decide what to buy. I think I’m convinced Adam’s is the way to go.
Using a test tire with raised white lettering would have shown the differences between the products better than an all black tire. This is due to two reasons: 1)The white letters show dirt more than black, and 2)The rough texture of the white letters (due to the tire manufacturing process) makes them harder to clean than the smooth surfaces. For anyone who wants their tires to look really good: I apply tire cleaner all the on all 4 wheels then a second coat followed by a tire brush. After that, I use a power washer on the tires and they look how I want them to. Thanks for your great work.
Great testing! Years ago I used Napa's aluminum wheel cleaner on my car. It did an excellent job of removing brake dust and cleaning the rims without damaging the clear coat. It was an acidic solution though.
Agree 100%. It's blazing hot here today and stopped to get an iced coffee and drink it inside an air-conditioned space. Popped open RUclips, and there was a Project Farm video. It made my morning.
I have my favorite tire cleaner, available at wal mart in the household cleaning isle. Only for tires, its called "Spray Power" made by "Crown". When sprayed on tires, it pulls the grime from the tires with no scrubbing, rinse, apply your favorite tire shine, and a clean tire makes the tire shine look so much better Edit: around 4.50-5.00 per gallon.
Smart Doorbells would be a good one. When the buttons pressed how quick the phone notifys you on and off local wifi, subscription required or not, motion detection(again how quick to notify you), battery life, if the clips start recording in time(sometimes the person is already leaving), price, if it comes with a normal ringer, and lots more easy ones. Similar with smart battery CCTV. Pressure washers too maybe? Solar panels(watts per $, output compared to the advertised wattage, sqft per watt).
Most importantly. PRIVACY. How well does it protect your data. Does it harvest it? How secure is it from attack? These are aspects that are very important, that people do not think about (but REALLY should) that im not sure hes up to testing as it dives somewhat deep into IT/Security/Networking knowledge). So id kinda rather he didnt test these out unless he did cover the security/privacy aspect of it. (Ring is well known for having extremely poor security)
Man oh man....that was great. I often get caught up trying to decide what product to buy and your channel makes it easy by removing the guesswork. Thanks a bunch for the time and effort you put into your test/videos....Job always well done.
I am a car detailer when tax busy season is over since Im not as busy and it gets nice outside. I tried all these products before on my personal and some clients. I love the Meguiar product the most for tire and wheel. you just need a tire brush, wheel barrel brush, and microfiber for the rim. Armorall is probably my worst experience. But I also have products specific for different types of wheels as some are made with different materials and coating.
I owned a Supra that needed carpet and headliner repairs. The first thing the guy asked me was if I used ArmorAll products on it, and wouldn't touch it if I did. The residue messes with the adhesion and color matching. He told me to avoid all ArmorAll products, they just add a shine and don't really clean.
@@whatdafrog Basically, they only make it look clean but doesnt actually clean. I believe they are only popular due to the fact they are in major retail stores such as walmart and target.
@@Extra_Depresso They've been around forever. When I was young, it was one of only a couple brands of detailing products you could buy. Today there are so many choices. No reason to use that crap. They do make terrible products.
Its like you are a mind reader. I'm about to do a full detail on my wife's 4runner and was looking in to buying a good wheel cleaner as that area is always a struggle. Thanks for the info!
You literally answered a question I had just a day ago about safety of my Adams product on my wheels. I can rest easy - just make sure the product is completely gone. Thanks Project Farm!
Depending on the rim, I've found wiping the rims down with a dry rag is the best and fastest way to clean them. I've found cleaners, ANY cleaner, to make the dirt (mostly brake dust) gooey and smears all over the rims and makes more of a mess than you had before you started... otherwise, just a brush and some carwash soap in a bucket of water will do it. The brush also cleans the tires, no acids, no goo, no burned drip spots. Thanks for another great video!
I have been using Adamns for a decade now. I love it!! I was washing my car and my neighbors had people over, a guy came up to me to ask me what product I was using because of how much nasty thing it was removing and how clean the wheels and tires looked
I just came in from washing our cars, took a shower, sat down to enjoy a cold beer, and this video posted. The timing couldn't be more impeccable. Kind of suspicious actually.
Ditto! I purchased a different brand of wheel/tire cleaner 2 days ago, and was just thinking to myself: "It would be nice if Project Farm did a review".
Great test! I happen to have quite a bit of Adam's and Meguiar's so glad to know I made the right choice. I like Mothers products as well. Thank you for all that you do!
My wife needed some protectant for the vinyl on some patio chairs. She bought the monster size Armor All. I asked why and she said we could use it on the cars. I said absolutely not.
Hybrid solutions works *extremely well* on brake dust and tire blooming that normal road tires get in the real world. This was sort of a flawed test that was basically "What removes caked on mud from tractor tires" and isn't representative of most normal daily driver cars. TW Hybris solutions is extremely well regarded.
I bought the Adams cleaner because of this video to clean the chain lube off my wheels and tires. Nothing I had tried previously was able to take it off. Good new is it took the chain lube, brake dust, and baked on dirt, right off. Bad News is it also took the clear coat off my wheels lol. Be careful when using it. It is very strong.
Back in my pipefitting days, I used to fit high pressure separator units (1440 P.S.I. MAWP and up). A lot of projects were spec'd in with Bonney Forge brand fittings. Mainly because they had/have proven quality control (ISO 9001 and API certified) and all fittings had full traceability (no fake mill test reports). Even they would often leak without a thread sealant. A thread sealant is a must if the connection doesn't use a polymer seal such as an O-ring boss (ORB) or a gasket of some sort. Even hammer unions that are machined to each other would leak without a rubber O-ring. The biggest concern with offshore fittings is the material it's self. That being what the fittings are claimed to be made of and whether they will stand up to the alleged ratings that a properly made fitting would be capable of.
@@A.C._Taylor Good point about thread sealant--that could be yet another video idea. I've found best to worst for NPT up to 2" are loctite 567, blue monster tape, and last are the ubiquitous cheap white teflon tape and blue pipe dope. But my experience was a lot of jerry-rigging low pressure applications, trying out junk that leaked at 0 psi no matter what.
Would be hard to test. The main problem is going to be thread damage or incorrect threading, which is more a QA/QC issue rather than a brand issue. Unless you want him to buy random lots of 100
Good Ole Castrol Superclean is my wheel / tire cleaner of choice. No scrubbing, just spray and use a pressure washer but don't leave the product on the wheels. Another great video. Thanks
One additional test i would have liked to have seen.... add all cleaners to sections of tires on a car, then drive down a gravel road 24 hours later. Most of these products look great when you put them on, but if you drive down a gravel road, the tires look way worse than before you add the tire cleaner.
Could you test shop fans? I can’t seem to find a good one for a reasonable price that won’t give out after running for a year. I like to keep my fans running in my shop 24/7 to keep the air circulating.
24/7 that's quite the feat. You might have to build your own fan to have one at a decent price, I don't think I've seen a newer model motor with zerk fittings or oil ports. Maybe a blower would be more appropriate.
My family drives BMWs and we are quite familiar with that brake dust! I found that most wheel cleaners from reputable brands like Sonax and Adam's work well, but what really makes a difference is using a touchless sealant (like Gyeon Wet Coat) on the wheels after cleaning, this keeps them clean longer.
Thanks for the awesome testing!! I also am quite impressed with Sonax. It has a distinctive odor, however it plain works over the brake dust. My personal favorite.
What Sonax cleaner are u guys talking about? The one with an angry monkey on it? I thought TW hybrid solutions was great, it removed all the browning on my tires, 2-3 passes though.
There is about 3K videos out there on oil filters, you can find something by searching. We need another oil filter video about like we need another photo of the moon.
Just started the video and have used 80% of these products. Guarantee by the time I reach the end, my new choice of cleaner will be the from the results of Project Farm's test. There is no one more thorough and accurate with real-world testing.
I've done my share of cleaning it, what are you trying to do with it? It is porous, very tricky. I've had good luck with a power washer at a distance. Is it stained?
As I do nearly always I let the commercials play. I use Mother's for most things. The wheel and tire cleaner I own isn't a foaming one so it must be an older formula. But the clear coat on the metal make me seriously rethink which I'll use for my wheels and tires in the future. Thanks for performing this test!
@@janix_17 Right, sure you do. You truly don't know the results until you see them yet you commented as if you did. I guess you can't admit that or see the Hi Renee in your comment?
@@JSFGuy lmao bro you're pathetic 😂 yes obviously i haven't seen the end in under a minute, you happy now? It's a joke, but surely you don't understand what those are.
Great video! My go to is Turtle Wax Wheel and Tire Cleaner, it's a foaming wheel and tire cleaner. I use it on every vehicle I've owned for over the last decade now and it works tremendously! Too bad it wasn't in this video. You can get it at any Walmart, and is in a bright green bottle.
Doing it the cheap way: dishwasher detergent and dishwasher shine. All clean all shiny. ...even better: buy a second hand dishwasher from Marketplace or similar and use it to rinse the entire wheels! The machine can be stored in your garage.
I've been using the armor all rim/tire cleaner for years now and I love it. Seeing the blue foam turn white mixed with the grime and brake dust is satisfying. Hit it with a brush and rinse and they are dirt free. Plus it's easier to apply vs squeezing the trigger.
One of the only people I trust. So many detailer YTers, one week they are promoting one product as the best ever and a month later, something else. Pretty obvious why the opinions change so often.
Hello again Project Farm my friend. Your videos are number one. I made a discovery about cleaning wheels, because I ran out of my favorite cleaner, ( Mean Green.) I used DAWN PRE WASH DISH SOAP and saw a miracle. That stuff cleans rubber and rims better than anything I have found yet. You made another great video!
Great video. With the potential for the better cleaners to corrode or discoloration to alloy if not completely removed, this video is as good of a reminder as any to carefully remove all of the cleaner. Despite the amount of additional work, I've had good luck in the past cleaning alloy wheels with them completely taken off the vehicle - generally with a dedicated spray cleaner and a scrub brush, in a dedicated wash bay for drainage. Not only did it clean better than any other scenario, but I had a lot more confidence that I rinsed better, from every angle. Anyway, thanks for running this test so we can see 1.) what works, and 2.) what marginal returns you get/don't get for spending more on a cleaning product.
I use Purple Power and here is a tip... the cleaners that say "Foaming" are usually due to the sprayer and not the product. Foaming is good at allowing the product to "cling" to what you spray. So, I put Purple Power in the Foaming sprayer and it foams and clings more instead of running off quickly and allows it more time to work. Dont chuck the sprayer. Reuse it. Happy cleaning ❤❤❤
I own a Tesla, but I continue receiving conflicting information about the best windshield washer fluid to use in the vehicle. I have searched forums, spoken to representatives from Tesla (cannot tell me a specific brand to purchase), and read online reviews from many websites. However, after viewing three of your videos today, you give off an unbiased, easy to understand assessment, and a conclusion that best serves the viewer. This is not common elsewhere. If possible, could you please create a breakdown of the best windshield washer fluid? For the effort you put into these videos, thank you so much. 👏
Meguiar's G180124 Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner - 24 Oz Spray Bottle is amazing for brake dust. My only complaint/comment with this test was I didn't see you spray with full hose pressure. I get why you couldn't but it would have made a large difference for some of these products. I use a 2GPM(tested flow) 1k PSI pressure washer and never scrub a single thing. Wheels and tires look spotless. Still a solid test Todd. Thanks as always.
Good work. Took me a moment to realize why the same products that didn't do well on the performance tests also didn't hurt the unprotected aluminum - they didn't do anything at all in the first place!
Finally got a chance to watch this, I was actually amazed that the cheaper products outperformed the more expensive ones. Just goes to show that more money doesn't necessarily mean better results. I had a thought on something to test: Dishwashers and the soap used.
I have always used my regular wash water with a tire brush. Brake dust comes off easily so just a quick pass with the brush usually does it. It does a good job and I don't worry about chemicals damaging anything.
I followed your advice and used Meguiar's, a brand I never heard of. Worked GREAT! Consider testing household cleaners and wheels and tires -- 409 and Simple Green, for example. [I use Simple Green on table saw blades. Fabulous.]

This has by far been the best RUclips video I’ve watched in a long long time. No bs, straight to the point, scientific and just plain simple! Thank you for your help in letting me decide what to buy. I think I’m convinced Adam’s is the way to go.
Thanks and you are welcome! Thanks for sharing!
I hope you never run out of things to test. Definitely 100% my go to youtube channel
Thanks!
Steps to enjoy a PF video - click on video, hit thumbs up, crank quality to max, sit back and learn. Great video as always, Todd!
Thanks!
I agree
Using a test tire with raised white lettering would have shown the differences between the products better than an all black tire. This is due to two reasons: 1)The white letters show dirt more than black, and 2)The rough texture of the white letters (due to the tire manufacturing process) makes them harder to clean than the smooth surfaces.
For anyone who wants their tires to look really good: I apply tire cleaner all the on all 4 wheels then a second coat followed by a tire brush. After that, I use a power washer on the tires and they look how I want them to.
Thanks for your great work.
You are welcome!
There used to be a "tire bleach" white wall tire cleaner that worked great on white lettering.
Great testing! Years ago I used Napa's aluminum wheel cleaner on my car. It did an excellent job of removing brake dust and cleaning the rims without damaging the clear coat. It was an acidic solution though.
Thanks! Thanks for sharing.
Now we need a best brush and sponge test video! :D
Good idea!!
Never throw away a used toothbrush. 🪥
And, horsehair paint brushes are my go-to. (I'm cheap)
@@ProjectFarmif you do, you have to test Libman sponges. They’re made in America and affordable.
Wanna see the scrub daddy/mommy against the other brands, those things last forever and don't smell either
Woke Up just in time for Project Farm 👌 Always enjoy seeing the Automotive Uploads!
Thank you!
When sprayed on tires, it pulls the grime from the tires with no scrubbing, rinse, apply your favorite tire shine, and a clean tire makes the tire shine look so much better
Edit: around 4.50-5.00 per gallon.
Thanks for the feedback.
Whats your fav tire shine?
This is probably the best product review channel on RUclips! Great job and much appreciated sir!
Thanks so much!
Generally I have stuck with Meguire's or Turtle Wax tyre cleaners, they have never let me down. Glad to see that the Meguire's isnt rubbish.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Agree, in the market for one and they all have quite a lot of downsides. Would like to see which has best face detection and no car false positives
And if it's shared with your local PD without you knowing.
I would really appreciate this one. Its so hard to find one that doesnt have a subscription and isnt garbage or made in China.
Perfect timing for me for this video as I plan on washing my truck today. Great video as always!
Thanks!
The channel is an incredible public service. The world is a better place with you in it.
Thanks!
Man oh man....that was great. I often get caught up trying to decide what product to buy and your channel makes it easy by removing the guesswork. Thanks a bunch for the time and effort you put into your test/videos....Job always well done.
Thanks and you are welcome!
I've run out of ways to tell you how GREAT This channel is. Thank You Todd. 👍🇺🇸
You are welcome!
Adams is ranked #2 on Amazon. Meguiars is #7. Both look like solid choices. Amazing work on this testing.
Thanks!
Its like you are a mind reader. I'm about to do a full detail on my wife's 4runner and was looking in to buying a good wheel cleaner as that area is always a struggle. Thanks for the info!
You are welcome!
In addition to Adam’s, Griot’s is also very effective.
So which one are you going with?
I always just use Simple Green full strength for wheels & tires, makes white letters nice & bright white as well.
Same. We need an update with more products, including Simple Green.
You literally answered a question I had just a day ago about safety of my Adams product on my wheels. I can rest easy - just make sure the product is completely gone. Thanks Project Farm!
My pleasure!
You are welcome! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Todd! I think I requested this about a week ago, and it's exactly what I wanted to know
You are welcome! Thanks for requesting this video idea!
Awesome review! When I need to make a purchase, I always go with Project Farm recommendations!
Thanks! Thanks for the feedback.
Great vid buddy!! Love it!! Love all these test you do! Josh
Thanks!
I have been using Adamns for a decade now. I love it!! I was washing my car and my neighbors had people over, a guy came up to me to ask me what product I was using because of how much nasty thing it was removing and how clean the wheels and tires looked
Thanks for sharing.
Love your work Todd! Thank you as always for doing the Lords work! We all need the best of the best products in this economy!
Great point on making every dollar count!! Thank you!
I just came in from washing our cars, took a shower, sat down to enjoy a cold beer, and this video posted. The timing couldn't be more impeccable. Kind of suspicious actually.
Thanks for watching!
Ditto! I purchased a different brand of wheel/tire cleaner 2 days ago, and was just thinking to myself: "It would be nice if Project Farm did a review".
One of my requested evaluations, thank's for your videos and work.
You are welcome! Thanks for the requested video idea.
Great test! I happen to have quite a bit of Adam's and Meguiar's so glad to know I made the right choice. I like Mothers products as well. Thank you for all that you do!
Hey this was my suggestion!! Thank you so much for doing this!!!! Love your channel!
You just knew that ArmorAll would be the worst brand.
My wife needed some protectant for the vinyl on some patio chairs. She bought the monster size Armor All. I asked why and she said we could use it on the cars. I said absolutely not.
Armorall should be banned.
When you shine your dash with armorall, it evaporates on the windshield creating glare
@@redsquarejayI literally have been so curious why my dash does that thought I had a water leak somewhere. Thank yo for this won’t use again!
@@redsquarejaywhat do you use instead?

The TW hybrid solutions is the best tire cleaner I’ve tried. I don’t get a lot of brake dust.
Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks for sharing.
Oddball suggestion: pipe fittings. You can buy cheap NPT (even stainless steel) piping parts, adapters, etc, but a lot of them will leak.
Thank you for the video idea!
Unless you want him to buy random lots of 100
Who else has tractor wheels just laying around for experiments. This is why we love you
And a car with over 300,000 miles. Did you see his video when he did a whole bunch of repairs so that it could last another 100K?
I personally use 'Dark Fury' it's a great cheap option that's concentrated!
Thanks for the feedback.
Love Superior products Dark Fury
Good Ole Castrol Superclean is my wheel / tire cleaner of choice. No scrubbing, just spray and use a pressure washer but don't leave the product on the wheels. Another great video. Thanks
Thanks! Thanks for sharing.
Been waiting for this for 10 years
Thanks for watching!
Which is your favorite of 10 years?
Always been happy with Meguiar's!
Thanks for the feedback.
One additional test i would have liked to have seen.... add all cleaners to sections of tires on a car, then drive down a gravel road 24 hours later.
Most of these products look great when you put them on, but if you drive down a gravel road, the tires look way worse than before you add the tire cleaner.
Thanks for the constructive feedback.
Transformed my headlights by watching one of your videos before buying a product. I'm here again....Thanks buddy
You are welcome!
Could you test shop fans? I can’t seem to find a good one for a reasonable price that won’t give out after running for a year. I like to keep my fans running in my shop 24/7 to keep the air circulating.
Thank you for the video idea!
Thanks for the feedback.
I don't know what BMW puts in their brake pads but it's horrible to clean.
@@arturogv9889 Sonax wheel cleaner full effect is what I was referencing. Plastic silver spray bottle.
Elbow Grease for the win!
That'll work too. lol
I've spent 6 months thinking Hybrid Solutions was a great cleaner. Just ordered the Adams. Great work as always.

The Adams wheel and tire cleaner is my go to. Their detail spray is also very good.
Thanks for the feedback.

Idea for a video: Best oil filter, love your videos
Pretty sure he's already made that video
There is about 3K videos out there on oil filters, you can find something by searching. We need another oil filter video about like we need another photo of the moon.

Just started the video and have used 80% of these products. Guarantee by the time I reach the end, my new choice of cleaner will be the from the results of Project Farm's test. There is no one more thorough and accurate with real-world testing.
Thanks!
Simple green works good for wheels and tires
Thanks for sharing.
Could you make a video of best plastics cleaner for like fourwheelers and dirtbikes
Thank you for the video idea!
I've done my share of cleaning it, what are you trying to do with it? It is porous, very tricky. I've had good luck with a power washer at a distance. Is it stained?
@@ProjectFarm also what about a plastic restorer like the wet sanding
Thanks for this!

Good morning!!
Thanks! Thanks for the feedback.
Doing it the cheap way: dishwasher detergent and dishwasher shine. All clean all shiny.
...even better: buy a second hand dishwasher from Marketplace or similar and use it to rinse the entire wheels! The machine can be stored in your garage.
I have one I've been meaning to try, does cold water work okay?
What a good idea!
I've been using the armor all rim/tire cleaner for years now and I love it. Seeing the blue foam turn white mixed with the grime and brake dust is satisfying. Hit it with a brush and rinse and they are dirt free. Plus it's easier to apply vs squeezing the trigger.
Thanks for sharing!
@@ProjectFarm Thank you for your continued content that you provide
The Adam’s wheel and tire cleaner is amazing! I off-road my truck and it legitimately made my tires look like new. Thank you PF!

One of the only people I trust. So many detailer YTers, one week they are promoting one product as the best ever and a month later, something else. Pretty obvious why the opinions change so often.
Thanks!
Thanks so much!
Thanks and you are welcome!
Greatest channel of all time especially because no sponsors are taken so it isn’t biased
Thanks!

Hardest-working RUclipsr on the entire site. Another awesome and informative video.

Thanks for the feedback.
You are welcome! Thanks for the constructive feedback.
Good work. Took me a moment to realize why the same products that didn't do well on the performance tests also didn't hurt the unprotected aluminum - they didn't do anything at all in the first place!
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing.
I followed your advice and used Meguiar's, a brand I never heard of. Worked GREAT! Consider testing household cleaners and wheels and tires -- 409 and Simple Green, for example. [I use Simple Green on table saw blades. Fabulous.]
