A little update for you guys. In July we I raced in the 24hrs of Lemons endurance race and had to quarantine for 2 weeks after. In the meantime, since I couldn't film, I was working on editing videos and planning out content. I have a dent removal video coming out next and then the endurance race video coming out right after. I am still alive, just life is getting in the way of getting stuff done sometimes. I am a professional detailer, and this guy is how I got my start. His super clean videos were the catalyst that has launched me forward to doing over 150 cars since I started. Great content
2 years of build up - man, each like should count as 10. You've put in a lot of time and work into these vids, and they're honestly, hands down, the very best tutorials for maintaining/fixing/caring for our vehicles - no more matter how humble or top end they are! Thank you Chris!
@MrCOLTSR2 Have you ever produced video content, taken the time to painstakingly go through raw video footage, get good shots, say what you mean and want to say clearly, and put together a presentation that gets to the point, shows what you need to know, without an audience getting bored, and doing a spot on job at all of that? I used to be a little salty at YTers making shit tons of money for making dumb videos, but 1 - this isn't a dumb video, Chris makes videos that actually help regular people keep their things nice, and 2 - having done video work myself, I know some of these guys work a ton to get good content out, and 3 - if these vids entertain us, why shouldn't they be paid? Actors/Actresses do... it's just entertainment for them acting some silly scene in front of a screen.
@MrCOLTSR2 his showing us what to use and how to PROPERLY clean a wheel, how come his showing basic stuff, his videos are actually helpful, so if his teaching basic stuff teach us something not basic
Ive been a professional detailer for about 6 years and just to add a quick tip--- Home Depot sells these huge foam cushions for like $6 that you can use to put the wheel on when laying it flat on your driveway. Otherwise rocks and such can scratch the surface of the rim, depending on the design. In a pinch, you can still cut up a cardboard box and lay it flat! Chris you are the man!
I use an old rubber gym mat that is 1" thick and 4'x4' that way all the cleaner and water won't hurt it and when done with it I roll it up and bungee it together. An added bonus is it works great to kneel on or lay on while working on my car, old guy here my knees are shot. So I tend nowadays to sound like a little girl when I kneel in gravel, oh ouch, wooo then the cussing start" you son of a mother donkey" LMAO
For years have i been around this channel and Chris’s dedication and love to help is the main reason he’s big. The same energy is still there even though it can be tiresome. Still glad he’s helping others by showing us things we would’ve looked over
@@chrisfix i've beenwatching these videos since the start of the driftstang. Ahh those were the days. I hope you continue that series or start like a part 2 or something. That would be *awesome* ☺️
It’s crazy to see how far Chris has come, I remember when he was under a million subs and now he’s almost at 10 mil. He’s stayed the same only with better quality videos, production and ideas. Thank you Chris for everything you’ve taught us.
I’m surprised the fem nazis haven’t attacked him for his trademark “hey guys” opening. I’m assuming it’s only a matter of time. I hate this world we live in now.
I really appreciate someone who is OCD. Just tried to clean the inner barrel on my Ranger / Mazda. It's much better but nothing as nice as what happened here.
Yeah I think there is some tar spots. It's 19 years old but I've cleaned it a few times because it just looks so much better and I swear it rides better.....anyway I digress. I used an electric pressure washer on the barrel. The spots behind the spokes are the troublesome spots probably due to not being able to scrub brush those spots.
I am absolutely blown away, Chris really just painted brake calipers and suspension with the snap of a finger. Hands down, these are some of the best put together videos on RUclips. I can't imagine how much effort and time went into making this video alone. These aren't just tutorials, they are art.
I totally agree with you. In my opinion the videos are tailored to beginners who are new to cars or just not sure where to begin which is common because the fear is common. The videos take all that out of it.
I should've known that the man who removed the seats to super clean the interior would also remove the wheels _and_ clean their insides as well. Once you attempt any of Chris's videos you realize that while he does make it look easy, it's a lot of work compared to what you might have done otherwise yet it's very accessible. That being said, what he teaches instills both competence and confidence which is rare nowadays. We forget that he condenses _years_ of his knowledge and practice and shares some of the lessons he's learned for free and that's truly altruistic. We don't see the off-camera, back breaking, dirty work (look at the legs of those trousers) you do from which you keep producing content. Thanks for all you do!
I love the small things like “I specifically didn’t clean this wheel for two years for this video” it’s those things and effort that I appreciate about these videos a lot
I “specifically didn’t clean my wheels for two years” as well … just not for a video. Seriously, I never thought about cleaning the inside surface. That is extra work but would pay dividends per brake dust adhesion.
Dude.... I'm pretty handy and I watch all the DIY videos that I need based on those needs...But I'll tell you this brother..NO ONE has EVER put so much much time and energy into showing and describing every detail that can come up! This is by far the best DIY video I have ever watched! Thank you so much sir!! btw, it TOTALLY worked and my uncleaned 3 y/o rims are now SPARKLING and spotless!
Great enthusiasm ! Love this guy. He doesn’t try to sell you products, unlike some detailers that are “sponsored” by certain companies. Chris is the real deal.
This is P E R F E C T timing! I was literally at Autozone two days ago buying stuff to attempt to detail my cars for the first time and going off of your super clean interior videos. I’ve watched how to super clean the outside and kept searching your playlists for “how to super clean your tires” because I figured “Chris must have a video for this I bet I’m just not looking hard enough”. I gave up and then now I see a notification for this from 4 hours ago! I may not be able to actually tackle my tires do to some mobility issues but I’m excited to be able to watch this and find out tips and tricks and at the very least know what NOT to do and educate myself. I hope you feel better, thanks for always uploading great videos. It’s helped me learn a lot
Pro Gamer move for you. If you don't have a pressure washer Just go to your local car wash and see If they have (idk what it's called but it's like a booth where you can borrow a fixed pressure washer) Works great Just watch out not to Go too hard as they are usually preety strong.
Good luck in your endeavors. It's involved work but well worth it. Just a tip for the interior. If you intend to remove the seats get a memory saver for your vehicle settings and use it before disconnecting the battery. Have fun! I just washed my car using the Chris Fix method yesterday yet the sun set before I was able to clay bar and wax it so I may have to do it again the next few days to finish the job properly unless the gods are kind and no birds have crapped on my car by the time I use it tomorrow. 🤞
I just started going to driving lessons and I've been dreaming about driving around with my uncle's jeep, and since he has passed away its just been sitting in the driveway for almost 4 years now, and this channel is really a motivation boost to pass my driving lessons and get my uncle's jeep fixed up and thank you soooo so much for accidentally showing up on my yt page I really enjoy these videos!!!
It's amazing how I just spend 30 minutes watching someone perform something that many people think is super simple, but actually there's a lot more to it. The attention to detail here is amazing, and it was all presented in a very easy to understand manner which I think many people can appreciate. Another great piece Chris!
I consider myself a detailer though I've been paid it's more of a hobby... or passion. I always check in on Chrisfix videos to either learn something new or just to better myself at what I do.
@@Longshlongjon22 well, I don't disagree with anything here. There are all different ways to get the results your looking for... the real one thing that I have learned is that I'm always looking for a shortcut..... and there are no shortcuts. To get the results is costs you time and elbow grease.
Don't we need to remove the wheel and THEN clean the whole wheel and tire?! In my next life, I'm going to live in the country and own a large building with a hydraulic car lift amongst other tools!
@@stepfour sure there is. Just dont look at this "ditailing" noob to provide you with it. Also dont watch the "youtubers pros" either since thair goal is to make it look they spand way more attention to detail and "elbow grease" then ANY pro would do for the averege ditail. Ones you do something for money, irregardless how you make it look to the customer the goal is to find the LOWEST standard the customer that you're competing for (read that again) will be happy with having paid you the max you could extract out of him. Ones you have that "level of quality" the goal is to get up to it in as LITTLE time and money POSSIBLE. The whole "charge as little as you can and overdelliver" is why most small bussness fail in first 5 years.
I don't know crap about cars. I've never had anyone to teach me how to care for cars, and watching videos just leads to more confusion and uncertainty; however, your videos have given me the confidence to start taking better care of my vehicle. You've earned one more subscriber today, thank you.
Just don't forget to torque them back on correctly, double check all 4 after you're completely done. Speaking from experience, having your car shit a tire at 40 mph is the polar opposite of fun.
@@chrisfix true indeed 😄 believe or not but I was browsing RUclips last night, searching for a in depth, wheels related super clean video and was wondering "snap, why does Chris have all these super clean videos but none of them are dedicated to wheels". So basically, I got what I wanted without even asking for it 😂. A new set o tires should arrive by Friday so I'll have the entire weekend to get the job done. Thank you once again bro!
@@Xehemoth Very true! I also watched a vid years back explaining ride quality. I was very surprised to find out that under or over torquing, i.e. using the old rattle gun, actually throws off the balancing. It was rather interesting .
I just spent the whole evening working on ONE wheel that probably hasn’t been cleaned since i was born, but wow that clay bar with the tire cleaner lube works so well. Thank you Chris for keeping me going strong through that whole process, you’re a big inspiration for me🤙🏼
All these years later and still killing the game Chris! I'm gunna try exactly these tactics in a video of my own to try and get some harsh stains off my Mustang's wheels here soon. Hope to have results like yours, thanks for always giving us the best diy car care tips!
@@chrisfix Wellp! I tried it. Unfortunately it didn't get the extremely tough 'stains' off in my specific case. I don't even know if it's stains or a more serious issue that my wheel has haha. Despite my own results, I feel confident that at least 90% of people who do this will see the results they desire! Thanks again.
Hey man, I just wanted to thank you for all of your detailing videos you’ve done. Your videos gave me the confidence to start my own mobile detailing business, and I’m now to the point where I’ve got my own shop and a wonderful set of repeat customers. I owe you the world man, thank you.
Chris, Again, you have knocked it out of the park with this one. I miss the days when you would upload weekly, but the writing, filming, editing, and explaining are off the charts as always.
I am Only 15 years old, and me and my best buddy just started a car detailing company. And this and your other super clean videos are so helpful for us, thank you Chris!
@@Mcbebblestin of course. I live in Norway, and I can make up to $6k a year with a «free card» if my company is signed legal. So far we have made $7k each in 7 months and we have to pay tax….so dont worry, we have everything under control.
Man, I've been around Chris for over 5 years! Still, he can't be more enthusiastic with every video he makes. Attention to detail like that really does spark a difference, and I usually just "out with the old and in with the new" but Chris just "in with the old and in with the new!" Love you Chris!
as a professional detailer of 11 years, this is a GREAT video for weekend warriors/beginners, the only comment i'd say is please be careful with PLASTIDIP and MATTE wheels, you have to use a special wheel cleaner for those otherwise you can damage the finish of the wheel. also, to remove tar, just use a clay bar, simple and fast. use soapy water and rub the clay bar back and forth and you're good to go, once the clay bar is looking contaminated, just knead it to reveal a new area. also while compounding, make sure to follow up with polish. a ceramic spray/restorer only lasts 1 month with proper care.
Also want to suggest being super careful with your wheels if you turn them face down, you really down want to ruin your wheels on rocky concrete or paved driveway. Make sure the wheels cannot fall flat on their face, or they could be ruined.
The finest maintenance video ever! Thorough (start to finish)...Like "health has no price," so too with wheels! I'd pay $50-75/ wheel to have this done... ( a time & physical inability issue). BRAVO
I've always been into restoring cars to their former glory. And sometimes with a sub 10 year car, all it takes is a little elbow grease to remove the schmoo, but also to really get into the fibres of the paint. Luckily for this video, it shows the wheels and everything near is often overlooked and every inch counts. I can absolutely imagine doing a full days clean on one car. Great work Chris. Been here from the start and thoroughly enjoying your content
the thing I find amazing about your videos is the commentary. It seems like you record your voice after the video, but it feels so organic and natural that it's amazing.
This video calms me down, giving a feeling of hope, that there is time in life for things like that. Just imagining taking it slow, whole day of just cleaning is already meditating for me. Thanks Chris
Love the fact that you do explain that you’ve been doing road/time testing over days/weeks/month and even years to show it can be done no matter what stage your at
As someone who used to detail cars for a living, I appreciate this. You also do way better than I ever have and I will use these tips on my new car to hopefully prevent it from ever getting bad lol
Very impressive. I've been detailing cars for about 5 years. I watch a ton of RUclips vids for tips, product reviews, etc. I have to say, I'm really impressed. These aren't high-end detailing products. I think most of them can be found at your local Auto Zone. Very thorough, effective, professional techniques and results. Bravo! You have a new subscriber.
Pro tip: I find that fresh painters tape wrapped around a regular socket works better than wheel sockets. I've been using this method for years and I've never had a problem, even on high gloss wheels. I've left new scratches on my wheels with every pair of wheel sockets I've used, no matter how careful I am. Best of all, painters tape is dirt cheap!
Man I thought I was OCD with my wheels but this takes it to another level! I mean touchup paint down in the lugwells! Where the lugs hide most of it, and what's left is deep in shadow - bravo! I personally can't take this amount of time on each wheel but I admire the thoroughness.
I am so tired and sore. Followed your engine clean video and then the tire clean video on my 2014 Corvette. Oh My God. My arms and back are killing me, but at 72 at long as I can get in and out I keeping it. The brush on the wheels with wheel cleaner was gold. The spray wax on the fender wells was great, the leaf blower to get the wet off worked like a charm and micro fiber towels for dry cleaning was magic. It took two and 1/2 hours but the car looks nearly brand new. I had to skip some parts especially the detailing. Just too worn out. But I am a believer Young Chris Fix and a new subscriber. Thank you so much Dennis in Virginia
Even though im a kid i watch your cleaning videos to superclean my dad’s car lol. Your videos helped me so much and thank you so much Chris for starting your channel with supercars! I love your videos Chris and never give up!
Great video as always Chris! One thing that has changed how I clean everything is drill brushes. Typically they come in a three pack, ones a big round, a small round, and one that is a longer brush. They go on a drill and now you can clean extremely fast, your hand thanks you, and the results are incredible. I understand not everyone has a drill, but get one for other jobs. Bonus points is you can use the same brushes in your house. The crap that gets built up in your shower? Literally 2 minutes and it's gone.
@@shanegrant2144 I've got o.e.m chrome wheels which are highly likely to scratch, but never once have they done anything. You have to make sure you buy the ones designed for vehicles.
Fantastic video. Very well explained, very methodical. I've been cleaning the rims on my car for over 40 years and use, essentially, your method. Cleaning the barrel of the wheel is essential if you want that "looks like new" look. Great job!
What I like the most is that ChrisFix always makes fairly simple, easy to follow and clear videos for beginners, yet always a unique and new topic. Thanks ChrisFix, I do believe in car mechanics but if you don't understand cars, half of the mechanics / car shops are more than ready to rip you off.
I used to watch Car Crazy with Barry Meguire and was always impressed with his enthusiasm and on-screen charisma. Of course, that got me using Meguire's products and found them to be great. Glad to see that you use them, too!
I don't think I've ever spent the time to thanks you for the sheer smount of work you put in. You sparked my love for mecanical stuff. I started working on my car watching your videos. I found a passion in working on mecanical stuff there and decided to go back to school here in Québec as a Technician in mecanical ingeneering. I've been working as a mecanic in a plastic thermo-forming shop and the concepts you ilustrates and the good habits you show in your videos is something I try to apply everyday on the job. As we say in Québec : Tu as fais une criss de bonne job! ;) thanks man!
Hey 👋 just wanted to say that I live in Ohio and I’ve tried so hard all my life to keep the family vehicles as clean and shiny as i possibly could with all these new products over the last few years it’s hard to understand sometimes as to what to use and a huge thanks cris you have shown me a few things that I can use to help my personal detailing shining much appreciated
Only thing missing on the video is that at 11:40 you need to be careful when flipping your wheels face-down. First time I took the wheels for a deep clean, I actually damaged the face of the wheel due to it resting against the floor... :( My tip for this is to use an old rubber floor mat.
@@rhobson I've worked on many vehicles and aside from dually trucks, I have not come across any wheels that touch the ground yet. Having a face that sticks out past the rubber is bad design.
Every car guy has a stash of a minimum of 7,000 microfiber towels. With an extra 7000 new in the plastic just in case. That’s the difference between real car guys, and guys who just call themselves car guys. 💯
Thanks so much for the in-depth explanation; for all the people that want to take their car to a detailer instead of diy- this is why they charge what they do, if you get a quality job done all this knowledge and attention to detail is really what you’re paying for Also, Chris we need the “Chrisfix academy” like a brick and mortar place to diy our cars, a garage where we can work on our cars instead of paying someone
I can confidently say I will never be able to get my wheels looking as good as yours, mainly because I live in NYC and don't have a driveway- but also cause your patience and attention to detail are second to none! Great video- while I may not be supercleaning my wheels anytime soon I will definitely use the tips you gave here the next time I hit the car wash! Thank you so much
Hey Chris! I started watching you years ago. Thank you! I watch every video and you helped me realize my passion. I start schooling for diesel mechanics in a month! Thank you for bringing out my passion!
My usual cleaner was not turning purple anymore (new formula, less smelly AND less effective) and left a lot of tar and stains. Now I probably will have to go through all these steps to erase 2-3 years of "not the right product anymore". Thanks for this!
Thank you Chris for making this video! I bought some rims from a junkyard. They are covered in stains and tar. I tried cleaning the rims with a garden hose and dish soap a while back, but they still look the same. I hope that this new procedure will make my junkyard rims look like new again.
Thank you so much Chris on continuing to educate us, I've learned so much on how to take care of cars from just your channel alone. You've also given me the confidence to perform maintenance on my girlfriend's car and my car that I thought I wouldn't have been able to before. Also all the money I save lol For sure saved over a grand these past few years. Thanks again, take care!
Oil changes alone save a ton of money for a driver who commutes fairly often. While the initial purchase can seem daunting it pays for itself in spades. Then if you aggregate the lessons he teaches and people can save a lot, as you mentioned.
Hey Chris, one thing I wanted to say is that a water biased coating like chemical guys VRP is typically better than a gel. From what I’ve experienced is that tire gel, if not left to dry long enough like you said, can sling across the paint once you start to drive. Water based coatings are easier to apply and do a better job of hydrating the tire and preventing dry rot.
@@chrisfix potentially, personally I’m willing to trade off ozone protection for ease of use and better protection from dry rot. Chemical guys vrp still has UV protection which is nice. I used to use Meguiars gel until I switched, it smells like grapes!
@@destroyerofmines152 agreed. If a tire is old enough to show the degradation from ozone. It's probably close to the 7 year lifespan anyway. The BFGoodrich tires I put on my wife's explorer look fantastic using chemical guys.
Of all the different wheel cleaning videos I’ve seen on RUclips yours is by far the best. My rims look just as bad as your demonstration rims did and I am going to try to restore them exactly the way you did
One great tip to keep your wheels from getting that dirty, is to change the compound of the brake pads. High quality ceramic pads will produce a whole lot less dust than cheap metallic pads. It's one of the best investiments you can make, and they perform much better, increasing the braking performance and your overall security.
Semi metallic outperform ceramics by a mile. For a daily driver yes they will work but not for a performance car. Also ceramics will make your brake system work harder since they wont retain as much heat as semi metallics
@@dub88acc that is accurate for racing cars: more aggressive compounds will brake better, but for daily drivers, the benefit of not having your calipers and wheels all covered with a thick dirty layer far surpasses that benefit. I noticed an overall increase in braking performance after changing my pads from oem to akebono ceramics, and after about 3 years, my wheels and calipers only need the regular weekly wash to stay clean.
Hey Chris, thanks for the video, been waiting for this for a long time! Instead of soapy wooder, I clean the tire from time to time using a mix of baking soda, water and car shampoo or dish washer (should look like a fluid paste). Just spread it on the tire with a paint brush, leave it on for 15 minutes and then use a brush to scrub the surface and after that rinse it. Works great!
Hey Chris. I literally never did anything from your videos to my car (no time) but i still enjoy watching every single one of them. Thanks for keeping us company. 😃
I think Chris must suffer from some sort of compulsive obsession, but damn, it's probably the only way to be so focused on so many details. The editing and teaching techniques are really at another level. From Chile, huge respects and thanks for these tremendous tutorials!!!!
Glad to have you back! Thanks for another amazing video. I knew there was no way you were going to leave that rotor, caliper, and strut looking like that.
This video is awesome. They way you do the super clean, the way you explain it, the way you edited the video. Everything is perfect. It was a joy to watch it from the beginning till the end! Keep up the good work! Respect!
I love your super clean channel so much! I can’t wait to start doing this for my side hustle. There’s no better feeling than finishing a car and making it look brand new! I’ve been practicing and following each of your steps in the super clean series and it’s by far my favorite! Thanks a bunch!
Truly amazing. Yes, requires some elbow grease, but having the right tools absolutely makes all the difference. Thanks so much, just an inspiring video!

Great tutorial, Chris!! Love your tutorials... My only problem? My wheels are completely plastic on the front siliconed to the rim... And it is already shiny 😆 Nothing to do, nothing to do...
Extremely impressed at the effort.. your content is very well put together and actually helpful, informative and comprehensive. Probably the first channel I’ve experienced that’s this efficient! Great Work 👍🏾
Chris I have to say you're a freaking boss! Every time I think you're going to miss something you never do. And it's helped me a lot in my business even though it doesn't have as much to do with the things you do usually. I'm in the carbon fiber business and your little tips have taught me a lot. Thank you!
Hey @chrisfix!! First I would like to say that your videos have helped me do just about everything on my own cars and have saved me literally thousands of dollars over the years. One suggestion for next time I would recommend trying is to use your Iron Decon *before* rinsing the wheels. Water dilutes the product and makes it harder for the cleaner to bond to the break dust and dirt on there. Your result came out perfect anyways but if you do it dry to start, it’s slightly faster and you use less product. Thanks for the great content!!
I usually use superclean degreaser 1:1 for tires and you can use it for wheels too. That's the cheapest method by far. I also use either brake buster for the rims or an acid based wheel cleaner.
I love you Chris! Keep up the good work I love your videos and you are my 1st source of knowledge about car maintenance and upkeep!! I have a suggestion for a video if you haven't done it already, could you show us how to replace lower or upper control arms, or CV axle joints? ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great suggestion!
Thanks for the tip! I used wood blocks on the tire but I like the foam idea! Thanks a lot!
A pool noodle works too. Cut them into 2-4, slice them to get 2 half cylinders and👍
Wouldn’t all the runoff mess up the foam real quick?

I really appreciate someone who is OCD. Just tried to clean the inner barrel on my Ranger / Mazda. It's much better but nothing as nice as what happened here.
Are there still stains or tough spots?
Yeah I think there is some tar spots. It's 19 years old but I've cleaned it a few times because it just looks so much better and I swear it rides better.....anyway I digress. I used an electric pressure washer on the barrel. The spots behind the spokes are the troublesome spots probably due to not being able to scrub brush those spots.

Thanks for all you do!

as a professional detailer of 11 years, this is a GREAT video for weekend warriors/beginners, the only comment i'd say is please be careful with PLASTIDIP and MATTE wheels, you have to use a special wheel cleaner for those otherwise you can damage the finish of the wheel. also, to remove tar, just use a clay bar, simple and fast. use soapy water and rub the clay bar back and forth and you're good to go, once the clay bar is looking contaminated, just knead it to reveal a new area. also while compounding, make sure to follow up with polish. a ceramic spray/restorer only lasts 1 month with proper care.
Also want to suggest being super careful with your wheels if you turn them face down, you really down want to ruin your wheels on rocky concrete or paved driveway. Make sure the wheels cannot fall flat on their face, or they could be ruined.
@@alanmccormick6911 agreed
Whats the wheel cleaner you use for the plastidip and matte wheels?
The finest maintenance video ever! Thorough (start to finish)...Like "health has no price," so too with wheels! I'd pay $50-75/ wheel to have this done... ( a time & physical inability issue). BRAVO

I've always been into restoring cars to their former glory. And sometimes with a sub 10 year car, all it takes is a little elbow grease to remove the schmoo, but also to really get into the fibres of the paint. Luckily for this video, it shows the wheels and everything near is often overlooked and every inch counts. I can absolutely imagine doing a full days clean on one car.

Great tip!
Been like that since forever in our garage 😂
Just put 2 or 3 layers at most of it and ure good to go
Thanks for the tip! Was just about to add those sockets to my buy list, now I won't because I have alot of painters tape lol
Man I thought I was OCD with my wheels but this takes it to another level! I mean touchup paint down in the lugwells! Where the lugs hide most of it, and what's left is deep in shadow - bravo! I personally can't take this amount of time on each wheel but I admire the thoroughness.
You basically only have to do this once so thoroughly.
I feel the touch up in lug wells is also futile, since tightening the lugs will scratch the paint again.
They scratch the crap out of your paint and are usually of Dubious quality I find. I suppose with enough suds and attention damage could be avoided

Only thing missing on the video is that at 11:40 you need to be careful when flipping your wheels face-down. First time I took the wheels for a deep clean, I actually damaged the face of the wheel due to it resting against the floor... :(
My tip for this is to use an old rubber floor mat.
I'd also loosen the nuts whilst wheel is on the ground, and tighten on the ground, fundamentals.
running wider tires or even the correct tires helps protect your wheels

Hey Chris, one thing I wanted to say is that a water biased coating like chemical guys VRP is typically better than a gel. From what I’ve experienced is that tire gel, if not left to dry long enough like you said, can sling across the paint once you start to drive. Water based coatings are easier to apply and do a better job of hydrating the tire and preventing dry rot.
You’re right! It is petroleum based but it has the ozone protection it in which I’m not sure if water based products can have.

One great tip to keep your wheels from getting that dirty, is to change the compound of the brake pads. High quality ceramic pads will produce a whole lot less dust than cheap metallic pads. It's one of the best investiments you can make, and they perform much better, increasing the braking performance and your overall security.
Ceramic pads produce less dust and last longer, but I believe the old non-ceramic pads actually perform better from what I've read.
Semi metallic outperform ceramics by a mile. For a daily driver yes they will work but not for a performance car. Also ceramics will make your brake system work harder since they wont retain as much heat as semi metallics
What Neil and Dub said is 100%
@@dub88acc that is accurate for racing cars: more aggressive compounds will brake better, but for daily drivers, the benefit of not having your calipers and wheels all covered with a thick dirty layer far surpasses that benefit.

My neighbor just had a visitor over in a Ford and I was very happy when I saw the same wheels from the video that taught me quite a bit. :)
Love your videos Chris have definitely helped me and understand how to fix my car when I know nothing about cars
Awesome! That is my goal!!!
@@chrisfix thanks buddy I appreciate all the help you have given me and people who may or may not follow you.
As someone who is passionate about clean wheels, this is the video I've always wanted
Fun fact: Chris uploads a video that always helps us
Perfect! I was actually just thinking about cleaning my wheels this weekend
