Dude you are a legend. I used to watch your videos when I was a green mechanic. Now I own my own auto-repair buissness and I'm branching into renting out and fliping cars. Naturally I'd like to learn to detail and here you are to show me the ropes again.
I just bought a new car and I'm determined this time to maintain my cars cleanliness. This video is giving me hope that even if I fail, I can easily get my car back on track with many of your tips and tricks without feeling overwhelmed.
I've owned a carpet and upholstery cleaning and restoration company for 34 years. Couple tips for you to utilize with your extractor: Use tide powder, mixed at two tbs per gallon of warm water and utilize this as your prespray in a spray bottle, like you did the foamy cleaner. Its tons cheaper and works on all fibers better than most proprietary chemicals. Add 2 tbs of white vinegar to a clean water tank the size you're using if you have any browning or yellowing you're trying to remove, or just in general. This will reduce the ph of the clean water side and very much help remove presprays and soiling. Finally, suck into the dirty water side a small cap of liquid fabric softener and that will kill foam as it enters the machine. Fabric softener mixed with water, at 4-1 softener to water, misted onto carpeting will absolutely kill any static shock issues too.
What about the protectant he sprayed to waterproof it- will spraying the protectant disturb the static reducing effect from the fabric softener or will the fabric softener make the protectant useless?
Thank you thank you!
Thank Man you’re a pro! The tide thing actually makes sense because they’re motivated to sell a household product that removes stains at a low price due to economies of scale.
Every house buys detergent on a weekly basis but not every house buys car upholstery cleaner except for once every 2 years.
That’s why Car cleaning products are overpriced because they’re marketed to a smaller market segment.
Great tips.
By the way, how would you compare using hydrogen peroxide to vinegar in removing stains from your experience?

We really appreciate your hard work. We are now working on a 1999 jetta and soon we will be working on my 2008 toyota sienna. The 1999 jetta will be sold soon the sienna will be our camper van for trips. We love road trips and because of this well we love cars. Thank you once again for your great videos and hard work.

You people need to be smarter about this type of issue. At our house it is simple having 5 cars and 1 truck. When anyone enters the house they hang their keys on their hook. So then.... If anyone has to leave you just grab the keys to the auto that is last parked. The only thing we had to do is everyone had to get their handgun permit. Since a few of us carry firearms in our autos.

Just a quick tip for anyone who wants a bit deeper dry clean of the carpets. Instead of using just a stiff brush, use the dry round drill attachment on the dry carpet lightly. The spinning and the vibration will loosen more of the dry trapped dirt. I do this after trips to the beach and even on just quick vacuum outs. Works great and definitely breaks up dust and dirt.
Little late to this but if your on a budget like me, heres a tip for the carpet extractor. Most shop-vacs have a wet setting so use that and tape a chemical sprayer on the end to make a budget carpet extractor. It works surprisingly well.
Watching this instead of doing homework and telling myself i’m being productive because I now know how to clean my car.

Then I thought when I arrived at home "first I will look up tips for cleaning cars" and here I am.
As a former detailer I always suggest starting up top first and working your way down because dirt and debris will end up on your clean carpet if you clean it first.
I love using those detailers wipes on the dashboard and plastic parts and trim and cleaning the glass on the inside. then the carpet
It is literally 11pm. Watching this video makes me want to get out of bed and shampoo the carpet in both of my vehicles 😂😂😂
I’m part way through doing mine, I watched this video a while back for help. I’m using a set of drill brushes, some super clean, and my mother’s wet carpet cleaner vacuum. It’s important to get your carpets as clean as you can before you use the extractor because you don’t wanna gunk anything up and you also want it to do the best job it can. My plan is to get the interior clean, air it out, then put an ozone generator in it in order to try to get the smell out of it. Fortunately I seem to have already taken care of the ant infestation by vacuuming under the seats last weekend.
As a guy whos cleaned Carpets, Tile, Upholstery, for 20 years(6 years with my own business), I approve of this video :). loved how he scrubbed it, I might buy the drill tool, so sweet.
But what if you were a 2002 honda civic?
@@mappy-5934 bit weird, but ok
@@curryman1526 ok but what if you were a 2003 honda odyssey
The drill brush is an invaluable tool in agitating and working the cleaning solution into the carpet and breaking up the stains. In tandem with the drill brush, the extractor (mine is a Bissell Spot Clean) does as good a job as any professional carpet cleaner.

Instead of using that carpet cleaner I just set my garden hose to mist and use the shopvac. I find the shopvac is better at pulling the water out than the smaller carpet cleaning vacs. I removed salt build up that was 1/2 inch thick this way. Another tip is get custom car floor mats that fit the whole floor and sides as soon as you buy a new car and seat covers. This will greatly increase its resale value as no amount of cleaning will restore wear. I also start top to bottom when I detail for the same reasons you do with the exterior, so floor carpet last. Thanks for the idea of using the drill brush I have a set but have not used them on the car yet! Just need to be careful that you don't ruin the fibers by going to hard. I also ordered a steamer...I should have had one of these a long time ago, so many uses! Thanks for all the great vids and boosting the confidence for the DIY community!

This is really good knowledge. I especially like that you show the “poor man’s tools” and the “professional’s” tools. Really shows whether or not you’d actually want to spend the extra money for better tools or diy your way into virtually the same results.

I would do that too! This car was so dirty that I had to get the carpets and all that clean first so I wasn't lying in it while working haha
You 've got something to teach!!! unexpected....👏👏👏

*DETAIL GEEK IS TYPING*
honestly, for detailgeek this would be a medium detail
I’m finding vibe buddies on chrisfix video comments now lmao
this is nothing compared to the vehicles he cleans
@@ekardnai *gasp* a fellow man of culture!
@@sean0611 none the less it’s practically the same thing he does. Actually it’s the same thing.
I've been looking into investing in some more equipment to restart my detail service again. This was a great refresher course, much appreciated.
Chris you've been such an inspiration to me. Because of your super clean vids, you've rekindled that enthusiasm I have for cars and I'm in the process of starting my own detailing business
The amount of work that goes into these videos is INSANE. The detail that Chris goes into is well worth the wait for these videos. Thank you Chris for making these videos so well! You have saved me a lot of money fixing and cleaning my cars.
Watching a ChrisFix video isn't just a tutorial on a subject. It's an unparalleled class on how to clearly communicate. And a big part of that is not cutting corners and keeping your personal standards high for how you communicate. Chris may not put out a ton of videos per year, and I'm sure he has huge, growing backlog of ideas, but when he does, it's no less than the definitive guide on the topic. All that extra time he spends making his videos as close to perfect as possible collectively saves orders of magnitude more hours for the people watching them. I can't say enough good things about Chris.

I work as a mechanic. I've seen worse than that in people's daily drives and work vehicles...
facts, use to run a body shop, the shit you’d find in peoples cars 🧐🤣
Watch the detail geek
@@tyltab1848 care to share examples of the stuff you’ve found in peoples cars?
Go work in a car shop you find out yourself lol..
just live in Victorville for 6 months
Thank you so much for the all your tips. I recently bought a Hoover spot cleaner vacuum and this video will definitely help.
I’ll be watching your other videos too. My car is a mess and I’m embarrassed when I give my friends a ride.
I will usually take my seats out on a regular basis to clean like this. But the extractor is a good idea. I’ll have to get one of those
I can always watch a Chrisfix without being bored all the way through the video
Dillan Mistry have already watched the Perfomance Exhaust Vid about a Hundred Times
Such a detailed orientated person! Love your passion for doing tasks correctly. These car owners were lucky to have you put such attention into their vehicles. Great tips that I’ll be utilizing…thank you, Chris!
Chrisfix transcends just car stuff. Learned from him to do it right the first time in life
I know! I want to be his sister, so that he could use my Car.
This is beautiful. This is art. So satisfying when watching this video😌😌
Thank you so much for this video! I followed your exact steps for the carpet of my 2001 Acura MDX, and WOW, the results are amazing. Oddly satisfying, but it really transformed this old car to be exciting to drive again. I’d like to share before and after pictures if possible!
Thanks a lot! I'm glad it worked out well and transformed your MDX! You can send the pics on Instagram if you have an account
I’m pretty sure that everyone has been waiting for this, but not as much as my car has
This was a video like 5 years overdue I was stunned when I came across this channel and there wasn't a video for it considering his cleaning videos really built his viewership.
