The days of wheel acid may finally be coming to an end. This stage of high end paint correction is an absulute must before compounding etc. The FACT that it won't discolor wheels nor trim is invaluable to both pros and hoobyists alike. Only draw back is the heavy sulfur aroma...but thats a 1st world problem.
I polished my car after I clayed bar. I focused mainly on the hood And it brought back the shine, however the black spots stayed. I'd appreciate the help. Thx
What’s the difference between this and Meguiar’s Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner? I have 2 bottles of UAWC and would like to know if it’s also safe to use to that to decontaminate the paint. It says it’s ph balanced and turns purple too. Seems like the same stuff to me?
@@valkyrie_voodoo could you please elaborate on that or explain how they’re different. Is it not safe on the paint? I’ve been holding out using it on paint because I’m just not sure about that…
What if this gets onto rusty parts of a panel? Planning on doing full paint correction on my old truck, but some panels have rust along the bottom and around wheel wells. What will happen when this drips down onto the rusty parts of the panels?
The product is recommended to use at full strength. We have not heard of it being diluted. The performance of this product could be affected depending on how much dilution you intend to use.
My car is 6 years old I just did this today and still not finished . I kept some spray bottle with only water nearby. Every time I hit a trim with iron remover I sprayed it off with the water bottle right away. The trim was ok afterwards. Also my trim has Armor all trim protection, so maybe that helped too.
I like these iron decon videos, they are strangely satisfying :) Whenever I can, I show their effects too on my channel. There are a few brands that are less stinky (some are actually even pleasant, like Bilt Hamber's and Nanolex's), but some are like rotten eggs (Eagle One, Chemical Guys Iron Decon).
If doing a full detail, yes, as it would help to start with a fully decontaminated paint prior to polishing and doing paint correction. Recommended to do an iron remover once a year or so.
First 🤙Meguiar's iron decon does not blacken unpainted raw aluminum ?? , because all wheel cleaner had a little darkness on my unpainted brake calipers! . Are there materials to avoid with iron decon? thank you in advance
Very/Extremely similar - Meguiar's Mirror Bright Wheel Cleaner Iron X is by far more shelf stable... So use the Meguiar's and don't store it long as it goes bad and wont work.
@@carlosherrera8541 not to cut in on the video but from the research I've just done since posting, best thing to do is either use iron decontaminate product and then follow up with water and vinegar mix on the glass. Other people are using a glass polish compound but I'll personally try the iron contaminate remover and water vinegar mix. Some also recommend clay barring your car.
They are both part of the chemical decontamination phase, which should be done before the mechanical decontamination phase with clay. You should only clay if needed, and only if you are going to polish afterwards as claying will leave fine scratches.
@@BlackHawkPSU The megs failed to work at all at a year and it was never opened when i opened it to use. I found an old gallon of ironx in my garage that was open and worked no problem and was 3 years old. Garage temp stays between 50 & 80 degrees.
Hi guys do I clay bar before I use the iron remover or do I use the iron remover first ? Car was left in storage in a dusty warehouse and it’s now covered in dust that won’t come off with a wash
Andrew Reichel good question, ive been using Beadmaker a synthetic sealant while drying and then i tried Hyper seal a Sio2 sealant. The paint was not slick anymore and beading was poor. So i then tried a Powerful APC and it became worse. Even after two washes with Reset to remove any residue. Ive since used Opti’s power clean twice and my detailer tried twice with a light clay and IPA wipe with little luck. Starting to think something went wrong with install of the coating.
What brand of coating is it, when was is applied, who applied it, how long ago was it applied, was is applied by a professional detailer in a enclosed environment, was the clear coat prepped properly before applying,is the coating 2yr 5yr warranty??? Those are the questions I would like answers to get a better understanding of your coating issues.
Ok I guess doing the coating outside may have been the issue here. Still have unanswered questions from you but the installer should answer. My biggest concern is why would a certified installer apply a ceramic coating outside??? Not supposed to do that for possible airborne contamination plus there is a 24 hour cure time etc? Smh
Besides Ironx , Megs Iron decon is the best. People complain about rotten egg smell from Megs Iron remover compared to others. Who cares??? Get over it
Finally a video that describes the decon process thoroughly! Thank you!
You are so welcome!

What about inside glass?

Those are probably tar deposits. You can get a tar and sap remover that desolves it and you can wipe them off.
How often should you decon (chemical and mechanical) a daily driver car?
Probably every 3 to 6 months don’t do it regularly it could** do paint damage if left on the car
I like the quick detail+ no wax. it has stated clean almost 1 month. .
It's important to polish after claying, otherwise you will most likely mar the paint.
Majority of the time you will polish after claying but if you use a fine clay bar marring is greatly reduced.
Speed master clay mitt will almost be guaranteed to mar you’re paint.

This might be a stupid question but is it safe on PPF (xpel)
Can you use it as clay lub
Is this a bit like traffic film remover or spray alloy wheel cleaner. Looks like a pretty similar product?
Wow great explanation from guys that know what a heck iron remover is and does tnks n blessings
Hello, i used by mistake in a self wash the wheel foam on my car paint ...but i rince it a few minutes later....do You think it damaged my paint?
Yep, you basically have to get it repainted.
Can Meguiar's Wheel & Paint Iron Decon - Gallon be diluted. The back label says “Ready to Use.” Has anyone tried diluting?

Clay bar the glass and use a 3m type soft scrub pad to agitate the stain but be careful it isn't harsh enough to scratch the glass surface.
