I forgot to mention the running pace coaching... This feature can be nice, but I personally never use it. I find it annoying to have a robotic voice in my earbuds while I am running, constantly trying to adjust my running speed. It is very hard to run exactly the pace it wants, and so it keeps telling me to slow down.
1. Watch view while running
2. Limited apps available - Samsung ones are best
3. Voice texting is great, and the option to send voice messages is nice too
4. Speaker is loud and clear, and the microphone works very well too
5. Bixby is effective, but can be slow and misinterprets contacts a lot
Much more useful than anticipated (for timers in particular)
Test out other Bixby skills
6. How well does it work on an iPhone?
7. Updates - touch bezel is on by default, and GPS is very accurate now!
8. STILL NO ECG!!
9. Can you get maps?
10. Battery life and charge time
11. Exercise rep tracking works better for some exercises than others (squats work very well surprisingly, but torso twists do not)
12. Comfort - I can wear this for about three days straight before I take it off to let my wrist breathe and become normal again. Very comfortable
13. Touch bezel practicality
14. Screen brightness in all settings
15. Accidental touches are real. You need to remember to go to water mode when you shower, or else take it off
16. Spotify is not great :(

This is by far the MOST comfortable watch ever! I wore it on a 4 day cruise in power saving mode and lasted the entire time no problem!
I definitely agree. Personally, I prefer the 40mm watch of the two. Smaller and more comfortable
@@MikeOBrienMedia I thought that to at first but after putting them on together I might go 44. The 40 is great as I don't have a huge wrist but I like the screen size and it's not that big. Plus I can only get the 44 in Bluetooth which is what I want

Just went for my first Jog. To fix the issue of the watch not showing up when you turn your wrist, you have to turn it gently. I was turning wrist fast and nothing....turned it gently and it worked Everytime.

Not long after my comment mine arrived and I've already used it on its first gyme session. Great little piece, comfortable and accurate. It mirrored the treadmill exactly so happy with that.

I just got the Active 2 and it is very good! I like it very much.
I've never taken off my watch too since I've bought it, except for charging, changing bands and taking a bath, I love it so much, sleep tracking is very on point accurate

@@chopin7572 I think it depends on the unconscious turns your body makes , heart rate activity and maybe even the mic to see if your in REM or NonREM sleep

The ECG needs FDA approval before it can be activated. it's not that they don't have the app to activate it, they can't activate it until the FDA says they can. Sammobile says they're expecting the approval to come through Q1 2020.

just bought mine yesterday. so happy with it so far. its just sleek and it functions better than a lot of other smart watches ive seen. but then again, i went from a fitbit charge 2, to a galaxy active 2 so i really dont have much experience with smart watches. but yeah im very impressed. spent a lot of dough so it better last me for a long time

I've been getting 2-3 days of battery life pretty consistently with this watch. I basically wanted a Versa 2 with GPS and that's this watch serves that purpose well. Having built in GPS is totally worth an extra $80-100 for me. While the phone connected GPS the Versa uses is about as accurate as the GWA2, it's certainly not as reliable. I was getting sick of my Versa losing connection with my phone mid run and throwing my pace off. I still take my phone with me for music and just in case I need to make/take a call. The heart rate sensor in the GWA2 is also quicker to detect changes in HR and is a little more accurate during vigorous exercise. My fitbit would consistently overestimate my HR by 10-15 BPM during runs. I used a Polar chest strap to compare and the GWA2 is more accurate.

Good review I had the same issues but its nice and smooth watch
I got mine yesterday and it might've saved my life because it told me my heart rate was really high (131 to be exact) from the medication I take. So now I'm not taking that medication again

there are no pills to fix crazy. you need self-control which is a fruit of the Holy Spirit of God. the bible says be angry and sin not. taking meds to keep your cool is not a good thing. learning how to self-regulate and cope with anger and lifes countless disappointments is better. theres a more excellent way through faith in Christ. good luck.

Great reviews Mike! I am getting close to purchasing this watch and your reviews are very helpful. I know the ECG functionality is built into the watch, but not enabled until they get FDA approval. Is there any risk that when they finally get the FDA approval, the functionality currently built into the watch will not work due to potential necessary changes to receive the final FDA approval? Great review and sensible pros and cons. Specially the auto wake up when running, can be a pain I switched on the tap wake up rather than flinging my wrist about.
I like the sleep monitoring also, has really helped me try and make a proper bedtime and wake up. Its really improved over the last three weeks.

I just purchased this for my husband for Christmas. He had the huawei smartwartch but since we were having issue w/ the back of it when charging.. it wasn’t properly charging even if he cleaned it already. He wanted the fossil ones maybe because the price is not that much.. but i chose this because of the very good reviews. I hope he will like this. Otherwise, we’re returning 😅 thanks for the video.

Hi Mike, it’s a great review as always. I bought my Active2 in February 2020 and I had to send back to Samsung to repair. They replaced LCD (screen) , charger and rear panel. When I got my watch back I noticed that now it is a model 753C, but I had R830. Do you know the difference between these models and do I need to send it back to Samsung to replace to my model R830? I would really appreciate your help in this matter!

It doesn't show the workout screen unless you actually wake the watch. Always on just makes the 'passive mode' of the current watch face show constantly. Let me know if I'm missing something with this.

I wish you would have spoken about always on display. I was having issues at first and I thought that I had a defective device. I soon realized that you have to have the watch securely worn in wrist and a clean sensor. It needs to detect you are wearing it. Also, the wrist wake up gesture kills battery. I have the always on enabled, the wake gesture disabled and screen tap wake up disabled, heart monitor always running too. I think it works best. I just hit home button when im ready to interact. I just look at my watch to check time (without any failed gesture issues like you said)and always on does the rest.
If you're wondering about the battery life with the settings I described, I wake up and get my day started around 7am and come home around 10pm. Battery would be around 55-50%

Does the active 2 have a fall detection feature like the apple watch that will automatically call emergency services?
Just got the active 2 gold color. I charged it fully friday around 3:30 in the afternoon and it's now Monday around 3 and it's at 5%. I have the heart rate set to hourly and the weather set to hourly. It's the LTE version I've used it to text answer calls and I downloaded 2 games as well as messed with it quite a bit in that time. Not to shabby. It is super comfortable and a lot more useful than I thought it would be. I also got alot of complements from coworkers the first couple days I wore it.
Great review. How improved are the fitness features over the Gear S3? I have the Frontier and like it but as a runner I feel the tracking is hit or miss. My friend has a Garmin and I'm considering this or the Garmin Vivoactive 4.
Awesome review! How does this stack up against the Fossil Gen 5 in your opinion? I have seen your Gen 5 review (which was equally thorough and awesome), just curious to see your longer term comparison.
Thanks! Both devices are very impressive. Overall, I would say the Gen 5 looks nicer if you're wearing formal attire, but the Active 2 is better for everyday use and much better for exercise. Hope this helps!

Isn't Huawei's software aggressive in closing background applications? If you can whitelist the watch companion apps maybe it'll fix it.
@@LidossPunchX I found out what it was, at the Bluetooth options I must have the call option on, I had it off because I use Bluetooth headphones and when it was on I received the calls at the smartwatch and no the headphones, I felt dumb now hahaha thanks for the help

Galaxy Watch also had lift to wake issue. I used it for a month early 2019 but returned it after a month.
Easily fixable btw... just pull your easy to the lowest angle you look at it at... ...and tap the screen on a voila problem fixed ...do that 3 times and you're good...
Does anyone use this for swim tracking and if so how does it measure it?
It with quite good, measure length, lap time, it even distinguish between different strokes. I am not a professional swimming so my strokes are not perfect and the watch will missing once in awhile, overall I am very happy with it. Oh I was using the Active 1, getting the Active 2 in a week
My watch is still going strong. I LOVE it. The only downside is not a lot of app development
