Remember when foldables first released and people were saying they'd get cheaper after a few iterations? $100 more expensive! $1900 for a phone is outrageous honestly.
1 The note was that range
2 the older versions are cheaper
3 1k is "more affordable."
4 They mean over time, not over night.
5 they are working on making it appealing to the masses, it will not be affordable until people are buying them.
$1900 for an incredibly delicate phone compared to a traditional phone and the use cases aren't even that great. Oh wow it unfolds! Totally worth nearly two grand when I already have multiple tablets and I can just carry them around in a back pack

I remember in the early 90's i had a pair of nice Sony wired (obvs) earbuds... When they died i cut the cables off and kept the buds, and put them in my ears and imagined how crazy it would be if they worked wirelessly, and remember looking at the size of them and thinking how impossible that would be... fast forward 30 or so years, I still remember that when I use my AirPods.
It’s not as much of a leap from tubes to transistors to integrated circuits.

My flip 5 was in use for almost a year now and have to say I am impressed. Not a single scratch on an inside flexible screen.
My flip 3 has a lot and the hinge is kinda broken at this point. Also the screen protector had to be replaced thrice, because the dust always gets in
@noobgam6331 well they are saying the flip 6 has double layer screen which is more durable, and fold crease has decreased alot it's almost non-existent
Same here impressed with the flip5, only thing I noticed was the screen protector film started creasing after 5months in of heavy use. Not a huge deal though.
I've changed all interior and exterior screens on my fold 4 under warranty and I keep seing no reason to upgrade
Agreed, my wife has a Flip 5, and I have a Fold 5 no issues at all with either after a year.
I've been using my Z Fold 4 since november 2022, it still works great and I love it! Probably gonna upgrade to the 6 when it comes out

Koreans really love the foldable form factor. I visited the country and everyone is literally holding folding phones. I think it plays into the ecosystem too. You can use your phone to pay for public transportation. So having a “smaller” phone to take out to scan is more convenient. I personally don’t get it but I see why people like it.

In the uk, the prices of the z flip 5 and 6 are the same - £1049. But right now, they're offering a 10% discount on the z flip 6. So the price didn't change. The only thing is the trade ins arent the best here. So its not worth it to upgrade, unless you dont have a flagship phone from the last 5 years like me. Its easy to find the flip phone interesting.

Media got access to this stuff a while ago to make these videos. They just can't release the videos until after the press release
I've noticed that unlike Apple, Samsung's media embargo ends when the presentation starts, so yeah, you'll start to see reviews then. Also unlike Apple who keeps their site focused on the event, Samsung starts updating the website as the presentation is going on so between the two, you'll usually find out what they are going to present.
Embargo gets lifted.....go!

Watching this on my fold 3, been going strong for almost 3 years. Battery never has been an issue once, and the durability has been wonderful!

Never had a Fold 3 but I had a Fold 4. This is the exact same phone as the Fold 4 but with a newer processor and more expensive.

I honestly just traded in for the Flip 6 because I've never had a flip smartphone but had one of those ridiculously tiny pill flip phones where you gotta tap the key 3 tines to get the letter you want when texting. I just did it because the folded size should be easier for me to work with at work when in pocket and more for the nostalgia factor of just having a flip phone.
I always come here after a Samsung announcement for intelligent and insightful reviews of the new Samsung products. This guy, Marques, does a great job with reviews!

The s24 is also way too fat in the hand imo. The main reason people get the fold is the ability to have a mini tablet sized screen on demand when needed and a slimmer profile for quick use.
My hands arent small but holding the s24 feels cumbersome when trying to use one hand

I work in construction and the fold has been awesome for looking at plans, and way more portable than a tablet. Honestly I'm most excited for the brighter display because the sun is bright yo...
How durable is it at work? Do you use a case? I don't want to spend so much money and then constantly worry about it breaking
@@3Oh3metrostation it's pretty good I honestly drop it too much and have the spen case without the hinge protection. The only issue I have had is I dropped it from about 5 feet and it landed with the inside screen directly on gravel. This left a small pin hole in the screen. But the Samsung care was great and got it fixed in about a day.
That looking at plans thing is worth it just for that. I use an iPhone 7 (just because) and that small a screen is fine for just myself viewing plans on the fly, but at least half a dozen times a day I have to refer to details showing guys details of what needs to be done. Pocket sized but tablet display is compelling.
I’d love to see a review on the Galaxy Ring first please, maybe with a comparison to the Oura ring, especially considering you haven’t worn a smart ring before, so you’ll be coming in as a clean slate.

A $100 increase for absolutely nothing tangibly new on these foldables is a yikes from me. Something's truly wrong in this category right now when it's already this expensive and gets price hiked for no reason.
Might have to do with the fact 50% of all dollars in existence were printed in the past 4 years. Dollar dilution should be expected. People keep saying things are all getting so much more expensive, well, that's because your central banks have hit the printing presses and devalued your currency while giving the new cash to their friends to buy up all your land and houses....

I wouldn’t have said that, people decades ago had said there’s no way you need more than 2mb of RAM. There is always room for significant advancement in electronics.
@@robertp457 Yeah, faster processing, the ability to run full desktop-class apps, etc., but factor and basic hardware-wise, it's at the Limit. Maybe something will pop up in the future; who knows?

i think mkbhd mightve made a error here. the ring should work with mostly all android phones according to android authority and the samsung support staff i just spoke to.

I like when you say the newest flagship phone is pretty similar to last year model. Ill then shop for last year and save 50% or more on pretty much the same newest phone.
That's what phones are like nowadays. Those were good times when companies actually made innovative products, but now it's just the same product with 1 new feature.
