1 The note was that range 2 the older versions are cheaper 3 1k is "more affordable." 4 They mean over time, not over night. 5 they are working on making it appealing to the masses, it will not be affordable until people are buying them.
$1900 for an incredibly delicate phone compared to a traditional phone and the use cases aren't even that great. Oh wow it unfolds! Totally worth nearly two grand when I already have multiple tablets and I can just carry them around in a back pack

Koreans really love the foldable form factor. I visited the country and everyone is literally holding folding phones. I think it plays into the ecosystem too. You can use your phone to pay for public transportation. So having a “smaller” phone to take out to scan is more convenient. I personally don’t get it but I see why people like it.
I have been using Flip 5 for almost 2 years now. No issue..in fact I'm more in love than before. I cannot imagine going back to regular phones after using Flip. Small & compact yet Powerful!

Also unlike Apple who keeps their site focused on the event, Samsung starts updating the website as the presentation is going on so between the two, you'll usually find out what they are going to present.

@@3Oh3metrostation it's pretty good I honestly drop it too much and have the spen case without the hinge protection. The only issue I have had is I dropped it from about 5 feet and it landed with the inside screen directly on gravel. This left a small pin hole in the screen. But the Samsung care was great and got it fixed in about a day.
That looking at plans thing is worth it just for that. I use an iPhone 7 (just because) and that small a screen is fine for just myself viewing plans on the fly, but at least half a dozen times a day I have to refer to details showing guys details of what needs to be done. Pocket sized but tablet display is compelling.
I remember in the early 90's i had a pair of nice Sony wired (obvs) earbuds... When they died i cut the cables off and kept the buds, and put them in my ears and imagined how crazy it would be if they worked wirelessly, and remember looking at the size of them and thinking how impossible that would be... fast forward 30 or so years, I still remember that when I use my AirPods.

A $100 increase for absolutely nothing tangibly new on these foldables is a yikes from me. Something's truly wrong in this category right now when it's already this expensive and gets price hiked for no reason.
Might have to do with the fact 50% of all dollars in existence were printed in the past 4 years. Dollar dilution should be expected. People keep saying things are all getting so much more expensive, well, that's because your central banks have hit the printing presses and devalued your currency while giving the new cash to their friends to buy up all your land and houses....

The increase makes sense if you think of it this way. The Galaxy fold 5 is still less than a year old. Buy that instead, since it'll be very cheap now. People don't seem to realize that even before the "7 year OS update" promise, most flagship android phones had 3-5 years of official support, old tech doesn't just evaporate, when new tech arrives. Use what we already have, then upgrade later on, so you make your purchase actually feel worthwhile. I upgraded from an S20+ to an S24+, and I realized most innovation is done with smartphones, they're all lightweight, lightning fast pocket computers that all have their use cases. every 5 years to upgrade is the way to go in my book. The fold 6 will be affordable once the fold 7 is announced. A year isn't a long wait.

The s24 is also way too fat in the hand imo. The main reason people get the fold is the ability to have a mini tablet sized screen on demand when needed and a slimmer profile for quick use. My hands arent small but holding the s24 feels cumbersome when trying to use one hand

In the uk, the prices of the z flip 5 and 6 are the same - £1049. But right now, they're offering a 10% discount on the z flip 6. So the price didn't change. The only thing is the trade ins arent the best here. So its not worth it to upgrade, unless you dont have a flagship phone from the last 5 years like me. Its easy to find the flip phone interesting.
Okay, I'll follow up my own comment now after using the Flip6 for a month. The screen is fine as is; and additionalyy I use it a lot. It's very handy having info and apps on the front cover. This phone is excellent and I won't go back to a slab again.
If you're considering purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Flip or Fold phone, I strongly suggest you think twice. As a loyal Samsung user, I bought a Galaxy Flip 5 less than a year ago, and it already has two pink lines and a black dot on the screen. After a lot of back-and-forth with customer service, they finally asked me to reset the phone yesterday, Friday, August 9, 2024. Today, I went to the Samsung store at Westfield Stratford, where I was informed that I would need to pay £340 to repair it because of a small dent, which apparently voids my two-year warranty. Given my long relationship with Samsung, I can no longer recommend their Flip or Fold phones. I've been a Samsung user since 2013, starting with the Galaxy Note 3. I still own a Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy Note 9, and a Galaxy S24 Plus, along with a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and Galaxy Buds Live. I had been considering upgrading to the Galaxy Fold 6, but this experience has completely turned me off Samsung. Even though I’ve been satisfied with their products in the past, I now find their two-year warranty untrustworthy. Goodbye, Samsung. I have photos of the damage that voided my warranty.
I've used the fold since the fold 4 and no problems with hinge or screen........unless ur a back pocket type of person sitting on my 4 made it make weird noises when folding but still worked with no issues I'm 170lbs. The hinge on 5 is good and I've taken some sweet underwater photos with mine
I like when you say the newest flagship phone is pretty similar to last year model. Ill then shop for last year and save 50% or more on pretty much the same newest phone.
That's what phones are like nowadays. Those were good times when companies actually made innovative products, but now it's just the same product with 1 new feature.
These phones are making me very seriously consider leaving Apple. I have a 14 Pro Max so we'll see what they do this fall, but it's not looking good for them to keep me.
You won't regret it. I've been a galaxy guy since 2011 and I've never looked back. Currently rocking the Fold 4 and I'll never go back to a standard candybar style phone. I'm hoping the fold 7 will have enough upgrades to encourage actually upgrading
I'd be interested to see a follow-up in a few months to compare the crease. Get two flips and one phone used but never flipped closed, and the second opened and closed like normal. Just to see if the crease gets worse or stays the same over the course of the phones lifespan.
I work at a cell phone store for and since we’ve been able to sell them over the past 3 years we’ve only sold maybe 20 at the most between the two models. We see them more because they have issues. People get deterred by the price. And you can’t do a screen repair claim on them with device protection, they make you do a claim on a new device. $100 increase is insane for them. Most of the people interested are deterred by the price and then the ones who do get them switch back to a regular phone.
I’ve been using an iPhone since iPhone 4S til iPhone 14 pro max now and I have decided to make a switch to Samsung !! Just ordered mine. Hope it’ll be worth it!

I wanted to come back to this video and leave a comment in regards to the Samsung Z Flip 6. I bought mine a month ago, and this Saturday (a literal month to the day later) my Z Flip black screened and started a nonstop boot cycle. I have tried soft reset, letting power drain and full charging , but from what I can tell the phone is shot. I am going down the path of warranty replacement through Samsung now. It's a real shame this happened because the Z Flip is the best feeling phone I have had in a long while. To anyone new to the video, if you see this comment just know that even in its 6th iteration, the Z Flip is still having problems.

My flip 5 was in use for almost a year now and have to say I am impressed. Not a single scratch on an inside flexible screen.

The s24 is also way too fat in the hand imo. The main reason people get the fold is the ability to have a mini tablet sized screen on demand when needed and a slimmer profile for quick use.
My hands arent small but holding the s24 feels cumbersome when trying to use one hand

In the uk, the prices of the z flip 5 and 6 are the same - £1049. But right now, they're offering a 10% discount on the z flip 6. So the price didn't change. The only thing is the trade ins arent the best here. So its not worth it to upgrade, unless you dont have a flagship phone from the last 5 years like me. Its easy to find the flip phone interesting.
Honestly flip6 is okay but they should have given the fold6 a wider outer screen display people have been asking that for a long time now

Okay, I'll follow up my own comment now after using the Flip6 for a month. The screen is fine as is; and additionalyy I use it a lot. It's very handy having info and apps on the front cover. This phone is excellent and I won't go back to a slab again.

If you're considering purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Flip or Fold phone, I strongly suggest you think twice. As a loyal Samsung user, I bought a Galaxy Flip 5 less than a year ago, and it already has two pink lines and a black dot on the screen. After a lot of back-and-forth with customer service, they finally asked me to reset the phone yesterday, Friday, August 9, 2024. Today, I went to the Samsung store at Westfield Stratford, where I was informed that I would need to pay £340 to repair it because of a small dent, which apparently voids my two-year warranty. Given my long relationship with Samsung, I can no longer recommend their Flip or Fold phones. I've been a Samsung user since 2013, starting with the Galaxy Note 3. I still own a Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy Note 9, and a Galaxy S24 Plus, along with a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and Galaxy Buds Live. I had been considering upgrading to the Galaxy Fold 6, but this experience has completely turned me off Samsung. Even though I’ve been satisfied with their products in the past, I now find their two-year warranty untrustworthy. Goodbye, Samsung. I have photos of the damage that voided my warranty.
I've used the fold since the fold 4 and no problems with hinge or screen........unless ur a back pocket type of person sitting on my 4 made it make weird noises when folding but still worked with no issues I'm 170lbs. The hinge on 5 is good and I've taken some sweet underwater photos with mine
Yeah I also have a flip 4, and aside from having someone else change my screen protector it's as good as new. What are you doing to your phone😅

I like when you say the newest flagship phone is pretty similar to last year model. Ill then shop for last year and save 50% or more on pretty much the same newest phone.
That's what phones are like nowadays. Those were good times when companies actually made innovative products, but now it's just the same product with 1 new feature.
These phones are making me very seriously consider leaving Apple. I have a 14 Pro Max so we'll see what they do this fall, but it's not looking good for them to keep me.
You won't regret it. I've been a galaxy guy since 2011 and I've never looked back. Currently rocking the Fold 4 and I'll never go back to a standard candybar style phone. I'm hoping the fold 7 will have enough upgrades to encourage actually upgrading
I'd be interested to see a follow-up in a few months to compare the crease. Get two flips and one phone used but never flipped closed, and the second opened and closed like normal. Just to see if the crease gets worse or stays the same over the course of the phones lifespan.

I work at a cell phone store for and since we’ve been able to sell them over the past 3 years we’ve only sold maybe 20 at the most between the two models. We see them more because they have issues. People get deterred by the price. And you can’t do a screen repair claim on them with device protection, they make you do a claim on a new device. $100 increase is insane for them. Most of the people interested are deterred by the price and then the ones who do get them switch back to a regular phone.

I wanted to come back to this video and leave a comment in regards to the Samsung Z Flip 6. I bought mine a month ago, and this Saturday (a literal month to the day later) my Z Flip black screened and started a nonstop boot cycle. I have tried soft reset, letting power drain and full charging , but from what I can tell the phone is shot. I am going down the path of warranty replacement through Samsung now. It's a real shame this happened because the Z Flip is the best feeling phone I have had in a long while. To anyone new to the video, if you see this comment just know that even in its 6th iteration, the Z Flip is still having problems.
