I think the 40mm version is plenty and saves you about $30 or more, just bought the 40mm version off of Best buy thanks to this review. It'll be my first fitness tracker and smart watch!
We have to change our attitude towards tech devices, just because a new version comes up doesn't mean I have to get it or throw my previous version away, if it does the job then I'll keep it, great video, I want to buy this smartwatch.
I've had the Active 2 for about 10 months now and it consistently lasts me about 3 days. Maybe it's due to the fact that I don't have it on Always On, but I go cycling at least 2 times a week and go for runs and walks on the daily, so I would say I use it sorta heavily. I have a Spigen case on it and an IQ Shield screen protector and it works great. For anyone looking to get it I would say it's definitely worth it and I actually prefer it over the Watch 3 (less bulky, longer battery life). I got the Stainless Steel 44mm LTE version... nice to have but realistically I always have my phone on me so I think for a lot of people the aluminum Bluetooth version is just fine.
A big issue that people who watch this video may want to note. The GWA2 has a weird bluetooth connectivity issue when paired with your earphones (especially the Galaxy Buds 😶). There's constant bluetooth interference if you put your hand down and walk. It only works decent-ish when your hands are less than a foot-and-a-half away from the buds. I thought maybe this was a manufacturing defect in the unit I received, but I faced the same issue with the replacement. This is a largely reported issue om Reddit, but it never shows up when you search for the watch. I was really disappointed with this, and had to return the watch. I'm not sure if you face this issue too Aaron.
Nice video! Convinced my gf to buy the active 2 instead of the newer watch 3 because they have almost the same specs. After scouring every store we ended up buying a brand new 40mm for about $160 here in the PH. That's about $200 saved!
I'm so excited to find this video. I have ordered one. It is my first real smart watch. Thank you. I had to slow down the video to catch all of the good stuff. 😂

I had the 40 mm. Ok ,but too small on my wrist. The sales people at and t pushed it on me. Great watch and fun but I tired of it quickly because of the size. So I ordered the 44mm ,looks much better , stylish, and the watch faces definitely look much better with bigger screen. The 40 mm stuck up too big on my wrist but 44 mm looks thinner and more sleek. I think I'm sticking with the 44 mm. I had the watch 3 version too. Looked great but didn't do anymore then the previous models. I sold it and am sticking with the active 2 44 mm. Great review, thanks and i subscribed.

Bro definitely subscribing you are alot better than other tech videos had me intrigued the whole time you deserve alot more recognition. Hope you reach the top faster than you can realize it.
I've had the original Galaxy Watch for about 9 months now. I've had the same issues getting text message notifications. It's not consistent and misses most. Not having Google maps and Google assistant is definitely a con. Bixby is unusable. I've tried a customer google assistant add on, but haven't had that much luck with it as well. Overall though I do like the watch. I was going to upgrade to the Galaxy Watch 3 but so far I just haven't seen the justification in what I'd get in benefits for spending the additional money.
All great points... If you already have an earlier Galaxy Watch, it's probably not worth upgrading to the Watch 3. The Watch 4 NEEDS to introduce a bunch of really useful and cool features, so Samsung, are you listening? And oh yes, keep the price reasonable, please. 😎
This might be my next watch! I have very small wrists and hands, so most watches are to bulky on me. It's important to me to watch my heartrate and want it to be comfortable to wear! Exciting:)
Good review I think you need to add the size---> For larger size wrists make sure you get the 44mm I have it and it is on the last 4 holes on the band. Barely makes it. The face looks kinda small for me. (48mm would be better) on the fence on keeping it bc i know its for active use not for going out & showing off. Everything else works really good. I think its a solid SM for only (now) $200 bucks! BTW its just fun talking to ppl through the watch!

Hey great review! keep up the good work! I'm getting this watch next week and I'm wondering if you've tried showering with it before, I know you mention in the video that it is fine to do so but I've read that the steam and soap can damage the watch in a shower, is that the case in your experience?
Unless you don't rinse the soap off the watch or put it in a steam cooker, those things should be pretty much safe for your watch. Just don't press the buttons under water.
Excellent review....just a quick question is it still relevant today considering the watch 4 is just around the corner...best buy is offering it for 270 dollars should I go for it...
My biggest issue is Samsung Pay is useless outside the USA and you can't add Google Pay. Also it can't sync to gym equipment like the Apple Watch can with GymKit. Otherwise I appreciate the sleep tracking and auto activity tracking. Also it's beautiful design and amazing screen quality.

Hi great video! I'm struggling to choose between this watch and the Fitbit Versa 3. The 44mm version is 30 dollars cheaper than the Fitbit where I'm from. I'm more interested in the fitness side of things. Any advice?
Hey @Bendaboss, the Fitbit is a more complete fitness package than the Samsung (which is more an all-rounder). Just know the strengths and limitations of each and you'll be good. Let us know what you decide on! 🍻
Can't get rid of my Gear S3 Rugged. I have both watches but haven't I just love the battery life, the heft and the Samsung Pay with MST of my Gear S3 and a few years old now.
My issue with wearOS is the battery. If the battery would last a full day or 2 to 3 days I would love it. That is literally my only gripe. I had the LG Watch Style and with minimal use it would die in 3-6 hours on me smh Getting this watch and I have a Pixel 4a 5g so hopefully it will work. Not a fan of Samsung though
Totally agree on battery life with wear OS (same with Samsung and Apple) - they need to optimize and realize that they don't need to throw the entire kitchen sink into a watch.
Hi Mahmud, glad you think so, man. I'm still a small channel, but with your help (pass the word and tell others), more will know about the stuff I make. 😁😎
Great to see you back, MK. Tough question you got there. I think it boils down to which ecosystem you want to live in - both are fantastic, so you're off to a good start. What other criteria do you have for a watch?
Great review...I just bought Galaxy Watch Active 2 in bundle offer with Galaxy S21+ in just INR 990 (USD 13.5 approx). Mistakenly, you showed Original Galaxy Watch during the intro at 0:32. Just a heads up. Superb review nonetheless. I'm you'll be pretty soon crossing 10K mark too. Cheers :)
I was considering which one to buy for their similar price(40 dollar margin) in mainland china, after watch your video, I bought the active 2, thanks for sharing!
Hey! Thanks for such a detailed review. It's highly informative. However, I'm stuck choosing between the 44mm aluminum and the 44mm stainless steel LTE version. I don't care much about the LTE, however the build quality with stainless steel seems better to me on top with extra RAM. But I've heard about overheating and shut down issues with the LTE version. Would you recommend going one over the other looking at the price difference? Thanks in advance! Cheers
Hi Gaurav, I've heard about those issues too, although I'm not sure how widespread they are. If you're willing to risk it for the looks, then go for it, otherwise, go with the regular model. Less RAM doesn't mean lower performance in this case. The slight increase in RAM for the LTE version is specifically too handle cellular duties, it seems.
Good video! Although is the bezel really a negative if you can turn it off? I suppose so as it’s genuinely awful 😞 I got mine recently and it’s very good, although I’m scared that I’ll scratch it
Wonderful review with Amazing video quality! I just ordered this watch and I hope I will get an alarm clock on in this watch cause that's why I bought it.

Thanks for this review. I'm looking to get me and my wife smart watches to track our activities, we are doing hiking challenges and I want to be able to have all that info saved like GPS and steps distance, etc. I like the Garmin but I don't want to spend too much, and the fitbit 3 seems to be another choice maybe. What do you think?
Hi Garrett, thanks for dropping by! Are you looking something to primarily track your activities? And if so, you might want something accurate, like Garmin or Suunto, etc. Then again, it also depends on your budget as well.
Thanks for the detailed review. After years of being a FitBit tracker guy I am ready to switch to a smartwatch. My wife wants me to get a Apple Watch but I'm more of an Android guy.
Hey Harry, thanks for your comments! The Samsung is a great place to start for a smartwatch, although it does make a difference it you're currently using a Samsung phone or not.
@@gearupaaron It was on the Samsung website using the group discounts they offer (military, first responder, educator, etc) Add the watch, then add the ear buds separately (not as an addon) and it automatically discounts. Not sure if still working.
The best Samsung Smart Watch over the last 3 years is the 46mm Galaxy Watch with it's 4 day battery life. I have the Active 2 and the new Watch 3 and the Galaxy Watch the older watch is better seems like Samsung is getting cheap with newer watches. The Watch3 added ECG but got rid of calories burn and battery life sucks big time I'm only getting one and a half day of life
Is Wear OS going down the gutter? It's almost a year later and I'm starting to hear from other YTers not to even buy a Samsung right now because Google the Wear OS won't be updating all the watches and the apps will stop working. I was just about to pull the trigger on the Galaxy Active 2.. Is the cheaper tic watch a reasonable choice then? Or a Garmin?
Great question! App developers are, for the most part, still going to support and develop current apps, as 2.0 users outweigh 3.0 users by a very healthy margin. Google isn't going to ditch this outright, but over time (rather like an older version of Android), you can expect a gradual sunset. I think we have at least 2-3 years yet.
Dude, I didn't even notice that it'd crept up to a 1000 likes. Thanks so much for watching and hope y'all have a great Christmas! Hope your wife likes her 🎁!

I bought the 44 mm today after my watch 3 died. There was a big price gap between them and not a big difference
I am sure your good voice will get you more subscribers by next year. Good video overall.
Thank you, Udit! Glad you enjoyed it. You can help this channel grow faster by telling your friends and family about it, too! 😎
good review. simple explanation with compact information. Thanks! might go for watch 2 instead of watch 3
Thanks for watching! Let us know how you like it if you end up with either a 2 or a 3.😁
@@gearupaaron i go for watch 2! Thanks for the help!
Good presentation, thanks for sharing!
@Ni San, thanks for the props and for watching 🙏😁! Hope you wouldn't mind subbing and sharing this channel with people you know!
Waiting for one for my wife. With discounts I got the 40mm for $57 off of the Samsung website along with a S20 FE 5G for $508 🤤
Nice deal!
Nice deal.
Can't get rid of my Gear S3 Rugged. I have both watches but haven't I just love the battery life, the heft and the Samsung Pay with MST of my Gear S3 and a few years old now.
I got it today and it's AMAZING!!! !
Awesome! 😎
Subbed! Great content man👍🏻 Keep up💪🏻
Thank you for your support, Tushant! Come back for more and spread the word - please share this channel with your friends and family! 😁🍻
This is a very Informational video! Thank you
My issue with wearOS is the battery. If the battery would last a full day or 2 to 3 days I would love it. That is literally my only gripe. I had the LG Watch Style and with minimal use it would die in 3-6 hours on me smh
Getting this watch and I have a Pixel 4a 5g so hopefully it will work. Not a fan of Samsung though
Totally agree on battery life with wear OS (same with Samsung and Apple) - they need to optimize and realize that they don't need to throw the entire kitchen sink into a watch.
Ticwatch 3 pro is for you then
U deserve many likes I don't know how no one knows about this vid
Hi Mahmud, glad you think so, man. I'm still a small channel, but with your help (pass the word and tell others), more will know about the stuff I make. 😁😎
Thanks for the review, I noticed negative written in Hindi though. 😉
Well-spotted! 😁 Thanks so much for watching.
Hi there,
I use an iPhone. I’m deciding on the Active 2 or the Apple Watch Series 3. Which do you recommend?
Thanks for another great vid.
Great to see you back, MK. Tough question you got there. I think it boils down to which ecosystem you want to live in - both are fantastic, so you're off to a good start. What other criteria do you have for a watch?
If I were to clean the watch with a disinfecting wipe, would that affect the performance of the watch in any way? Looking to pick one up.
Nope, but do make sure there isn't any strong chemicals in the wipe. Test on an inconspicuous spot first.
Nice video Aaron. A fan from Nigeria!
Thanks for tuning in, Elijah! How are things over there in Nigeria? Please sub and share this channel with friends and family if you can. 😁
i have the galaxy watch which i love but i recommended this watch to my cousin and he loves it as well
Thanks for sharing!
Cheers :)
Good eye - I think you're the 3rd person t notice it. Are you a Samsung watch fan, because usually it's Samsung fans who spot these things. 😆
@@gearupaaron I kinda am a Samsung Fanboy now a days, but I appreciate all great tech that makes sense to me.
I was considering which one to buy for their similar price(40 dollar margin) in mainland china, after watch your video, I bought the active 2, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing Joey... How do you like the watch so far (or not)?
@@gearupaaron just ordered it on amazon DE this morning haven't arrive yet, I will share the experience as soon as I get it.😄

Thank you for watching and your support, Misael! I appreciate the props! 🍻👊
Thank you Aaron, your review helped me a lot !
Glad it helped your decision, Arhiliuc! Did you end up getting one?
@@gearupaaron yes, i get one. Works well, battery life is poor, but i deal with it in my way ;) About versatility - this watch really have it
The battery, as you noticed too, is the only downside of Samsung, Wear OS, Watch OS watches. Glad you're enjoying yours! 👍
Good video! Although is the bezel really a negative if you can turn it off? I suppose so as it’s genuinely awful 😞
I got mine recently and it’s very good, although I’m scared that I’ll scratch it
U should be close to 5 million subscribers. Excellent review.
Ha-ha, thanks Rafiq! Well, I'm almost at 5k, so another 4.955 million to go! 😁
Wonderful review with Amazing video quality!
I just ordered this watch and I hope I will get an alarm clock on in this watch cause that's why I bought it.

Great reviews, omw to return my Versa 3 and get this watch instead
Thanks for watching! What's making you switch?
@@gearupaaron The step counter was very inaccurate and counting steps as I was driving, sleeping, and etc.
That’s exactly what I did 😬 Fitbit wasn’t it
It's Februrary, 2020 and I'm thinking of buying this watch!
Do it!
I very like your glasses, can you tell me a brand name please?
Oakley's! Most durable and best-looking ones I've owned so far.
Got one and a pair of samsung ear buds for $ 170 yesterday. Looking forward to trying it out.
You're the second person to quote that price... Where is this deal? Anyway, enjoy your new toys! 👍
@@gearupaaron It was on the Samsung website using the group discounts they offer (military, first responder, educator, etc) Add the watch, then add the ear buds separately (not as an addon) and it automatically discounts. Not sure if still working.
That's sweet! Thanks for the tip!
@Corey Harmon When is it suppose to come
@@owencoffman9048 I got it about 2 weeks ago maybe. I like it so far. About 3 days of use before having to charge
I subscribed to your channel ! Hope you get to the 5k !!👍🏼 Thanks for this video, I am a proud owner of Active 2👍🏼
Thank you Ajit! I appreciate your support, sir! Tell you friends and family about GearUP - that would help greatly too! 😁
The best Samsung Smart Watch over the last 3 years is the 46mm Galaxy Watch with it's 4 day battery life. I have the Active 2 and the new Watch 3 and the Galaxy Watch the older watch is better seems like Samsung is getting cheap with newer watches. The Watch3 added ECG but got rid of calories burn and battery life sucks big time I'm only getting one and a half day of life
Appreciate your insight, Darryl! Thanks for sharing, man. 🙏
I was your 1K like, nice review. Going to pick this up for the wife off Santa
Dude, I didn't even notice that it'd crept up to a 1000 likes. Thanks so much for watching and hope y'all have a great Christmas! Hope your wife likes her 🎁!
I bought a watch 3. After much back and forth with tech support, I found out that my LG G8 thinq WAS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE WATCH 3!! The good news is that the ACTIVE 2 IS!!
Wait, wha--, I've not heard of an LG not being compatible with a smartwatch. Glad you have that sorted out, Bob!
Great vid!!! I just got the active 2 44mm after using a credit but haven't unboxed it yet... more reviews ive read I worry bout ut getting wet and not working.... would love to hear your thoughts on that as I know it says its waterproof to 5m for 30 min but again lot of people complaining and think if I keep it ima put a supcase on it but thanks again!!!
Hey Wade, thanks for your question! Anyway, as with 5ATM watches, if any of the buttons are depressed while submerged is just asking for trouble.... Maybe that's what's causing all those water problems.
@@gearupaaron so would you worry bout water bein an issue with that supcase on it the active 2 and odviouslt i wouldn't be messing with ut underwater... and thats you for your reply. Its greatly appreciated
You're welcome! I guess that depends on the case - some can trap moisture and cause issues too, and some are okay.
Thanks for the video, Can we log dumbell weight to track?
You mean like dumbbell reps?
Is the text notification problem just and Active 2 problem or on the 3 as well?
Hey Jonathan, sorry I've not tested the 3 yet, so can't speak for it. 😔
Is it safe to go for it now?? Since samsung announced that they support watch active 2 until Sept 2022
Loved the review! Detailed but to the point. Love the presentation as well. Subbed!
Thanks Andie for your kind words and support! There's definitely more to come and you can help by telling your friends and family about GearUP! 😁
Great video bro!
Thank you, Louie! 🍻✌️
Hey there GearUp. First, great job!
Question: My Samsung Active 2 doesn't show floors at all. The only way I can see them is on the Samsung Health app on my phone...however, it NEVER counts any steps. I have tried to do all kinds of different ways of climbing steps, but it doesn't work. I read basically every post I can find on it and it doesn't work. I have the latest updates. Any thoughts?
I don't have the watch any more, unfortunately, but let me try! So the stairs count is not showing up on your daily data or on one of the watchfaces?
