Used it since it was out. Surprisingly, it's my new favourite smartwatch. The bezel on the classic is a stress reducer. They actually add something I've been asking for sometime, the internet browser. It's still janky but keep the feature coming Samsung. Wear OS future doesn't look so cloudy after all, huh.
I don't have the start up lag because my gs4 never dies. I charge it every night. I am down to 30% because I use everything. Live Screen with AOD and 75% battery and fitness tracking does that.
HEY MIKE, THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO! THIS IS A LONG COMMENT SO HERE I GO. I have the GW4 Classic 46mm. It came out here in the PH Sep 22nd and bought it the 24th. So far, here is what I think. Battery drains quick, the 40hrs it was marketed with, I never got. It also charges VERY SLOWLY. The sleep tracking feature is way off in recording REM and deep sleep. But fortunately, if I wake up in the middle of the night, it will continue recording my sleep when I go back to sleep. And Yes, thanks for mentioning the terrible lag that is going on when I just turn it back on. If takes maybe a minute before it is fully responsive. Workout tracking for me is quite bad. It doesn't count the reps accurately. Sometimes it overcounts them, sometimes it doesn't count them at all. Push-ups recording is in duration! WTH?? Bixby is HORRIBLE in this watch. When I ask it to turn my Samsung Smart TV on, it does after maybe 45 secs to a minute, but the watch still says PLS WAIT or something, and stays there till I press something to exit. BP and ECG still not available. That is terrible as these for me are 2 major features. HR and SPO2 are good, they seems pretty close to accuracy. Speaker is not that loud, when I answer a call I litetlrally have to lean my ear close to it so I can hear. But good job in connecting my Buds Pro to it, it does connect to them seamlessly. Very limited watch faces that actually look great. Most of them are not good-looking. Also, when I select Blood Oxygen and Stress Level as complications, IT LITERALLY indicates the words STRESS and BLOOD OXYGEN, and not the measurements. Whatever WF I select, it does this, not sure why! Notifications are great, though not perfect. I just wish there was a way for notifs on my phone to be silent when they have sounds in my watch when I am not using my phone. Is there a way for this that I am not aware of? ************* So there! I am a loyal Samsung customer since 2012, everything Smart I owned are all from Samsung. Phones, Headsets (Buds), Washing Machine, Smart TV, Tablets, Gear VR. I love the premium feel of wearing this watch, but after almost 3 weeks of using it, I can now conclude that I REGRET BUYING THIS WATCH. The features do not work properly and accurately, and I don't really use it so I just wasted $400 on this watch.
Hopefully, software updates will fix this issues. You can enable missing features now. There are couple of tutorials on RUclips. I have blood pressure and ECG enabled. You just need to install modified version of Helth monitor app on your watch and also on your phone.
@@JoshB-zc5jb the reason I said thank u was I was about to considering to apple products to Samsung but reading this comment n watching this video I decided not to
My conclusion too. In my case, stress level doesn't work, it's at the lowest level all the time. For me, Tizen was great, WearOS not so good until now.
The voicemail notification when there's no voicemail is really really annoying. Besides that....I haven't had any issues with it. Did I say how annoying that glitch is?
does it track blood oxygen levels? the last fitbit i bought was marketed with it and the feature was never released, i read somewhere that this one has it. Nice review by the way :)
Boss, if you want accurate body compensation you have to do it only in the morning before you drink water or have breakfast. If you drink glass of water, result will be different immediately. Also you should take off any metal like ecklace or anything, in order to have better accuracy.
It's also just not very accurate, doing everything how you should there was a 3% difference between what my bf percentage actually was and what it was on the watch which is a large amount of bf
Samsung officially announced that Google Assistant will be coming in a future update. They said that at launch of the watch, let's hope they stay true to their word!
I also have the watch 4classic 46mm since it came out here in the US. And I am really satisfied,it's my first smartwatch and I went all Samsung with a new z flip 3 and the watch. They work together seamlessly. Look and feel are worth the money for me, I can't say about the fitness part because I don't work out that much, but Its pretty good with the step counts, heart rate, ECG,and spo2, and sleep tracking. I actually listened to my snoring that it detected lol. All in all I like the watch and can't wait for more software updates and Google assistant to come, I also got a lot of watch faces to choose from with facer and watch maker premium! It does a good job of not having to always pull out my phone which is a big reason why I got it. Thanks 👍!
how has the flip 3 worked for you so far? been super curious to get one but the negative reviews about the screen cracking out of nowhere are making me doubt me purchasing it.
@@kvnale Yeah I've heard that, but my screen is fine and I have had this phone ever since it came out. Only things to worry about maybe would be better battery life, and having to be a little careful scratching the screen with a sharp object, even though it comes with a screen protector if you dig your finger nail into it it can leave a mark because of the style of ultra thin glass they use. But other than that I love it. They might be coming out with the Z flip 4 at the end of the year so if you can wait I'm pretty sure the next generation will be even better. 👍
I've used the BIA sensor taking it in the morning after bathroom, but before I eat. Arms always chest level and not touching my body, not hands (like Mortal Kombat). Measuring this way consistently, it is very accurate.
I can say the same. Idk about how close it is to what would actually show on a comercial BIA sensor, but the results I got so far by also measuring after bathroom and before eating (and drinking) are always reasonably close from the last and they tend to follow how much and how well I ate the day before and how much I exercised. I'd say it's very reasonable to track progress: even if the numbers aren't the right ones, their changes seem to be consistent
I pre ordered mine and when it arrived I loved it, after about 3 weeks noticed a nipping through the night where sensors are, ended up with a burn mark on my wrist, contacted Samsung who collected the watch and took it away for testing, tests came back clear so they not going to do anything and sending the watch back, disappointed in how they have handled things especially as I sent photos etc over
Is the watch 4 still viable in late 2023/2024? Im wanting to get onto smart watches. I dont need sport/health or any other frequent tracking features. I just want notification, time, and calendar stuff. I want the classic 4, but im dont want to end up with an obsolete "dumb" smart watch.
I was very disappointed with the battery life of the Galaxy Watch 4. Coming from a Active 2 that still lasts 2 1/2 days with continuous heart rate monitoring it was a let down for the only 40 hour rating. What makes it worse for me was with the same settings as my Active 2 I was only getting about 24-28 hours out of my watch. I know watches can't last forever but daily charging is so frustrating. Outside of battery, I think that the OS needs a bit more finish, I don't think Bixby should be included by default. I love the extra storage vs my old watch because I can keep a few spotify playlists locally and keep WIFI off. I also love the panel on the watch for managing the galaxy buds. However I wish they would add this for the Active 2.
Hi Mike, great content! Could you discuss the battery life of this device? It's been a concern of mine ever since my Fossil Gen 5 stopped being able to make it 12h between charges Thanks!
Hi, just to let you know I will be releasing my 1 month review in the next day or 2 where I'll talk about the battery too. Feel free to tune into that one :) TLDR: The battery on my 40mm GW4 is at about a day of usage between charges. This is significantly less when playing music from watch or a phone, but with general tracking, 1 day is the average, with approximately 1.7/8 days on the 44mm. I worry about the battery's performance in a years time, and really hope Samsung sorts something out before this.
I use mine daily with the media controls and messaging, plus general health tracking to complete my circle. My battery by the end of the day is usually around 74% so battery for me is not an issue. I actually love this watch. I had an active 2 before this.
@@digovicentini1 but true. That's why I'm confused as hell about what y'all are talking about. I also have adaptive brightness on and wheb using the media controls which is at least 7 hours a day, the screen stays on most of the time. The media controls are also way better than they used to be
First week review: galaxy watch 4 classic 42mm 1. battery runs only 24h with normal use, AOD on, wi-fi off, BT on. 2. AOD has two functions: it dimmer watch face after 15sec when dimmed... the second hand disappeared. 3. annoying apps that you can't uninstall: media control. controls volume of your smartphone. weather app bixby calendar ... 4. sometimes with AOD watch face dimmed and turn off. Its absurd because AOD is there to prevent that watch face turns off. Why do you need a black screen watch after all... 5. i turn sleep mode ON an then my sleep monitor only detected me asleep one hour later. I did sleep 7h but watch register only 6h. 6. watch faces tweak are very simple costumized...there is a few options to tweak... 7. the watch turns wi-fi ON even if i turn it OFF 8. beautiful design 9. love the rotating bezel 10. i would that samsung could made a watch that last 72h and with AOD without dimmer and with the second hand showing the seconds all the time.
That’s great in terms of battery lasting. My 42mm classic didn’t get over 15h, got overheating message from day1 and I have used it with default settings with aod off, Wi-Fi off. At least I could replace it so hopefully the new one will be better
@@oquefizhoje I have replaced yesterday the watch and the new one is by far better. Just Day1: 21h20m and 44% battery (AOD off, Wi-Fi off, BPM manually, brightness low, used sleep mode with Oxigen off). With the next charge I want to test it with BPM on and Oxigen On. On each day I want to use different settings. I already prepared a Google Sheet to note and compare it.
And for the rests are default settings, also I received notifications through the day. So I'm glad that I have replaced it. Another thing that I noticed was that the previous watch had a huge delay with Galaxy Wearable app which with the new watch it doesn't happen.
A major turn-off for me would be the battery life. Which I am still amazed about how little this is talked about. A maximum of 2 days battery life for around 250$ smartwatch is horrendous.
@@ThePrufessa lol So you're telling me that we should be content with shit battery? You do know that there are way better smartwatches with at least 7 days battery, right?
@@ZRay507 I'm not keeping anything on my body for more than a day or two (unless it's a medical device). And while I'm letting my wrist get a breather I can put it on the charger and juice up. Two days is plenty of time. Not sure why anyone would need anything to stay charged for seven whole days.
I know this is an older video but a few things for people watching it more currently. First thing, you said it doesn't have blood pressure monitoring, but it does and also ECG and to my knowledge it's the only watch in the world that does that and it only works with a Samsung phone. You also mentioned that Google assistant is not available on the four watch and it is now as of May 2022. A simple software update fixed that issue. You did mention the bezel, I hate it LOL, I have all these amazing faces from Facer and it drives me crazy that there's a thick black band around them. I probably should have bought the more traditional model to help hide that. It of course can also track your sleeping, if you snore, your blood oxygen levels while you sleep, the different stages of sleep including REM. It is definitely pretty high-tech.
Awesome content! Reason I'm watching this now is I'm still debating the GW4C vs GW5Pro in my head. Body temp sensor is gimmicky to me and I can live without the real/virtual rotating bezel, and battery autonomy that can cover a night's sleep is good enuf for me (I always charge after each GPS run anyway), so its now down to build materials. I'm also a trail runner so watch toughness is a plus. Currently I'm using the usual suspects (Garmin, Coros, Suunto, Polar), but my phone and earbuds are from Samsung, and it seems a GW is a logical next training watch for me. Your view? TQ
Well the only main difference between The classic and the pros are the Build quality(although a pretty big difference, sapphire vs glass & titanium vs stainless steel), battery, bezel and the biggest one; the price. You can get the classic for 100-150$ cheaper than the pro. At least in my place
I bought the 40mm classic LTE version. Battery life sucks, $15 a month for service. Other than that it's alright. Save your money, don't buy the LTE version.
Yes, I also has issues with this. I've come to really dislike Samsung's stuff because nothing ever seems to work well anymore, no matter what advice you take from all the videos telling you how awesome everything is and all the tips they give...nothing seems to actually work in the real world.
I too have had this watch for a month...boy did I feel dumb when you showed the digital bezel! I had no idea and missed the bezel from my S2. Haha thanks Mike!
I'm getting mine next week. In regards to the body index scan, I'll compare when I have it since my body is scanned every 4 weeks so I always have an accurate comparison.
@@jessieklein9448 Love the watch so far! I've been using it a lot. The body scan is about 5% off for me, the other features like steps/heartrate seem reasonably accurate.
@@PKyoshi im glad you like it a lot :) I've been thinking between Michael Kors gen 6 or gsw4. If they do mostly the same I'll probably go for the MK one as it's more feminine. Do you think they are a good competitor to eachother or is there a clear winner amongst the two.
I am currently debating returning my Watch 4 40mm LTE version. The battery life is the biggest problem. I had the watch just turn off mid phone call because of battery drain and it was at 50 percent before. So 20 mins phone call drains the watch 50 percent. What I miss most from the watch 2 is the bedtime mode turning on based on your sleep patterns. Please bring that back Samsung! :(
I have 2 annoyances with this watch. You can't touch and hold in Outlook to delete multiple emails and the weater complication on the watch face doesn't update regularly. Luckily both can and I hope will be fixed with updates.
The weather complication can be set to update regularly if you wish, just go to your phone wear app>app settings>weather> select how frequently you would like to update the weather. Hope this helps!
The fact that within 1 year it will sell at half price is a bummer..went ahead and bought gw3 classic at 60% discount. I know tizen is a goner but i need basic functionality of fitness tracking.
I found the GW3 to be better at basic tracking. The 4 classic sometimes cuts out when registering HR. Im hoping its just a bug, after a recent update its been improved but not 100% yet.
@@mixerman4541 battery life with the 40 inch is a day-ish. 44inch has almost twice the battery life, but was just too big for me. I had a Garmin watch before and it is similar to Fitbit (better quality though.) I'm sticking with Samsung. The fitness style watch is good and if money is an issue, there are more cheaper options. But, the Samsung watch has apps and can do *way* more. Garmin and Fitbit battery can last days... But, I'm okay with charging it more often for the sake of a significant amount of added features.
I am quite unhappy with the watch. Even when set to battery save mode and notifiications turned off, the battery dies within 24 hrs. Mine is going back to the manufacturer
Thanks, nice review but did I missed any comment about battery life? I have had the Classic for a couple of days and the battery barely makes it to the evening. Battery life is awful. The best I got was like little less than 1.5 days and that was with no connection to the phone so no notifications, all measurements off, location off, very low brightness etc. And even with all that off what the watch tells me being 100% charged is that battery will last 1d and 14h, not close to the at least 2 days expected. So if I want sleep analysis then can't charge it overnight, so in the morning but it takes like 2 hours. When could it be charged then? It has also "killed" my S21 battery life which by the way isn't nothing close to good compared to my iPhone13. In my case Samsung has always had very bad battery life, same for the S9 compared to iPhone of the same era.
Great review Mike! Very interested to hear how about the battery life, especially with the LTE version. Will you be doing a comparison to the Apple Watch 7? That would be great! Keep up the good work!
I have the 46mm classic LTE with the z flip 3. I found after almost 2 months that battery life is really tied to having the watch connected to the phone at all times. My use is typically 1 hour of music and exercise in morning using GPS also. With RUclips music this usually uses 30 - 33% of battery. One day I did not carry my phone with me and the battery on watch went completely dead after 10 1/2 hours. I do not use it for sleep and charge every night. Get up around 4:00AM, get coffee ready and turn on watch. While having coffee, check the news and whatever, the watch will typically drop power by about 6% per hour while disconnected from phone over Bluetooth. Did not matter if the phone was on and both connected to Wi-Fi. Bought the LTE version so I would not need to carry phone with me all the time, but battery life for me is really tied to having the phone with you at all times.
I live in Canada and I have the galaxy watch 4 classic. My watch does have the blood pressure monitoring. But it not right on. It is off by little bit when you do a blood pressure check with the watch and a actual blood pressure machine.
It is really just the shape of the bezel that I think degrades the touch bezel experience. It definitely still works and please keep in mind this is the smaller version. But yes, I like the touch bezel on the GWA2 better
I have the Galaxy Watch 3 Classic. I feel the regular sporty ones are closest relation to the apple watches. The classics are pretty cool, but slightly heavy, bulky, and easy to collide with other surfaces. It's also very slow and can be bloated easily. It's only fluid and smooth for like a few minutes before the RAM gets clogged up. Keep in mind I went from the Classic to the Classic 3 and I didn't see much of a difference.
Jaiye, I think you are talking about the previous samsung watches, there isn't a Watch3 classic. There is only the Galaxy Watch4 Classic and one of the older ones is The Galaxy Gear S3 Classic. Which are completely different.
The big boogie man he won't mention is the battery life there are other smart watches that work for 4 days with heavy use and this watch can barely do 1 day and the battery will get worse in time, for me this watch would be an more of inconvenience rather than an "smartwatch" if they don't improve Battery life with newer models I am not buying any galaxy or fossil watches.
Thank you Mike for the honest review, I'm not sure I want to buy this watch anymore, I can only hope as time goes that some of these issues are resolved by firmware updates.
I recently got it and the battery you have to at least charge it 2 to 3 times a day for it to hold up and it is not really worth it because i get phone calls on the watch but not on my phone so I'm not really sure what's going on 🤦🏻♀️
@@MayHirayama if I don't use it just to see the time then yeah but even then I put the not disturb and still doesn't last...I stopped using it but since I'm paying for it I'm stuck with it.
@@patyd7463 Sounds like a faulty unit. Mine with everything on (including AOD) got easily through a day an then some. I'd say at least 28h. Watch4 44mm I use it for calls too, charging 3 times a day sucesso.
Mike - great videos. Thanks a lot. I just got the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic after my Samsung Watch 3 started to show severe battery depreciation after seven intense years of usage, so not a bad run. The Watch 4 is an amazing difference. I was going to wait for the 5 but I could not live with the battery issues anymore. The Watch 4 is a giant leap forward, but then, you would expect that after 7 years. You refer to Google Pay, which I used a long time but I could not use it with the Watch 4. Samsung Pay is not really accepted over here (in the UK) but I combined it with a card called Curve. I can basically link Curve with any credit or debit card I want, making Samsung Pay usable with any card I want. Once you do that, Samsung Pay can be used anywhere and is really fantastic - as good as Google Pay if not better as far as I am concerned. Keep up the good work and hope this comment helps.
Are you talking about another watch, like the Gear S3? Because it's impossible to have 7 years of usage on Galaxy Watch3 that was just released like, 2 years ago.
I pre-ordered the watch and my battery life was not good. It was a lot of mess to return the watch and I was even going to be charge for my trade in. I was not happy with samsung at all. I was able to get a refund and they did return my traded with a few unhappy call. I was supposed to repurchase the watch for at the normal price and then be refunded for the pre order price but with the way they handled me even returning though Galaxy watch 4 I don't trust it which sucks because i really wanted this watch.
I have the same white/black extreme sport band paired with a black Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm. I love the fit and function of the band and it looks dope with a white and black watch face!
I bought my watch 4 August 2021 and thankfully it has google assistant AND BP Monitoring too although I haven't set up the BP monitoring yet. This is a fab one month update, thanks Mike. I have to say I love the Watch 4. It does everything I want from a Smartwatch and my only gripe is with the Body Composition as I fing having to hold the 2 buttons, and move the watch further up my arm a pain, especially as more often than not it takes a few times to complete the reading. That aside, I love this watch and would recommend one to anybody looking to buy a smart watch first time, or upgrade.
How's the battery life? Can you get through a day with AOD, notifications, bt, etc? And do you use its sleep tracking? If so, I imagine you don't charge it at night, when do you do so?
Thanks for this review Mike, I'm yet to receive the Watch4 as part of the pre-order offer for the S22 Ultra but looking at all the reviews on this makes me excited. The only Smartwatch I have used before was the Sony Smartwatch 2 (or 3, can't remember) and I really enjoyed it.
Samsung is investing alot in Bixby because it´s gonna be their smart-home-virtual assistant. Samsung is putting effort into building a one-in-all smart home solution, and that also includes a smart-virtual assistant :)
Love your videos. You get to the point, talk about your own likes and dislikes but also don't try and force it on the viewers like other channels love iPhone so they and get everyone else to like it. I'm a big Samsung fan and love the idea and style of the watch 4 but considering moving to the iphone 13 since my s8 is getting old now. Only issue is I don't like the look of the apple watch 😅 I'm only thinking of moving to apple because of the better battery life but again on your other video of the s21 you clicked me to look into them. Keep up the good work, amazing content on this channel.
Watch 4 is JUNK! DO NOT BUY! get the 3 or maybe the 5 I don't know about the 5 but the 4 is glitchy terrible battery life just not smooth. I switched back to my 3
for me when heart rate is tracked its really accurate. It cuts out really easily though on my classic model. So during a weight workout I might have 10 minutes in the middle where it doesnt register. Hopefully a software update fixes this. the bodyfat tracking has gotten much better as I've had it too. Overall its a fantastic watch just wish it was a little better during workouts.
I currently have the S3... And it's constantly cutting out during the workout. And it has no cardio feature 🙄 I feel like what's the point of upgrading if it hasn't gotten better
The health features are pretty inaccurate in all of Samsung's line. Minus step tracking which is a basic function. Which makes the watch useless and not worth the money.
It lasts just over 24 hours, right? I think it's because it's running what basically amounts to Android on a really bright, always on screen. If you turn some features off you can apparently get something like 48-60 hours of battery life.
Hey mike, very nicely covered all points! Can you suggest on below- I have small wrist and 42mm classic is perfect, but due to small screen want to upgrade to 46mm clsssic. Can you suggest which color won't make watch look bigger on my wrist, silver or black ?
I have the narrowest adult male wrist humanly possible and am never fond of wearing watches. Got the GW4 Classic as a gift and it works surprisingly well thanks to the silicon strap - the top and bottom part near the face will bulge to give the face visual balance and draw the attention away from the wrist. Try it on and you will see what I mean. Mine is black and that also helps IMO.
lousy accuracy fir steps, stairs, and sleep.. VERY disappointing. UPDATE: Costco had only Watch 5 in stock, but online a great price on Watch 4. But they assured me Watch 5 was much better! So i said i heard Watch 5 was not better. So as i shopped, i listened to RUclips reviews. EIGHT to be exact! Not one recommended Watch 5! I keot the 4 because it is generally helpful. Not a medical instrument, as it says over and over. It keeps good time. I love answering the phone on it!
Very good point on the watch strap size. I was disapointed when I ordered a leather version that didnt have the fish tail, and realised how small it looked.
I'm loving my new GW4 the blood pressure monitor works on mine in fact all the health features work hear in the UK was gutted that you could not put your own custom ringtone on it like you could the active 2 and the older versions but someone found a way to do it on Samsung members so I now have my own ringtones using the same song as my phone the stock ringtones are boring .Also using Alexa on my watch to turn off and on my smart lights etc .I have also lost weight using Samsung health 😘
Great video! I have been using the watch for 2 weeks now and I'm not a fan simply because the heart rate goes out on me all the time when working out. I get about 5 minutes in and it cuts out and takes forever to come back. I end up pausing in my workout to try and fix it, and no matter what I do it won't come back on. I'm not sure if I should return it or exchange it for another one. Even with the software updates, I'm having issues and I do rely on my watch quite a bit for zones when working out. I thought about going back to my polar chest strap but it feels like overkill a little bit when the watch is suppose to do it.
I have the exact same issue when I do CrossFit. Only measures the heart rate for the first few minutes, and then cuts out. I find that if I stop the workout and start a new one, it works, but cuts out again. I sometimes have to restart the watch to get a measurent. Really annoyed with this watch. Definitely won't recommend it if you like to track fitness. I hope they fix this soon.
I've been using a gear s3 for years and it had the same issues. So unfortunately I wouldn't expect Samsung to suddenly fix it on the gw4. I've found that the more extreme the workout movements the more often it does it. But also found that if I stop and take a separate heart rate measurement (while the workout is still going) it finds it again
I have the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic now a month and a love it so much. But the Fossil Gen 6 would be my alternative, if the GW4 would not exists. These are really the most beautiful, stylish and noble smartwatches on earth. They are not only smart, they are Jewellery on your wrist. We will never understand how someone really can use the most ugly smartwatch on earth, the apple watch. It simply looks ugly and cheap!!!
id love to pay using my watch.. but then the watch has a password on it, so every time I want to do anything on my watch i have to put a password in.. drives me crazy
I have had it for over a week. Finally I found the face i wanted, was disappointed about the blood pressure, but recovered, and I am overall satisfied, except for 2 things: 1) it dims the display whenever i lower my wrist, or after 1 minute lockscreen time, and I cant disable that; and 2) I find the heart monitor somewhat different (erraticly stops registering in the middle of a workout) to my GW3 monitor, which ran flawlessly. Great video. And great watch, notwithstanding!
@@jhenshaw102 Yes. Actually the AOM was one of the first settings i enabled. However, i cant disable the screen timeout and the dimming and freezing of the screen that happens when the screen times out, which happens after 1 minute of inactivity max or when i lower my arm to the side), and is annoying during a workout. Thank you for your reply! I hope it can be fixed in future upgrades!
It should be pretty easy for them to add. They may have left prevented it on account of battery life claims. Similarly, I'm hoping that they add a sensitivity adjustment for Raise Wrist to Wake feature so my watch doesn't turn on every time I move.
If the watch wouldn't dim after a while with Always On, it would really hurt your battery life and cause permanent screen burn-in a lot sooner than it otherwise would.
I've had one since launch. I needs to be charged once a day. It's getting annoying and I'm feeling a bit of buyer's remorse. It's nice to be able to go for a run and leave the phone at home and still be able to track with GPS and listen to Spotify, other than that I feel a fitness tracker for a fraction of the price with better battery life would have been the better choice for me.
@@ZeratulDenis For a Galaxy Watch 4? Yes, definitely. It's a great smart watch. My only issue with it has been battery life. If your okay with charging once per 24 hours, go get it for that price. (I've also had some minor issues with heart rate tracking being a bit spotty at times, but it mostly works fine. )
@@thatbants7134 it is a cool watch imo, but at the same time is just something you would buy because you want to, and not because you need to. There are only 2 things that really are unique to the watch. And those are: being able to call or answer phone calls when your phone is charging, and measuring your steps/ exercise. The sleep part is ok,but not as accurate as you might think( there is a nice video online that proves how accurate is the watch),it is cool,i still use it and i like that feature but sometimes the values are just a bit off.. like: if you wake up but stay in bad,no matter if you're usinf the phone or the watch,it will still think that you're sleeping. Compared to rhe apple watch Is it worth it? Yes because of the price, but i think the apple watch is a lot more accurate(never had one) Is it cool? Yes, very cool. Do i use it and its features even tho they are not the most accurate? Yes of course. At the price i got it (150€) it is a good choice, because you can get this,or the Fitbit,or somethinf like an amazfit or a huawei watch, and those lack lots of features. Is it worth 200/300€? Not in my opinion, the thing with this watch is that is feels premium,it is very beautiful, and is kinda good at everything, but not perfect at any of that. Maybe the technology needs some more years to be more accurate and to be perfected, but for now i wouldnt spend the money i would spend on a phone to buy a watch. And remember, if you buy a watch like this is because you are too lazy to grab you're phone from the pocket, that is was i was tellinf myself ahah😂😂
Setting a time for theater mode is something Xiaomi does really well, you can set a timer for DND right in the volume UI that appears when you change volume
Got the Watch4 from my mum because she said the battery is weak. And I can confirm. Turned everything off, heart monitor, Bluetooth, internet, everything. Still from 8Am to 6Pm it got down to 50% (Always on display off). It's 6 months old, I'm a tech guy and can say there is definitely something wrong with it. I'll be in touch with Samsung
do you not sleep? i don't understand why people get so disappointed with smart watches not lasting like 7 weeks for them. just plug it in at night. thats all i need or care for and don't understand what thats something people critique.
@@amshaq007CR7hmm fair point i suppose but sleep tracking costs extremely little battery with my experience. personally i lost interest in it very quickly but if youre really into it then i could understand
12:30 Exactly! Use it together w pro devices if that's a requirement, because let's be honest, if someone is discouraged from working out bc a little non pro health gadget gave him/her inaccurate readings, then that person has never been serious about working out anyway.
I think the problem of this watch and also Apple watch is the battery!!! When I want to go for a long way hiking, it drains quickly due using GPS!!! This should be solved in the next version of those watches. At least, it should last one week, I think so!!
The GW4 actually says that people should try to always have the same posture when doing BIA measurements because that's an unavoidable factor on every BIA.. The system isn't perfect but the best that can be offered.
Yeah, I thought that was common knowledge because I even stand in the same way while taking weight measurements so obviously these BIA or BP measurements need to be in the same exact position. But it's good that he pointed that out to let more people know that you need to be in the same position
Great video! I actually live in the US and have bp and ecg monitoring....there's a workaround and is very easy to do, works like a charm 😊 I have the GW4 classic. If anyone is interested I'll provide the RUclips link
Thanks for the great in-depth review. I surprised, it sounded like you had a disappointing description of Samsung pay (?). Honestly, I think Samsung pay is the best of the group, even over Apple Pay. The nfc allows the feature to be used on almost any credit card machine out there, I'm a big fan. I have the first Galaxy watch, still works great, but ready for new (and smaller than 46mm). Sounds like the galaxy 4 is the way to go. Thanks again!
I don't dislike Samsung pay. It definitely gets the job done. I wish they kept mst pay, but my main reason for talking about Google way was for non Samsung Android users. It's nice to only need one payment app. It's also nice if that app is the native one on your phone
@@MikeOBrienMedia It's easy to forget not everyone has the device you (In this case "I") have, I usually call out Apple users for this, and here I did it LOL.
@@MCOGroupNews Unfortunately they have. People think its an irrelevant technology but I still use it everyday with my phone. NFC machines are not as common yet. I cover mid-atlantic and New England territories for my company and am always on the road. I assure you, NFC card readers are still few and far between (mostly popular in cities). MST gives me that freedom to use my phone everywhere, regardless of the card reader equipment in the store. The MST technology doesn't take up a lot of space in the devices so its unfortunate that Samsung has chosen to get rid of a tech that gave them such an edge over the competition (and its not like they filled that space with a bigger battery or something). In my additional experience with Google pay (also on my phone and watch) and my wife's experience with Apple pay, we both agree that Samsung pay has always been the best by a mile, and a big part of that was due to MST. It's always a shame when companies get rid of superior tech.
In short: not worth the hype. I send mine back. Google Wear OS is still super heavy on the battery performance, heavily depended on Samsung apps, Bixby assistant, slow non-qi wireless charging, not that many apps in the playstore as on apple watch, only 16gb of storage (apple watch is 32gb) overall it's hard to recommend unless you're planning to stick with Samsung forever, which I'm sure most of you will not. Apple watch 7 is king.
if only the apple watched worked fully with android...... I dont think this is a fair comment. Yes the apple watch is overall better, but you can only use half the functions with an android phone if that at all. If you ahve an android phone, the apple watch is a terrible choice
So what are your thoughts on the GW4 and GW4 Classic?
Used it since it was out. Surprisingly, it's my new favourite smartwatch. The bezel on the classic is a stress reducer. They actually add something I've been asking for sometime, the internet browser. It's still janky but keep the feature coming Samsung. Wear OS future doesn't look so cloudy after all, huh.
I love it very much. This watch is perfect for me
I noticed you didn't talk about battery. How has it been after using it for a month?
That startup lag annoys me too. Also, digital bezel works OK after the last update. Battery life should be better.
I don't have the start up lag because my gs4 never dies. I charge it every night. I am down to 30% because I use everything. Live Screen with AOD and 75% battery and fitness tracking does that.
Really like your content, especially since it's more real life-use oriented! Keep it up!
So glad you liked it. Thanks for your nice feedback

*************
So there!
The features do not work properly and accurately, and I don't really use it so I just wasted $400 on this watch.
thank u
@@guptaji9026 inaccurate workout and sleep tracking are deal breakers-those are two of the main things a wearable should get right
Hopefully, software updates will fix this issues.
Got the green 44mm....new to smart watches....love mines!!!
To be really useful a way mst be found to improve battery life
The voicemail notification when there's no voicemail is really really annoying. Besides that....I haven't had any issues with it. Did I say how annoying that glitch is?
Nice video so far
Wow you got here fast!
bro, im goint to buy active 2 in 20221? do you think worth it? watch 4 battery horrible
does it track blood oxygen levels? the last fitbit i bought was marketed with it and the feature was never released, i read somewhere that this one has it. Nice review by the way :)
It tracks blood oxygen, blood pressure, ecg, heart rate and body composition, been using it for a month and i already like it more than Apple :)
Boss, if you want accurate body compensation you have to do it only in the morning before you drink water or have breakfast. If you drink glass of water, result will be different immediately. Also you should take off any metal like ecklace or anything, in order to have better accuracy.
Funny, I always weigh myself only in the morning. Never thought to check body comp only in the morning too.
It's also just not very accurate, doing everything how you should there was a 3% difference between what my bf percentage actually was and what it was on the watch which is a large amount of bf
I drink water every night before i go to bed. Will that still affect my results?
@@smoochfa973 no I don't think so

Thanks 👍!
Just ordered my GW4 and Z Flip 3! I'm stoked!
how has the flip 3 worked for you so far? been super curious to get one but the negative reviews about the screen cracking out of nowhere are making me doubt me purchasing it.
@Savannah Flip is a Flop too overpriced too fragile too lacking all just to fit in your pocket easier
For me this is the most beautiful Samsung smartwatch I have seen. These guys are indeed creative.
I've used the BIA sensor taking it in the morning after bathroom, but before I eat. Arms always chest level and not touching my body, not hands (like Mortal Kombat). Measuring this way consistently, it is very accurate.
I've had luck getting the same results in bf%. My arms are not always level etc though. Will keep an eye on the other stats now though.
I can say the same. Idk about how close it is to what would actually show on a comercial BIA sensor, but the results I got so far by also measuring after bathroom and before eating (and drinking) are always reasonably close from the last and they tend to follow how much and how well I ate the day before and how much I exercised. I'd say it's very reasonable to track progress: even if the numbers aren't the right ones, their changes seem to be consistent
outside of fitness tracking, I don't think I'm too crazy about smart watches
Same here that's why I will just buy a fitness band
I missed some emergency calls from my pregnant wife at work. She said I need to get one so that doesn't happen again.

Same here. I'm still a traditional watch type of guy.
I pre ordered mine and when it arrived I loved it, after about 3 weeks noticed a nipping through the night where sensors are, ended up with a burn mark on my wrist, contacted Samsung who collected the watch and took it away for testing, tests came back clear so they not going to do anything and sending the watch back, disappointed in how they have handled things especially as I sent photos etc over
any updates? i too kind of felt like burning sensation while using mine.
Can you explain what you mean by the panel for galaxy buds? I just bought Buds 2 Pro but haven't received.
Hi Mike, great content!
Could you discuss the battery life of this device?
It's been a concern of mine ever since my Fossil Gen 5 stopped being able to make it 12h between charges
Thanks!
Hi, just to let you know I will be releasing my 1 month review in the next day or 2 where I'll talk about the battery too. Feel free to tune into that one :)
TLDR: The battery on my 40mm GW4 is at about a day of usage between charges. This is significantly less when playing music from watch or a phone, but with general tracking, 1 day is the average, with approximately 1.7/8 days on the 44mm. I worry about the battery's performance in a years time, and really hope Samsung sorts something out before this.
Wow.... My Micheal Kors gen 2 worked for 3 years with 24 hours
The media controls are also way better than they used to be
Great battery life for me also.
No battery issue at all as well and battert time has more longer than my watch3. And loving to wear watch4 daily. :)
I feel like mine goes fast with the battery %....do you turn off the Wifi etc??

You are stunningly beautiful
In the uk we have blood pressure monitoring on the galaxy watch 4’s.
First week review:
galaxy watch 4 classic 42mm
1. battery runs only 24h with normal use, AOD on, wi-fi off, BT on.
2. AOD has two functions:
it dimmer watch face after 15sec
when dimmed... the second hand disappeared.
3. annoying apps that you can't uninstall:
media control. controls volume of your smartphone.
weather app
bixby
calendar
...
4. sometimes with AOD watch face dimmed and turn off.
7. the watch turns wi-fi ON even if i turn it OFF
8. beautiful design
9. love the rotating bezel
10. i would that samsung could made a watch that last 72h and with AOD without dimmer and with the second hand showing the seconds all the time.
That’s great in terms of battery lasting. My 42mm classic didn’t get over 15h, got overheating message from day1 and I have used it with default settings with aod off, Wi-Fi off. At least I could replace it so hopefully the new one will be better
@@ElenaPirosca Don't forget to post a followup when you receive your new GW4 replacement.
@@oquefizhoje I have replaced yesterday the watch and the new one is by far better.
@@ElenaPirosca Well, you really had a bad lucky on your purchase. The best os the brandname watch is recognized that the previous one is faulty.
A major turn-off for me would be the battery life. Which I am still amazed about how little this is talked about.

The Apple watch has the same battery for more than four hundred... Without some different tech on the screen it is hard to get more than 2 days.
You're complaining about your watch battery lasting for 2 whole days?! My goodness some people complain over the dumbest shit.

I am currently debating returning my Watch 4 40mm LTE version. The battery life is the biggest problem. I had the watch just turn off mid phone call because of battery drain and it was at 50 percent before. So 20 mins phone call drains the watch 50 percent.

Thanks for the review!
I'll stick to the active 2 :b
I may make a comparison with the AW7. I haven't decided yet
@@MikeOBrienMedia I would love to see this comparison and I'm sure many others would too. Great work Mike, keep it up.
Battery life is about 12 h. If using lte it’s dramatically less.

I have the Galaxy Watch 3 Classic. I feel the regular sporty ones are closest relation to the apple watches. The classics are pretty cool, but slightly heavy, bulky, and easy to collide with other surfaces. It's also very slow and can be bloated easily. I recently got it and the battery you have to at least charge it 2 to 3 times a day for it to hold up and it is not really worth it because i get phone calls on the watch but not on my phone so I'm not really sure what's going on 🤦🏻♀️
This watch is very good compared to the past models, if you're too picky you'll have a hard time getting the perfect watch.
@@patyd7463 damn, I only charge once and sometimes get a day and a little more, but usually around a day.
Watch4 44mm
I use it for calls too, charging 3 times a day sucesso.
i think it is complete failure towards battery life.
i bought it and regret it, turned back to my Honor GS pro Enjoying 25days of battery life.
@@JeremyJeikaHunt I meant the S3. My apologies. Whatever the lead Samsung watch was in 2015.
@@JeremyJeikaHunt lol, thinking what i have read as well
I pre-ordered the watch and my battery life was not good.
I have charged it to 100%
I bought my watch 4 August 2021 and thankfully it has google assistant AND BP Monitoring too although I haven't set up the BP monitoring yet.
The first thing (most) people want to hear about is battery life. Come on mate.
Whatever you do do not switch to an iPhone. I’ve regretted it since having this iPhone 12 Pro Max 😩😩
@@LAZEitup why's that?
Watch 4 is JUNK! DO NOT BUY! get the 3 or maybe the 5 I don't know about the 5 but the 4 is glitchy terrible battery life just not smooth. I switched back to my 3
I have watch 4 and 5 LTE and i can tell you that battery has not improved a bit in 5 also and about glitch i didn't see one in watch 4 👍
for me when heart rate is tracked its really accurate.
Does the classic version feels heavy for running or exercise in general?
@@NoamSarusi no. I've got the 46mm classic and it feels light
Tried the Galaxy 4 watch but I still prefer the Apple Watch more overall
Same, for ten minutes, it doesn’t track
I currently have the S3... And it's constantly cutting out during the workout. And it has no cardio feature 🙄
I feel like what's the point of upgrading if it hasn't gotten better
Hey Mike! Great video! Was wondering what microphone you use to record your voice?
The health features are pretty inaccurate in all of Samsung's line. Minus step tracking which is a basic function. Which makes the watch useless and not worth the money.
That's true if you're buying it for health tracking. However, some people buy smart watches just because they think they're cool.
Just got mine $135 figured that was a good price...BUT THE BATTERY TOTALLY SUCKS... HORRIBLE
It lasts just over 24 hours, right? I think it's because it's running what basically amounts to Android on a really bright, always on screen. If you turn some features off you can apparently get something like 48-60 hours of battery life.
Hey mike, very nicely covered all points! Can you suggest on below-
I have small wrist and 42mm classic is perfect, but due to small screen want to upgrade to 46mm clsssic.
Fossil gen 6 vs galaxy watch 4
Which one is better ?
I'm loving my new GW4 the blood pressure monitor works on mine in fact all the health features work hear in the UK was gutted that you could not put your own custom ringtone on it like you could the active 2 and the older versions but someone found a way to do it on Samsung members so I now have my own ringtones using the same song as my phone the stock ringtones are boring .Also using Alexa on my watch to turn off and on my smart lights etc .I have also lost weight using Samsung health 😘
Hi, which size of classic did you have? Trying to figure out if I should get 46 or 42mm. You and I appear to have similar arm width.
Main problem would definitely be battery life of around 1 day, max at 1.5 day. It's competitors provide around 1 week's battery.
It's so annoying 😒
I have had it for over a week. Finally I found the face i wanted, was disappointed about the blood pressure, but recovered, and I am overall satisfied, except for 2 things: 1) it dims the display whenever i lower my wrist, or after 1 minute lockscreen time, and I cant disable that; and 2) I find the heart monitor somewhat different (erraticly stops registering in the middle of a workout) to my GW3 monitor, which ran flawlessly. Great video. And great watch, notwithstanding!
Are you looking for something other than the "Always On" mode?
Mine died overnight... just got it back from the repair shop. They had to replace the 3 month old battery 😳
But... the repair was quick and free 👍
Do u think that for 150€/$ is worth it?
@@ZeratulDenis For a Galaxy Watch 4? Yes, definitely. It's a great smart watch. My only issue with it has been battery life. If your okay with charging once per 24 hours, go get it for that price. (I've also had some minor issues with heart rate tracking being a bit spotty at times, but it mostly works fine. )
@@SgtYngve wow, thanks a lot for the quick reply! Yes i've bought the 40 mm watch, hope it suits me well
@@ZeratulDenis and, was it worth it?
Yes because of the price, but i think the apple watch is a lot more accurate(never had one)
Is it cool?
I just got my Classic 4 yesterday mainly because my active 2 was not G Pay capable, and what do you know G Pay is not working won't add my card
Great video bro! The battery life was a let down for me 2 days is just not enough
do you not sleep? i don't understand why people get so disappointed with smart watches not lasting like 7 weeks for them. just plug it in at night. thats all i need or care for and don't understand what thats something people critique.
unless you're a serious hiker
@@Alex-sx6ps what about sleep tracking ?
@@amshaq007CR7hmm fair point i suppose but sleep tracking costs extremely little battery with my experience. personally i lost interest in it very quickly but if youre really into it then i could understand
@@Alex-sx6ps it's strange with the GW4 in that sleep tracking takes a LOT of battery compare to what you would expect.
New to smartwatches, is it still worth it getting the galaxy 4 or should I go for the new galaxy 5?
go for it, watch5 has the exact same processor and ram, and mostly the same battery. but you can get the galaxy watch4 for half of the price.
Give us the RUclips link , please.
@@ozetun don't think you're getting it...
Google assistant is already there with the latest update 😀
For me, Strava is unusable on the Watch 4. It stops recording halfway and then doest restart so I lose 70-90 percent of my rides. Very frustrating
@Mike O'Brien
I just order Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
I wish everything works fine and not having any kind of problems.
:)
I thought they got rid of MST with these watches/their latest devices so this is irrelevant now, isn't it?
A reminder, a Samsung phone is required for body composition function.
