@Ralph Reilly I'd love to know if you found a way to disable the screen turning off immediately when your wrist is at 90 degrees. option 1. turn on aod, which is too dim to use outdoors (GW4 removed the feature to keep full brightness with aod during workouts). option 2. make an exaggerated raise to wake gesture (but like mentioned, this does not work well, and is much more difficult to do while jogging).

Its been 5 days since I've bought the galaxy watch 4 44 mm but I love this smart watch and it does so many good features and but something that needs to be improved is google assistant and the fact that its not up to date just yet
First, let me say thank you for an excellent video. You covered every important aspect of the watch features. In other words, the information you provided was extremely thorough and to the point. Your video provided me with enough information to now make my purchase. Unfortunately the watch does not have a long battery life but neither did my Fitbit with far less functionality. I will definitely subscribe to your channel.
I'm on my third galaxy watch 4 classic already since launch. I've had the 42mm burn me and kept overheating. Then tried 46mm that kept overheating now on my 3rd watch another 46mm fingers cross it doesn't start overheating. Great features on it just hope it doesn't play up again.
Im on my 2nd Watch4 and I faced the following issues on both: 1. Screen Touch Delay 2. Bixby Fails the First Time 3. Battery Acts Weird 4. Watchface Info Slight Delay 5. Slight Delay Before Scrolling Through Apps 6. Unreliable Workout Bezel Scroll 7. Workout Rest Timer Doesnt Go Off When Screen is Off 8. Bezel Scrolling in Main Screen Sometimes Fails I need to know if youre facing these issues as well cuz this is an absolute disappointment.
@@edsonreyes7204 I only face overheating and watch constantly going into cooling mode. Not all the issues you faced. This was on watch 4 classic 42mm and 46mm. What the hell, 3rd watch? I would've given up after the 1st try. I've only had the 42mm for 2 days and the only issue besides the buggy setup is a little bit of lag after booting it up or when watching videos on the browser.
I've got the larger 44 mm Watch 4 and battery life here is pretty solid. Clocking about 36 hours easy. I generally don't use AOD though, but I don't do anything to curb my use intentionally
@@heibaimao I think Samsung dropped the ball by crippling the smaller models. I started with a open-box 40mm and it had battery and heating issues immediately. Returned it for 44mm model open-box and it's been smooth sailing.
@Sir Soma I've been using it all day and for sleep tracking through the night then charging in the morning every day since I got it. One day I forgot to charge it the next morning after a day of use and a night of sleep tracking and still had 25% battery left at noon. If you're only getting 7 hours with the 44mm GW4 you may want to get a replacement
@Sir Soma that's for sure a defective model. I leave everything on except always on display. Heart rate monitoring set to every 10 min, auto brightness, all notifications coming in, and I work out a few times a week.
Anybody have overheating issues? Ive had MANY people return or complain about it shutting off due to overheating and that battery only lasts 2 hours... =/
Great review as always Chris. I've just got the 44mm watch 4 and the S21 Ultra and they work brilliantly together. My bank isn't supported by samsung pay so I'm double taping the top button for google pay. Battery life is brilliant on the bigger watch and so much better than the series 6 biggest apple watch I was using with iPhone 12. Work out tracking is brilliant at the gym and works well with vitality health. 🍻 cheers
I bought one of these the other day and I really like it. It links with my A535G instantly and does everything I need it do do but the battery life isn't great. I have to charge it up every 2 days but the watch offers so much it is well worth the money.
Hello friend! I have the continuous heart rate measurement option turned on, but when I'm at rest the sensor lights go out, is that normal? Or do they have to blink the beat all the time even though it's at rest? Unless it's automatic by the watch to save battery.
Wow! Thank you so much. Fist review I see. I really was hoping someday this watches became smaller... I have a kids size wrist and am a lil aggressive that I'll break them easily if bulky. Which it already happened 😅
Great balanced review Chris, thanks 👏 I've got the Galaxy Watch (2018) which I still love. Just can't see what the reason would be to upgrade to the GW4? There are no stand out features that I can see, that I don't already have?
My friend, stick to your 2018 Watch since you won't find anything good as it is. I have both 2018 Watch and Watch 3. Watch 3 barely survive the whole day. But my 2018 Watch is still on 75% at night.
I love my galaxy watch too but at&t emailed me that they are getting rid of 3g that the watch runs on and would be sending me a free galaxy watch 4 to replace it due to the galaxy watch not working anymore after Feb 2022 😥

How has the black case held up? Concerned about scratches showing silver. I know I can avoid this by buying the silver case, but really like the black.
Looks good but the battery life is a show stopper in my opinion. Having yet another thing to charge every day is just a pain. Hybrid smart watches like the Garmin Vivomove series is a good alternative
I have the classic 46mm Bluetooth. It's been a good watch so far. I have been getting almost 2 full days out of mine. But be mindful of what watch face you use as some use more power. I also have the tic watch pro 3 and love them both . Tks for the review review
@@lukario7173 I have thought about this a lot. Samsung is a better watch in a lot of ways. But a lot of it is because of the software. I also would say for fitness it is better. Now the ticwatch is better looking in my opinion and more comfortable to wear. Battery on pro 3 is way better than GW4 and it is almost half the price if you find it on sale. And the GW4 is not twice as good as the ticwatch. So to me if you have the money get the samsung but if you don't get the ticwatch or get both...lol. And remember the ticwatch will be getting the new wear os software next year as well. So my point is they are both very good but depends what you want the watch for. Hope this helps you decide.
Hiya hope your well, I've just ordered the Galaxy 4. Glimpsing the loads of apps on your watch do you have the option to delete some of the apps that you may decide you won't need, in order to preserve the watch's battery life? Like you would do on a phone.
Great review. I am going to get this watch today. Great that Samsung kept the loudspeaker in thus watch. I used to have the Samsung Galaxy watch active and it sis not even have a speaker yet the next one did have a speaker? Weird how Samsung did not have the speaker inbuilt with the Samsung Galaxy watch active?
One HUGE feature Missing from the Samsung Watch 4 is the DISCONNECT ALERT. My Active 2 Watch would Alert (Audible & Vibration) me when it lost connection with my Samsung Phone. This is a VERY USEFUL feature that prevented me from accidentally leaving my phone somewhere.
Well I didn't have time 🙃 to review before the wifey sprung it on me so today is my first full day of the watch so far so good and thanks for the review it shed se light on things 😊
Is Bixby stuck on all international versions as well? I thought finally I would buy a Samsung smartwatch now it has android wear, but this turns me off.
I have the smaller non classic one which I use to track activities and wear out, it's much lighter and less noticeable on your wrist than Apple watches or other smart wristwatches I've used, needs a software update though to show photos on it etc rather than having to open the phone as much
Why do you want your watch to be less noticeable? I agree the apple watch is ugly but if you're getting a watch then you should get one that attracts attention like the galaxy classic.
I have the watch active 2, it has this feature to up the touch sensivity (which i have turned off btw), seeing you talk about its responsiveness, did they remove that on the watch 4?
If you have a oneplus 8 pro, will this watch be worth it? I want this or the fossil gen 6, i like this a bit more tho. But how about compatability? Thanks in Advance guys.
Compatibility wise, you're not going to be missing a lot if you have a oneplus.....of course if you have samsung then it will work best but if you are fine with not having seamless pairing in the start, and a couple tracking features in s health then it should be a great watch....
Can you use this watch if you only have one arm. I do have a touch screen watch that I can use, but not too sure if this one is for me. Can I ask that some of you try it and let me know please?
I still have the original Galaxy watch (have had it for 2 years now) and I'm just now realizing that I can scroll through the apps with the black edge 😂
I have the 44m standard because I liked the look more than the classic. I've had no problems with battery. I find I can charge it just before bed while I'm having a shower and settling down, then top up in the morning while I shower and get ready. I don't have always on display because I find the wrist wake up works OK. I don't play music from the watch because I play it from my S10+, although I do use the watch to control the playback for skipping, rewinding and pausing. I am very impressed with it although navigating watch faces to download is trickier. So much crud out there filled with ads and in app purchases. Give Tizen its due, there were lots of top notch watch faces for free.
Do you have the LTE or BT version? I'm looking at getting one and although I have a smaller wrist and rather the 40mm I feel like getting the 44mm for the extra battery life. Just hope it doesn't look to big. My wrist is like 6.7". Most people say 7" wrist a 44mm would be fine.
@@IC3DR460N I have the Bluetooth version. I won't use the watch to make calls. If you order from Samsung you can always send it back. If you have Samsung store nearby then you can try it for size first. I found the larger Watch 3 with the bezel to be quite chunky. The W4 is way more streamlined.
In Poland orienteering is more and more popular! We have not only short distances, but also marathons (routes longer than 50km!). It is so much fun :D The question is if the battery will last :P
Howdy! I work as a coach and I'm looking to buy the watch 4, as I would really appreciate having the ECG functionality. Will the battery last at least a full day if I'm tracking sports activity for 4-5 hours a day? I don't need GPS, music, always on display etc, but if the watch dies while I'm still working that would be a deal breaker for me.
I’m changing from 12 Pro Max and Apple Watch 6 to Google Pixel 6 Pro. Doesn’t look like there’s going to be a Pixel watch next week, so the Samsung 4 might have to be my option. It’s an aluminium case I believe, I know the Apple Watch contains Nickel to which I’m allergic, so I’ve had to put a full case on it as it hurt my skin. Is there any way of finding out if the Samsung 4 has Nickel in the casing please? Thanks 🙏🏻 🙂🇬🇧
I'll stick to my Huawei GT2 with two weeks battery life without AOD and 7 days with it. The shortest battery life I have is 6 to 7 days with everything activated and maxed out. Real time heartbeat detection, sleep tracking, stress measurement, AOD, notifications, phone calls, etc. Not being able to track your sleep because the battery will die during the night is a joke. Same with the Apple watch. Everyone I know that have one quit using it after a while. Too much hassle charging it every day. They will never buy another smartwatch ever again. I understand them.
The thing I find difficult is that I'm not necessarily looking for a health tracker. I want a smartwatch first, health tracking is bonus stuff to me. So that considered, I'll never understand some reviews I saw saying that the battery life is not a deal breaker. I mean, WTF??? It totally is! I currently still get about a week from my old trusty Pebble Time Steel (PTS) on a single charge. A years old device with old tech inside. So 40 hours battery life is HORRIBLE to me for a smartwatch. Funny thing is I'm still looking for a newer device to eventually replace my PTS, and I can't believe nothing still really compare to it after all these years (although some came close, but not close enough IMO). Battery life DOES matter.
@@sebastiennoiseux5359 As far as smartwatches go, nothing beats the Huawei for battery life. You will also be very happy with the Garmin Endurance Solar. One year battery life in battery saving mode and a full month in smartwatch mode. Smartwatch wise, the functionality is on par with the Huawei, which lets face it is not very good (not being able to reply to messages from the watch neing the most obvious one).

Same here, around 1.5 days. And I agree on the app support. I was a bit disappointed when I opened up Play Store the first time. Wish we could access Galaxy Store. I love it though☺
I upgraded to the gw4 40mm from the fitbit blaze, at first it was good u can answer calls and send texts, and use features such as nfc on it, but samsung are more gimmicky imo, they add features like body comp in without making sure the most important features are as accurate as they can be, especially ive noticed with stress and sleep tracking, I'll wake up and my phone will still be listening for me snoring and the watch still counts sleep until i click on the samsung health app to stop it, and sonetimes u can wake up and fall back to sleep and it doesnt count the 2nd sleep, and stress is all over the place, it says im stressed when im doing nothing but ik fine when excersizing
In my own experience it's not usable. My 40mm watch (LTE) can only last 1 to 2 hours when I open the Komoot app for biking! Not to say the watch becomes unbearably hot every time. It does last longer with default activities tracking but still well below 1 day.
I have the GW4C 46mm LTE. Battery life is a bust. Overheating also occasionally happens. Still a good watch but not great. If Ticwatch Pro 3 LTE would've been available in my region I wouldn't have even considered this watch. Still waiting on Google assistant to see if wear os 3 finally fixes reminders.
Hey Chris. As an Advid lover of my GTR2 due to the battery life (and G-Fit sync capabilities) - do you think this is a worth 'upgrade'/swap over? Im a pixel user and a google-head for everything else. whats your thoughts on weighing up the two against each other as a gym goer?

@philtrundle all carriers in Australia charge $5 extra per month to be able to extend your mobile number to your LTE watch, so you can use the 4G network direct from your watch, for calls and data.
Great review and as an American, I love to hear your slang!
Could you pleaseee tell me how to set that face at 2:56, I am begging you.
Super video, and super funny, thank you! Educating and entertaining at the same time.
Its been 5 days since I've bought the galaxy watch 4 44 mm but I love this smart watch and it does so many good features and but something that needs to be improved is google assistant and the fact that its not up to date just yet
Hi, i like the 44mm model but i don't know about the size. It is big? I have a 16 cm wrist
@@mangjuuzou7823 I think it's the same size as the 40mm and it'll fit the same bands as the 40mm version 20mm straps or bands will fit perfect.
@@mangjuuzou7823 I have a wrist size of 20cm and its big but its still wearable:) but it might be a bit too big for u!
@@mangjuuzou7823 you buy 20mm bands so it fits perfectly regardless
Need this no phone lasts 8 hours that that's bullshit even the tests are lies mostly likely get 5 hours on full brightness
Im on my 2nd Watch4 and I faced the following issues on both:
1. Screen Touch Delay
2. Bixby Fails the First Time
3. Battery Acts Weird
4. Watchface Info Slight Delay
5. Slight Delay Before Scrolling Through Apps
6. Unreliable Workout Bezel Scroll
7. Workout Rest Timer Doesnt Go Off When Screen is Off
8. Bezel Scrolling in Main Screen Sometimes Fails
I need to know if youre facing these issues as well cuz this is an absolute disappointment.
@@edsonreyes7204 I only face overheating and watch constantly going into cooling mode. Not all the issues you faced. This was on watch 4 classic 42mm and 46mm. Samsung couldn't resolve these issues so my phone provider kept replacing it as it kept happening within 2 weeks of having the watch. Highly disappointing.
@@feebimontaque7837 I'll just stick with my Active2 for now and probably wait a month for them to update the watch so I can buy it again (or just buy a new Active2🤷🏻♂️)
I have small wrist would prefer the 40mm but 44mm should have better battery life..
@Sir Soma and that's bearing in mind that I rarely ever charge to 100% because I lack the patience
🍻 cheers
My Gear S3 works just fine but I think I'll be grabbing this one in the next few days--after I watch a few more reviews.
How's the battery life?
I bought one of these the other day and I really like it. It links with my A535G instantly and does everything I need it do do but the battery life isn't great. I have to charge it up every 2 days but the watch offers so much it is well worth the money.
2 days is GREAT. Lol you want more? Some ppl aren't even getting 24 hours. Idk how though.
Hello friend!
I have the continuous heart rate measurement option turned on, but when I'm at rest the sensor lights go out, is that normal? Or do they have to blink the beat all the time even though it's at rest? Unless it's automatic by the watch to save battery.
Amazing review..I love your phone reviews…you show Netflix n RUclips quality on the phone which not many youtubers do..great job 😃😃
Everyone does
Wow! Thank you so much. Fist review I see. I really was hoping someday this watches became smaller... I have a kids size wrist and am a lil aggressive that I'll break them easily if bulky. Which it already happened 😅
I love reviews of fists...but you obviously aren't first..just a stupid game for babies to get attention!!!
I have the Samsung Watch 4. Don't buy it. Really, don't. Nothing to brag about, no extra features and they failed the sensors. So bad.
I have few questions:
1) How to install Gpay in watch 4?
2) I have connected OnePlus wireless bullets z with watch 4 - than while receiving a call - I have to talk via phone or watch. I am not able to talk via bluetooth headset which is already connected to watch.
Please pick my question 🙏
Gpay can be had thur app store.
And you could have ear buds connected to your phone or your watch .
Calls can be easyly switched
@@yskuzi I have connected the Bluetooth earbuds with my watch, and I got the call on my phone.
I have picked up from the watch - but after picking up the call I am not able to talk via bluetooth earbuds which is already connected with watch.
Either I am able to talk via watch speaker or phone.
Please help - this is because I have non samsung earbuds and phone ?
Google pay comes with the watch so...? Idk about the earbuds
How has the black case held up? Concerned about scratches showing silver. I know I can avoid this by buying the silver case, but really like the black.
Can you help since the update on phone I can't seem to make or receive calls from watch.
I have the active 2 is this worth upgrading to?
Please please please do a side by side for galaxy watch and Xiaomi Watch Colours 2.
I really enjoy your reviews! Thanks buddy! Keep it going
Tks for the review review
which one is better in your opinion?
Can you get the full functions with a another android phone? Except for a Samsung?
What I want to know also
What's it like using this with a Huawei? I heard the metrics don't work but does everything else work seemlessly?
I kept checking my other browser tabs to see if Ieft some video or music playing in the background.
Thank you for another awesome review Chris! Cheers 🥂
I have a question
What is the circumference of your wrist?
It will help me decide if I want the 40mm one or the 44mm one.
I think after the update it does do that. Does with mine
That's weird, I have the GW4 and it vibrates and shows an icon to tell me I'm disconnected
When you see kurisu in the watch, you know it's going to be a trusty review
Well I didn't have time 🙃 to review before the wifey sprung it on me so today is my first full day of the watch so far so good and thanks for the review it shed se light on things 😊
Is Bixby stuck on all international versions as well? I thought finally I would buy a Samsung smartwatch now it has android wear, but this turns me off.
Coming from the watch 3, I switched to the tic watch pro 3. The G4 battery life is a deal breaker for me.
I went for the tic watch pro 3 also.
Looking forward to your Classic thoughts and I'll be ordering mine once the Google assistant update is there
What's your wrist size? Since the GW4 only comes with one Band size, I wonder, if the S/M Band will fit on my 185cm wrists... 🤔
I have the smaller non classic one which I use to track activities and wear out, it's much lighter and less noticeable on your wrist than Apple watches or other smart wristwatches I've used, needs a software update though to show photos on it etc rather than having to open the phone as much
Hi, do you have 40mm galaxy watch 4?
Why do you want your watch to be less noticeable? I agree the apple watch is ugly but if you're getting a watch then you should get one that attracts attention like the galaxy classic.
@@zioxei BATMAN agrees 👍
The watch 4 shows photos now does it not?
Hello sir. You got The Last update for The galaxy watch 4? I am from România and I havent got it yet
I returned mine after 3 weeks, zero benefits compared to my Active2, charges slower and battery doesn't last anywhere near as long.
I did exactly the same. My active 2 was way better in my personal opinion.
3:06 I'm happy about that, I have my active2 on wake and every movement it would turn on my watch face and drain my battery quick.
awesome review mate! i think I'm gonna go with the 44 😍
So, you're telling me that the active 2 has better battery life?
It does. Over 24hrs of use the 44mm Watch 4 uses 10% more battery life than my 44mm Active 2, same usage.
By far, I can get two days from my Active2 (just). Watch4 was good for about 24-30 hours.
Then why doesn't Samsung and Google build on top of Tizen OS and add Google Play store to it?
I have the watch active 2, it has this feature to up the touch sensivity (which i have turned off btw), seeing you talk about its responsiveness, did they remove that on the watch 4?
Hi, changing the touch sensitivity is on the GW4 as well.
It will definitely be better than the other watches out there, in my opinion
I have bought it lol.. works perfect.. i can live without BP and ECG 🤣 i am very skeptical on the accuracy on those two anyway.. but thanks mate
@@dengyldneko that's great!
Can the US version work in the caribbean or would I need to get an international version?
Can you use this watch if you only have one arm. I do have a touch screen watch that I can use, but not too sure if this one is for me. Can I ask that some of you try it and let me know please?
can you charge it with galaxy watch (1) charger? Or vice versa
I still have the original Galaxy watch (have had it for 2 years now) and I'm just now realizing that I can scroll through the apps with the black edge 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I didn't realize they released 4 versions within 2 years?
If the watch is a galaxy 4 why doe some say 2 or 3 on the home screen?

How's durability in water and mud I'm a water waste water operator and sometimes submerged fixing leaks with water blowing and mud and sand daily
@@IC3DR460N same here. I have small wrist but I think the 44mm will have better battery life..
@@heibaimao well I found an open box one...we will see how it fits. Hopefully it doesn't look too big.
Hold on, you shower before going to bed and after getting up the following day?
In Poland orienteering is more and more popular! We have not only short distances, but also marathons (routes longer than 50km!). It is so much fun :D The question is if the battery will last :P
Great review man!
Can anyone clarify if the LTE works with o2? I've seen, yes and no online. Driving me nuts tbh
For an informative guy with such a great sense of humor, one would think he would have better taste in music! ;)
Same here...it's in my drawer. Thanksfor the info on the Huawei
I just got this Galaxy Watch 4 44mm on sale for $130 at my local target. Bought it now as I’m gonna switch back to android when the S23 Ultra comes out lol.
Can you tell the circunference size of your wrist?
The touch screen doesn't seem to work that well. When I try to use a slider it isn't smooth at all.
Where did you get Kurisu as your watch face.. please mate ive looked so hard
I love mine, I have all the monitoring on with regular use and get about 1.5 days battery. So far it's been a blast to use, just wish the app support was better... 😔
Same here, around 1.5 days. And I agree on the app support. I was a bit disappointed when I opened up Play Store the first time. Wish we could access Galaxy Store. I love it though☺
Your choice for triathlon app fot this watch?
Samsung user here and can we atleast get the BP app as promised? Untill now it still doesnt have BP app which was the purpose of upgrading the watch
I upgraded to the gw4 40mm from the fitbit blaze, at first it was good u can answer calls and send texts, and use features such as nfc on it, but samsung are more gimmicky imo, they add features like body comp in without making sure the most important features are as accurate as they can be, especially ive noticed with stress and sleep tracking, I'll wake up and my phone will still be listening for me snoring and the watch still counts sleep until i click on the samsung health app to stop it, and sonetimes u can wake up and fall back to sleep and it doesnt count the 2nd sleep, and stress is all over the place, it says im stressed when im doing nothing but ik fine when excersizing
hi can i use my old watch Galaxy Watch active 2 straps on this watch?
In my own experience it's not usable. My 40mm watch (LTE) can only last 1 to 2 hours when I open the Komoot app for biking! Not to say the watch becomes unbearably hot every time. It does last longer with default activities tracking but still well below 1 day.
I used to have a fit bit but then I got a Samsung Galaxy 4 Smartwatch and I love it.....
Is this watch well adapted to an inactive lifestyle too?
Nice review, but....I never see on this and other "official" review that galaxy watch 4(and clasic) have problem with gmail notification.
I have Watch 4 clasic and receive gmail dot notification, but no vibration on watch. For other apps, l have vibration, so it is clear software problem. On reddit there is manny complains about this. Did anyone have this problem?
Love your videos - they do make me laugh....with the added bonus of being full of useful stuff so they are always my first port of call for tech reviews. Bit confused about the 'don't wear it in sea water' comment. I thought you could wear this watch for pool and open water swimming. I'm looking for a watch I can wear for pool swimming, sea swimming and SUP.
