Great job with this fantastic guide. By far the best guide for Brewmaster out there; very well layed out, covering everything you need to know about this fantastic class. I agree, Brewmaster Monk is by far my favorite class I have played. Thanks again for the video, and keep it up!
Just wanted to say, amazing guide! It was my personal goal to also have 6 tanks for WoD as I only started playing in MoP and all I have left to get is Guardian and Brewmaster, and this certainly has made me feel more confident in playing one. Thanks!
Thanks for the guide, this is what actually made me convert my windwalker monk into a Brewmaster monk, will never go back so much fun tanking with all the aoe and cool spells. You made the game and class alot more fun for me :)
Amazing, watched this videos 10 times. Just to make sure I haven't missed anything. Very well done!! Watching it again. My monk isn't 90 yet but often get told how easy I am to heal. Thanks a lot!!
I've played windwalker monk all the time, since MoP realised untill today but after watching your videos, i've decided to learn playing as a brewmaster. Good job man !
I watched this entire 42 minute video.. This is by far the best guide ive seen.. EVER. And yes ive been playing since vanilla. Very well done man! Youve also inspired me to go play my BM monk.. Again, well done friend, keep it up!
What a great video got sent here by a friend of mine. Glad I did because your guide for the brewmaster is the best on youtube at the moment. You sir got a sub!
I absolutely love this video! I used it to learn how to play my monk and I absolutely LOVE him, I coupled this vid with all the BoA's and I'm progressing so fast and expect it to be one of my mains
thanks for the best and most comprehensive brewmaster guide Ive ever seen. this answered so many questions that most other biased guide creators overlook due to personal preference.
What a great guide! Brew tanking is a bit daunting, and this helps me a lot. Thanks!
Thank you and that's absolutely awesome! I'm happy to help and Monk tanking is one of those easy things to talk about for me, being that i'm so passionate about it. GOOD LUCK!
halfway through leveling my brewaster monk now watching this guide got me pretty damn excited. first monk spec and theres so much more to look forward to
Awesome, GOOD LUCK! As for Clicking that takes a while to get use to, I made a vid a long time ago with my Keybinds and such but my way is very far from optimal... But I have been doing it so long trying to change is very painful. But if you are interested just search Eatmopie's keybinds and addons, I don't use any addons for my keybinds, but Dominoes Bar addon does make life easier. :D
New Brewmaster here. Went into LFR - Gates of retribution. I'm a really squishy tank atm, and your friend Elducraft, told me to check out your tanking guide!
Thanks a lot to you and Elducraft for sending me here :)
Really fantastic clip! I haven't been playing my brewmaster for a while because I screwed up big time, all the time! This makes me want to get back on the horse and try again, it's an amazing class after all! :D
Inspiring. Been too afraid to tank in general but this video and your others have given me a kick to try it. Thank you.
hey, just wanted to thank you for making this, before this i could barely even take on the elite mobs on timeless
Hey man just wanna say great vid helped me out a ton! Had a WW and just wasn't feeling it. So I switched to a brewmaster started raiding again and oh boy do I love it! I can second on you with the favorite class thing haha. Keep up the great work man!
Thank You! Great to hear, I knew I wasn't the only one. :D
Really enjoyed this guide man, makes me even more excited about playing my Brew! Subbed :)
so i am leveling a panda brewmaster right now and i was worried because my current guild was ragging on brew masters pretty hard the other day. but this video and the way you talk about them has calmed me on that. so thank you for all the info and insight.
Thanks for the guide man, it is great and very well though of. Is a very long guide but doesn't feel tiring of learning from it, contrary to many other out there.
I am just now jumping into PvE, after years of straight PvP and decided to start with a brewmaster (oh boy, little I knew what I was getting into...) and was very confused, but you clarified a lot of things, thank you very much for the help.
thanks for your time spent to put this together. make more!
my friend just boosted my monk to 80 through refer a friend thing, and i have no clue what im doing, this video helped alot. awsome man 5stars for you
By the way, this guide was extremely well made. Thanks so much for this!
Great guide, I really enjoyed it. You have a knack for this, keep up the good work! I'm planning to turn my WW Monk (still 76) to a Brewmaster because the concept seems so much cooler than straight-up DPS. It will officially be my first tank in WoW too!
Thank You, and That is Great to hear. The Monk class is so versatile and fun you can't go wrong, Warms my heart that you are gonna give Brewmaster a try though, Good Luck!
I'm impressed with ur video man. Great job. I been playing the monk bm for a while now and figure thats how u were suppose to play it. Everything u said I was doing. I just wasn't sure if I was doing it right Tell I saw ur video. Didn't know about the add-on thanks for that. Keep up the good work great video.
One of the best tutorial vids ive seen. Got a Sub here thankyou
You explain things very clearly and in interesting way. Great guide!
Awesome Guide keep up the good work man!
Awesome video, loved it the whole way through. Definitely subscribed and will be watching more. Thank you very very much.
Best guide for brewmaster ever! love your vids keep them up please :D
This video helped so much ty been playing ww and wanted to change it up thank you for makin the switch a little easier
Hey bro, seriously, best guide ever. I didnt want to ruin everyones WoW experience after boosting a monk as a tank. After this guide and a few dungeons, I think I'm ready to raid with out wiping 24 other people
Im happy I stuck with a monk so i can watch your guides:D
Thanks dude, great video...informative and fun to watch. POOF, we're on the internet. Just blew the dust off my monk again last night (was my first to 90 but moved to my priest), slapped on full 496 timeless gear, spent my banked VP on a few items and I'm GTG. Starting out as a hit/exp > haste > crit build for now until I gear up. Would love (LOVE) to see a tanking focused guide on SoO since I've only healed or dpsed them so far. But...thank you Pie! And PS, love the tmog look a lot.
I am 5 minutes in and I am really entertained. You Sir earned a new subscriber.
Haha, Thank you. Hope you made it the rest of the way through. :D
Nice video, you explained stuff really clearly. Funny too! Now to spend 5 days obsessively tweaking WeakAuras!
Thank You! Your comment is the kind that keep me excited about making more of these types of vids. Now if only more people knew this guide was a thing LOL. Have fun! :D
Enjoyed the video man very informative!
I havent been playing since the very beggining of MoP and last week when I started to play I was wondering, what new chart to level up. I watched that video and right away did a brewmaster. Thanks Pie for this guide, it was very helpful and funny. When MoP came out I was a little bit sceptic for tanking monks but now I understand what you mean in the video. They are very funny, easy to adapt and intersting to play cuz of the energy/chi system, all attack and defensive cd, different kind of chuck norris style kicks. They really kick ass. I can`t wait reach 90.
That is awesome to hear, Thank you, I'm happy to help.. and GOOD LUCK!! :D
Really good guide, it helped alot thanks mate!
Fantastic video man really enjoyed it and It inspired me to start tanking on my monk :D
One of The Best wow guide i've ever seen! would love to see Guardians and DKs version of it. Ive undertood everything from one vid, that happens so rarely! First time I would like to donate someone for a great guide (no homo!) ;). The way u explain, not only what this or that spell does, but when to use, how to use, passive synergies - all that stuff makes bw monk so understandable, especially for a person who have never played monk, and who is scared to play a tank spec. Only one guide is almost as good as urs - 5.4 fury warrior rotation guide, when a maker of that vid shows the combination of spells pasting icon after icon to the "tell me when" add-on. Step by step, easy to understand + getting used to how spells icons look like. This buff? the icons that way, that buff? this way, etc. Thanks for ur great guide!! (sry for bad english)
Thank You! I'm very happy it helped. :D
Nice finally someone to show people the ropes Ty keep it up
Awesome vid. Thanks as always!
Thxs dude I just started playing again ... Best character I have ever made.also this is my first tank and it is the best
Thnx dude, Challenge Modes are super high on my list of things I want to do this week actually. So as soon as I can get some others to take some time i'll be all over that. Proving grounds is also a good time i've been trying to get my "you're doing it wrong" achieve .. :D
mopie i very much liked this video and your explaination was great very solid advice it sounded like i cant wait to go out into the world and try it out thanks alot
Thank you for a great guide!
This video was perfect man thanks!!!
Yeah I have it installed but after about 20 mins of fiddling I couldn't get it to do what I wanted and haven't touched it since. I'll have to check out Sunnier's set up. Thnx man!
Wow mate, thank you very much for this video. As someone who returns to World of Warcraft after 3 years and decided to roll a Brewmaster I found myself swimming in a sea of skills (I'm leveling up with a friend through RAF and every time I got new skills I was "fuck me, I don't even know the ones I have") and your guide is my life jacket.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
amazing guide. Helped me out a lot
Awesome video, it helped me a lot!!! Thank you so much and keep up the good work =D
Great guide, perfectly done. Thank you.
thank you dude this was amazing
I just subscribed. Your video has a great quality video and audio. Thanks for including an index at the start of the video. very thoughtful for a long video. Your a good speaker.
very nice video. I am a MW monk but I leveled as BrM and I agree 100% with what you said about how fun it is. It's like so many tools to pick up and keep aggro, unlike some tanks who have like 2 taunts when leveling I could use Provoke, Clash, The Keg toss that has no CD (AWESOME ability). I hope more monks who want to tank visit your video because I have raided with a few bad ones but also a few very very good ones. It's not a face roll spec which is why i like it.
What a fantastic video
Pie you desrve sooooo many more thumbs up for this guide. It is simply the best BM guide on youtube. Hands down like 6:30 on clock.
Thnx dude. This one took some effort... If only I was a better marketer.. lol
Very good video I'm a new tank and this helped me out a lot. I actually added to your black ox statue macro I added /targetlasttarget. This added to that macro will do the same as your macro just instead of trying to re click on the target u had or cycle threw all the targets to get back to the boss/add u were on
Try using this one for the Ox statue:
#showtooltip
/target Black Ox Statue
/cast Provoke
/targetlastenemy
It will do what it did before but keep you on your target.
Also, I use two macros that boost the DPS output slightly:
#showtooltip
/console Sound_EnableSFX 0
/castsequence reset=15 Chi Wave, Jab, Jab, Jab, Jab, Jab
/console Sound_EnableSFX 1
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
For not having to click Chi Wave separately and
#showtooltip
/console Sound_EnableSFX 0
/use 10
/cast !Tiger Palm
/console Sound_EnableSFX 1
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
For Phase Fingers if you're an engineer. Nice vid, I personally prefer the crit build and find it hillarious that I can't be hit.
Thumbs Banadona's comment up plz. Thnx for taking the time to post that man.. nj
evilakurei Not a problem. I see you went the crit way on your EU monk as well :) Really loving it. Haven't had an opportunity to test it on 25man (I've been only once on Garrosh on 25) so I can't say how it ends up out there. The beautiful part of being a monk is that there are so many ways one can get really good if he tries really hard and experiments. Best class ever in terms of overall polishing IMO. Keep up the good work there man, both your videos and Sun's website helped me get better at tanking, thx for that.
Something to note is that avert harm has been tested and will cause you to stagger 20% more damage from all sources. This includes damage that you take yourself. Useful for things like solo soaking malkrok cleaves or large hits.
A very good note, in those cases you will have to be ready to purify fairly quickly but nice tip ty! + that up so everyone sees it plz.
I dont even play wow....But now i buyed the whole game just for playing brewmaster....Thx Evila thats the only thing i can say...THX
In SoO 10man got higher dps check less combat resses (10man got 1and 25man got 3) and in 10 man you have less raid CDs. Blizzard gave 25man higher chance to get warforged but I think it's a way to get more people to do 25man otherwise one of the most awesome guides I have ever seen :)
This is amazing! first in-depth and helpful guide ive come across! keep it up! 100% sub'd and liked:-)!
Holy shit 40 minute guide! Nice.
This helped me understand a few things that were confusing me on my Monk Tank side. Great video, thank you kindly for posting!
Amazing guide! Really informative and it sure helped me a lot when using the Preorder 90 boost. Two suggestions though.
1, I found a macro for taunt that I personally like a lot and thought I'd share:
"#showtooltip
/cast [nomod] Provoke
/target [mod:ctrl] Black Ox Statue
/cast [mod:ctrl] Provoke"
This will taunt normally when just pressing whatever bind you have set for the macro, and if holding ctrl along with it then it will do an aoe taunt (with your Ox Statue out), of course you could change that bind in the macro to shift aswell, just edit "ctrl" to "shift" on the 2 last rows.
For example:
T = Normal Taunt
Ctrl + T = Aoe Taunt
2, I hate to sound like a whiner, but the guide was to 99% perfectly made, what I would've loved would be to have a bit lower volume ingame set, and maybe I'm just crying a little here but at some parts of the video the background sounds were very high, I'd rather just hear you talking and then have some low background sound.
But again, great video =) Wall of text sorry.

Oh , thanks alot for answering my questions ^^ I usually keep guard always UP whenever it´s possible but for bosses that have that gigga drill hit i always try to save it... I also use it alot to help the healers (30% + self heal is a big deal) On the stats subject I guess going with the health build is good until you are overgeared for X boss , my 25m guild has a monk tank , he usually goes for crit and mastery and he can manage it. For 10M i´ve seen people going full crit for all the fights.
hey, awesome guide :) i started to really get into a monk recently, been maining an enhance shaman for a LONG time.
another idea, for your taunt macro, is to setup just ONE with a shift modifier... it frees up a slot for you, and allows you to still auto target/cast your taunt (when mod key is down) or just taunt your current target... might be something to look into :)
Brewmaster seems like a lot of fun. Of all the specs it seems like the most interesting to play which is strange for me to say because most of the time I am not really all that interested in tanking. It seems like you have a lot of control over your character and have decent damage while not having to deal with rotations. It just seems like the class and spec for me.
Your still my favorite monk!! Watched some of the Pwnda videos like ya said...NADA YOUR THE KING BABY!!!................../BOW
that dwarf laughing in the back round was driving me crazy
Thanks for the great advice!
thank you! :D rocking with my drunken master real well now
Thank you, I put a good amount of time into this one, so pass it on. :D
Shoutout! Saw you in LFR today, Said hi. This is Tyler from Stormrage. :D
Great guide
I was that way with ToT because I missed all that and was behind in gear when I came back. Don't worry about it, if you google quick and dirty tank guide for ToT, it gives you all you need to know about each boss. Should boost your confidence some. But yeah man you never know until you try so dive we got your back. :D
"Now we got 40%.... Not good enough? Okay.."
Haha this was funny to watch :D
Monk tanking is awesome lol, them kegs!
I am leveling my brwemaster monk but i got kind a bored but now i see this i continue leveling xD
Very Very Good guide dude thnx,
And ur also kind a funny 2 ;p
Really nice vid, gd job :D
awesome bro!
Finally SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WTF he's talking about
I would really recommend the glyph 'Enduring Healing Sphere'
Thank you for this. This was the best Brewmaster video I've watched yet. It's comprehensive and explains everything very clearly. Again, thank you!
Happy to help... :D
Hell Yes it is!
TY! i'm going backwards here, using Guard as a reduction CD is a good plan, if you know a hit is coming in less than 30 seconds then definitely save it but in generally I am using it on cd so I don't waste bonus reduction. On the crit subject, In 25man I didn't like the crit build at all, My hp was extremely low which is a HUGE disadvantage on some fights IMO, Howevver, Bloodlegion has a bm tank that has crit in every gem slot, so it boils down to personal pref and what you are comfortable with.
For stats on my BM Monk i like to go for 15% Expertise, I keep the mastery at 5%, 50% Crit Chance, and then go all Stamina. That`s a simple Expertise/Crit/Stamina BM Monk build which i use for 10 Man raids both Normal and Heroic and it seems to work perfectly.
great video :)
go into your keybinds, reset your action bar scroll key to ctrl. now set up /cast [mod:shift] macros. with 5 buttons u can have 10 moves. example:
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] expel harm; purifying brew
this will use the brew but when it goes red and u need that chi + extra heal just press shift and click/tap this let off shift click/tap it again and you're alive.
i also rebind Q E R F C X in place of 7 8 9 0 - =. this makes 12 buttons accessible to a mere 3 fingers. good video, i didn't realize how important elusive brew was, some how it escaped my notice that it increases shuffle by 20% lol so thank you for that :)
Thank you, haha, Pie's School of Tanking... It could happen someday. If you have anything specific you are having trouble with or have questions about etc. Go over to my FB and send me a message, I'm always happy to help if I can. :D
U help me so much. thanks man!!!
I would recommend the addon Weakauras and importing some of Sunnier's WeakAuras, which can be found by googling Sunnier's Weak Auras, a lot of good stuff there.
--Brewmonster - Skullcrusher
Looks really fun. Wish I still played. Stopped after lich king:/
lol the elusive brew part about 2h vs dual wield you sounded confused yourself haha
About the macro part, using macro like *#showtooltip** /cast [@Black Ox Statue] Provoke* Doesn't change your current target but still casts taunt on the black ox statue. This way you can keep doing damage without having to switch target back from the statue to the previous target. It's not big deal but worth mentioning.
No that actually is a pretty awesome way to do it. Thank you
evilakurei You're very welcome :) btw keep on doing these awesome vids :)
It's a addon called stagger meter, I talk about it around 19:00 :D
that intro haha awesome
