@Twitchster - yeah you can't just watch action bars whilst tanking. I suggest the add on tell me when which allows you to place relevant icons you select to be placed closer to your toon for easier tracking. It also allows you to track buffs in the form of bars so you can easily see how long left on shuffle etc. Anything you want really! Really helps to keep things in view so you can concentrate on picking up adds, moving from aoe etc. Hope it helps.
for the 2nd tear of the talents ive found that chi wave is really strong its not worth letting your shuffle drop or not using guard an blahblah, but there are times that u can safely get off a breath of fire or possibly a chi wave if the healer is struggleing, its pretty massive healing.
When you take damage, 80% of it is taken instantly, and the other 20% is applied as a dot that ticks over 6 seconds I believe. If you do nothing you end up taking the normal amount of damage that you would, if you Purify you remove the debuff, and end up only taking 80% of the damage of the attack. With shuffle from Blackout kick it is improved so that you take 60% of the attack initially and 40% with the dot.
It is also important to note that dual wielding is viable, especially in cases where there is substantial stat increase. Dual wielding is seen by most as meh because of the hit chance penalty for white attacks messing with Gift of the Ox healing sphere procs and elusive brew stacks. Blizzard noticed this problem in beta and lowered the percent chance on GotO procs and tried to even out elusive brew stacking for both DW and 2H.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the haste you get from using a 2-handed weapon is not transferred into actual haste but the haste of you white attacks. Using a 2 handed weapon will not increase your energy gained unless the weapon itself has more haste that the two weapons you'd use dual wielding.
I understand your reasoning. Rhaegarisking mentioned in his post that 2 handed weapons generate more stacks of elusive brew than 1 handed, this sounds about right, but I'll need to recheck to make sure this is correct. That being said someone favoring Elusive Brew usage might be more happy with the consistency of EB build up instead of going the dual weapon enchant route. Also, I wouldn't think of threat as a problem at this point, I personally haven't had an issue with it that is.
Lovely video as always Preacherman, and the only thing I would add is the priority but I see that has already been said in the comments. There is only one thing bugging me, you keep saying Tank class or Healer class instead of spec, weirds me out a bit, but I'm probably the only one bothered by it so no problems. One of your best intro's too, really love the little touch in the end.

That's the whole thing with Monk tanking. Their armor is squishy, they don't have shields, and they don't have much passive Parry or Dodge. Your damage mitigation comes far more from your abilities than your armor compared to other tanks. If your heals thinks you're squishy, you may want to make sure you're keeping track of your abilities and using them to their fullest.

Generating more stacks when you crit with a 2-handed weapon than with a 1-handed weapon. Because of this mechanic it is for the stat priority Crit>Mastery. I'm leveling a BM monk and am absolutely loving it so far. There's a lot to pay attention to and keep track of...but at the same time I feel SO in control of situations. In dungeons I feel confident dealing with anything (big pulls or single target bosses...) and with guard I feel like I'm not too tough for the healers. I just always feel so in control with my monk and ready to take on anything. While questing? I never take any damage. Ever. >.
All in all, I've found myself tanking both with a 2 handed weapon and dual wielding and have to admit that I think Blizz did a hell of a job making both viable. I haven't once thought that I was missing out on anything doing one or the other and hope that this level of personal choice is maintained. I just get all excited when I look at damage taken meters for a raid and see I take almost 50% less than our other tank. :)

I have been to many cities in Asia, although I am an American. I have to say it amazes me that i am 43 and there are older players on WoW. My son got me started and now I am HOOKED. LOL :D :D

The biggest reason I would 2hand as a monk tank would be for weapon procs. 2hand weapons actually have a greater chance or greater effect I honestly can remember which it was. Also the miss chance for a off hand is so great that 40% increase in white damage is not appealing even from a threat stand point. But the melee haste from 2 hand does put the attack speed very close to 1 handed weapons with the increased damage it is a superior threat option. Just my personal thoughts here.
I like rushing jade wind as you can no longer get stuck in a uncancellable channel and be able to use your damage mitigating spells while using spinning crane kick.
What i do as a Brewmaster monk to generate chi is 2 jabs, 1 keg smash, the use your breath of fire to aoe and hold aggro, a simple way to hold aggro and generate massive dps.
well gear affect bm more than other tanking classes and bms take more damage than other tanks because unlike other tanks most of their tankyness is avoiding things which can b a problem if u cant avoid the damage thats coming at u but they make up for it by also having insane dps and a fair amount of self healing and even group healing and group cds
I think if you do guides in the future it might be worth it to quickly mention what type of armor the class uses. Example: bla bla bla intro about Combat Rogue. Combat rogues focus when getting armor is leather agility gear. Agility is our main stat and help us do more damage! (then move on to the rest of the guide.) I think this might be helpful for someone just looking at the class not someone who has the class and wants to better understand it. Just a thought. Loved to hear your feedback.
clash is good if used right, I use it when ive pulled mobs and there is a caster standing back, use it on the caster to get him into ur group of mobs so ur aoes will hit him.
glyph of flame breath is actually pretty broken atm. its good if u want to like interupt a cast and thats about it. damage breaks the daze,.... damage from the dot from breath of fire breaks the daze... lol. i hope it gets fixed soon!

So I started bm tanking not to long ago at level 90 I've done it off and on throughout the leveling process and that went alright. And I went through normals and it went okay, but my first heroic, the heals said I was squishy, but I've seen other tanks with around my same level of gear for heroics, and they were fine. So do monk tanks require a little more gear to not be super soft? Or was it also a healer gear problem as well?
A concern I have...I have a VERY difficult time with focusing on my action bars...I'm constantly watching for when my cool downs are up...or when I can use my next ability. Is this normal? Is this how everyone does it? It just feels like I'm doing it all wrong. All I want to do in a fight is watch my action bars and nothing else (making it tough with any fight that takes maneuvering). I really feel like it's holding be back big time from being a better tank. Any tips or advice?
RIP MoP/WoD brewmaster. Charging Ox Wave, Avert Harm, and Clash were the shit. Clash was not "absolute shit" if you used it on stubborn casters that couldn't be interrupted. And RIP Throne of Thunder (Best raid ever)
you should customise your ui with some addons that display when abilities are ready to be used and display buffs and make sure they surround your character so you can watch where you move but also easily see the display, for a BM you want to keep track of your shuffle and guard and also know when expel harm can be used and also keep track of how much stagger damage you have. check out sunniers art of war a great site that shows a good ui for BM monks :)
Im confused ... so, I gem with agi as a priority rather then stam now? When I first lvld my brewmaster to 90 I aimed for agi but I noticed I took a lot of stagger dmg (5manheroic) and spiked dramatically, scaring the healer. So I started gemming as stam as the main stat. Need some advice.
ok, so I'm seriously still not getting stagger. What it sounds like to me is it's a debuff that procs, and when you're taking dmg stagger hits u harder and harder till you purify it, it's not helping with any defense abilities at all or what? I really don't get it. Please respond
