Windwalker monk vs Brewmaster Monk Leveling as requested.
First of all There is no 100% Best leveling spec... sry... but it can't broken down into numbers and proven that one is better than the other. Despite what some people are claiming, I can level very quickly with either spec and 1-60 my times were nearly identical. Both are excellent for leveling and they both have Pros and Cons. I hope I was able to explain the two main differences to you clearly enough, for you to decide which spec fits your style best. Or at least confuse you enough with my rambling to get you to click the like button LOL.
As I said in the video, I will be starting out as Windwalker and finishing as Brewmaster, I do want to throw this out there, Bliz is adjusting numbers a few times each week at this point in beta, so things are not final but currently Fists of Fury is doing crazy amounts of damage as a low level and I could end up swapping back to WW at 80 - 85 or so if things are still this good.

The Brewmaster wins hands down due to almost instant Dungeon Qs from entering as a tank.
Be prepared to leave deeps in the dust and get around 30-70% of total dungeon damage.

Eatmorepie, you rock!! been watching most of your monk vids! my monk is in level 60 myself after following your path after just 16 hours of playtime. And the 50% xp buff is heaven.

I'm definetly going to take your advice on the switching at 30. My monk is about 18 atm and just wanted to know a decent lvling method. I love pulling entire groups of people. This was super helpful!

Though it surely still looks difficult to choose - the two specs are as you stated both very potent at levling, each in their own way.

great vid, nice to see a back to back comparison of ww and bm leveling. I will say that even though I had already planned on going bm, seeing those bm aoe pulls made me extremely excited to play my bm :)
Just started WoW again today, wasnt sure about bm or ww. Now i defenitly gonna try bm! Thx for the Video it really helped me for my decision.
having a friendly guild is a huge help when it comes to keeping things fun. There is so much to do right now you just have to figure out what you like, raiding,pvp,challenge modes,pet battles, the list goes on. If you aren't having fun on your character you can always try a different class too. :D

i noticed you take chi burst as a BM. Since sphere is nerfed to hell and pretty much useless now, I assume you take it over chi wave because as a BM you don't need the extra aoe? Or do you like the heal better for leveling? BTW, im going bm all the way. even up to level 30, everything is going to die quick. I see no reason to change specs that early in the game. Plus im hoping that all that BM play will make me a better monk. Great vid once again man!

I now know why you level so many Monks! I levelled one today from 1-32, which is pretty good for me! I find Monks amazing, especially Brewmasters! Brewmasters are the best spec in my opinion. I now Tank in dungeons with this spec, and am enjoying every minute of levelling him! Enlightenment+Heirlooms=AWESOME! :D
At any rate, I apologise for the confusion I was simply saying what I believed to be correct based on past research and good luck getting server first.
Just for testing purposes, I have the both on live and will most likely use the staff to level just for the tiny boost in stats, but there isn't much difference between dw vs 2h while leveling you kill things very quickly up to 80 either way. Also at lvl 80 your monk class quest gives you a awesome blue polearm that lasts all the way to 85. Anyway, thank you for the question and subbing :D

As a windwalker DW is slightly ahead currently, but it really boils down to what weapons you have with the highest stats, I am using a 2h for pve dps right now because it is a much higher iLvl than the 1h weps I have. I"m not sure what my dps was back when I made this, even though it is still relevant overall damage has increased a lot in the last 11 mos.
A long time ago, back when they first released BoA leveling items in Wotlk. I decided to finally level the class I always wanted. A female human priest. I had played the entire Burning Crusade expansion as an Enhancement Shaman, because none of my friends had a Shaman, and on my server at the end of BC there were a total of 5 Enhancement Shamans capable of end game content, myself included. So in WotlK when I made my Priest, EVERYONE was telling me to level as Shadow (Cause that was what everyone did.) Instead I leveled as Discipline, using certain Glyphs such as the one that increased Holy Nova and PW:S. I proved everyone wrong about Shadow beong the best for leveling (Shadow was going to be my end content spec, and my spriest topped the dps charts in ICC, and despite what others might think the other raiders were in fact playing their classes properly.) But anyways *I apologies for that tangent* The Disc Priest while leveling with the BoA gear was able to level the same way the Brewmaster Monk does in this video. Pulling 15+ mobs its such a great leveling tactic.
I actually made a whole video about that a while back, but the short of it is they are very close to equal, until you get into heroic raiding gear, at that point 2h for tank dw for dps, but the difference is fairly small and situational. I also pref a 2h for pvp.
Hmmm I do remember reading it at some point on the forums a long time ago because someone raised the very issue that RAF will have an unfair advantage and it will be the only way to get server first monks. I honestly can't find the link but from what I remember they said that you can RAF a monk to 80 and then level onto 90 but you will not be eligible for the server first achievement. They may have changed their minds though.

Good question and Thank you. If I make up my mind and go dwarf I will dw the maces all the way because of the expertise bonus, if I go pandaren I will probably use the staff because your yellow attacks hit a bit harder with a 2h and that burst helps speed up the process a bit.
Thanks for the video I was not quite sure what type of monk I wanted. After seeing your video I know I am W.W. B.M. is awesome also. But I better at AOEing smaller mobs then large ones. You Should do a Spec video on Monk.

I've been reading alot of forums posts about a daily monk quest that can be done to grant a +50% xp bonus for an hour. You can apparently do 2 of these quests to give you +50% for 2hrs. Can you do a video guide on this please? How to get there, what to do. If I choose to stat my monk as a non-panda race, can I still get this quest by going to pandaria via Zen Pilgrimage or something?
couple other questions. I notice some abilities cost mana (looking at blizzards talent calc, could be outdated), like expel harm. But expel harm isnt mistweaver only. So how does a non-mistweaver cast an ability that requires mana. Also, any chance you could put up a vid on your opinions regarding pvp spec and glyphing?
Thank you! Playing a tank spec will make you a better monk for sure, so that is a good plan. Yeah at lower levels Chi burst hits very hard and is a nice aoe, zen sphere is as you said kind of terrible and they are nerfing it more as I type this in a new beta build LOL...Chi wave is really good but, the damage and healing is not always reliable sometimes it bounces all 7 times sometimes it will only heal you once so I don't like it much on the BM.

as a brewmaster the most important one is breath of fire and then clash, for windwalker, touch of karma is the most important and sparring is good aswell. I have leveled a toon to 85 with and without glyphs it doesn't make to much difference but they are nice to have those few the rest don't matter much for lvling

You might want to reconsider leveling 1-81 at all, if you're going for World First. You need to use RAF.

Wish you had a DPS meter, especially with the Pandaria mobs, I want to see how you handle the dallies quest mobs, as it takes me forever on my pally tank to drop them.
They are still in the game I just got it about 3 months ago. The Kalu'ak tourney every Saturday afternoon in Northrend. If you win you get a choice of fishing boots or the boa ring ...It took me a long time to get but 5% bonus xp for alts is pretty sexy!

The one in kun lai? I'm not sure if you can, but I did just recently take my EU monk from 84-90 last week and it went real fast, I did 2 bgs each lvl and an instance the rest of my grinding was questing, I was 87 before I got out of Jade Forest did a bit in kun lai to 88 then off to townlong which gets you almost to like 60% through 89 the first few klaxxi quests finish things off. I don't know how many hours it took, but it felt fast and was the easiest i've had out of my 9 lvl 90s. Good Luck
yes they are :) I love the monk class more and more! I was a Druid/paladin tank for a while and it got boring but the monk feels so fresh and fun to play :)

I think even without RAF I have a shot at realm first, because there probably are not many people that have practiced as much as I have as long as I don't sleep lol so we'll just have to see. :D

Blizz announced ages ago that RAF will not be counted towards sever first.
I haven't see anything about it after searching for a few mins, they won't allow grant a level with Scroll of Rez, but they said RAF will work for monks as far as I can tell. If you could find a link that said that it would make my freakin day plz thnx :D
I absolutely can, I love requests when its something I am interested in haha. Yes Bliz has some outdated info expel harm for non mistweavers cost 40 energy the same for Jab and spinning crane kick.
yeah they are so good, the only reason I am going to keep ww till 30 is there are no monk trainers around other than major cities or after lvl20 when you can teleport to the peak of serenity.

I've been leveling as a healer and tbh it goes pretty fast because of the passive ability teachings of the monastery spamming spinning crane kick and blackout kick with chi burst.

Yeah Hopefully my hardcore-ness will catch me up. I won't be doing RAF even if it is only $10 I think it is dumb to have to pay for achieves... I still have a legit shot at server first because of how fast I can get leveled, but I really won't hold my breath. I will be happy being 90 quickly and gearing up with a solid knowledge base of my class.

what are the stat armor for brewmasters - i saw that the windwalker uses agi like the rogue/feral druid so is it the same for brewmasters or do they use the same armor as the druid tank str. stam
I believe at lvl 80 there is a monk quest to get a polearm ... pvp weapons are always a solid option too
If you're going for server first monk, you will need to raf to 80 and start there, otherwise you will be left in the dust.
just a question. How the f**k can you have so much monk chars at so many different levels?
Yeah if you kill things one at a time but if you are killing 3+ at a time you build up plenty of vengeance and it can get pretty crazy how good your damage is once you learn how to keep yourself alive :D

Well they gave me permission but mostly it is because, I really like their "if you can't afford to buy our music here is a link to steal it from a torrent" attitude that they have posted on their facebook. So I totally support them for being awesome like that. It may be time to find some new background music though eh... hehe
do mw monks get other attacks around level 27 and do bw monks get anything like healing surge or any heals at any level

I'm gonna be WW until I feel like I know the spec mechanics enough to to be able to pick it back up at 90 and feel like a pro. But BM looks like the way to go, although you become an easy target to horde when you have 10+ mobs on you lol. Especially on my server. :P
Sadly u cant get world first with out Recruit a friend cause u can get a instant level 80 monk once mop goes live.. with saved up grant levels..

Nope Bliz has said SoR won't work for monks at least at first... which is why I didn't think RAF would... untill they announced it a couple weeks ago....
well everything is getting converted into jp or honor on the 28th... and the max will not have a hard cap for a while ... you can do bgs and convert honor to JP and get what you need or the otherway around much more easily after 5.0
I have a SoR and was wondering if it would work on monks and idk what to do with it if I can't because I have so much done on my main account

I was more concerned by the fact I don't have the heirloom 1h maces and that I do not have an active WoW sub for a few days. Ugh seems like a LOT of grinding

It does seem a bit skewed since he is in BoA gear BUT that is only super uber OP at low levels. With the right professions and smart gear choices you can be on par with them post 20 - 30.
And at 86 there are no looms that work so, I liked it. Also I have all the looms so... LOL
If you are going to do dungeons it will go fast. Mistweaver is good but it takes a while to kill anything, it is just the curse of being a healer.
What are the addon for the numbers,to make thm like neater the in WoW standard UI
I use Mik's scrolling battle text for my notifications etc.. and my actual text is another addon called BetterFont both are from Curse.
You dowse mobs with alcohol and set them on fire can't be more Badass than that

Brewmaster is definitely the best. Pop guard and hotkey your healing sphere. You'll almost never die. I think Monks are now on par or above hunters on Soloing capability.
Yep that's the one I read as well, no granting levels for SoR but RAF will work as usual and give realm first achs..., It still sucks leveling 2x 80s to be able to grant 80 levels but atleast you could take your time doing it. I do hope that they CRZ all of you 5 min old lvl 80 monks so 80-85 takes you 10 hours LOL and gives me a chance to catch up some.. Anyway, I personally refuse to pay more money to bliz to win even if I do see the business logic of it. either way we are down to 9 days :D
Sorry, as I said in a later post I was just going off what I read a long time ago as in before the beta was even opened so clearly I was misinformed or they changed their minds. Either way I also acknowledged it was a long time ago and I could be wrong.
