    Excellent info as always. It is really too bad that auto doesn't work... you know... Automatically. For us to be messing about picking channels is silly when the Go app should just pick the best channel for us. One thing you neglected to mention is that once you pick a channel, it stays there even after a battery change so if you pick #161 for example because that works well where you are currently but then move to a different location and 161 is not clean, it won't change it for you. Once you pick a channel in custom, that is the channel you will always and forever have until you manually change it.

    Very good information, I was just about to send my drone back tomorrow but I will try your method one more time. Some people are saying that when you have poor signal you may have a bedroom, how true you think that is? Should I send a drone back? Or should I refresh it?

      Any updates? I've just had my second outing with a terrible signal and range on my Air. I live in a rural area and this shouldn't be a big problem.

    • @MichaelHurdleStudio
      @MichaelHurdleStudio 6 лет назад +1

      Yes. I finally sent it back. I made a few deals and got a phantom 4 pro obsidian. I'm going to wait until they fix the first gen Mavic Air. I really want one for my quick run and gun situations, but I'll wait until late this year to see if DJI announces any new drone before I pull the trigger.

      I upgraded from a Spark to the Air. I was hoping to take the Air with me to Australia in a few months. Sigh. Not sure what to do now. I'm going to reinstall the firmware on the remote and drone, then do so more testing.

      @MichaelHurdleStudio 6 лет назад +1

      Damn bro. I wish that you would be able to take it with you. I'm just hoping one day DJI comes out with a new firmware update and they just fix this issue. We didn't get this drone to trouble shoot, we got it to fly.

      Michael Hurdle Production Studio i was able to fix my problem and LOVE THE AIR! Plug an android in it will say “we notice ur in another country, change WLAN settings?” Hurry up and click yes. It will add 5.8ghz option “if ur 5.8ghz option is missing” i fly in the middle of downtown silicon valley no issues

    I've been getting great range with the Air and 5.5" CrystalSky but when I move the CrystalSky over to my Mavic Pro the video signal is terrible with the drone sitting in front of me. I've not dug into the problem and went back to iPhone for now.

    Excellent info vid thank you.. Can I ask you if its worth using an OTG cable.. I was also wondering what would happen if it came off during flight.. I have a Spark..

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 лет назад +1

      Once set the frequency will remain the same until you disarm basically as it can not change in flight, even if you loose smart device connection you will still have flight control

      Yea that’s right. More red means more interference

    Hi I am interested in the mount on the controller which supports the CrystalSky unit. I am trying to find the right one for it and yours looks just the thing I am looking for. Thanks for the video very informative.

    Hi. Can you tell us about the new firmware update I had today on my mavic air regarding airspace and geo fencing. I'm just inside airspace and I don't want to update this if it will stop me taking off to get the odd sun set pics from my home. Cheers

    Is that showing the Wi-Fi conditions at the RC's location, or the drone? In other words, is there a way to tell if you might be flying into a congested area thousands of feet away?

    when you view Wi-Fi signals is that as received from the Drone or the controller? In other words if I bring the drone up a hundred feet then look will I see more signals?

    Will the drone loose WiFi and fall from the sky or just return to home. Can WiFi be better thank wired connection? Thanks

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  5 лет назад

      It will just return to home, the Mavic Air also has the ability to track its position back so it will follow the flight route back too. this often confuses people

    I just purchased a "Mavic Air", installed the updates, went and checked the WiFi settings and only the 2.4Ghz is listed. It does not show 5Ghz, (even when I checked custom). Also, no custom channels selection. Any answer's for this? No updates are available either...

      have you been able to switch wifi to 5GHz?

  • @manchale22
    @manchale22 6 лет назад

    Sir once you select 2.4...all channels becomes red.actually all channels are not bad..its the rf bleed from ac.since its close to controller.same thing happens to me..is it normal..if you move away approx 20 to 30 feet behind the wall those red channels will become green..so in theory its difficult to scan actual buzy channel if you are in 2.4 ghz channe and close to acl..as aircraft emits signals in other channels.(which are not connected also)...is it a defect or normal..

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 лет назад +1

      This is normal not need to worry when you are close RF will overload, you need a little distance between them to get the true signal information.

    Helpful to learn how to change channel but how about telling us why.
    The channels were fluctuating and turning red and going up and down and there was no explanation as to what that meant. If unstable means a tall line then why not at least tel us to choose a short line?
    Still confused.

    Wanted to refresh the MA firmware just as you said. I upgraded the assistant to 1.2.3 and when I plug in the drone Assistant 2 now recognizes it but when I plug in the remote controller it won't recognize it. Any ideas?

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 лет назад

      some times it can take a few minutes to connect, make sure your using the side USB port and that your using a good USB cable, then connect turn on and leave it a few minutes and see if it then picks it up

    • @jeffreyruscett298
      @jeffreyruscett298 6 лет назад

      Thanks so much for your reply. Did not work, something to do with missing an update on the assistant 2.
      Went from v1.1.6 to v1.2.3 . Missing a update in between that had the correct driver on it??????
      (Or something like that) Supposedly a person could rectify the situation by uninstalling the latest version,
      installing the version that I missed. (think it had a 7 in it) Than updating to the latest version again. But I really don't know, and don't know if that's even possible.
      Thank you so, so, much for your videos on the Crystalsky monitors. I have the 5.5 & the 7.85. I watch your videos over & over again. Without them I would be COMPLETELY lost. Even did the Litchi thing, although am experiencing a bit of latency with it. Probably a setting somewhere. Both the DJI go 4 app. & Litchi app. are WAY over my head, but I'am learning. You are VERY intelligent & my hero!!!!! THANKS AGAIN!!!!

      Chase Irons what device you using and what region you in ? Try setting your smart device region to USA

    • @Rayman30
      @Rayman30 6 лет назад

      You will have to use an Android phone to change it to 5.8 GHz (ios glitch) once set with an Android by selecting a higher channel, revert back to iPhone and you won’t have the problem again.

    Mavic air choppy video and signal loss with minimal distance problem
    Working method...with this method no issues..
    In auto mode or custom mode the default channel selected will be corrupted once the AC restart
    only work around is i need to go to custom mode and change ONE CHANNEL MANDATORYLY....but the problem with custom channel is it does not give correct readings..if you see most of the 2.4 channels are red...its not because of external wifi..its from the ac...my work around is open wifi analyser..check for clean channel..and select that channel in go4...with this method no signal loss..if i stick to same channel after restart..problem again(not always but most of the time)... unnecessarily dont have to switch to 5.8 thinking all 2.4g channels are bad..

      That’s just it picking up its own signal a minute then it should turn green.
