I don’t even remember the last time I was this excited for a whole album, and I would have never guessed it would be for an LP. So far, every song is a 10/10.
WOW. This album is an absolute tour de force so far, every track is a banger. This is fantastic. A whole new dimension of Linkin Park, and everything we loved about the sound still intact.

I really love how we got three new songs from Linkin Park, and three different styles and three different vibes. This is shaping up to be an amazing album.
When I remember correctly, in the latest interview published (well more like a litte Podcast of Emily and Mike), which was recorded before all live shows, they mentioned, that they will release "three songs" until November....so I guess the math finally lines up 😂

"All we are is talking over each other." and "Are we over each other?" is such brilliant, yet sad way to bring those two different phrases together. So good.
@@MkNine "talking over" someone means to be speaking when they are speaking. Neither person is listening to the other, as each person is speaking at the same time. It essentially describes an argument. But to be "over someone", is to accept you might be finished with that person and your relationship with them has come to a close. So the lyric cleverly changes through the song to describe a situation where people aren't listening to each other ("talking over each other"), to then questioning whether their relationship should just be ended ("are we over each other?"). Hope that makes sense!
I love lyrics that play with words like this. It's beautifully crafted. Musically, it isn't quite what I expected, but the lyrics and the video elevate the song so much

I am focused on the story of this music video. The woman who seems to be Emily's friend seems to symbolize Chester. Emily cries in front of her death. Emily dreams that she would rather die instead of her because she wants to save her. However, at the end of this story, her friend is dead and Emily is left alone. Now, Emily has to find her way.

I hope you continue to feel better and stronger as time goes on. I know that struggle all too well. When the ideation comes around, I recommend focusing on your senses - the smell, how the air feels, how your clothes feel, etc, to get your brain to focus on something else so that you can gather your thoughts and reach out to someone for support. Ask a friend to take a walk, call an old friend you haven't checked in on in awhile, and try your best to affirm to yourself that the pain is temporary, and focus on something you want to look forward to. You've got this!
Man, this song got me... I recently lost my mother to cancer, and the beginning of the song was what got me "Letter I Never Wrote"... She and I, and the whole family, always got along well, and we're very close, even when we moved to the countryside, the siblings all came later together, so that we all lived in the same city. And you know... It made me think, the things she wanted to do, the things she could still live, what she could still say... She discovered she had cancer, and managed to live another month, she never complained about it, or seemed weak, but she always said she would win, and that she wanted to see her grandchildren grow up... Unfortunately, she passed away... And the mood of this song, and the message it conveys... So, whoever listens to the song, or is reading this, don't live your life fighting, or always trying to be right, but see the other side of the person, because you never know when it might be the last time you see them...

Finally a real fan in the comments. Literally saved me from writing a comment copy/pasting what you said. I tell this to everyone and nobody gets it that’s isn’t a musician. I was a 6 year old child at LP’s MTV album release party for their Hybrid Theory album and knew all the lyrics to the songs they played because my parents had their demo on repeat. I can say I don’t “love” every song by LP, but I can appreciate every song they make and understand that they’re constantly evolving and reaching new heights. They took a crazy loss losing Chester, they took a healthy hiatus, they obviously found Emily a lot sooner than we think having already an album done and liked her enough to continue working with her. Like you said, trust Mike, he knows what he’s doing. People’s opinions about trivial things that have nothing to do with their music like someone’s religious beliefs is far worse and toxic than the religion you’re all complaining about. Chester’s son wanted a spot in the band, but had a bad attitude going back to their final show they performed without Chester where he bashed the band for disrespecting his father by performing without his son. Grey Daze brought his son on to sing, and without knowing his son was the one singing I was wildly disappointed in what I was hearing thinking it was all Chester. Knowing it was the son’s parts most likely that killed both of those albums for me, I’m HAPPY he’s not with LP. And him reaching for attention by bashing the band and it’s new member solidifies my opinion even more. He only cares because he wasn’t picked, and got so butthurt he got his mom involved on the online banter lol.

I think this is one of the rare instances where the video is just as important to the storytelling as the song. If I were to listen only to the song, I'd say it's about some bad relationship you're trapped in. But having the video play alongside the song, I've come to realize this is purely about love.

I was just thinking after listening to the first 2 songs off of From Zero that I hoped the next song would showcase more of Emily's vocal talents and that's what happened in this song.
So, this one's a lot more mellow compared to "Heavy Is the Crown" and "The Emptiness Machine", but retains the usual tone and subject matter that LP is best known for. It's also the first song we've heard from the next album that focuses solely on Emily. Coming after her 17-second scream on "Heavy is the Crown" and heavier performance on "The Emptiness Machine", we already have a good showing of her vocal range and just how well she fits the role of the band's new lead singer. Joe Hahn apparently had a longtime dream of directing a video Korea, and he has done an awesome job with the storytelling her. I was not expecting it to end the way it did. At the end of the album version of this song, we hear Mike saying, "Get your screaming pants on", meaning the next song in the tracklist, "Casualty", will be a heavier piece. Can't wait to hear that one!

@@metalmike6668 except people were critiquing her saying she's only a scream vocalist, that she has no range and can't offer the somber, more down to earth vocals we are used to in LP. This song proved that isn't true. If Heavy is the Crown is expo of everything Emily has to offer in terms of high energy vocals, Over Each Other is the foil, showing the other side of Emily's vocal range that's much more calm.
All you have to do is research Emily's band Dead Sara to know she has great vocal range. Listen to Weatherman, then listen to the Stripped version of Anybody. High energy hard rock (Weatherman) vs vulnerable and emotional folk rock vibes similar to Fleetwood Mac (Anybody (Stripped)). The normal version of Anybody is a pop-rock Anthem with 80s synth and fuzzy guitar. Dead Sara is very underrated.
Remember when you talk to a loved one whether it's a lover. A friend or a family member that might be the last words you say to them. We never know how much time left we have on this planet. Beautiful song and really showcases Emily's range.
Last year my mom paased away. Two days before she's leaving, i spesk with her. She told me that she couldn't take her life anymore in cause of her diseases and the lost of my dad few years ago. Every time a new video with Emily Armstrong is dropped, she grows on me, though she'll never replace Chester but I think she is the perfect choice to carry on Linkin Parks name. Let's never forget Chester, but at the same time the show must go on.

Mike Shinoda was on Radio 1 this evening at the 18:30 launch time and was saying this song was one of the first written, and was done before Emily joined with Mike singing, but they changed it many times to this incarnation. He also said that "Casualty" follows this on the album and that is a very different pace :-)

@@MkNine "talking over" someone means to be speaking when they are speaking. Neither person is listening to the other, as each person is speaking at the same time. It essentially describes an argument. But to be "over someone", is to accept you might be finished with that person and your relationship with them has come to a close. So the lyric cleverly changes through the song to describe a situation where people aren't listening to each other ("talking over each other"), to then questioning whether their relationship should just be ended ("are we over each other?"). Hope that makes sense!

I am focused on the story of this music video. The woman who seems to be Emily's friend seems to symbolize Chester. Emily cries in front of her death. Emily dreams that she would rather die instead of her because she wants to save her. However, at the end of this story, her friend is dead and Emily is left alone. Now, Emily has to find her way.

Man, this song got me... I recently lost my mother to cancer, and the beginning of the song was what got me "Letter I Never Wrote"... She and I, and the whole family, always got along well, and we're very close, even when we moved to the countryside, the siblings all came later together, so that we all lived in the same city.
And you know... It made me think, the things she wanted to do, the things she could still live, what she could still say... She discovered she had cancer, and managed to live another month, she never complained about it, or seemed weak, but she always said she would win, and that she wanted to see her grandchildren grow up... Unfortunately, she passed away... And the mood of this song, and the message it conveys... So, whoever listens to the song, or is reading this, don't live your life fighting, or always trying to be right, but see the other side of the person, because you never know when it might be the last time you see them...

Finally a real fan in the comments. Literally saved me from writing a comment copy/pasting what you said. I tell this to everyone and nobody gets it that’s isn’t a musician. I was a 6 year old child at LP’s MTV album release party for their Hybrid Theory album and knew all the lyrics to the songs they played because my parents had their demo on repeat. I can say I don’t “love” every song by LP, but I can appreciate every song they make and understand that they’re constantly evolving and reaching new heights. They took a crazy loss losing Chester, they took a healthy hiatus, they obviously found Emily a lot sooner than we think having already an album done and liked her enough to continue working with her. Like you said, trust Mike, he knows what he’s doing. People’s opinions about trivial things that have nothing to do with their music like someone’s religious beliefs is far worse and toxic than the religion you’re all complaining about. Chester’s son wanted a spot in the band, but had a bad attitude going back to their final show they performed without Chester where he bashed the band for disrespecting his father by performing without his son. Grey Daze brought his son on to sing, and without knowing his son was the one singing I was wildly disappointed in what I was hearing thinking it was all Chester. Knowing it was the son’s parts most likely that killed both of those albums for me, I’m HAPPY he’s not with LP. And him reaching for attention by bashing the band and it’s new member solidifies my opinion even more. He only cares because he wasn’t picked, and got so butthurt he got his mom involved on the online banter lol.

I think this is one of the rare instances where the video is just as important to the storytelling as the song. I was just thinking after listening to the first 2 songs off of From Zero that I hoped the next song would showcase more of Emily's vocal talents and that's what happened in this song.

So, this one's a lot more mellow compared to "Heavy Is the Crown" and "The Emptiness Machine", but retains the usual tone and subject matter that LP is best known for. It's also the first song we've heard from the next album that focuses solely on Emily. Coming after her 17-second scream on "Heavy is the Crown" and heavier performance on "The Emptiness Machine", we already have a good showing of her vocal range and just how well she fits the role of the band's new lead singer.
Joe Hahn apparently had a longtime dream of directing a video Korea, and he has done an awesome job with the storytelling her. I was not expecting it to end the way it did.
At the end of the album version of this song, we hear Mike saying, "Get your screaming pants on", meaning the next song in the tracklist, "Casualty", will be a heavier piece. Can't wait to hear that one!

This song proved that isn't true. If Heavy is the Crown is expo of everything Emily has to offer in terms of high energy vocals, Over Each Other is the foil, showing the other side of Emily's vocal range that's much more calm.
All you have to do is research Emily's band Dead Sara to know she has great vocal range. Listen to Weatherman, then listen to the Stripped version of Anybody. High energy hard rock (Weatherman) vs vulnerable and emotional folk rock vibes similar to Fleetwood Mac (Anybody (Stripped)). The normal version of Anybody is a pop-rock Anthem with 80s synth and fuzzy guitar. Dead Sara is very underrated.

It's obivously not his main income stream, if any income at all, but you would still call members of a small band musicians even though they might not make money with it. And why would they spent money on someone who isn't going to make it as good as he is. His insight from the band and how the songs come to be are basically GOLD for storytelling. The first half of the The Emptiness Machine video was worth a freaking award. You could spent hours picking out the small details from that video.

@@pablomporSP Disagree, at least from what I've heard from them. Dead Sara has much more of a bluesy-grunge-ish sound to their music. The first two songs that came to my mind from them were Mr Weatherman and Mona Lisa and none of these sounds even remotely close to Over Each Other, aside from the fact that Emily's singing on all of them.
This one unexpectedly gave me chills once I realised what really happened in the story

Every time a new video with Emily Armstrong is dropped, she grows on me, though she'll never replace Chester but I think she is the perfect choice to carry on Linkin Parks name. Let's never forget Chester, but at the same time the show must go on.

I feel like this new album is bringing in the hip hop metal of Linkin Park's earlier stuff with the pop electronica of their later stuff, and I'm all for it.

I like this different sound from Linkin Park. Emily doesn't always have to imitate Chester especially with the new songs and we get to see her excel more by her own talent.

I was sitting and trying to determine with myself if "this still felt like Linking Park", and at first I felt like it didn't, but after taking a moment I started feeling like, despite the different vocal, it actually still does have that Linking Park feel imo
Thing is you can kind of imagine Chester singing this song, especially the chorus. That's a credit to Emily though as it proves she's a good fit for the band :)

I wish I discovered Emily sooner. Her voice is so emotional, versatile and dynamic. She's the perfect person take the new Linkin Park forward while also maintaining the band's ethos and honouring the legacy of Chester.

Mike Shinoda was on Radio 1 this evening at the 18:30 launch time and was saying this song was one of the first written, and was done before Emily joined with Mike singing, but they changed it many times to this incarnation.

Came here to say... i was a skeptic after watching the live and personally her trying to be chester... hearing this i can honestly say... i cant wait to hear what they have to come
another comment was saying this song was origionally meant for mike to sing but it was changed for em. i think what helps the most is em singing songs we havnt heard before instead of her singing ones we have all known to be sung by chester. i absolutely love the first 2 songs but im sure if they were done by chester years ago and she sung them it would be a whole different story. 🤷♂
